• Windows Azure AppFabric SDK - June CTP - Download issues

  Microsoft has announced availability of the June CTP for Windows Azure AppFabric. See http://blogs.msdn.com/b/appfabric/archive/2011/06/20/announcing-the-windows-azure-appfabric-june-ctp.aspx. This is an exciting release and provides greater insight into where the AppFabric team is heading in terms of developer and management tooling. Microsoft is offering space in the cloud to experiment with the CTP, but this is limited, so register early to get a namespace! You can download the SDK for the June CTP. However, we ran into a lot of trouble trying to do this today. Whenever we followed the link, we ended up on the page for the May CTP. We found what appeared to be a workaround which we were able to repeat on another box (and which I reported on Connect), but then a few minutes later I couldn't repeat it. Just now, the given link appears to be working every time in IE, but not in Firefox!   Frankly, the behaviour seems random!   It looks like the same URL points to two different pages, and I suspect that which page you end up on is hit and miss. The link to the download page is http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=17691. If you end up on the wrong page, try again later and you may get to the right place. Or try googling "Windows Azure AppFabric SDK CTP – June Update" and following a link to this page. For some reason, that sometimes seems to work. • Using mod_rewrite for a Virtual Filesystem vs. Real Filesystem

  I started working in a department that uses a CMS in which the entire "filesystem" is like this: create a named file or folder - this file is given a unique node (ex. 2345) as well as a default "filename" (ex. /WelcomeToOurProductsPage) and apply a template assign one or more aliases to the file for a URL redirect (ex. /home-page-products - can also be accessed by /home-page-products.aspx) A new Rewrite command is written on the .htaccess file for each and every alias Server accesses either /WelcomeToOurProductsPage or /home-page-products and redirects to something like /template.aspx?tmp=2&node=2345 (here I'm guessing what it does - I only have front-end access for now - but I have enough clues to strongly assume) Node 2345 grabs content stored in a SQL Db and applies it to the template. Note: There are no actual files being created on the filesystem. It's entirely virtual. This is probably a very common thing, but since I have never run across this kind of system before two months ago, I wanted to explain it in case it isn't common. I'm not a fan at all of ASP or closed-sourced systems, so it may be that this is common practice for ASP developers. My question, that has taken far too long to ask, is: what are the benefits of this kind of system, as opposed to creating an actual file hierarchy? Are there any drawbacks to having every single file server call redirected? To having the .htaccess file hold rewrite rules for every single alias?

• ASP.NET Wizard control with Dynamic UserControls

  Hello everyone I'm trying to use the Wizard control as follows: 1 - In the first step (first screen) has a cheklistbox with several options 2 - For each option selected, will be created an extra step 3 - In some steps may be set up intermediate stages Me problem is that each step is a usercontrol. So if the first step I select option1 and option3, I should create two more steps with usercontrol1 and UserControl3 .... Someone already did something similar? I will try explain better the problem. • Setting Session Variable from UpdatePanel

  I am using ASP.NET 2.0 AJAX Extensions 1.0 with the version v1.0.20229 of the AJAX Control Toolkit (which to my knowledge is the latest for .NET 2.0/Visual Studio 2005). My web page (aspx) has a DropDownList control on an UpdatePanel. In the handler for the DropDownList's SelectedIndexChanged event I attempt to set a session variable. The first time the event is fired, I get a Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerParserErrorException: "The message received from the server could not be parsed". If I continue, subsequent SelectedIndexChanged's are handled successfully. I have stumbled upon a solution whereby if I initialise the session variable in my Page_Load (so the event handler is just setting the value of a session variable that already exists as opposed to creating a new one) the problem goes away. I'm happy to do this, but I'm curious as to exactly what the underlying cause is. Can anyone explain? (My suspicion is that setting the session variable receives a response from the server which is then returned to the 'caller', but it's not the sort of response it knows how to deal with causing the exception?) • Trying to scrape a page with php/curl, trouble with cookies, post vars, and hidden fields.

  Im trying to use CURL to scrape the results from the page http://adlab.msn.com/Online-Commercial-Intention/Default.aspx My understanding, is that i visit this page, it places cookie info and sets a few variables. I enter my query, select the query radio option, and click go. The problem, is that its not working the way that it does through the website as im trying to get it to using the code below. Ive tweaked several things, but im posting here in hopes someone can find what im missing. • Python Mechanize unable to avoid redirect when Post

  I am trying to crawl a site using mechanize. The site provides search results in different pages. When posting to get the next set of results, something is wrong and the server redirects me to the first page, asking mechanize to update the SearchSession Cookie. I have been debugging the requests using Firefox and they look quite the same, and I am unable to find the problem. Any suggestion?   I need to display a real time data from MS SQL 2005. I saw some blogs that recommend Ajax to solve my problem. Basically, right now I have my default.aspx page only just for a workaround I could able to display the data from my DB. But once I add data manually to my DB there's no updating made. Any suggestions guys to fix this problem? I need to update datagridview with out refreshing the page. These menu items should show up only when the user has add and edit permissions for that document library. If he selected the menu, url is redirected to my webpart. Webpart is deployed in site collection. To do this i have two way. I mentioned in as case 1 & case 2. Take the same code to a Mac; Safari/ firefox are displaying the menu to be too short and the only thing i can point to is that the fonts may be smaller in widths. The width is currently set to 970px. My question is: How can i get it to display at the same widths without specifying exact widths for each list item? Any help would be appreciated. • Sharepoint RSS feed description fields as elements

  Hello, This is my first time working with RSS but I am fluent with XML/XSL. I have a RSS feed that I am pulling from a list in Sharepoint. The sample XML is below. The RSS description element parses the various columns (Body, Expires, Attachments) that are in the Sharepoint list automatically. I know that from the list I can control which fields are included in the description, but this is not what I am looking to do. Is there any way to force the fields to come through in an XML element format instead of the CDATA that converted to HTML? For example, I may want to check a priority field and if it is important when applying the XSL I would bold red it or something. • checking virtual sub domains

  I create a project that check the sub domain and redirect to the exist subdomain ( username ) but I can't find out why when the username is in database it can't show it . on local system it works finely .. but when I upload it on server it not works .. of course I change the commented place to uncomment for test .. but it's not working .. it shows this error : Object reference not set to an instance of an object. • Adding button to jqGrid top toolbar

  Looks like the default toolbar for jqGrid is always at the bottom. Buttons like Next/Prev page and the dropdown to select the number of rows per page will always show at the bottom of the grid. I found a way to add a custom top toolbar and push custom buttons into it. What a really need is a way to add default functionality (like paging) to the top of the grid, instead the bottom.

  Hi there, I'm using macvim and I love it. I also happen to really like the default font. My question is: How do I change the font size in my .gvimrc? I want it to be bigger, without changing the font from the default. All the examples I've seen specify a font then a ':' then the size. So how do I just change the size not the font itself? Thanks!

• jsTree async with preloaded data.

  I am trying to make a tree view be async. When the page is rendered, there is default tree items displayed. jsTree tries to reload the root anyway. I want the page to render (with jsTree init'ed) with default items rendered from browser, not the ajax call. Then we the user tries to go deeper, thats when I want to do do the ajax calls. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
