  Until recently I was using the portable USB hard drive in my win 7 laptop and ubuntu laptop. Suddenly now none of the laptops recognize it. This is the message i get by doing lsusb... I can't find any documentation in the man page about what these numbers mean, and it's difficult to search since Google throws away the brackets and slash. • WIFI/LAN not working after Installing Ubuntu 13.10

  I can't connect to my WIFI after installing Ubuntu 13.10. I tried re-installing it three times (thinking that I did something wrong during the installation) but I still can't connect to my WIFI. It just gives me the message that I'm offline and that I can't connect to my WIFI. I also tried connecting to the internet using LAN cable but with the same results. I tried google but it seems that there's no solution to this yet.... Anybody knows how to solve this? Thanks! • HTML5 - Does it have the power to handle a large 2D game with a huge world?

  I have been using XNA game studio, but due to private reasons (as well as the ability to publish anywhere & my heavy interest in isogenic engine), I would like to switch to HTML5. However, I have very high 2D graphic demands for my game. The game itself will have a HDD size of anywhere between 6GB (min) to 12GB (max) which would be a full game deployed offline. The size of the images aren't significantly large, so streaming would be entirely possible if only those assets required were streamed as needed. The game has a massive file size because of the sheer amount of content. For some images or spritesheets, they would be quite massive. (ex. a very large Dragon, which if animated in a spritesheet would be split into two 4096x4096 sheets or one 8192x8192 sheet). Most assets would be very small, and about 7MB for a full character with 15 animations in every direction (all animations not required immediately) so in the size of a few hundred KB to download before the game loads. My question, however, is if the graphical power of HTML5 is enough to animate several characters on screen at once, when it flips through frames quite rapidly. All my sprites have about 25 frames per animation, 5 directions (a spritesheet for each direction & animation), and run at 30fps. Upon changing direction, animation, or a new character entering, spritesheets would change and be constantly loading/unloading. If I pack all directions in a single sheet, it would be about 2048x2048 per sheet. Most frameworks have no problem with this, but I am afraid from what I read that HTML5's graphical capabilities will limit me. Since it takes significant time simply to animate characters in any language, I'd like a quick answer.

  I have following problem: When I try to change size of any explorer window from maximized to some size getting following screen It blinks 20-30 times, then crashes.   I have a question that should not be too hard but it has been bugging me for a long time. I am trying to write a function that searches in a directory that has different folders for all files that have the extension jpg and which size is bigger than 0. It then should print the sum of the size of the files that are in these categories. It sums the sizes of the files of one directory but it does not keep suming the rest. • how to recover lost partitions data

  I have a 2TB SATA drive that was being used as file storage on my UBUNTU computer. I was re-imaging my windows box so I used that drive to back up some files to it. I did this by taking the drive from my windows PC and putting it in my UBUNTU PC, mounted it and copied the files over. After the windows refresh I thought it would be easier to take the 2 TB drive and dock it in the external dock my Windows case has built in. Anyway it would recognize in BIOS but windows would not see it (because it was EXT3 or EXT4) so when I went into the disk manager it advised me the drive needed to be initialized. Me not thinking I initialized it as a GUID Partition table. Now it sees it as a blank drive, even in UBUNTU. I have done nothing else to write or change the drive. I was wondering if there is a qay to repair the old partitioning and get access to my files back? many thanks! EDIT: I followed the instructions in the link @kniwor sent me. • Windows 7 booting and startup repair issues

  I have a MSI FR720 laptop with Windows 7 and Lubuntu partions. For quite a while (6 months or so) I've been having issues booting from my hard drive, it'd take me between 5 minutes and several hours for me to be able to have it recognize the hard drive as a bootable device. I did several disk checks on it, and my hard drive seems in perfect condition, and the fact that booting would usually only work after removing the hard drive and trying to reset it in its slot or lightly shaking it makes me think it had something to do with the connection in the hard drive slot as opposed to the hard drive itself. I was having particular issues with it detecting the hard drive today so I decided to try booting it from an external hard drive dock. It detected it first try and so far has had no problems finding the bootable partitions on my hard drive. When I selected my Windows 7 partition from the boot menu it said that it hadn't been shut down properly last time and needed startup repair. I've done this several times over the last 6 months, so this is hardly unusual. I do startup repair, it fails, and then I try to do a system restore. The system restore also failed, and it says that no files were changed. I restart and try it again. However, this time when I get to the startup repair it's not detecting a Windows OS. I tried clicking next and doing a startup repair but the repair is always failing. If I ignore the startup repair option and instead select "Launch windows normally" it will get to the windows animation, stop halfway through and then crash into a BSoD. I can't read the error on the screen because it immediately switches to back and tries to restart. This is my first time asking a question like this online, so let me know if I need to provide any extra information and I'll do my best to give it I tried using diskpart to find the list of partitions and see if one's labelled as an active partition, but it says that no disk were detected. I can run Lubuntu just fine. I can also see all of my Windows 7 files from it EDIT: The startup repair diagnosis and repair log is this: -- Number of repair attempts: 1 Session details System Disk = Windows directory = AutoChk Run = 0 Number of root causes = 1 Test Performed: Name: Check for updates Result: Completed successfully.   In mongodb i work with this collection: Size 55.93g Data Size 39.82g Storage Size 41.08g Extents 53 Indexes 4 Index Size 9.64g It takes few seconds of mongdb being up with this single collection and all 48GB RAM on the dedicated server are gone. That's worse because there is also a mysqld+nginx/fcgi on this machine which should be allowed to use at least 24GB together. I.e. remaining 24GB, enough for the mongod! However, it does not share in a fair way. Everybody says that the memory for mongod is managed by OS and releases unneccessary space for other processes if they demand RAM. On my machine it is not releasing RAM. Is there any way to massage Form Designer into allowing me to visually edit my control?

  Greetings, I am trying to perform a copy from one vector (vec1) to another vector (vec2) using the following 2 abbreviated lines of code (full test app follows): vec2.reserve( vec1.size() ); copy(vec1.begin(), vec1.end(), vec2.begin()); While the call to vec2 sets the capacity of vector vec2, the copying of data to vec2 seems to not fill in the values from vec1 to vec2. I have a fixed table setting in pixels instead of percentages, so I don't understand why this is an issue. I want the text in the cells to stay in the same position when zooming. The code must be manipulated from the code behind, so I cannot create a separate CSS file. Any help is appreciated. Here are two examples to illustrate what I'm talking about: Normal zoom at 100%: Zoom at 75%: Notice in the second image the two table cells at the bottom are slightly offset to the left. UPDATE: Yes, I understand, we will be implementing a new system in the near future. Obviously this is old and very non-standard, this was dropped in my lap when I started working with it. And we're coming up with plans for a new system to replace it, in the meantime, this is what I have to deal with.
