• Usefulness of packets in wireshark? SSDP protocol, rather than HTTP?

  I used to be able to filter my wireshark packets to get useful information from them. However, with my current configuration on OSX, all of the HTTP traffic is coming through as the SSDP protocol and is generally being unhelpful. Why is this? Actually, it seems that packets on my own system that should be HTTP are coming throuhg as HTTP, but packets from other machines that should be HTTP are coming through as this protocol.

  How do I configure Apache to rewrite an http request for a subdomain to an https request for the correct directory? For example, I have the following VirtualHost configuration: However, this turns http://redmine...us into https://redmine...us/redmine. Also, changing RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://%{HTTP_HOST}/redmine [R] to RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://%{HTTP_HOST} [R] seems to simply redirect the HTTP request to HTTP://...us, which is currently the default /var/www/index.html page. Any suggestions?

• Apache2 graceful restart stops proxying requests to passenger

  Issue with apache mod proxy, it stops proxying requests after a graceful restart but not all the time. It seems to happen only on a Sunday when a graceful restart is triggered by logrotate. • OpenCV install problems on Studio 12.04 - broken dependencies

  I'm trying to follow the Ubuntu OpenCV documentation at OpenCV. The provided script has a line which executed for some time, taking away more packages than I expected (such as ubuntu-studio video); sudo apt-get -qq remove ffmpeg x264 libx264-dev When the script gets to the line below, it bombs; sudo apt-get -qq install libopencv-dev build-essential checkinstall cmake pkg-config yasm libtiff4-dev libjpeg-dev libjasper-dev libavcodec-dev libavformat-dev libswscale-dev libdc1394-22-dev libxine-dev libgstreamer0.10-dev libgstreamer-plugins-base0.10-dev libv4l-dev python-dev python-numpy libtbb-dev libqt4-dev libgtk2.0-dev libfaac-dev libmp3lame-dev libopencore-amrnb-dev libopencore-amrwb-dev libtheora-dev libvorbis-dev libxvidcore-dev x264 v4l-utils ffmpeg The error msg is; E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages. I've since run Update-Manager, run sudo apt-get updates, rebooted, tried the above script line manually, and still no change. I've just run sudo apt-get install -f and nothing seemed to change. It did mention that some packages were no longer needed and could be removed by apt-get autoremove, so I ran that. It removed a number of packages, so I reran the install command above. Still same problem of held broken packages. I just ran sudo apt-get -u dist-upgrade Part of the response was; The following packages have been kept back: gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg I'm not sure what that means. I do know that it shows up in my Update-Manager and cannot be checked I then ran sudo dpkg --configure -a and then reran sudo apt-get -f install and the package was still not upgraded, though there was this very interesting comment; Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming. The following information may help to resolve the situation: The following packages have unmet dependencies: gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg : Depends: libavcodec53 (< 5:0) but it is not going to be installed or libavcodec-extra-53 (< 5:0) but 5:0.7.2-1ubuntu1+codecs1~oneiric2 is to be installed E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages. However, when I ran the original apt-get to install opencv (first code at the top of this question), it still gave me the same broken package errors.   I'm looking for a way to force SSL and WWW. I've been able to force both separately but together I keep running into redirection issues. The following code works when handling a url in this format: "http://domain.com" and properly redirects to "https://www.domain.com" but when the incoming url is "https://domain.com" it will not forward to "https://www.domain.com" -- Any suggestions? • Chrome and Firefox not able to find some sites after Ubuntu's recent update?

  Loading of revision3.com in Chrome stops and status saying "waiting for static.inplay.tubemogul.com" grooveshark.com in Chrome never loads But wikipedia.org, google.com works just normal same behavior in Firefox too. I use wired DSL connection in Ubuntu 12.04. I guess this started happening after I upgraded the Chrome browser or Flash plugin few days ago from Ubuntu updates through update-manager. Thanks EDIT: Everything works normal in my WinXP. Problem is only in Ubuntu 12.04. • Is there a generally accepted maximum number of http requests for a web page load?

  I'm looking into optimizing my web application's client side performance but cannot figure out a good goal for # of http requests for a page. How does YSlow calculate the grade? This doesn't seem to be documented. Also it seems many sites like linkedin.com, amazon.com get an F grade but the page still loads quite fast. How does it fail but still perform well? Gmail get's an A grade and it has 43 unprimed/10 primed requests.

• Why does my browser take me to Scour.com? (redirect virus)

  The "scour" or Rootkit.Win32.TDSS virus has a long history which can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scour Here is the primary symptom: after searching for something in your web browser using google, one of the results that you click on redirects you to scour.com. If you've executed ClamWin, Malwarebytes, McAfee, Norton, etc. to find and isolate the virus without any luck--this isn't really a surprise, since this virus attaches to existing system drivers. I only know of one reliable package that will remove this without ill effects--like adding new spyware. This package is called TDSSKiller. I have seen multiple websites that claim to have this software available, but the one that I know is reliable is located here: http://support.kaspersky.com/viruses/solutions?qid=208280684 Once you go to Kaspersky's tech support site, the TDSSKiller zip file is available for downloading. When you execute this software, you will be able to "cure" or repair the infected driver. Remember to jot down the name of the driver for future reference--should you need to reinstall the driver from a "same-as" working computer, or your install disk if the repair is ineffective. The driver that happened to get infected on my computer was the tcpip.sys driver. This caused my win sockets to loose their ip addresses. In most other instances, less critical drivers such as HDAudBus.sys are infected. In my case, I was not through correcting my computer problems until I corrected the broken WinSock issue and loaded an earlier version of the tcpip.sys driver from: C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386 which I placed in: C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers Don't forget to reboot your computer after your repair! Once you download TDSSKiller and cure/repair your infected driver(s), the redirect on google searches should disappear .

• Youtube has no voice but the music continues just fine?

  PC CONFIG: gigabyte EP45C UD3R with the realtek HD onboard 4gb dual channel Qcore 2.83ghz When i watch to videos on youtube now the voice some times is in static and some times so low that you can hear it while the sound continues just fine... For example if can hear to things like guitar or a train etc but the voice of whoever is speaking is gone or very low or pure static when watching the videos. I know some videos have a really great quality and some are HD 1080p so this was something not expected to happen. I can aswell play videos on my WMP11 just fine i have ccc-p installed also tried k-lite, both on the latest stable avaiable. I havent tried anything else related to flash but something is either wrong with my drivers or youtube. I have installed the latest drivers to make sure they are up-to-date but this didnt help either. What i have tried so far: removed the audio drivers and re-installed remove any codec pack i had and re-installed k-lite, test, didnt worked remove any codec pack i had and re-installed cccp, test, didnt worked checked the control panel sound configurations, tried chaging to phone stereo, to 5.1 which is what my headphone is. checked the realtek manager, tried changing the sound channels from 2CH to 6CH to reflect my headphone, didnt work. rebooted after every change of the above tries. tried chrome, firefox and internet explorer with the same results didnt w
