    I have to following setup on two Win7 machines connected over LAN: UltraVNC Server <---- UltraVNC Viewer Since I'm only interested into connecting always to the same server, I was wondering if it is possible to start the viewer and connect to the server with only one-click. Start Viewer + Connect + Enter Password (three steps) Since I've already figured out that I can automate the last step with the -password argument, I'm down to two steps: Start Viewer + Connect (two steps) How can I tell the UltraVNC viewer to automatically connect?

  • Which twitter client can synchronize unread tweets?

    Right now I'm forced to read all the tweets in a single client on a single device (TweetDeck on my Android phone). If I would switch to another device and/or client, I would need to search for the last unread tweet, which is sometimes complicated (too many tweets). So, the question: Is there a client who can keep the status (read/unread) on tweets across multiple devices? My target systems would be now Android and MS Windows, but also Linux might be handy.

    I've edited a pps file which was made with the 2003 version and saved also as compatible with Power Point 97-2003 but a friend a mine can't see the last version of the file. The original file can be seen by my computer friend. What can I do to make the new version of the pps file to be viewable on the computer of my friend? Any tips?   • How can I limit Safari's RAM use?

    Safari uses a lot of RAM. Especially when you add Safari's use to WebProcess's use: it comes to about 1.5 GB of memory (for me, anyway). How can I limit the amount of RAM Safari and WebProcess use? I know a similar question was asked last summer, but two of those answers have to do with the program in question (Dropbox) and the other answer encourages use of Terminal, which I find terribly confusing. Are there any other methods?

  • Can't re-open "Group My Tabs" page after killing Firefox

    Due to memory problems I closed Firefox whilst the Group My Tabs (Ctrl+e) feature was displaying the multiple tab groups. After 20 minutes the process still hadn't finished so killall firefoxed it. When I restart Firefox, there is a Javascript process called tabview.js that hangs unless I click Stop at the warning screen. If I do hit Stop then I can no longer open the tabview, so I can't get to any of the tabs except in the subgroup I was last looking at. Any suggestions?

    I have a csv file that contains cells such as "+1.8882789780". When viewed in Excel, it loses the last digit possibly due to excel truncation. Is there a way to either change the setting in Excel to prevent this from happening or change the csv file in some way? One way is to wrap single quotes around the cell contents in addition to the double quotes. "'+1.8882789780'" Is there a better way?

    I did a great deal of reading here before posting this because I didn't want to post a duplicate - but I'm on a bit of a deadline and getting frustrated, so here goes... I very, very, very sincerely apologize if this is long winded or hard to read. Please - please just ask for any information or clarification and I will give it as quickly as I possibly can. This has become very frustrating to me and this is the last place I know to turn. I have no experience with setting up DNS, no experience with nameservers, and no peers to go to for help. So this is kind of my last ditch effort. The task of setting up a private server has, through circumstances beyond my control, fallen into my lap. I own a domain (hereafter referred to as yyy.com) and have always used shared hosting - I buy a package and just point it to the domain nameservers they give me. It's always been simple. yyy.com is registered with network solutions Now I have purchased a Virtual Private Hosting package from GoDaddy.com - and it comes with Plesk 11. I have no earthly idea how to begin to get the right nameserver for yyy.com. I have gone through the instructions and have wound up exceedingly frustrated. I have 2 IP addresses from GoDaddy for the server. This is what I have so far, and I cannot tell if it is working (Since propogation takes so long, it is extremely hard to test for me) IP 1 : XX.XX.XX.XX IP 2 : YY.YY.YY.YY (obviously hidden for privacy) Now after going through the documentation setup and waiting a few days, this is the setup I have - and so far it does not appear to be working.     I am using gnome-terminal with bash. When I set xterm-256color for $TERM and in .tmux.conf most of the things work but when I try to change the colorscheme of vim the things mess up. When I set screen-256color for $TERM and in .tmux.conf the colors work ok but most of the keys go mad. I've tried some of the suggestions from the last link but when I ssh the arrows crash even on the command line.. So how to configure tmux?

    Will a bacula volume be recycled if: No more volumes are appendable The date of the last job on it is past the volume retention period Jobs on that volume are not past the job and file retention periods This is the way the manual reads to me, but I saw a post saying all retention periods have to be up before a volume is recycled (which does make less sense to me).   • One user sometimes gets an unknown certificate error opening Outlook

    Let me clarify a little. This isn't an unknown certificate error it's an unknown certificate error in so much as I can't figure out where the certificate comes from. This happens on a Win 7 Enterprise machine connecting to Exchange 2010 with Outlook 2010. The error he gets is that the root is not trusted because it's a self-signed cert. Take a look at this screenshot because even if I had generated this myself I wouldn't have put "SomeOrganizationalUnit" or "SomeCity" or "SomeState", etc. (Red block covers our domain name.) I'm a little concerned this is a symptom of a security breach. Exchange 2010 has three certificates installed but none of them are this certificate. They all have different expiration dates (one is expired) and different meta-data. edit: There are two scenarios that I see the certificate warning and one of them I can reliably repeat. When the user leaves his computer on over night Outlook pops the Security Warning window. I don't know what time this happens. Using Outlook Anywhere if I connect to Exchange externally via a cellular USB modem the Security Warning window will appear every time I close and reopen Outlook. Whether I say Yes or No does not make a difference on whether or not I can connect to Exchange and send/receive email. In other words, I can always connect to Exchange. I've checked my two Exchange servers and my Cisco router for a certificate that matches this one and I can't find it. edit 2: Here is a screenshot of the Security Alert window. (I've been calling it Security Warning... My mistake.) edit 3: I stopped seeing this error several weeks ago but I can't tie it to any single event (because I just sort of realized that warning had stopped showing up) but I think I found the source of the certificate. Last week I found out that the certificate on our website DomainA.com was invalid. I knew that our web admin had installed a valid certificate so when I look into the problem I found out I was being presented with the invalid certificate that this posting is in regards to. The Exchange server's domain is mail.DomainA.com so I can only guess that Outlook was passing this invalid certificate through as it did some kind of check on DomainA.com. This issue is still a mystery because the certificate warning stopped appearing several weeks ago whereas the invalid certificate issue on the website was only fixed last week. It ended up being a problem with the website control panel. The valid certificate was installed but not being served for some reason and instead the self-signed cert was being served.

  • I have been told to accept one error with Memtest86+

    Bought a new computer back in August with 4x4 GB RAM. Had problems with the RAM. They sent me four new sticks, which also generated errors. Singled out four sticks (from the eight I now had) that didn't generate any errors. Discovered by coincident a new RAM error last week (this time no BSOD). Contacted the company. According to them there have been issues with a bad stock from last summer so I got two tested 8 GB sticks sent to me. Been running Memtest86+ over the weekend. After 20 hours I got an error (see attached photo). The test has now been running for 37 hours but so far only this one error. I contacted the company where I bought the computer. They wrote back: I wouldn't worry about hat one fail. We have had similar situations here whereby it passes numerous times but then fails once. We think it's an issue with memtest, after all memory is faulty or it isn't so you can't really have it pass a few times, fail the next time around and then pass again! Please trust me on this and continue with the memory we sent you and if your problems continue we'll look at getting it replaced again. I gather from other forum posts that many people do not accept a single error. What could this single error signify, faulty RAM or a glitch in the MEMTEST program (or other)? Update: From the helpful comments below I conclude that an occasional (and rare) "random" error could occur and be acceptable, but repeated errors at the same address would indicate malfunction. Memtest has now run for 45 hours and I still have only one error. For everyone's information, I will keep running the test. In less than two days I am going away for a month. I will most likely leave Memtest running. As I do not have a UPS there is a risk that a power outage will ruin the experiment. The computer is a desktop so I cannot bring it with me (which would curiously have exposed it to more cosmic rays as I will be flying ;)).

Thread.new do my_another_queue = AWS::SQS::Queue.new(SQSADDR['my_another_queue']) my_another_queue.poll do |msg| ... and now it seems to not work. Only the last one receives response... What is going on?

    I'm constructing a backup script for Windows 7, and the last action I want it to perform is to safely "remove" the USB drive that it is backing up to. I am under the impression that plugging the drive into the SAME USB port all the time will keep the same DEV_ID, correct me if I'm wrong. With a Command Line (or PowerShell), how can I tell Windows to safely remove the hardware automatically without user input? Just as a place holder, other OSes that may have a way to do this would be great to know as well

    I'm looking for a definitive answer, does Solaris 10 running on a SPARC machine support booting into 32bit mode? I've found one site that states Solaris 8 was the last version that supported booting in a 32bit mode for SPARC. I've read multiple items that explain how to boot Solaris into 32bit mode, however they did not list the Solaris version. We've tried all the ways specified, but the system keeps booting into 64bit mode.

  • Log all files saved on XP system.

    I have a user that frequently saves items (or even forgets to save) to places that he forgets. Usually a simple search finds them, but not always. Is there any way to log/track the most recently saved files? It would be great to be the last "saved" files as the recent documents feature is unreliable if he constantly opens documents in his search for the file he just saved. Alternatively, any ideas on how to control this situation?
