• Application window sent behind other windows on closing different thread (C#)

  I'm writing a Windows Forms Application in C#.NET On startup, the application displays a splash screen which is running in a separate thread. Whilst the splash screen is showing, the main application is initialising. Once the main application has finished initialising, the main form of the application is displayed, and the splash screen still shows over the top. Everything so far is as expected. Then, the Splash screen is closed, which causes that thread to exit. For some reason, at the point, the main application windows gets sent behind all other open Windows, notably the Windows Explorer window where you clicked the .exe file to run the application in the first place! What could be causing the windows to suddenly jump "behind" like this?

• How do I remove a control if not a specific type?

  I have a control that I need to restrict the types of child controls that it can contain during design time (dragging a new control onto an existing control on the form designer). I tried to do this by overriding the OnControlAdded event: Protected Overrides Sub OnControlAdded(ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.ControlEventArgs) MyBase.OnControlAdded(e) If e.Control.GetType() IsNot GetType(ExpandablePanel) Then MsgBox("You can only add the ExpandablePanel control to the TaskPane.", MsgBoxStyle.Exclamation Or MsgBoxStyle.OkOnly, "TaskPane") Controls.Remove(e.Control) End If End Sub This seems to work, however I get an error message from Visual Studio immediately after the control is removed: 'child' is not a child control of this parent. What does this mean? How can I accomplish this without errors occurring?

• URL Routing to Default Page

  Hi everyone, I have an asp.net 4.0 web forms app setup with url rereouting. In development, my app's URL looks perfect. I have a page called enrollnow.aspx that responds to the routing, so if I type in localhost/enrollnow/abc, my app responds as expected. Once promoted into my staging environment however, the URL is off. I have a domain, and a virtual dir created off of my domain called "enrollnow". So basically, my URL outside of development is: mydomain.com/enrollnow/enrollnow/abc - where the first enrollnow is the directory, the second enrollnow is the page name, and the abc is my route value. Is there any way I can have the "default page" respond, so the second enrollnow (which is enrollnow.asp) isnt required? Perhaps I can rename my enrollnow.aspx page to default.aspx, or I can change the mapping in my routetable? Heres my routetable, incase that helps. thanks! • PHP: Parsing of a given form input variable

  How would I go about parsing incoming form data where the name changes based on section of site like: <input type="radio" name="Motorola section" value="Ask a question"> where 'Motorola section may be that, or Verizon section, or Blackberry section, etc. I do not have any control over changing the existing forms unfortunately, so must find a way to work with what is there. Basically, I need to be able to grab both the name="" data as well as its coresponding value="" data to be able to populate the email that gets sent properly.

• Inserting Record into multiple tables No Common ID

  OK so I have two tables, MEDIA and BUSINESS. I want it set up so the forms to input into them are on the same page. MEDIA has a row that is biz_id that is the id of BUSINESS. So MEDIA is really a part of BUSINESS. HOW do I insert/add these into their tables without a common ID because I haven't yet made the record for business? I'm sorry I didn't really word this very much... You might need more clarification to answer properly and I'll be glad to give any more info. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

• In C# or .NET, is there a way to prevent other threads from invoking methods on a particular thread?

  I have a Windows Forms application with a BackgroundWorker. In a method on the main form, a MessageBox is shown and the user must click the OK button to continue. Meanwhile, while the messagebox is being displayed, the BackgroundWorker finishes executing and calls the RunWorkerCompleted event. In the method I have assigned to that event, which runs on the UI thread, the Close method is called on the form. Even though the method that shows the message box is still running, the UI thread is not blocking other threads from invoking methods on it. So the Close method gets called on the form. What I want is for the UI thread to block other threads' invokes until the method with the message box has finished. Is there an easy way to do that?

• Global Import/using Aliasing in .NET

  Using import aliasing in a single class, we can reference class library namespaces by assigning our own custom alias like this: ' VB Imports Db = Company.Lib.Data.Objects // C# using Db = Company.Lib.Data.Objects; And then we are able to reference the classes inside of Company.Lib.Data.Objects by using the Db alias that we assigned. Is it possible to do this at the global level so that the alias is applied to the entire solution instead of the given file? Currently, we are working with web applications, so I was hoping we could add something to web.config, but I am also interested in whether or not this is possible with windows forms, console apps, and/or class libraries.

  I'm building dynamic forms based on a partial view. My view inherits a model with a single property: CatalogName { get; set; }. I have tried this: @Html.Label(Model.CatalogName + "-ProductNumber", "Product Number") @Html.TextBox(Model.CatalogName + "-ProductNumber") The HTML renders like this though: <label for>Product Number</label> <input name="CatatalogName-ProductNumber" type="text" /> If I write my code like this: @Html.Label("ProductNumber-" + Model.CatalogName", "Product Number") It will render the way I expect <label for="ProductNumber-CatalogName">Product Number</label> Is this a bug with MVC? Are there any answers to why my concatenation won't work the way I want it in the label, but works fine with the TextBox?

• why click on the button is not working on IE?

  Hi guys, I'm just preparing the release of a library site builded in asp.net: http://213.133.103.5/gramma_prod/Site/Index.aspx All it's working great on FF and Chrome but on IE the asp button click event is not working. Please notice the most important buttons: "Adauga in cos" (Add to basket)... I'm just struggling to find out the problem... I've checked the forms to not have nested ones but they seems ok. Could you provide any other ideea? ps: I did not post any code because this problem occurs on all pages... Thanks in advance. • How to find the submit button in a specific form in jQuery

  I try to get jQuery object of a submit button in a specific form (there are several forms on the same page). I managed to get the form element itself. It looks something like this: var curForm = curElement.parents("form"); The current Element has the context HTMLInputElement. The several techniques I tried to get the according submit element of the form: var curSubmit = curForm.find("input[type='submit']"); var curSubmit = $(curForm).find("input[type='submit']"); var curSubmit = curForm.find(":submit"); var curSubmit = $(curForm).find(":submit"); var curSubmit = $(curSubmit, "input[type='submit']"); the result is always the same (and very strange). The result that I get is the same element as "curElement". So how can I get the right submit button?

• MS Access Crashed an now all Form objects and code modules are missing

  I was adding a form to our Access 07 db. I copied an existing form to use as a template, renamed it, and saved it. I opened a different form to check something and Access crashed. When I reopened the database it says: "Access has detected that this database is in an inconsistent state, and will attempt to recover the database." etc. When it reopened - all forms and reports were missing. Saved queries remain. The error message states that object recovery failures will be noted in a Recovery Errors table - but this table wasn't created. The links to the be database remained intact. The database is split - I was experimenting with a form on a front-end copy which might have something to do with it. Any ideas what would cause this (I can see loosing recent work - but nixing all form objects?!) And is there any chance of recovery?

• Theme the node-create and node-edit template

  I'm using drupal 6. I've managed to make a .tpl file for one content type, that is for images in my image gallery. I did that by adding this code in template.php: function artbasic_theme($existing, $type, $theme, $path) { return array( 'galleryimage_node_form' => array( 'arguments' => array('form' => NULL), 'template' => 'galleryimage_node_form' ) ); } And then I created galleryimage_node_form.tpl.php, and was good to go. Now it happens so that I want to have other template files for the forms of other content types, for example link_contrib_node_form.tpl.php. I've tried a couple of ways to change this function to include more content types, but I can't figure it out. Can anyone help?

• Show elipses where text will be truncated as per iTunes

  I a building an application with a similar layout to iTunes i.e. it has a sidebar that doubles as a menu. Some of the text will exceed the boundary and rather that having it be truncated I would like to show ellipses (see line image below "Purchased on My iPh..."). How would I go about this in WPF? Suppose I made the boundary movable i.e. user can change the size of the panel (split panel in Windows Forms), how would I go about dynamically showing the ellipses/text? Thanks in advance, B

The problem is when I enter invalid email, it recognizes it, but when I go back to this field and enter correct email, the error text still stays even though I have used the 'else' part. • How is a constructor executed?

  I am doing some reviison from the lecture slides and it says a constructor is executed in the following way; If the constructor starts with this, recursively execute the indicated constructor, then go to step 4. Invoke the explicitly or implicitly indicated superclass constructor (unless this class is java.lang.Object) Initialise the fields of the object in the order in which they were declared in this class Execute the rest of the body of this constructor. What i dont undertsand is that, a constructor can never "start" with this, because even if it forms no class heirarchy/relationship then super() is inserted by default.   There are many forms in my page. I want to merge them in one object and submit them in one object. But I find serializeArray() or serialize() do not match my request, the serializeArray function will generate a array object and serialize is used by get model, it is not an object. is there a jquery or local function can merge them in one object. I have one solution but it is not perfect, loop the array object generated by serializeArray, use $.extend to merge them in one object. is there a better method? kindly help, thanks.

  Hi, We have a web application that creates a dynamic PHP page with all the MySQL stored details a user has entered via a number a forms. So far so good, but we want this information stored some how to be refereed to at a later date, as an administrator can make changes to the data, which reflects on calculations that are worked out from this saved data. When going back over this saved data we need to be able to see all the information submitted for that particular calculation, so if that data has changed we will see what is was relating to that calculation. Now we have thought about maybe a snapshot when the calculation is done, pdf of the webpage or something similar would do, but is this simple to do? I hope this makes sense...

• ASP.NET MVC vs. Jquery/AJAX (Where to draw the dividing line?)

  I am learning MVC and I understand the basics now. It is very good for CRUD pages and has built in HTTP methods to post/get edits/updates. That is nice. This is all very testable by just creating a new controller and testing it. But I was thinking about other web page scenerios when using MVC. What about a page that has 2 listboxes that you add/remove users with. (A button will move the user from one listbox to another) This would be done using Jquery/Javascript... But then what happens to testing? How do you test adding/removing users from a listbox like that example? It seems to me the more jquery you use the less testable the page becomes right? When you get beyond basic forms being filled out then you need to use something more than the standard MVC pages. What is the correct philosophy on this on when am I not understanding ?

How would I set up my validations such that both belongs_to associations are required BUT also allow for Registration objects to be created in nested forms?

• Javascript opens new window despite no call

  I have a javascript that opens a new window for "PreChecking" a site. The problem is when i click the button, it works fine... but wichever i button i press next makes the method fire again, despite i doesn't call it. Its just the button with id "lnkPrecheck" that should call the method. Have searched far and wide for a slolution that just opens a new window for the lnkPrecheck button, not the others on the site. THere must be a way for only 1 of 3 buttons makes the function call, not all of them! • Can I dynamically adjust the height of a css set div border?

  Ok so I have a div that contains a few forms that have dynamically generated content. There are categories, that if you click on, slide/toggle down to reveal that categories sub-contents, or projects. Right now, I have it setup so that if the height of the div expands to exceed a set amount, a scroll bar shows up at the side, and the user can scroll down and see the content. NOW I am being asked to get rid of the scroll bar, and just have the div's border (which is just 1px set in the css) height adjust dynamically with the height of the div's content...can I even do that? Is there some sort of jquery animation that would allow that? A point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks
