• Convert arbitrary length to a value between -1.0 a 1.0?

  How can I convert a length into a value in the range -1.0 to 1.0? Example: my stage is 440px in length and accepts mouse events. I would like to click in the middle of the stage, and rather than an output of X = 220, I'd like it to be X = 0. Similarly, I'd like the real X = 0 to become X = -1.0 and the real X = 440 to become X = 1.0. I don't have access to the stage, so i can't simply center-register it, which would make this process a lot easier. Also, it's not possible to dynamically change the actual size of my stage, so I'm looking for a formula that will translate the mouse's real X coordinate of the stage to evenly fit within a range from -1 to 1.

The xmlrpc spec allows values like: <value><int>123</int></value> <value><boolean>1</boolean></value> But at the same time it requires: If no type is indicated, the type is string. Which means i could receive something like this: <value>test123</value> which is equivalent to <value><string>test123</string></value> Is there a way to define this in an xsd.

  Why does this fail, it's supposed to be simple and work ? fisier.seekg(0, ios::end); long lungime = fisier.tellg(); This returns a larger value than that of the file resulting in a wrong char *continut = new char[lungime]; Any idea what the problem could be ? I also tried counting to the end of the file one char at a time, that rendered the same result, a higher number than expected. But upon using getline() to read one line at a time, it works, there are no extra spaces... Thank you

• Modifying value of "Rating" column within Explorer for arbitrary file types.

  Basically, I have a large body of assorted media (text, images, flash files, archives, folders, etc...) and I'm attempting to organize it. Windows Explorer has a rating column, but there seems to be no way to modify the rating of the files short of opening them in their type-specific software (e.g. Media player, or Photo viewer). However, this does not work when the file is of an unsupported type (.rar, .swf ...), or a directory. I'd be more than willing to consider a file-manager replacement (I've alreadly looked at quite a few, Directory Opus, Total Commander, etc...), or even a solution that stores the rating metadata in a hidden file in each folder, or a separate database. The one real critical requirement is the ability to sort by rating, and being filetype-agnostic. Basically, is there any way to categorize a large collection of assorted files by rating that will work with any file type, including directories? - Ideally, there would be an easy way to add arbitrary columns to windows explorer, and edit them directly. However, there seems to be no way to do this. The rating column is the next best thing.

You will see that I am not expecting the value of predQuery[preId] to be 'undefined' if I don't first get an alert saying "its unbelievable".   Hi, I want to do the following two SQL Queries in Microsoft SQL SERVER UPDATE Partnerships SET sortOrder = 2 WHERE sortOrder = 1; UPDATE Partnerships SET sortOrder = 1 WHERE sortOrder = 2; The only problem is, I don't allow for sortOrder to contain the same value, it is a unique key. How could I get around this, because the first query violates the unique key rule and terminates? Or will I have to get rid of the unique key rule I have? Thanks!

  I have the following class structure for custom UITableViewCells: NumericEntryCell - Contains method for controlling max value that can be entered into a textbox. SliderCell - inherits from NEC and contains methods for handling slider-control of textbox value TextOnlyCell - just contains a textbox CellA - inherits from SliderCell and has a max value of 28 CellB - inherits from TextOnlyCell and has a max value of 150. I want NumericEntryCell to contain a definition for a property that contains the maxValue. I want to be able to set a value for this in the initialize method of a child class (CellA or CellB). Currently I have an int maxValue declared in the interface of NEC. I declare a property for this with @property int maxValue and @synthesize it within the .m file. However, attempting to modify this property's value from CellA or CellB's initialize method has no effect - when I hit a breakpoint in the NEC method that uses this value, its value is always zero. How can I get this to work?

• Why is the value of __name__ changing after assignment to sys.modules[__name__]?

  While trying to do something similar to what's in the ActiveState recipe titled Constants in Python by Alex Martelli, I ran into an unexpected side-effect that assigning a class instance to an entry in sys.modules apparently has in Python 2.7 -- namely that doing so apparent changes the value of __name__ to None as illustrated in the following code fragment: class _test(object): pass import sys print '__name__: %r' % __name__ # __name__: '__main__' sys.modules[__name__] = _test() print '__name__: %r' % __name__ # __name__: None if __name__ == '__main__': # never executes... import test print "done" I'd like to understand why this is happening. I don't believe it was that way in Python 2.6 and earlier versions since I have some older code where apparently the if __name__ == '__main__': conditional worked as expected following the assignment (but no longer does). FWIW, I also noticed that the name _class is getting rebound from a class object to None, too, after the assignment. Also seems odd to me that they're being rebound to 'None' rather than disappearing altogether... Update: I'd like to add that any workarounds for achieving the effect of if __name__ == '__main__':, given what happens would be greatly appreciated. TIA!

  Hi I need to sum 9 cells of data, each one on a separate sheet, but always in the same location. I only want a figure returned when all the cells have data, even if it's a 0. But, if one of the cells is blank I want a blank return. I'm trying to get my head around, making it up actually, where the IFs and ISBLANK and SUMS would go.   This is not a question about how to compare two BigDecimal objects - I know that you can use compareTo instead of equals to do that, since equals is documented as: Unlike compareTo, this method considers two BigDecimal objects equal only if they are equal in value and scale (thus 2.0 is not equal to 2.00 when compared by this method). The question is: why has the equals been specified in this seemingly counter-intuitive manner? That is, why is it important to be able to distinguish between 2.0 and 2.00? It seems likely that there must be a reason for this, since the Comparable documentation, which specifies the compareTo method, states: It is strongly recommended (though not required) that natural orderings be consistent with equals I imagine there must be a good reason for ignoring this recommendation.

  I have a Movieclip on stage with nested movieclips inside. All referenced at 0,0. None of the child movieclips load any dynamic content, animate or have Masked Layers. It does have an input textfield in one of the child MCs. The parent MC shows 280 px width, while it returns 313 px with a .width trace. There is no code that alters the .width value of the parent MC at run-time. And the ParentMC on stage is not scaled (it is at 100% width/height). Any pointers, to what could be the reasons for the discrepancy in .width values on stage and on run-time? Its breaking the scaling code that follows.

To be more precise, one column has constant numbers all the way down, whereas the other column has varying values. So I need to count the number of times the varying column data entry values crosses the constant value on the other column. • How do I prevent users from entering a blank value in an Excel sheet?

  I want to restrict users to entering either just 0 or 1 in an Excel 2007 sheet. I use the Data Data Validation dialog to do this, but I'm finding that it doesn't stop them from entering blanks. What I would like is for there to be a prompt when they enter blanks, just like the one that appears when they enter any other non-blank data that is not 0 or 1. I plan to fill the sheet with 0s before applying the validation, so there should not be a problem with erroneous data. Also, I'm open to using VBA to fix this problem.

  I have created vertical TabItems with a Path object. The selected TabItem overlaps the unselected TabItems, this works fine. The overlapping is done by setting a negative margin in the TabItem Template. For the unselected TabItems right now a TabItem is overlapped by the TabItem below. For example in the picture Tab 4 overlaps Tab 3 and Tab 3 overlaps Tab 2. I would like to change the overlapping order for the unselected Tab Items, so that an unselected TabItem overlaps the TabItem below and is overlapped by the TabItem above, e.g. Tab 2 overlaps Tab 3 and Tab 3 overlaps Tab 4. I have tried to set the FlowDirection property of TabPanel, but this doesn't work. How can I achieve this? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance! In my MainWindow.xaml I can see the "My Input" in the text box of the user control but I can't ever seem to get it out of there.

• jQuery trigger function on change

  I have the following two slider functions which work well and display like so: I have diskAmount and transferAmount stored in global vars, however what I am now trying to figure out is how do I get the sum of the two to initially show as the monthly fee, and then update when either of the two sliders are changed. So in my screenshot above the initial state will be $24.75, and the fee will update if the sliders change. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
