I hear the alarm only time. alarmManager.setRepeating(AlarmManager.RTC_WAKEUP, System.currentTimeMillis() + (12 * 1000), 3 * 1000, pendingIntent); I have also tried this, no luck: Calendar calendar = Calendar.getInstance(); calendar.setTimeInMillis(System.currentTimeMillis()); calendar.add(Calendar.SECOND, 5); alarmManager.setRepeating(AlarmManager.RTC_WAKEUP, calendar.getTimeInMillis(), 7000, pendingIntent); What is the problem?

  • Android - Looping Activity to Repeat MediaPlayer

    I'm trying to create a soundboard for longer audio files and can't figure out how to stop an audio file and start it again without closing the activity. Let's say each audio file is one minute long. If I play the first audio file for 20 seconds and start the next audio file, the first stops playing and the second starts playing. However, if I click the first audio file again, the second stops playing and the first does not. I need help.     I want to perform a query like the following: uvalue = EditText( some user value ); p_query = "select * from mytable where name_field = '" + uvalue + "'" ; mDb.rawQuery( p_query, null ); if the user enters a single quote in their input it crashes. If you change it to: p_query = "select * from mytable where name_field = \"" + uvalue + "\"" ; it crashes if the user enters a double quote in their input. and of course they could always enter both single and double quotes.

    Hi, I'm trying to build a radio player and the client is providing a stream which is a FLV container with the audio being AAC When I read the headers it shows up as audio/aacp. I have tried all possible ways such as using the 1) Streaming through mediaplayer (Does not work) 2) Use the NPR mode of using a proxy stream (I get a broken pipe exception) 3) Play it in chunks ( Plays but I need the SDCard and the playback is not very great) 4) Use the GPL'd FAAD2 Library but I would have to pay the royalty fee Can some one help me out on figuring this issue out. The last option that I have is to have my client change the stream to mp3 container (which I know that it works) Regards, Hari

  • Aligning Android Button To Bottom in RelativeLayout??

    I'm trying to align a button to the bottom right and bottom left of my screen, using a RelativeLayout. I want to do this to keep the same relative layout across different screen sizes. Currently the buttons on my screen move up/down depending on the resolution of the screen. 320x480 puts the buttons higher on the screen versus 480x800.   • Android SDK: Create image on touch

    Hello, I'm a bit stumped here, I'm trying to make it so an image (already in the drawable folder) gets created everytime you touch the screen and removed when the finger is lifted. I have the touch part coded already, overriding the onTouch method with a couple switch cases that handle each type of action (down, up, move, etc). But I can't for the life of me figure out how to make the image appear and then disappear with the coordinates (matrix?) of where the finger is. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    In the document for the method notifyDataSetChanged of class BaseAdapter noted that "Notifies the attached observers that the underlying data has been changed and any View reflecting the data set should refresh itself. " Supposed I changed the 3rd element in my string array (array data for the listview), what "any View reflecting the data set should refresh itself" means ? Does the 3rd view item in my list view be notified ? Also, how is notifyDataSetChanged() and getView() concerned ? Thanks in advance

    I have a custom Dialog that contains only a TextView to display some text in my application. The documentation lists that only the b, i, u, tt, big, small, sup, sub, and strike tags are supported. I really need to add some newlines for readability. Do I need to change to a more complicated layout, or is there some way to encode newlines in the resource? I tried adding br tags, but that did not help.

  • Radio Button selection Changes Toast on Android

    I was writing a simple test application. There are two radio buttons within the app. There id's are "radio_red" and "radio_blue". I wanted to create an onClickListener event that read the text associated to the button and then returned a basic "Right" or "Wrong" toast. Here is a sample of the code: private OnClickListener radio_listener = new OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View v){ RadioButton rb = (RadioButton) v; String ans = rb.getText().toString(); String an1 = ""; if (ans.trim() == "Yes") { ans = "That's Right."; } else if (ans.trim() == "No") { ans = "thats wrong."; } else { ans = "none."; } Toast.makeText(v.getContext(), ans , Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); } So far no joy. Here is my code snippet. I've checked my "main.xml" and the text associated to the buttons are referneced correctly. I added trim to make sure of that. However, all that is ever returned in the toast is "none." What am I missing? Thanks in advance for any help.

  • Android - Issue with View when set above another View while scrolling

    I've created a ScrollView with a RelativeLayout inside of it. I have a TextView aligned at the bottom of the RelativeLayout using layout_alignParentBottom="true" and a ImageView above the TextView using "layout_above". The layout works perfect when I am on a device where the display is large enough to not have to scroll up and down. When I test it on devices where you need to scroll to see the ImageView and TextView the ImageView doesn't line up above the TextView. Actually I haven't a clue where it goes because I can't see it anywhere. It might be behind the TextView. This also happens when I'm editing an EditText with the Soft Keyboard up, which causes the RelativeLayout to scroll. Anyone knows what's going on here?

    Is it possible to automatically detect, which certificate was used for signing APK? I'd like to have both debug and release Maps certificates in application and pass valid one to MapView constructor. With such setup I will not make mistake while releasing application - I'm using debug certificate on emulator and my device, then sign with release one before sending app to Market. I was thinking about detecting my particular device or whether debugger is connected but it is not perfect. Maybe some file marking need for debug certificate? Is there any better way?

    Hi, I'm using the code shown below to get an updated value for location every time a button is clicked. When my activity is resumed I get an update every second, so that when I call getLastKnownLocation I expect to have a location that have been updated in the last second. Is that the correct way to do that? I would expect the onLocationChanged event to be triggered every time I execute a 'geo fix' command (or max after 1s since I request update every 1s), but it's only triggered the first time. Why? Any help/suggestion welcome!   • Android: Is decreasing size of .png files have some effect to resulted Bitmap in memory

    I'm writing game with a large amount of .png pictures. All worked fine. Than I added new activity with WebView and got memory shortage. After that I made some experiment - replace game .png images with ones that just fully filled with some color. As result memory shortage had gone. But I suppose that Bitmap internally hold each pixel separately so such changes should have no effect. Maybe this because of initial images have alpha channel and my test images have not it? But actually question is: Will decreasing .png images files sizes make some effect on decreasing usage of VM application heap or not?
