  I have some code in which I apply a join to a list.   Hi, I am using Qt 4.5 and Windows XP. I need to create an Microsoft Excel Document that has data (some labels and values) from the Qt application. I need to format those data with some fonts,bold,italics,color, background color etc., Besides ordinary data, there will be Picture files (JPG) also. I need to add those into the Excel. I know retrieving values from Excel using QAxWidget, QAxObject. But I don't have a clue about the formatting options that can be applied to cells through Qt and adding images as well?? Any help regarding this are welcome.

• forwarding a notification to another class

  I am using this method - (void)keyboardWillShow:(NSNotification *)notification that is triggered when the keyboard shows. When this method is triggered, it receives a notification that contains several parameters about the keyboard, as the animation duration, animation curve and frame. I need to forward this notification and all its parameters to another class. So, I've tried to do this inside keyboardWillShow: [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] postNotificationName:@"doSomething" object:notification userInfo:nil]; the doSomething notification runs doSomething method on another class, and it has this form: - (void) doSomething:(NSNotification *)notification { but when I try to read the notification values on this other class, using, for example, myRect = [[[notification userInfo] objectForKey:UIKeyboardFrameEndUserInfoKey] CGRectValue]; I obtain zero for all values. The notification is losing its parameters and not being forwarded. How can I do that? thanks.

• How are integers converted to strings under the hood?

  I suppose the real question is how to convert base2/binary to base10. The most common application of this would probably be in creating strings for output: turning a chunk of binary numerical data into an array of characters. How exactly is this done? my guess: Seeing as there probably isn't a string predefined for each numerical value, I'm guessing that the computer goes through each bit of the integer from right to left, each time incrementing the appropriate values in the char array/base10 notation places. If we take the number 160 in binary (10100000), it would know that a 1 in the 8th place means 128, so it places 1 into the third column, 2 in the second, and 8 in the third. The 1 in the 6th column means 32, and it would add those values to the second and first place, carrying over if needed. After this it's an easy conversion to actual char codes.

• mysql retrieve duplicate entry

  I have a huge text file that I'm importing into a mysql database. The four important tables that I'm using are -- schools (id,name) variables (id, name) var_entries (id, var_id, data) with unique( var_id, data) data (id, school_id, var_ent_id) I have a file that I'm importing into this database. I want every variable to have a unique set of values (hence the unique call) but I also then want to associate the appropriate var_entrie with a school in data. So my question is is there a way to get the appropriate var_ent_id when you a duplicate var_entry is added? I know I can do this with storing the values and using a strcmp but it'd be messy.

• Concurrent web requests with Ruby (Sinatra?)?

  I have a Sinatra app that basically takes some input values and then finds data matching those values from external services like Flickr, Twitter, etc. For example: input:"Chattanooga Choo Choo" Would go out and find images at Flickr on the Chattanooga Choo Choo and tweets from Twitter, etc. Right now I have something like: @images = Flickr::...find...images.. @tweets = Twitter::...find...tweets... @results << @images @results << @tweets So my question is, is there an efficient way in Ruby to run those requests concurrently? Instead of waiting for the images to finish before the tweets finish. Thanks.

• Oracle Hash Cluster Overflow Blocks

  When inserting a large number of rows into a single table hash cluster in Oracle, it will fill up the block with any values that hash to that hash-value and then start using overflow blocks. These overflow blocks are listed as chained off the main block, but I can not find detailed information on the way in which they are allocated or chained. When an overflow block is allocated for a hash value, is that block exclusively allocated to that hash value, or are the overflow blocks used as a pool and different hash values can then start using the same overflow block. How is the free space of the chain monitored - in that, as data is continued to be inserted, does it have to traverse the entire chain to find out if it has some free space in the current overflow chain, and then if it finds none, it then chooses to allocate a new block?

  Hi. I've been thinking about a program logic, but I cannot draw a conclusion to my problem. For example, integer 1 and 2 is inside an array in order of writing. And if I call StackPop(), the integer 2 will be popped out, and if I call QueuePop(), the integer 1 will be popped out. My problem is that I don't know what happens if I do both stack and queue operations on the same array. The example above is easy to work out, because there are only two values involved. But what if there are more than 2 values involved? For example, if I call StackPush(1); QueuePush(2); QueuePush(4); StackPop(); StackPush(5); QueuePop(); what values will be returned in the order of bottom(front) from the final array? I know that if I code a program, I would receive a quick answer. But the reason I'm asking this is because I want to hear a logical explanations from a human being, not a computer.

  I was recently faced with a prompt for a programming algorithm that I had no idea what to do for. I've never really written an algorithm before, so I'm kind of a newb at this. The problem said to write a program to determine all of the possible coin combinations for a cashier to give back as change based on coin values and number of coins. For example, there could be a currency with 4 coins: a 2 cent, 6 cent, 10 cent and 15 cent coins. How many combinations of this that equal 50 cents are there? The language I'm using is C++, although that doesn't really matter too much. edit: This is a more specific programming question, but how would I analyze a string in C++ to get the coin values? They were given in a text document like 4 2 6 10 15 50 (where the numbers in this case correspond to the example I gave)

• SQL Server view: how to add missing rows using interpolation

  Running into a problem. I have a table defined to hold the values of the daily treasury yield curve. It's a pretty simple table used for historical lookup of values. There are notibly some gaps in the table on year 4, 6, 8, 9, 11-19 and 21-29. The formula is pretty simple in that to calculate year 4 it's 0.5*Year3Value + 0.5*Year5Value. The problem is how can I write a VIEW that can return the missing years? I could probably do it in a stored procedure but the end result needs to be a view.

  I have an action defined like so: public ActionResult Foo(int[] bar) { ... } Url's like this will work as expected: .../Controller/Foo?bar=1&bar=3&bar=5 I have another action that does some work and then redirects to the Foo action above for some computed values of bar. Is there a simple way of specifying the route values with RedirectToAction or ActionLink so that the url's get generated like the above example?   I would like to submit a data frame to a function and use it to subset another data frame. This is the basic data frame: foo <- data.frame(var1= c('1', '1', '1', '2', '2', '3'), var2=c('A', 'A', 'B', 'B', 'C', 'C')) I use the following function to find out the frequencies of var2 for specified values of var1. foobar <- function(x, y, z){ a <- subset(x, (x$var1 == y)) b <- subset(a, (a$var2 == z)) n=nrow(b) return(n) } Examples: foobar(foo, 1, "A") # returns 2 foobar(foo, 1, "B") # returns 1 foobar(foo, 3, "C") # returns 1 This works. But now I want to submit a data frame of values to foobar. Instead of the above examples, I would like to submit df to foobar and get the same results as above (2, 1, 1) df <- data.frame(var1=c('1','1','3'), var2=c("A", "B", "C")) When I change foobar to accept two arguments like foobar(foo, df) and use y[, c(var1)] and y[, c(var2)] instead of the two parameters x and y it still doesn't work. Which way is there to do this?

• Bind selected value on combobox to view model

  Hi, I have my silverlight app which pulls data into a datagrid from a view model. The vm is exposed via Mef. I also have a details grid which has comboboxes. The vm also contains the data to populate the combobox values. Upon first load, everything works fine and the selected items on te comboboxes are correct and I can select alternative values. However, if I sort my main data grid (allow sort=true) then I find the binding for selected value on the comboboxes dissapear. The combobox is still populated with data but nothing is selected. Has anyone come across this issue before? I am unsure how to solve this one. Thanks

• Android: dynamically setting links to text in strings.xml

  I'm trying to make an app with localisation built in, but I want a way that I can create a web link within the text, the URL being defined elsewhere (for ease of maintenance). So, I have my links in res/values/strings.xml: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <resources> ... <string name="link1">http://some.link.com</string> <string name="link2">http://some.link2.com</string> </resources> and my localised text in res/values-en-rGB/strings.xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <resources> ... <string name="sampleText">Sample text\nMore text and link1\nMore text and link2.</string> </resources> I've not tested this bit, but from the localization section of developer.android.com it says that this approach to reducing content duplication should work, although I'm not sure what folder I should put Italian, for example. Would it be in 'res/values-it-rIT/strings.xml'? Lets assume that I have various other languages too. I'm looking for a way of taking the base localised 'sampleText' and inserting my html links in, and getting them to work when clicked on. I've tried two approaches so far: 1, Putting some formatting in the 'sampleText' (%s): <string name="sampleText">Sample text\nMore text and <a href="%s">link1</a>\nMore text and <a href="%s">link2</a>.</string> and then processing the text like this: TextView tv = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.textHolder); tv.setText(getResources().getString(R.string.sampleText, getResources().getString(R.string.link1), getResources().getString(R.string.link2))); But this didn't work when I click on the link, even though the link text is being put in to the correct places. 2, I tried to use Linkify but the regular expression route may be difficult as I'm looking at supporting non-Latin based languages. I tried to put a custom xml tag around the link text and then do something like this: Pattern wordMatcher = Pattern.compile("<span1>.*</span1>"); String viewURL = "content://" + getResources().getString(R.string.someLink); Linkify.addLinks(tv, wordMatcher , viewURL ); But this didn't work either. So, I'd like to know if there's a way of dynamically adding multiple URLs to different sections of the same text which will link to web content? Thank you, Martyn

• Cloned Cached item has memory issues

  Hi there, we are having values stored in Cache-Enterprise library Caching Block. The accessors of the cached item, which is a List, modify the values. We didnt want the Cached Items to get affected. Hence first we returned a new List(IEnumerator of the CachedItem) This made sure accessors adding and removing items had little effect on the original Cached item. But we found, all the instances of the List we returned to accessors were ALIVE! Object relational Graph showed a relationship between this list and the EnterpriseLibrary.CacheItem. So we changed the return to be a newly cloned List. For this we used a LINQ say (from item in Data select new DataClass(item) ).ToList() even when you do as above, the ORG shows there is a relationship between this list and the CacheItem. Cant we do anything to create a CLONE of the List item which is present in the Enterprise library cache, which DOESNT have ANY relationship with CACHE?!

• How do I mix functions in complex SSRS expressions?

  I'm writing a report against a data repository that has null values within some of the columns. The problem is building expressions is as temperamental as a hormonal old lady and doesn't like my mixing of functions. Here's an expression I've written that does not work if the data in the field is null/nothing: =IIF( IsNumeric(Fields!ADataField.Value), RunningValue( IIF( DatePart("q", Fields!CreatedOn.Value) = "2", Fields!ADataField.Value, 0 ), Sum, Nothing ), Sum(0) ) (Pseudocode) "If the data is valid and if the data was created in the second quarter of the year, add it to the overall Sum, otherwise, add zero to the sum." Looks pretty straight forward. And the individual pieces of the expression work by themselves. IE: IsNumeric(), DatePart(), etc. But when I put them all together, the expression throws an error. I've attempted about every permutation of what's shown above, all to no avail. Null values in Fields!ADataField.Value cause errors. Thoughts?

  I noticed this question was asked, but it has not been answered correctly. I have a datatable that has two columns start date and end date. Both contain primefaces p:calendar controls in them. I need to ensure that for each row that the date in column1 is not after the date in column2. I would like to tie this into the JSF validation framework, but I'm having trouble. i've tried marking the datatable rowStatePreserved="true" , this allows me to get the values, but something is still wrong as when it fails, all the values in the first row overwrite all the other values. • Microsoft Access and Java JDBC-ODBC Error

  Trying to insert some values in a Microsoft access database using java. I can an error however, java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] The specified DSN contains an architecture mismatch between the Driver and Application Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NullPointerException To create the data source im using SysWoW64 odbcad32 and adding it the datasource to system DNS. I say this as i have seen else where there are problems which occur with 64bit systems. However it still doesn't work for me.
