• apache domain redirect to subfolder

  I have a hosting account with godaddy. Its a linux system running apache. The way they do their setup is your primary domain is the root folder. When you add a subdomain its in a subfolder of the root which sucks. I want to setup a subfolder structure to organize my domains.. I called godday support and they said to use redirects.. but did not know how to do that.. How its setup now: primary domain: www.domain.com / sub.domain.com /sub I want to create a directory structure and then redirect to each but only show www.domain.com in the url www.domain.com /domain/www sub.domain.com /domain/sub I tried using: RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^(www.)?domain.com$ RewriteRule ^(/)?$ domain/www [L] but it just changes the url to www.domain.com/domain/www Can this be done in htaccess?

• What's the best platform for blogging about coding ?

  I'm toying with starting an occasional blog for posting odd bits of coding related stuff (mainly C++, probably). Are there any platforms which can be recommended as providing exceptionally good support (e.g syntax highlighting) for posting snippets of code ? (Or any to avoid because posting mono-spaced font blocks of text is a pain). Outcome: I accepted Josh K's answer because what I actually ended up doing was realizing I was more interested in articles than a blog style, getting back into LaTeX (after almost 20 years away from it), using the "listings" package for code, and pushing the HTML/PDF results to my ISP's static-hosting pages. (HTML generated using tex4ht). Kudos to the answers mentioning Wordpress, Tumblr and Jekyll; I spent some time looking into all of them.

  I have seen some developers use hosted scripts to link their libraries. cdn.jquerytools.org is one example. I have also seen people complain that a hosted script link has been hijacked. How safe is using hosted scripts in reality? Are the scripts automatically updated? For example, if jQuery 5 goes to 6 do I automatically get version 6 or do I need to update my link? I also see that Google has a large set of these scripts setup for hosting. What are the pros and cons?

Celle-ci vient de Chine, et affirme que Microsoft prévoirait de sortir la prochaine version d'Internet Explorer avec Windows 8. Les deux programmes seraient même liés, puisque le navigateur serait intégré à l'OS. De plus, comme ce système à venir devrait logiquement être recentré sur le Cloud Computing et optimisé pour les tablettes (voir les news précédentes), il semble logique à certains de dire que IE10 sera tactile. • Default User Id at Login different from User Name in Terminal Shell

  During the Ubuntu 12.04 LTS installation, I was prompted to enter a user name and password, so that a corresponding account could be created and set up for login. I replaced the one that was provided by default (i.e. '70319', which is the Windows 7 admin id) with a user name/id of my choosing. Now, when I turn on the computer, and choose to enter the Ubuntu operating system, the login id that is displayed is 70319 - that is, the one provided by Windows 7. However, when I open up a Unix/Terminal shell, the user id that is displayed at the prompt is the one I entered during installation. Otherwise, the installation of Ubuntu was a success! Is there some way of changing the user id that is displayed at the Login screen, so that it is consistent with the one I entered during installation? If it's any help, I installed Ubuntu using wubi on an ASUS Eee PC 1011PX running Windows 7, and ASUS Express Gate Cloud. • svn vs git for the sole developer? [closed]

  If I am sole developer (I do not work in a team) working from my laptop (Windows OS and Linux VM) and backing up data to the cloud (Dropbox etc), then is git still better than svn for my version control needs? I was thinking not since I wont need any of git's distributed features. But is git such a better approach to version control that I should consider moving anyway? With so many articles saying how people are moving from svn to git? I was wondering, if they are talking about large or open projects with teams of developers vs the sole developer. What do you think?

• How can I play AMR files in Firefox on Ubuntu?

  I use Evernote to keep voice and text notes. Unfortunately, I've just discovered that I can't take full advantage of the cloud storage capabilities of Evernote, because support for Android's native sound file format, AMR, is deficient in Ubuntu. When I view my voice notes in Firefox in Ubuntu, I get a "missing plugin" error. The problem is discussed on the Evernote forums, but the solutions offered there are really lacking. They all involve saving and converting files, which seems like an unreasonable amount of fiddling. Surely an AMR file is just a sound file, and surely Ubuntu could (and should) have a way of playing it? There is some suggestion that Media Player can play AMR format, and I thought there was a Media Player plugin for Firefox. But I can not find any specifics. How can I get Ubuntu to play AMR file directly in Firefox in Ubuntu?

• The entire content of my Wordpress page has disappeared

  I have a blog installed on my site using Wordpress. Last week I upgraded Wordpress from 2.6 to 3.0.4 (I had to do this manually). All went well, or so I thought, but I have just noticed that the content of an existing page has vanished. The page URL still works, but all content has disappeared - doctype, html tags, body tags, everything. Please note, this is specific to pages - posts are still displaying fine. I have since created a brand new page which does not display the content either. Things I have tried include Switching to a freshly installed theme Deactivating all plugins Setting the problem page to draft, and back again Deleting the .htaccess file I suspect it's a database problem and have contacted my hosting company who have said the only thing they can do is restore the DB from a backup, but that I should consider it a last resort. Does anyone have any further ideas what to try?

  My website is hosted in shared hosting service and is working fine with updated news stored in MySQL database. To manage the database of website, I install phpMyAdmin in a sub-folder with the same username and password used in website. When I login to phpMyAdmin, I don't see my database. phpMyAdmin is showing "No databases" in left pane. Is there any thing I need to configure in phpMyAdmin? Edited: This is the settings in config.inc.php.
