  • How can I find the boundaries of a subset of a sorted list?

    I have the following dilemma: I have a list of strings, and I want to find the set of string which start with a certain prefix. The list is sorted, so the naive solution is this: Perform binary search on the prefixes of the set, and when you find an element that starts with the prefix, traverse up linearly until you hit the top of the subset. This runs in linear time, however, and I was wondering if anyone can suggest a more efficient way to do it.

    I'm trying to make a page scroll down 150px from the current position when an element is clicked. So lets say you're roughly halfway scrolled down a page. You click this link, and it will slide you down an additional 150 pixels. Is this possible with jQuery? I've been looking at scrollTop and the scrollTo plugin, but I can't seem to connect the dots.

I want to add some style to head tag in html page using javascript. var h = document.getElementsByTagName('head').item(0); h.innerHTML += '<style>a{font-size:100px;}</style>'; But when I run this code in IE8 I see this error message: Could not set the innerHTML property. Invalid target element for this operation. Any ideas?

    When I use the annotation: @XmlRootElement(name="RootElement", namespace="namespace") class RootElement { to create xml file from java, it creates the root element as: <ns2:RootElement xmlns:ns2="namespace"> but I wanted to create without the "ns2", like: <RootElement xmlns="namespace"> Any idea how to fix it? I have a listing and can find the address and location in the code where I check to see if I have a head, so I know the specific code location and address.     hey, i have this path name from an input element interesse[angebote][flurfuerderfahrzeuge] as a string in my php var. now i need convert it somehow (with regex or explode()) so it looks like this: $_POST['interesse']['angebote']['flurfuerderfahrzeuge'] and the use eval() to get the value. But I'm sure there must be a much easier way do this. Any ideas? Thanks!

This is so that I can output the same file with values dynamically input by the user. the XamlReader.Load() method cannot be used; it will throw an exception (because they are unable to recognise Window as the root element). I'm using VS2013 and C#.

    have file data of format 3.343445 1 3.54564 1 4.345535 1 2.453454 1 and so on upto 1000 lines and i have number given such as a=2.44443 for the given file i need to find the row number of the numbers in file which is most close to the given number "a" how can i do this i am presently doing by loading whole file into list and comparing each element and finding the closest one any other better faster method?
