• Iphone memory leak with malloc

  Hello. I have memory leak, found by instruments and it is supposed to be in this line of code: indices = malloc( sizeof(indices[0]) * totalQuads * 6); This is actually a code snippet from a tutorial, something which i think is leak-free so to say. Now I reckon, the error is somewhere else, but I do not know, where. • Replace existing XML file within iPhone app

  Hey, I have an .xml file that is going to be shipped within my app. This file contains values that are read from it and saved as an array when the app launches. Each time the app is run, I want to check with the server if there is an internet connection. If so, I want to get the newest version of the .xml file from the server and replace the one that I currently have saved in my app (this way, the next time the user logs in and doesn't have internet access, he/she will be able to use the old (yet most up to date) data). • Iphone SDK on Windows (alternative solutions)

  I know there is no official SDK for windows, which is very annoying. Is there any way to develop applications on a windows computer, other than somehow running a mac os in vmware? I know you can do it with Xcode, but that is also only for macs. Google searches have revealed absolutely nothing...... If I cannot use the SDK or Xcode, any way I can just check syntax or something and just make my code in Notepad and save it with the proper extension? I have no idea whether or not I would be able to do that, probably because I have never even tried the SDK and probably never will without buying a mac.

• IPhone - Memory Management problems.

  i am going over my code and trying to get a handle on proper memory management. This code: imageView = [[[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:myImage] autorelease]; causes my application to crash. I am using multiple view controllers within a nav bar controller. The app works fine, i cant select a person from the first view controller (tableview) and it puts me to a list of that persons photos, i can then select a photo from that view controller (tableview) and move to a final view with a scrollview for viewing the photo. Once i hit back on the navbar the previous view loads (list of photos in a tableview) however the app crashes right before the row is deselected using this code: (void)viewDidAppear:(BOOL)animated { [super viewDidAppear:animated]; if(RowSelected != nil) { [MainTableView deselectRowAtIndexPath:RowSelected animated:YES]; } } Row selected is stored when a the user clicks a row. If i leave the code as : imageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:myImage]; The app runs fine. Am i doing something wrong? do i not need to autorelease this? Thanks!

• iPhone screen rotates at random !

  I use a tabBar Controller as root controller. It has 4 tabs and each of its ViewControllers has - (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)toInterfaceOrientation { return YES; } as long as the tabBarController itself. But when I rotate the device (real or simulator), the screen turns at random! If it doesn't turn when I open the application it would have the same behavior until I quit the app. I tried to add the 4 viewControllers one by one in IB to see if one was problematic, but I obtained the same issue. It only always works when there is no tabs at all! Please tell me if you have any ideas. Thanks!

• iphone float vs integer rounding?

  Okay, from what I understand, an integer that is a fraction will be rounded one way or the other so that if a formula comes up with say 5/6 - it will automatically round it to 1. I have a calculation: xyz = ((1300 - [abc intValue])/6) + 100; xyz is defined as an NSInteger, abc is an NSString that is chosen via a UIPicker. I want the calculation (1300 - [abc intValue]) to add 1 to 100 for each 6 units below 1300. For example, 1255 should result in xyz having a value of 100 and 1254 should result in a value of 101. Now, I understand that my formula above is wrong because of the rounding principles, but I am getting some CRAZY results from the program itself. When I punched in 1259 - I got 106. When I punched in 1255 - I got 107. Why would it behave that way?

  I have a verb conjugation app that displays verb translations in the first cell of a table. At present the translation list is just a string (comma-separated list) but I'd like to change it to have clickable buttons. I had a play around adding buttons to the cell view without too much success but my only experience with custom cells has been using specific positioning so I'm unsure as to how to achieve a dynamic list of buttons (varying widths) within a cell. There is nothing that I can release, and I am using not even 7MB of memory...driving me crazy...any advice please?

• iPhone - UIScrollView is scrolling before UIDatePicker that is placed inside it

  Hello, I have a UIDatePicker inside a UIScrollView. But the UIDatePicker does not respond to scroll touches. It's the scrollview that is scrolling. Reading some docs on the net, I've set "Delay Content Touches" to NO, an now I see the datepicker starting a slight scroll, but it's still the scrollview that take the final word. I have some place on the screen where the user can touch to scroll the view. So how may I separate the two kind of scrolls ans make the datepicker scroll in a normal way ? Thank you for your help

• IPhone: different system timers??

  I have been using mach_absolute_time() for all my timing functions so far. calculating how long between frames ect. I now want to get the exact time touch input events happen using event.timestamp in the touch callbacks. the problem is these two seem to use completely different timers. sure, you can get them both in seconds, but their origins are different and seemingly random... is there any way to sync the two different timers? or is there anyway to get access to the same timer that the touch input uses to generate that timestamp property? otherwise its next to useless.

  Hello, I would like to be able to display a UIImage from within my app and support a lot of the functionality available in the built-in Photos app (i.e., pinch-to-zoom, pan, etc). I don't really want to write a bunch of code that someone has already written, so I'm wondering if there is a library out there already that I could just import into my project. I'm aware of the Three20 project, but I don't want to import a huge library if I don't have to. Is anyone aware of an available library that's already out there for displaying UIImages? • keep keyboard open when deleting/inserting UITableView's cell (iphone)

  I have a login form using a UITableView. One of the cells has a UISwitch which when on will delete the row above it and when off reinsert it. But the first cell automatically has the keyboard up when the cell is created (basically when the view loads) (by using [cell becomeFirstResponder];) Inserting/deleting any of the cells means that the keyboard animates out and then animates back in. I'd like to remove this so the keyboard stays up while rows are deleted/inserted.

  Hi, I want to store / save personal preference settings like Email, Phone number for an App. I have few forms which send info by Email to my ID. I want to know the Email & Phone number of user so I can contact this person if need be. I don't want users to keep entering their Email ID & Phone No. everytime in each form. It's wise to take these inputs (Email & Phone) just once per device / per App installed on the device. I am trying to use .plist for this purpose. I have no success. How do I do it?
