I've checked against black lists and the ip and domain are clean. 1and1 are saying its Barracuda black list and barracuda are saying its not blacklisted and that its somethign with 1and1 server. section from log file...   Content Highlights Our Application Composer series had fresh articles on the related internal data model and lots more on Groovy, including how to manipulate your data and a useful table showing you when and where groovy scripting can be used. For those just getting started with Fusion Applications user security, this article gave some handy examples to get your going. Jani's Java Cloud Service series continued strongly, with examples of integration using ADFbc, a Web Service Proxy client, and the ADF Data Control. From Other Teams The Oracle A-Team provided a broad set of articles during May, with various topics related to Fusion Applications including patching and performance management for on-premises deployments, and generic content on both integration and data extraction via web services. As part of their presentation to Oracle Israel User Group, our AppsUX colleagues explained the fresh new type of interface to Oracle Sales, through the voice mobile apps. This was in addition to demonstrations of the newer Release 8 Simplified UI customization options. Finally Angelo, our colleague in Platform Technical Services, explained in his blog how to use the findCriteria element included in all Oracle Sales web services to reduce the data returned, making response payloads much more specific, lightweight and therefore usable. Events and Announcements Oliver explained in this post about the new set of code samples on OTN for extending Sales Cloud using Oracle Platform as a Service. In addition, a new set of cloud developer documentation was released to provide more guided-learning on extending Oracle Sales Cloud with Oracle Platform as a Service (PaaS) services. • SQL Server Agent refuses to start

  I'm having a problem with SQL Server 2005 where the SQL Server Agent suddenly refuses to start. If I attempt to start it through Services, I get the error "SQL Server Agent (MSSQLSERVER) service on Local Computer started and then stopped." In the Application log, I have the following entry: Event Type: Error Event Source: SQLSERVERAGENT Event Category: Service Control Event ID: 103 Date: 5/20/2010 Time: 11:07:07 AM User: N/A Computer: SHAREPOINT Description: SQLServerAgent could not be started (reason: Unable to connect to server 'SHAREPOINT'; SQLServerAgent cannot start). This database has been running fine for four months. It contains a SharePoint configuration database, which two days ago stopped working, throwing me a message that the configuration database cannot be reached. It was then that I realized the SQL Server Agent was not running, and I have been unable to restart it. I have tried running it with both the local system account and the network service account, with the same results. So far, I have tried: Granting the administrators group, network service, and SharePoint SQL Server Agent account public and sysadmin roles on the database. Granting the administrators group, network service, and SharePoint SQL Server Agent account full permissions to the entire MSSQL directory and all files within. I still have no joy.

• How can I recover from SharePoint configuration errors after promoting the server to a Domain Controller?

  I have a SharePoint 2010 VM setup in VirtualBox and I was using local machine accounts to handle security on the server. While preparing for a demo it came time to have some meaningful users on my VM image. I followed some docs on promoting my server to a Domain Controller in a new forrest. So now I have [MachineName].SPDEMO.CONTOSO.com and I can add users as needed. However, when I try to connect to my SharePoint sites I am getting a white screen with the error: "Cannot connect to the configuration database" I changed the pool identity account of each of my IIS app pools to the new Administrator account and started the services successfully but I can't get the SQL services to start up. When I try to start them I get the following error: Windows could not start the SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) on Local Computer. For more information, review the System Event Log. If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to service-specific error code 17058. In the event log I see the following error: The SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) service terminated with service-specific error %%17058. Can I recover from this or should I roll back or just uninstall the Domain Controller role. I'd like to keep the server as a standalone DC so I can do some user profile creation/management but I need the SharePoint bits to work as well.

  How do you find the cause of httpd errors in Fedora 16? The new systemctl command in Fedora 16 seems to horribly obscure any useful logging info. [root@host ~]# systemctl start httpd.service Job failed. See system logs and 'systemctl status' for details. Where's the actual error? • Getting VSFTP running on Fedora 14

  Having troubles getting VSFTPD running on Fedora 14. Here is what I have done so far, please let me know if I am missing something. When I try to connect through FTP it says connection time out. Installed VSFTP with yum yum install vsftpd Edited config file vi /etc/vsftpd/vsftpd.conf Started service and made sure it would always start up service vsftpd start chkconfig vsftpd on Added and configured a new user /usr/sbin/useradd upload /usr/bin/passwd upload usermod -c "This user cannot login to a shell" -s /sbin/nologin upload Added firewall rules iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 21 -j ACCEPT iptables -A OUTPUT -p tcp --sport 20 -j ACCEPT service iptables save service iptables restart Checked netstat (In reply to comment below) tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:21 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 23752/vsftpd

  Win2003 Ports 20 & 21 are open IIS6 - Direct Metabase Edit enabled Configured FTP service passive range to 5500-5550 5500-5550 added to windows firewall iisreset and double checked by restarting ftp service nothing has changed, when I connect and enter passive, it still hangs when ever I try to LIST or transfer files. Can anyone see anything wrong with my windows ftp client example? why would it hang on ls, i tried QUOTE LIST as well, and that just hangs, and the windows ftp client doesnt work in active, it hangs if I try to go "binary" then put - This worked before I added 5500-5550 on the router. I have since added this range to the router but no difference to the windows ftp client.

Any domain account that logs on to my 2008 machine gets a +- 20 second waiting time on "user profile service" I am using roaming profiles, they are around 8mb in size, and most folders are already redirected to a network share. event log registers no errors, there is more than 1 network card installed, but I have the correct card listed as "primary" Is there any way to increase verbosity of logging on specifically the "user profile service" ? • Internal Data Masking

  By default, the data in the product is unmasked for authorized users. If particular data within the object is considered a candidate for data masking then the masking capabilities with the product can be used to mask the data in an appropriate fashion. The inbuilt Data Masking capabilities of the Oracle Utilities Application Framework uses a number of configuration elements: An algorithm, of type F1-MASK, is specified to configure the elements of the data masking including the masking character, number of suffix characters left unmasked, characters to ignore in the string, the application service, security type and authorization levels applicable to the mask. A Data Masking Feature Configuration is created to define where the algorithm applies. The specification of the feature allows you to define the fields to encrypt using the configured algorithm. The algorithm can be attached to a schema field, table field, characteristic, search field and even a child record (such as an identifier). The appropriate user groups are then connected to the application services with the appropriate service types and level to indicate whether the masking applies to the user group or not. For example, say there is a field called CCNBR in the product which holds the credit card details. I would create an algorithm, say CCformatCC, to mask the credit card number with the last few digits as unmasked (as the standard in most systems dictate). I would specify on the Field Mask the following: field="CCNBR", alg="CMformatCC" On the algorithm CMfomatCC, I would specify the mask, application service, security type and the authorization level which users would see the credit card unmasked. To finish the configuration off and to implemention I would connect the appropriate user groups to the application service I specified with the security type and appropriate authorization level for that group. Whenever a user accesses the CCNBR field on any of the maintenance screens, searches and other screens that use the CCNBR meta data definition would then be masked according to the user group that the user was a member of. Refer to the documentation supplied with F1-MASK algorithm type entry for more examples of what is possible.

• Two Cloudy Observations from Oracle OpenWorld

  Now that the dust has settled from another amazing Oracle OpenWorld, I wanted to reflect back on a couple of key observations I made during the event. First, it was pretty clear that Cloud was again a big deal at this year's conference. It was hard to not notice that Oracle continues to be "all-in" with respect to cloud computing. Just to give you an idea of the emphasis on Cloud, there were over 300 Cloud-related sessions at this year's OpenWorld. If you caught some of the demo booths in the Oracle Red Lounge, then you saw some of the great platform, application, and social services that are now part of Oracle Cloud, as well as numerous demos of private cloud products that Oracle offers. Second, during Thomas Kurian's keynote presentation on Oracle Cloud, he announced the Preview Availability of a new service called Oracle Developer Cloud Service. This new platform service will provide developers with instant access to environments to better manage the application development lifecycle in the cloud. It provides development project teams access to favorite tools like Hudson, Git, Github, wikis, and tasks to help make innovation faster, more collaborative, and more effective. • Sharepoint Server 2007 generates event log entry every 5 minutes - "The SSP Timer Job Distribution L

  I get the following error logged into the Event Log every 5 minutes: The SSP Timer Job Distribution List Import Job was not run. Reason: Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer In addition, OWSTimer.exe periodically gets into a state where its consuming almost all the CPU and only killing the process or restarting the Sharepoint services fixes it (although I'm not sure if this is a related or seperate issue). I have tried the following (based on various suggestions floating around the web), all to no avail: iisreset (no affect) Added the Sharepoint and Sharepoint Search service accounts to Log on as a batch job and Log on as a service policies in the Group Policies for the domain. I went into the Local Computer Policy on the Sharepoint server and verified that those policies had actually been applied Verified that the Sharepoint and Sharepoint Search service accounts are both in the WSS_WPG group Verified in dcomcnfg that the WSS_WPG group (and indeed the Sharepoint and Sharepoint search service accounts) has local activation rights for SPSearch. • Upstart: cannot run as root

  I have made this upstart script, which starts a Node.js service. But all of the sudden the service has stopped, and upstart has failed to restart it. Now that I am trying to start it manually, it fails to recognize my service: start: Unknown job: queue The script is properly placed in /etc/init, and should have the correct rights: -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 200 Aug 7 13:30 queue.conf When I check the config file with init-checkconf however, it says that it is not able to run as root: root@production1:~# init-checkconf /etc/init/queue.conf ERROR: cannot run as root What causes this error and how do I solve it? • Nagios3 check_httpname gives 503 response; from command line I get a 200 response

  We're using Nagios to monitor our site (and a bunch of other stuff.) For some odd reason, when I test out the command /usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_http -H 'domainname.com' the response that comes back is HTTP/1.1 200 OK but when I set up the service to do it: # Check that domain is running define service { hostgroup_name hostgroup service_description host site check_command check_httpname!domainname.com use generic-service notification_interval 1; set > 0 if you want to be renotified } the response that comes back is HTTP/1.1 503 Service Unavailable. Does anyone know why this would be happening?

• Increase Timeout for remote sessions in Debian 5 Lenny

  I always get a remote connection time out when using PuTTy and also when i send emails with attachments from a mail sever installed on Debian. I always get this error. • HTTP Error: 413 Request Entity Too Large

  What I have: I have an iPhone app that sends HTTP POST requests (XML format) to a web service written in PHP. This is on a hosted virtual private server so I can edit httpd.conf and other files on the server, and restart Apache. The problem: The web service works perfectly as long as the request is not too large, but around 1MB is the limit. After that, the server responds with: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//IETF//DTD HTML 2.0//EN"> <html><head> <title>413 Request Entity Too Large</title> </head><body> <h1>Request Entity Too Large</h1> The requested resource<br />/<br /> does not allow request data with POST requests, or the amount of data provided in the request exceeds the capacity limit. </body></html> The web service writes its own log file, and I can see that small messages are processed fine. Larger messages are not logged at all so I guess that something in Apache rejects them before they even reach the web service? Things I've tried without success: (I've restarted Apache after every change. These steps are incremental.) hosting provider's web-based configuration panel: disable mod_security httpd.conf: LimitXMLRequestBody 0 and LimitRequestBody 0 httpd.conf: LimitXMLRequestBody 100000000 and LimitRequestBody 100000000 httpd.conf: SecRequestBodyLimit 100000000 At this stage, Apache's error.log contains a message: ModSecurity: Request body no files data length is larger than the configured limit (1048576) It looks like my step #4 didn't really take, which is consistent with step #1 but does not explain why mod_security appears to be active after all. What more can I try, to get the web service to receive large messages?

• Gwibber only launches sometimes

  I face this problem where Gwibber only launches sporadically. Sometimes when I click it to launch, it launches and then other times it doesn't. I can't seem to figure out what is preventing it from launching and what sort of information I need to collect, also where to collect it from to make a bug report. I have killed the gwibber-service processes in the System Monitor "it loads three processes called gwibber-service, is this normal" several times and tried to launch Gwibber again, but this doesn't seem to work. The process just called gwibber starts, then the three gwibber-service processes start, then the gwibbber process ends and the three gwibber-service processes remain but the application is still not launching. Generally, I want to know are other people facing the same problem. If someone can give me some guidance on how to triage this problem and get the information need to make a bug report I would be grateful. The upside to this though is at least when it is not launching it is preventing me from wasting endless hours reading my streams on Identi.ca and Twitter, so it is a bit Workrave for microblogging. In which case maybe I shouldn't fix this problem :-)

  I'm trying to setup OpenVPN Access Server on a VPS running ubuntu 9.10 for a friend so she can play games from her uni campus. The problem is I keep running into this error when trying to start openvpn. I'm not very experience with linux and I feel in over my head here so any advice is greatly appreciated. --edit-- Just stumbled across this Not sure how I missed it earlier. I believe I need to get modprobe ipt_mark & modprobe ipt_MARK run on the hostnode by my provider. Is this correct and something I should try get done.

• How do you do a keyword search the Services.msc (mmc) window in Windows 7?

  When you want to run a service, you have very limited capabilities, in all current Windows versions, as far as I can tell. I usually start Services by typing "services.msc" into the Start-Run box, on most versions of Windows, this works. I know how to click the "Name" column in the MMC view of Windows Services. If you know what the first few characters of a service name is, you can usually sort by the name, and type the prefix to scroll the list down (find Windows Search for example). This seems pretty weak to me, so I spent some time searching the interwebs for tools that do a better job of managing services. Usually I have a keyword that I know "fooWare" might be the keyword, and I need to find the (usually badly named) service and start it and stop it. This is often WAY too hard. The best I could do is "NET SERVICES" from the command line, and maybe add a grep in there, but that doesn't list every service, only a few of them. And the MMC snap-in in Win7 now has an Export List button, exporting to csv text file feature which I have used from time to time, to export and then search. I have thought of writing my own tool. I'm hoping a better "service manager" utility exists out there that sysadmins use. I'd like a search box at the top right corner, kind of the same way that the Add-Remove-Programs dialog in Win7 and Vista has a search facility. Does such a services utility exist out there?

• ESXi boot time with 9 iSCSI targets

  Our ESXi hosts have always been slow booting when it came to iscsi_vmk loaded successfully - sitting here for almost 5 minutes. In all a full server reboot takes almost 12 minutes. We have 9 iSCSI targets per host (5 SANs with redundant interfaces) configured as dynamic discovery targets. Has anyone experienced this? Can it be remedied with static discovery mode? Are there any debug steps we can work through to help diagnose this? (All our targets are accessible at boot so i'm assuming the host isn't stuck retrying to connect to a target)

• Mac keyboard shortcut to rm file

  What's the Mac keyboard shortcut to rm a file? I know command + delete sends it to trash, but I want to permanently delete it, say with command + fn + delete. UPDATE: It doesn't look like there is one. So, I want to create a service with Automator and then assign a keyboard shortcut to it from System Preferences. I can get to Automator - Service - Service receives selected files or folders in Finder.app, but how do I write the script that then runs rm -rf #{file/folder name}?
