Hi All,
I have just purchased windows 7 64bit. I entered the disk in the drive and it told me I couldn't upgrade as I am using XP so I have tried to boot from CD instead but it doesn't work. It seems to look at the disk for a few seconds and then ends up at a screen saying windows failed to start and then I hit enter and it loads windows XP again.…

I have set of DVD disks. I'd like to rip them to .mkv files, but with all information - i.e. all subtitles, and all audio tracks.
Is there any tool on Linux that I could use to do it? I found some Gentoo howto about ripping, but it requires writing shell scripts, and I'd rather use something with clickable interface.
I am on a windows network and would like to search for files and folders across all the shared folders in the network.
What is a good software/tool that can do this?
Thanks.
Being developer; I love Fiddler...
Is there similar tool/utility (preferably free) for server side tracing the web requests and the responses? I would love some utility which is fiddler like, i-e on start up you select particular IIS web site and it start tracing the requests / response (full content) for debugging purposes.

I have a 256 kbit/s Internet connection. Most often, I find that the browsing speed is too slow. Previously I was using ZoneAlarm to control Internet access by installed programs. But as it doesn't work for Windows…
Backup Exec 2010 has just dropped, and I'm about to implement a new BEWS infrastructure, complete with CALs and new central servers.
When I specced this up last year, I ignored 2010 and focused on Backup Exec 12.5, since it's a mature product. In previous experience, major released of BE had numerous technical issues and seemed to improve…
I've got four gadgets on my Windows 7 desktop. I want them to dock against the edge of the screen, such that maximized windows don't cover them (the "Always On Top" option doesn't meet my needs).
Is there a setting or tool which will allow this?
When setting up an Apache virtual host, I'll occasionally get the following error when attempting to access the site.

You don't have permission to access / on this server.
Is there any method to (or tool that will) tell me why Apache is denying access? (local rule in httpd.conf, file permissions, etc.

But I can't for some reason. How do I go about this?
I'm looking for a tool like tms (http://fernlightning.com/doku.php?id=software:misc:tms#description) that I can use to browse files on a Time Machine backup of another computer. tms is apparently "expired" and refuses to work on Snow Leopard.

What is the simplest way to send a large batch of pictures to a friend, colleague or to a group?
I know about social sites like Picasa or Facebook but not everyone in my group has an account, nor I want to make any of the pictures public.
Uploading repeated batches won't do for this and definitely sending through email won't…
