• Castle MonoRail ARDataBind trying to bind to non-existent row

  I have a shopping cart application running on MonoRail and using Castle ActiveRecord/NHibernate, and there is a ShoppingCart table and a ShoppingCartItems table, which are mapped to entities. Here's the scenario: a user adds things to the shopping cart, say 5 items, and goes to view the cart. The cart shows all 5 items. the user duplicates the tab/window and gets another tab of the same cart (call it tab B). the user removes an item from the cart, so now there are 4 items in tab B, but in the original tab A, there are still 5 items. the user goes back to tab A, and updates something in the cart and clicks the "update" button which submits the changes. my MonoRail action tries to do an ARDataBind on ShoppingCartItems using the data from the view, which includes all 5 items. when it gets to the item that the user deleted from tab B, it throws a "No row with the given identifier exists" for that item. I can't figure out if there is a way to have it not bind that row, return null, return new instance, etc.? there is an AutoLoadBehavior parameter on the ARDataBind attribute, but that appears to only affect loading of child entities, and not the root entity. regardless of which option I choose, I get the exception before control even enters the action method (except AutoLoadBehavior.Never, but that doesn't really help me). instead, I have code that calls Request.ObtainParamsNode() to pull the form nodes and parse them manually into objects, and ignores the ones that no longer exist. is there a better way? thanks.

• How to get around batch file processing limit

  I have a Windows batch file that processes all the files in a given directory. I have 206,783 files I need to process: for %%f in (*.xml) do call :PROCESS %%f goto :STOP :PROCESS :: do something with the file program.exe %1 > %1.new set /a COUNTER=%COUNTER%+1 goto :EOF :STOP @echo %COUNTER% files processed When I run the batch file, the following output is written: 65535 files processed As part of the processing, an output file is created for each file procesed, with a .new extension. When I do a dir *.new it reports 65,535 files exist. So, it appears my command environment has a hard limit on the number of files it can recognize, and that limit is 64K - 1. Is there a way to extend the command environment to manage more than 64K - 1 files? If not, would a VBScript or JavaScript be able to process all 206,783 files? I'm running on Windows 2003 server, Enterprise Edition, 32-bit. UPDATE It looks like the root cause of my issue was with the built-in Windows "extract" command for ZIP files. The files I have to process were copied from another system via a ZIP file. My server doesn't have a ZIP utility installed, just the native Windows commands. I right-clicked on the ZIP file, and did an "Extract all...", which apparently just extracted the first 65,535 files. I downloaded and installed 7-zip onto my server, unzipped all the files, and my batch script worked as intended.

• Presenting UINavigationController modally -- problem setting up tool and nav bar items in root view controller viewDidLoad

  In my iOS app I'm creating and presenting a UINavigationController modally like so: MyViewController *myvc = [[[MyViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"MyViewController" bundle:nil] autorelease]; UINavigationController *navVC = [[[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:myvc] autorelease]; [self presentModalViewController:navVC animated:YES]; In the MyViewController viewDidLoad I'm creating and setting toolbar items for the navigation controller's toolbar, like so: self.navigationController.toolbar.items = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:(items...), nil]; the problem I'm having is that the items don't show up. If instead I call a method from MyViewController's viewDidLoad method that adds the toolbar items via performSelector:withObject:afterDelay:0, then it works perfectly. So there's obviously some race condition going on here with the initial presentation of the UINavigationController, initialization of its toolbar/navbar, and the initialization of the nav bar's specified initial root view controller. I verified in the debugger that the root view controller's viewDidLoad is called after the UINavigationController's viewDidLoad method. In fact, the root view controller's viewDidLoad method is not called until presentModalViewController: is called, and the UINavigationController's viewDidLoad is called within initWithRootViewController, so doesn't that imply that the UINavigationController object should be "all ready to go", including its nav bar and toolbars? I thought at first that the navigation controller's toolbar object may not exist yet at MyViewController's viewDidLoad time, but it clearly does. At least, NSLog shows that it is not nil during MyViewController's viewDidLoad method. In fact, the UINavigationController's toolbar object is identical at both times: in the root view controller's viewDidLoad, and in the "setupToolbar" method that I called with performSelector:withObject:afterDelay, so it's not getting "re-initialized" somehow. So, what's going on here? Why aren't my toolbar modifications "sticking" in MyViewController's viewDidLoad, and why does performing them in the next iteration of the runloop (performSelector:withObject:afterDelay:0) make it work? What is the "right" way of setting up initial navbar / toolbar items in code from the rootViewController of the UINavigationController?

• Asterisk Manager API SIPPeers - Permission Denied

  I'm wanting to use the asterisk manager api to show the status of all my SIP lines in a PHP web interface. I thought I'd start simple and use telnet to see it working. So I created a user in /etc/asterisk/manager.conf [portal] secret = password read = all,system,call,log,verbose,command,agent,user Then telnet to localhost on port 5038 This is what I get. asterisk ~ # telnet localhost 5038 Trying 127.0.0.1... Connected to localhost. Escape character is '^]'. Asterisk Call Manager/1.0 Action: login Username: portal Secret: 8u9sdgk Events: off Response: Success Message: Authentication accepted Action: SIPPeers Response: Error Message: Permission denied Why am I getting permission denied? I thought the user has basically full access? Do I need to restart asterisk to make this work? I didn't restart it. On the other hand, I was able to log in which makes me think that the manager.conf has been reloaded as the portal user didn't exist before. Any ideas?

• SMO restore of SQL database doesn't overwrite

  I'm trying to restore a database from a backup file using SMO. If the database does not already exist then it works fine. However, if the database already exists then I get no errors, but the database is not overwritten. The "restore" process still takes just as long, so it looks like it's working and doing a restore, but in the end the database has not changed. I'm doing this in Powershell using SMO. The code is a bit long, but I've included it below. You'll notice that I do set $restore.ReplaceDatabase = $true. Also, I use a try-catch block and report on any errors (I hope), but none are returned. Any obvious mistakes? Is it possible that I'm not reporting some error and it's being hidden from me? • Outlook Interop Send Message from Account

  Okay, the specs have changed on this one somewhat. Maybe someone can help me with this new problem. Manually, what the user is doing is opening an new message in Outlook (2007 now) which has the "From..." field exposed. They open this up, select a certain account from the Global Address List, and send the message on behalf of that account. Is this possible to do? I can get the AddressEntry from the Global address list like so: AddressList list = null; foreach (AddressList addressList in _outlookApp.Session.AddressLists) { if (addressList.Name.ToLower().Equals("global address list")) { list = addressList; break; } } if (list != null) { AddressEntry entry = null; foreach (AddressEntry addressEntry in list.AddressEntries) { if (addressEntry.Name.ToLower().Equals("outgoing mail account")) { entry = addressEntry; break; } } } But I'm not sure I can make an Account type from the Address Entry. It seems to happen manually, when they select the address to send from. How do I mirror this in the Interop? Thanks! (My Original Question): I developed a small C# program to send email using the Outlook 2007 interop. The client required that the mail not be send using the default account - they had a secondary account they needed used. No problem - I used the Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.Account class to access the availabled accounts, and choose the correct one. Now, it turns out they need this to work in Outlook 2003. Of course, the Account class doesn't exist in the Outlook interop 11.0. How can I achieve the same thing with Outlook 2003? Thanks in advance.

• Redirect on Ajax Jquery Call

  Hi, I am newbie to ajax here and I know somebody would have encountered this problem already. • Deploying software on compromised machines

  I've been involved in a discussion about how to build internet voting software for a general election. We've reached a general consensus that there exist plenty of secure methods for two way authentication and communication. However, someone came along and pointed out that in a general election some of the machines being used are almost certainly going to be compromised. To quote: Let me be an evil electoral fraudster. I want to sample peoples votes as they vote and hope I get something scandalous. I hire a bot-net from some really shady dudes who control 1000 compromised machines in the UK just for election day. I capture the voting habits of 1000 voters on election day. I notice 5 of them have voted BNP. I look these users up and check out their machines, I look through their documents on their machine and find out their names and addresses. I find out one of them is the wife of a tory MP. I leak 'wife of tory mp is a fascist!' to some blogger I know. It hits the internet and goes viral, swings an election. That's a serious problem! So, what are the best techniques for running software where user interactions with the software must be kept secret, on a machine which is possibly compromised?

• MSWord automation:Get file contents after it was saved

  I have an application that uses MSWord automation to edit some documents, after they save and close word I need to grab the modified file and put it back on the repository, there is only one scenario where I can't get it to work and that is when the user makes changes to the file, selects to close word and selects yes to save the file there are 2 events that I'm using: DocumentBeforeSave Quit on the Quit event I'm trying to load the .docx file from disk but on this particular scenario I get an IOException because the file is still in use, somehow I need to wait until after the Quit event has been processed, which is when Word is actually closed and the file is no longer being used right now I have it working using this word.Visible = true; while (!wordDone) { //gets changed to true on the Quit event System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(100); } bool error = false; do { try { //need to load the contents of the modified file ls.Content = System.IO.File.ReadAllBytes(provider.GetFileName()); error = false; } catch (System.IO.IOException) { error = true; System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(200); } } while (error); while this works it is very ugly, I need a way to fire an event after the Quit event has been handled, or block the current thread while word is still running, or get an event after the document has been saved, the bottom line is I need a clean way to load the file after it has been saved and word is closed. DocumentAfterSave would be awesome, but doesn't seem to exist. I Also tried unhooking the Quit handler and calling word.Quit on the Quit handler, that made no difference

• Images missing after moving Django to new server

  I'm moving Django project to new server. I'm newbie in Django, and I don't know where should be upload folder. There are all images which should be displayed on website. In config file I haven't seen upload folder I could specify, so I'm guessing it always should be the same location for django projects or I just can't find it. Locations are saved in database. When I've put uploaded files into media folder, so url was like domain.co.uk/media/upload/media/images/year/month/day/image_name.ext and the same is on the old website, images on website ware still missing. All images are visible if I put url by hand, but django doesn't seems to see files. I create a new contact and get the id of a prospect list all using classes I created which are just wrappers for the soap api calls sugar provides. But the code boils down to this soap call: $this->_sugarsoap->client->__soapCall('set_relationship', array($this->getSessionid(),$relationship)); $this-getSessionid() Is the session Id and $relationship is an array which holds this: array 0 => string 'ProspectLists' (length=13) 1 => string '180ab1f5-cf7e-d386-50f8-4c18a790e016' (length=36) 2 => string 'Contacts' (length=8) 3 => string '76323942-8cbb-3224-f18a-4c19efa80a1b' (length=36) After I try this I always get this error: (I do a var_dump of the returned values of the soap call) object(stdClass)[5] public 'number' => string '20' (length=2) public 'name' => string 'Module Does Not Exist' (length=21) public 'description' => string 'This module is not available on this server' (length=43) This seems like a sugarcrm bug because I do have the contacts module and also the prospect lists module. I know this for a fact because I add a contact via the soap call and also retrieve the id of a prospect list via the soap call. I found this thread in the sugar forums and I did try the code given there but I still got the same error. Anyone have a solution for this? I really need to associate a contact to a prospect list (target list) via a soap call. I am using SugarCRM 5.5.0 (I also tried with sugarcrm 5.5.2 and got the same error) on ubuntu server using mysql. Thanks!

  The ASP.NET membership supports anonymous users and logged in users. If you call FormsAuthentication.SetAuthCookie(userName, createPersistentCookie); with a true for createPersistentCookie then the user will be logged in automatically when they revisit your site - even after closing the browser. If you don't enable this 'remember me' feature, then the anonymous cookie will still be around when the user visits your site again. I'd like to do be able to store information in the user's anonymous profile when they are logged in. i.e. I don't want them to remain authenticated on the site if they go away and come back, but I'd still like be able to track certain things - like perhaps a visitCount property in the anonymous profile. Is there any way to access a user's anonymous profile when they are authenticated. The two cookies exist so it should be possible. I don't want to reinvent half the wheel! ps. I realize that tracking is skewed if multiple users use the system but thats fine.

But now that I modified the code so that number of DropDownLists that should appear is dynamic, it gives me error; "The name 'ddl' does not exist in the current context." The reason for this error is that there a multiple instances of 'ddl' = number of counters. So how do I instead return more than one 'ddl'? Like what return type should this method have instead? And how do I return these values? • Regression Testing and Deployment Strategy

  I'd like some advice on a deployment strategy. If a development team creates an extensive framework, and many (20-30) applications consume it, and the business would like application updates at least every 30 days, what is the best deployment strategy? The reason I ask is that there seems to be a lot of waste (and risk) in using an agile approach of deploying changes monthly, if 90% of the applications don't change. What I mean by this is that the framework can change during the month, and so can a few applications. Because the framework changed, all applications should be regression-tested. If, say, 10 of the applications don't change at all during the year, then those 10 applications are regression-tested EVERY MONTH, when they didn't have any feature changes or hot fixes. They had to be tested simply because the business is rolling updates every month. And the risk that is involved... if a mission-critical application is deployed, that takes a few weeks, and multiple departments, to test, is it realistic to expect to have to constantly regression-test this application? One option is to make any framework updates backward-compatible. While this would mean that applications don't need to change their code, they would still need to be tested because the underlying framework changed. And the risk involved is great; a constantly changing framework (and deploying this framework) means the mission-critical app can never just enjoy the same code base for a long time. These applications share the same database, hence the need for the constant testing. I'm aware of TDD and automated tests, but that doesn't exist at the moment. Any advice?

• How to avoid XCode framework weak-linking problems?

  Hi, I'm building an application that takes advantage of Mac OS X 10.6-only technologies, but without giving up backwards compatibility to 10.5 Leopard. The way I do this is by setting the 10.6 SDK as the base SDK, weak-linking all frameworks and setting the deployment target to 10.5 as described in: http://developer.apple.com/mac/library/DOCUMENTATION/MacOSX/Conceptual/BPFrameworks/Concepts/WeakLinking.html This works fine; before making a call that is Snow Leopard-only I need to check that the selector or indeed the class actually exist. Or I can just check the OS version before making the call. The problem is that this is incredibly fragile. If I make a single call that is 10.6 only I blow Leopard-compatibility. So using even the normal code code completion feature can be dangerous. My question: is there any way of checking which calls are not defined on 10.5 before doing a release build? Some kind of static analysis, or even just a trick (a target set the other SDK?) would do. I obviously should test on a Leopard machine before releasing anything, but even so I can't possibly go through all paths of the program before every release. Any advice would be appreciated.   I have a static_controller that is in charge of all the static pages in the site and works as follows in routes.rb: map.connect ':id', :controller => 'static', :action => 'show' I have a static page called about that among other information, has a contact form. I currently have a contacts_controller that is in charge of inserting the contact information to the database. Inside my routes.rb file, I have: map.resources :contacts My contact form (simplified) looks like this: <% form_for @contact do |f| %> <p class="errors"><%= f.error_messages %></p> <p> <%= f.label :first_name %> <%= f.text_field :first_name %> </p> <p class="buttons"><%= f.submit %></p> <% end %> Which in turn submits to the create action of my contacts_controller. My create action looks like this: def create @contact = Contact.new(params[:contact]) if @contact.save flash[:notice] = "Email delivered successfully." end redirect_to "about" end The problem is, is the that when I redirect back to my about page the error_messages for the form get lost (since the error_messages for the form only exist for one request, and that request ends upon redirect). How would I go about preserving the error_messages and still linking the users back to the about static url? Would a session/flash be sufficient (if so, what code would I use to pass error messages) or am I going about this whole thing wrong? Thanks!

  Slowly building a starter changeSet xml file for one of three of my employer's primary schema's. The only show stopper has been incorporating the sizable library of MySQL stored procedures to be managed by liquibase. One sproc has been somewhat of a pain to deal with: The first few statements go like use TargetSchema; select "-- explanatory inline comment thats actually useful --" into vDummy; set @@session.sql_mode='TRADITIONAL' ; drop procedure if exists adm_delete_stats ; delimiter $$ create procedure adm_delete_stats( ...rest of sproc I cut out the use statement as its counter-productive, but real issue is the set @@session.sql_mode statement which causes an exception like liquibase.exception.MigrationFailedException: Migration failed for change set ./foobarSchema/sprocs/adm_delete_stats.xml::1293560556-151::dward_autogen dward: Reason: liquibase.exception.DatabaseException: Error executing SQL ... And then the delimiter statement is another stumbling block. Doing do dilligence research I found this rejected MySQL bug report here and this MySQL forum thread that goes a little bit more in depth to the problem here. Is there anyway I can use the sproc scripts that currently exist with Liquibase or would I have to re-write several hundred stored procedures? I've tried createProcedure, sqlFile, and sql liquibase tags without much luck as I think the core issue is that set, delimiter, and similar SQL commands are meant to be interpreted and acted upon by the client side interpreter before being delivered to the server.

• ThreadAbortException (WebClient using DownloadFile to grab file from server)

  Hi Everyone, Referencing my Earlier Question, regarding downloading a file from a server and handling exceptions properly. Then on the client side I could handle this: public bool Download() { try { using (var client = new WebClient()) { client.DownloadFile(name, tempFilePath); } } catch (Exception) { fileExists = false; } return fileExists; } But the problem now is two things. 1) I get System.Threading.ThreadAbortException: Thread was being aborted in the server side try-catch block. Usually this was just a file not found exception. I have no idea what or why that new exception is throwing? 2) Now that a different exception is throwing on the server side instead of the file not found, it would seem I can't use this set up for the application, because back on client side, any exception is assumed to be filenotfound. Any help, especially info on why this ThreadAbortException is throwing!?!? greatly appreciated. Cheers
