• Making the shadow from a ScatterViewItem a different shape

  I am developing a program for Surface using Expression Blend and Visual Studio. I have a custom user control with an ellipse and a label in a grid. This will need to be placed in a scatterViewItem. My problem is that the scatterviewitem will cast a rectangle shaped shadow under the ellipse shaped content. I can disable the shadow completely, but is there any way to make the shadow inherit the shape from its parent? Or can i set the shape of the scatterviewItem itself in any way?

• Really new to XCode. Why won't the thing run?

  Hi, I'm trying to follow the April 2009 and Winter 2010 Stanford iPhone app development videos and I'm running up against the same problems with both. First, they don't appear to be using the latest version of XCode - the Outlets and Actions panels are in a different window and there is little info on the net about this (other than one other post on S.O.F.) Second, having got to the point where I've managed to connect the slider, label and changedLabelText connections, I save, build and run the app - the simulator loads, the app loads and then promptly closes again. What's going on? I have not written any code yet and I still have an app which, while it compiles, does not behave! Is there a better starting point for an XCode noob than the Stanford vids? • Adding classes to all form widgets in symfony

  Hi everyone, I am trying to find a better way to assign classes to form elements in symfony. Currently, I can't seem to get away from assigning each one manually. ie: $this->widgetSchema['title']->setAttribute("class","fieldInput"); $this->widgetSchema['tag_line']->setAttribute("class","fieldInput"); $this->widgetSchema['description']->setAttribute("class","fieldInput"); // etc Things I tried without success 1) looping through $this-widgetSchema, treating it as an array and setting attributes to each key 2) $this-widgetSchema-setAttribute() but this only applied the class to the label that was generated, not the form element There must be a way to hit all the fields without specifically directing them? Can anyone point me in the right direction?

• Windows 7: Loop through Taskbar items

  Hi, I'm trying to build a small utility for myself only to hide labels of running programs with windows visible in the taskbar where the label holds no information (for example "iTunes", "Microsoft SQL Server Mngmt Studio", "~cmd.exe") but keep windows like Windows Explorer and Visual Studio and MSN ungroupped, with labels (to know which folders you are currently listing, which projects are open, and who are you chatting with by name). I'm trying to loop through all windows in the taskbar on windows 7, but without any luck. I found some samples for XP's taskbar reorders, they no longer usable. I've checked the samples in WindowsAPICodePack for Windows 7 Taskbar manipulation, but it only lets me access my processes' windows.

• jQuery if checkbox is checked to toggle classes

  I am needed to change my jQuery code up. Instead of the label toggling the class and showing the icon I need it to where if the checkbox is checked to show to toggle those classes. I have tried prop and is but I couldn't get them to work properly. The reason for the change is I want to preload data into the form and if it's going to be checked those toggles need to reflect that change. http://jsfiddle.net/70fbLooL/2/ EDIT Seems to be confusion as to exactly what I am trying to do. The fiddle I provided works perfectly fine. The problem is if I want to call the form from server-side and pre-populate the form the checkbox toggles will not show that they are checked because it's based on the clicked function. I need it to be based on if the checkbox equal true or checked. That way if the value equals true from the server-side call it will toggle those classes and look like it's checked.

• How can I use gnuplot to plot data that is in an un-friendly format?

  I need to graph some data that is not exactly in the most friendly format, most examples or usage puts things in a nice column/table that is very easy to parse and graph. However I have the following format (and am a bit stuck as to how to tackle this): DATE1 label_1 xx yy DATE1 label_2 xx yy DATE1 label_3 xx yy DATE2 label_2 xx yy DATE2 label_3 xx yy DATE3 label_1 xx yy DATE3 label_2 xx yy DATE3 label_3 xx yy DATE4 label_2 xx yy DATE4 label_3 xx yy ...continues *I've added the extra space between the dates for readability. **Note: under DATE2,DATE4 label_1 is missing, i.e. the data file may have labels that come and go and should represent a discontinuity in the graph. I'd like to have the X-axis use the DATEX for the labels, and then create two lines for each label (xx and yy respectively). Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to tackle this problem?

• Creating ODT and PDF files as end result

  Hello, I've been working on an app to create various document formats for a while now, and I've had limited success. Ideally, I'd like to dynamically create a fairly simple ODT/PDF/DOC file. I've been focusing my efforts on ODT, because it is editable, and open enough that there are several tools which will convert it to any of the other formats I need. The problem is that the ODT XML files are NOT simple, and there aren't any good-quality API's I could find (especially in python). So far, I've had the most success creating a template ODT file, and then manipulating the DOM in python as needed. This is ok generally, but is quickly becoming inadequate and requires too much tweaking every single time I need to alter one of the templates. The requirements are: 1) Produce a simple document that will have lists, paragraphs, and the ability to draw simple graphics on the page (boxes, circles, etc...) 2) The ability to specify page size, and the different formats should generally print the exact same output when sent to a printer My questions: 1) Are there any other ways I can produce ODT/PDF/DOC files? 2) Would LaTeX be acceptable? I've never really used it, does anyone have experience converting LaTeX files into other formats? 3) Would it be possible to use HTML? There are a lot of converters online. Technically you can specify dimensions in mm/cm, etc..., but I am worried that the printed output will differ between browsers/converters.... Any other ideas?

• Pattern for null settings

  Hi, I would like to hear your thoughts and ideas about this one. in my application i have controls that are binded to objects properties. but.. the controls always looks like that: a check box, label that explain the settings and then the edited control (for ex: text box) when unchecking the checkbox i disable the text box (using binding) when the checkbox is unchecked i want the property to contain null, and when it is checked i would like the property to contain the text box's text. Of course text box can be NumericUpDown, ComboBox, DatePicker etc.. Do you have any smart way of doing it using binding or do i have to do everything on code; I really would like to a build a control that supports that and re-use it all over Ideas? Thanks,

• AJAX: Statusbar: force update of UpdatePanel while function executes

  Hi Guys, I have a label inside an update panel which I wouldl ike to use as a status bar. Basically the user clicks a button which executes a main fucntion that performs a series of tasks. I'd like to inform the user as to the state of the function as it progresses e.g.: Stage 1: Retrieving data... Stage 2: Calculating values... Stage 3: Printing values... Stage 4: Done! I've tried updating the updatepanel directly from the function but it only updates the panel at the end of function (stage 4) and shows "Done!" (which I understand is how it should work). I've been looking into timers and threads to try and update the panel seperate to the main function but I thought I'd post here incase anyone has any better ideas? Thanks for any help in advance! • Finding out max available print area

  I'm trying to find out max available area on my printer. I've printed a simple rectangle trying out different boundary variables. My question is, why doesn't first two work correctly? They don't print a full rectangle on the paper, only the left and top sides are drawn. Why does only the third one prints a full rectangle? I was under the impression of that all three should be working correctly. What am I missing? • FF extension: displaying an array of string elements in a sidebar

  I am developing a ff extension which displays a list of elements from an array (dynamic) in the sidebar. The array is dynamic and needs to be constructed in a function everytime the sidebar is opened (or any other event handler). Later, i will need to implement link functionality on parts of the string. What is the best way to go about this? I have created an empty sidebar and just know the label element as of now. menu, and menuitem dont work. What other elements can i use to display text in a good way which supports dynamic contruction. Is there some good tutorial/sample extension which i can see and learn?

• Vim hanging after parsing .vimrc (even a blank one) file on Solaris 10

  Hello all, I am having a problem with vim 7.2 hanging (for about 10 seconds) after it parses the .vimrc file. I had a similar issue in the past with tcsh on linux, but it was resolved by setting TERM to xterm-color. The same does not resolve the issue here.
