• powerpoint make computer shut down on dell optiplex 760

  hello, At my office we upgraded group of computers to windows 7 + office 2010, few of us have problem that when we work on powerpoint - once in a while the computer suddenly shut down (with out any message). Some of us - has no such problems. We checked and fount that the people who experience problems - use Dell Optiplex 760 PC, and everyone that have no problems use other models. We also found out that the processors of the 760's are not the same - some are Intel E7400 and one is Intel E8400, so I suspect that maybe the mother board is the problem Does any one no this problem? Does any one have an idea about it? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks, Yael

• WCF Service, Java JApplet client, transport error 405

  Hi all, I'm having a problem with a WCF Service and Java Client, I will try to give as much information as i can, thanks for your time. The Endpoint of the server is BasicHttpBinding, I tried hosting the server as a Windows Service and in IIS but nothing changed. The weird thing is that the Client works great if I use a simple class, in the moment I switch the class to an JApplet I get the problem mentioned. I'm using Eclipse as an IDE, I tried Axis and Metro to generate the stub with the same bad results.   My problem is that I have a number of network administration applications like SAN switches that do not support nested groups from Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS). These legacy administration applications use either LDAP or LDAPS. I am fairly sure I can use Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services (AD LDS) and possibly Windows Authorization Manager to work around this issue; however I am not really sure where to start. I want to end up with: A single group that can be queried over LDAP/LDAPS for all it’s direct members LDAP proxy for user name and password credentials to AD DS Easy way to admin the group, ideally the group would aggregate the nested membership in AD DS. a native solution using freely available components from the Windows stack. If you have any suggestions or solutions that you have previously used to solve this issue please let me know.

• Will using Apache's ProxyPass directive on persistent Ajax connections alleviate the connection limit error?

  I've got some javascript that keeps a persistent Ajax connection open for each client, and I know that this can cause some serious issues for apache, but not for lighttpd. One thing I learned from researching how to get around this was how to use the ProxyPass directive to send all requests for a certain directory to another address:port combination (without letting the user know). What I want to know is, if I put my PHP in a proxy'd (to lighttpd) directory and call that with javascript, will this still count against my apache connection limit? The reason I wonder is that apache is still serving the content, just not processing it. Seems to me that this would be a connection. Thanks

Like this one: Error: Installation of [Windows Process Activation Service] Configuration APIs failed. the server needs to be restarted to undo the changes. My server is running Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition. UPDATE: I tried installing the prerequisites one by one using PowerShell. Now I have errors on RPC over Http proxy: Installation of [Web Server (IIS)] Tracing Failed, Attempt to install tracing failed with error code 0x80070643. Fatal error during installation. Searching about the error code doesn't tell me much more than something went wrong when trying to update windows. Installing Http Tracing alone also doesn't make any difference.

  I have recently upgraded my Poweredge T105 server to use a SAS 6/ir RAID controller. Unfortunately, I did not realize at the time that adding the card would cause the BIOS to complain about a missing hard drive fan. This warning requires that a user press F1 to continue, which is disastrous in a server environment. I have searched all over found that the specific part I need is a Dell FY606 fan. However, I have yet to find a suitable retailer that covers this part. I have contacted Dell and they do not have this part in stock. Are there any alternative models of a fan that I could use in place of an FY606? Seems like a pretty straightforward part, just a fan that connects to a 4-pin power connector on the motherboard.

  Since some weeks i manage my first Webserver, a Seaside application behind an Apache proxy on Linode, and i installed logwatch to send me daily logs. Where can i get information on when i have to act as a consequence of what i read in these logwatch reports? For example i read that all kinds of people try to login on funny nonexisting accounts or all kinds of webcrawlers test for nonexisting cms login pages, some ip adresses get banned and unbanned by fail2ban... I assume that's normal? Is it? But how do i know that i probably have to do something? What do i look for in the logs?

I found some guides to fix the problem for the video card switch, but all for older models, those preconfigured with windows vista. • Issue varnish purge through CloudFlare to Varnish

  I've been working on this for a while and can't seem to find any solution. I have varnish sitting in front of my nginx server, with CloudFlare sitting in front. When I issue a curl -X PURGE host CloudFlare picks it up and of course denies it with a 503 error. If I use direct.host to bypass CloudFlare it hits the Varnish server and it accepts the request but it does nothing since direct.host isn't used so there is nothing in the cache for that url. I am using WordPress and there is a WordPress Varnish Purge plugin, it says to add the following line to wp-config.php: define('VHP_VARNISH_IP','127.0.0.1') This is specifically to work with proxy servers and/or CloudFlare to make sure the request goes to the Varnish server rather than CloudFlare, but that doesn't seem to help. Anyone see this before and have any idea?

• SQL Server Rights to backup drive

  I'm trying to copy a backup I've made from one server to another using either an SSIS or Powershell step in a job. I've run into the same error on both systems when running the step under the sql agent. I receive errors that the path does not exist. I've tried granting the agent rights to e:\backups, where the file is located, but it still doesn't work. When I use a proxy for the step, it works fine. Can anyone help me with what permissions to grant to sqlagent? Rights look to have been granted to MSSQL$Instance1 on the backup drive.

• Why aren't connections released by the tomcat AJP connector

  I have here a jboss with a web application. The tomcat is configured to use the ajp connector. Incoming connections are tunneled via an apache reverse proxy to the connector. Now I recognized that under heavy load the connector keeps a bunch of connections in "keep alive" mode for eternity and doesn't release them any more. With the normal HTTP connector the app did well, but now with the ajp connector we have regular app stallments. Can someone give me some advice where to start to look to resolve this issue? Why does the connector not release the connection again after idling for 300 secs? thanks, chris

• Access denied error when running site with SSL

  i've setup a SSL certificate to use in a website i'm working on. The problem is that when "Require SSL" is checked in iis, i get the following error while trying to access the site: 403 - Forbidden: Access is denied. You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied. If that checkbox is not checked, the site works fine (i'm not sure why, but i can even access it through SSL). Not sure if it makes any difference, but my company has an ISA server that we use as a proxy / firewall. Thanks, Gonzalo

• Pidgin not working with Gtalk

  I have downloaded latest Pidgin(version 2.10.6) for Windows and tried to gtalk account to it. It shows "not authorized" error. I have tried many options given in the net and its not working for me, Below are the values I have given, Basic Tab: Protocal: XMPP Username: <my username> Domain: gmail.com Password: <My Password> and enabled Remember password check box Advanced Tab: Connection security: Require Encryption (Default) Unhecked "Allow plaintext auth over unencrypted streams" (Default) Connection Port: 5222 (Default) Connect server: talk.google.com File Transfer proxies: proxy.eu.jabber.org (default) BOSH URL: <Empty> (default) I enabled two step verification process for my gmail account, So I created application specific password and given here. But Its not working. Please help me what could be the problem and how to resolve it?

• mod_rewrite to page with HTTP auth

  I'm trying to use modrewrite to proxy http:://myserver/cam1 to an internal, http-auth protected server at http:://admin:[email protected]/cgi/mjpg/mjpg.cgi No matter what I try, though, requests to http:://myserver/cam1 always prompt me for the username and password. I've tried all of these to no avail. RewriteRule ^/cam1 http://admin:[email protected]/cgi/mjpg/mjpg.cgi [P,L] RewriteRule ^/cam1 http://192.168.99.130/cgi/mjpg/mjpg.cgi [E=Authorization:Basic\ YWRtaW46YWRtaW4=,P,L] RewriteRule ^/cam1 http://192.168.99.130/cgi/mjpg/mjpg.cgi [E=HTTP_USERID:admin,E=HTTP_PASSWORD:admin,P,L]` Anybody have any other ideas?

• Amazon EC2: Not able to open web application even if port it opened

  I have a t1.micro instance with public dns looks similar to ec2-184-72-67-202.compute-1.amazonaws.com (some numbers changed) On this machine, I am running a django app $ sudo python manage.py runserver --settings=vlists.settings.dev Validating models... 0 errors found Django version 1.4.1, using settings 'vlists.settings.dev' Development server is running at http://127.0.0.1:8000/ I have opened the port 8000 through AWS console Now when I hit the following in Chrome http://ec2-184-72-67-202.compute-1.amazonaws.com:8000, I get Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to WHat is that I am doing wrong?

• Necesity of ModSecurity if Apache is behind Nginx

  I have my Apache installed behind Nginx. So every request that comes in is first handeled by Nginx. If there is dynamic content needed the request is send to Apache which listens on port 8080. Pretty basic reverse proxy setup. Now with this setup the first entry point is Nginx. Is it still needed to install ModSecurity to protect Apache against unwanted request. Or should I just focus on protecting Nginx as this is the first entry point. All suggestions are welcome.

• DHCP request error. Send_packet now permitted, How to debug, What does it mean

  Hello I recently installed CSF firewall and have made live a new server which is accepting around 600req/second. Its basically a reverse proxy and I found in pingdom and munin that for a particular time, the response times of the server increased by 3 folds. I looked into logs and exactly at that point, I found loads of entries like this: Feb 27 15:22:09 li235-57 dhclient: DHCPREQUEST of <My IP address> on eth0 to 207.192.68.72 port 67 Feb 27 15:22:09 li235-57 dhclient: send_packet: Operation not permitted Can you help me understand what went wrong and what exactly happened. Is there any settings I should change in CSF or any pointer to debug this further Thanks
