• Ctrl+Click / Command+Click not working with analytics

  Hi All, I created my own analytics for my site to track outbound click events using jquery. Now the thing with preventDefault() is that it does not allow for the Ctrl+Click or COmmand+click operation in the browser to open the link in new tab/window. So my solution was to detect e.metaKey || e.ctrlKey and use window.open. This does not work very great with safari unless the user changes browser behavior. I am wondering if anyone here knows what other analytics users do - like how does google etc deal with this problem in tracking outbound links? From this link: http://www.google.com/support/googleanalytics/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=55527 - looks like google will also face the same problem. Thoughts?

• How to use NUnit GUI with a C#/ASP.NET website?

  I have a C#/ASP.NET website that has some code (*.cs) files in the App_Code directory. I would like to test them using NUnit. I have written a test file with the proper [TestFixture] and [Test] annotations and have put it here: App_Code/Test/TestClassName.cs. I load up the NUnit GUI to run it but it wants me to select a .exe or .dll file. There is none in the bin folder of my project. My project does successfully run and is built and everything, but still no exe or dll file. How can I get the NUnit Gui to just run the test in that class?

• Reading a Windows 'binary' float into a ASP jscript variable

  I need to read files produced by a legacy Windows app that stores real numbers (the 8-byte "double" type) in binary - i.e. as a packed array of 8 bytes. I can read the 8 byte group OK but how can I present it to my ASP JScript code such I can get the real number back again. Or to put it another way: Say a file was produced by a Windows (Delphi) program: Assign (f, 'test.bin') ; rewrite (f, 1) ; r := 1234.56E78 ; BlockWrite (f, r, SizeOf (Double)) ; Close (f) ; Inspection of the file will show it contains 8 bytes, being: 94 0E 4C CA C2 97 AD 53 which is the real number in IEEE format. Assuming I can read these 8 bytes back in ASP, is there a simple way of getting the real number back again?

  Hi, I was trying to run an OpenSource project which requires ferret to be installed. While installing it using gem install ferret, it's giving this error - Building native extensions. This could take a while... ERROR: Error installing ferret: ERROR: Failed to build gem native extension. C:/Ruby/bin/ruby.exe extconf.rb creating Makefile nmake 'nmake' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. Gem files will remain installed in C:/Ruby/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/ferret-0.11.6 for inspection. Results logged to C:/Ruby/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/ferret-0.11.6/ext/gem_make.out So, I tried installing nmake (nmake15.exe), but the one I could find. It does not installs on Windows 7.Please help.   Here's my situation: I'm trying to create a SSL certificate that will be installed on all developer's machine's, along with two internal servers (everything is non-production). What do I need to do to create a certificate that can be installed in all of these places? Right now I've got something along these lines, using the makecert application in Microsoft Visual Studio 8\SDK\v2.0\Bin: makecert -r -pe -n "CN=MySite.com Dev" -b 01/01/2000 -e 01/01/2033 -eku 1.3.6.1.5.5.7.3.1 -ss Root -sr localMachine -sky exchange -sp "Microsoft RSA SChannel Cryptographic Provider" -sy 12 mycert.cer However, I'm not sure as to how to place this .cer file on the other computers, and when I install it on my local machine IIS, everytime I visit a page via https:, I get the security prompt (even after I've installed the certificate). Has anyone done this before?

  I'm doing a local install on Mac OSX of Spree (a Ruby-based ecommerce package) following the tutorial on this page. I'm using RVM to run Ruby 1.9.2 and rails 3.0.3. I run "gem install spree" successfully to load spree version 0.40. But when I run "Gem Install Spree" I get the following message. Can anyone help? /Library/Ruby/Site/1.8/rubygems.rb:335:in `bin_path': can't find executable spree for spree-0.40.0 (Gem::Exception) from /usr/bin/spree:19 Also, when I run "Gem list spree" I get an empty list.

• my windows forms application throws filenotfoundexception when run on another machine

  Hi, I have created a windows forms application using vs2008. when i copy the bin folder over to another machine and try to run it the applicaiton throws a filenotfoundexception error. Ive looked at the references files used in the project and each file points to either c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727... c:\Program Files\Reference Assemblies\Microsoft\Framework\v3.5... c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Visual Basic Power Packs\1.1... i have verified that these directories exist on the other machines that cause the error. the two machines that i have tried it on and that throw there error are Windows XP WITHOUT VS2008 installed and Windows 7 with VS2008 installed I tried on two machine that DID work which are Windows XP with VS2008 and and my development machine Windows 7 with VS2008 Could anyone provide me with some insight on this issue Thanks

• Text overflowing floated div

  I have a problem with a fluid layout I am attempting to create. I was wondering why I am not able to get overflow:hidden to work on the left menu text on this site. As you can see here, I have labelled in blue, the text which I would like contained within the left menu div, although it overflows and pushes the rest of the site down with it. • Why does mysqldump need to be fully pathed when called from a controller or model?

  When I call mysqldump from a controller or model I need to fully path the binary, when I call it from Rake I don't need to. If I do not fully path I get a zero byte file... I can confirm both processes are run using the same user. # Works in a controller, model and Rake task system "/usr/local/mysql/bin/mysqldump -u root #{w.database_name} > #{target_file}" # Only works in a Rake task system "mysqldump -u root #{w.database_name} > #{target_file}" If I call the Rake task from the action it also fails (zero byte file). OS: Mac Ruby 1.8.6 EDIT: I use Etc.getpwuid(Process.uid).name to get the User of the current process

(names changed for simplicity) It compiles down into these files (in the silverlight project): AppManifest.xaml MySLApp.dll MySLApp.xap MySLAppTestPage.html And the Web project builds into: Bin\MySLApp.Web.dll ClientBin\MySLApp.xap What I also have in my Web project is a .ASHX file that serves up a generated image, which my Silverlight application calls out to as the URL of an image: var uri = new Uri(@"http://localhost:1122/ImageServer.ashx", UriKind.Absolute); var bi = new BitmapImage(uri); TagImage.Source = bi; My big question boils down to this: How do I deploy my app to my IIS server? • Error when running MSpec - how do I troubleshoot?

  I am following this guide to installing and using MSpec, but at the step where he runs MSpec for the first time, I get the following error: Could not load file or assembly 'file:///[...]\Nehemiah\Nehemiah.Specs\bin\Debug\Nehemiah.Specs.dll' or one of its dependencies. This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded. I have - to my knowledge - done everything more or less exactly like he did up to this step, except where differences arise because he's using VS2008 and I'm using VS2010, and everything has worked so far. The project Nehemijah.Specs (and the entire solution) builds without problem, both in Visual Studio and on my build server, and I can't find anything useful in Event Viewer (although I might not be looking in the right place here...) What to do?

I suspect there is a better way (maybe with the ffmpeg library), but scripting is what I know and ffmpeg generally works.   I have recently installed msysgit on my machine (its running Windows 7) to use Git for some projects. A lot of my projects are under SVN, in which I use AnkhSVN in Visual Studio 2008 to commit etc. Since I have installed msysgit everytime I try to commit, update etc inside Visual Studio, the program C:\msysgit\bin\ssh.exe loads up, asks for my password, then Ankh throws an exception. I currently use Pageant to save my login credentials for SVN - I have TortoiseSVN installed, which is still working fine... Has anybody got any suggestions to get Anhk working again - without uninstalling msysgit? Thanks

• Linux - Create ftp account with read/write access to only 1 folder

I have never worked on linux and dont plan on working on it either - The only command I probably know is "ls" :) I am hosting my website on Eapps and use their cpanel to setup everything so never worked with linux. Now I have this one time case - where I need to provide access to a contractor to fix the CSS issues on my website. He basically needs FTP (read/write) access to certain folders. At a high level - this is my code structure /home/webadmin/example.com/html/images /css /js /login.php /facebook.php /home/webadmin/example.com/application/library /views /models /controllers /config /bootstrap.php /home/webadmin/example.com/cgi-bin I want the new user to be able to have access to only these folders /home/webadmin/example.com/html/js /home/webadmin/example.com/html/css /home/webadmin/example.com/application/views He should not be able to view even the content of other folders including files like bootstrap.php or login.php etc If any sys admins can help me set this account up - will really appreciate it. • How do I tell eclipse to auto-generate or retain stubs when it starts and does a clean build?

  I'm working on a Java application that uses JavaSpace. We're developing this in Eclipse. There are a couple instances where we are inserting code into the JavaSpace to do some more advanced space notification logic. Doing this requires that we generate stubs for the classes used within the JavaSpace. We use an external script to generate these stubs. The problem is that whenever Eclipse restarts, it does a clean build of the whole application. When it does this, it deletes all the stubs and we have to regenerate them. I would like to find a way to either tell Eclipse not to remove the _stub.class and _skel.class files within the bin folder where the .class files are placed. Either that, or somehow teach Eclipse to generate the stub files whenever it does a rebuild (and I suppose whenever the source files from which the stubs are generated changes). How can I do one of these, so that we don't have to manually build the stubs every time we start up Eclipse?

  I am trying to write a launchd.plist file for my node server. I am using forever to run my node server. I would like the server to start on boot. I would also like to wait for the mongodb launchd plist to run first. I installed mongobb using homebrew and it came with a launchd.plist already. • graphviz segmentation fault

• Curious to Know what Eclipse 'Show Heap Status' does

  Hi All In Eclipse (I am using 3.4 Ganymede) there is an option under Preferences>General>Show Heap Status which when checked shows near bottom of IDE like 46M of 98M and if we move the mouse over 'Recycle Bin' it says 'Run Garbage Collector'. I am curoius to know how this works.What will happen when 'Run Garbage Collector' is clicked. My enivroment set up is something like jdk6 is insatlled and IDE used for development and run in Tomcat server. So my understanding is all the objects which are run through Tomcat should be garbage collected. Is this correct. Is there a way to see what objects Eclipse identified as Garbage Cheers

• Debugging a release version of a DLL (with PDB file)

  If I have a DLL (that was built in release-mode) and the corresponding PDB file, is it possible to debug (step-into) classes/methods contained in that DLL? If so, what are the required steps/configuration (e.g. where to put the PDB file)? Edit: If have the PDB file in the same place as the DLL (in the bin/debug directory of a simple console test application). I can see that the symbols for the DLL are loaded (in the Output window and also in the Modules window), but still I cannot step into the methods of that DLL. Could this be the result of compiler optimizations (as described by Michael in his answer)?
