  For example imagine I've a rest service, this service takes two parameters : phone number text The goal is to send the message via a sms gateway. I've a class Message which has two properties destinationNumber and textMessage. Before calling the gateway, I want to validate the data received by the rest service. I've two questions relatives to how to validate the data : Where should I put the validation rules ? in the model or in the controller How should I use the sfValidator* classes from Symfony to validate the data (ie. where's the documentation for using sfValidator or where can I find some examples) Any help would be appreciated.

• JqueryUI serialize data not working on first record

  I am using jqueryUI v1.8. I have created a modal dialog form to edit records of a table. When the edit link on the record is clicked the record data is displayed on the form and the user edits the record. When the user submits this form the data is serialized and posted via ajax to update the database. This works well with all records except the first one. Nothing is posted to server for update only for the first record. alert(serializeddata); is empty. Similarly, The first form element in every record chosen for editing does not show the actual value the first time. Once you cancel editing and close the dialog and reopen you can see the fields accurate data. How do I resolve this?

I need to "Post" some data to an external website using HttpWebRequest object from my application(desktop) and get a response back into my application through HttpWebResponse object. • iPhone: Grouping records in multiple UITableView views

  Let me first say, I know how to create sections and group records within a UITableView. What I am wanting to do is something similar to creating a photo album. So, I have all my data objects coming from core data, and, I want to be able to create a custom group, such as "My Trip to Mexico" and "First Birthday". Then, the user should be able to add objects/records into new sections/albums. So, basically the user is creating custom sections with their own custom names, and then choosing what records should go into that section/album. So, I am just wondering what is the best way to do this? I am thinking that I would just create some extra attributes for my core data model. Or, would I create a whole new "Album Section" object, and somehow use that? Point me in the right direction. :)

This causes main application to hang for 3-5 seconds.. What could be the reason behind this problem..

• Custom OData operation / customize EF model to hide join table in many-to-many relationship

  I've got a data model that has two tables with a join table for a many to many relationship & creating an OData service to expose the data for CRUD ops in a Silverlight app. What I'd like to do is abstract the join table from the service. I'm not sure if the best way to do this would be in the model (using EF in .NET3.5SP1) or if I should do it with a custom service operation. If I do it in the EF model (not sure how I'd do this), then the OOTB WCF Data Service stuff would make it easy to say [..]/Courses(1)/Modules ... otherwise I'd have to create a custom operation to do this. Is it possible to do this in the EF model and if so, how does that work?

• Django - Empty session data in ajax requests

  Hi guys, I have an ajax view where I want to set a session variable like such: def upload(request, *args, **kwargs): request.session['test'] = 'test' request.session.modified = True print request.session.items() I have another normal view something like this: def advertise(request): print request.session.items() I get these two strings printed to shell: [('test', 'test')] [('_auth_user_backend', 'django.contrib.auth.backends.ModelBackend'), ('_auth_user_id', 26L)] Why is the session data that I set in the ajax view not passing to my regular views? If I set session data in regular view, everything works as fine, but it seems that ajax requests contain empty session data? Anybody dealt with something like this before? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  Recently I came across the SkipList data structure. It really helped me to solve one otherwise critical problem to be solved. I was struggling to solve the same problem with Balanced Binary tree but it became very complex as the tree needs to be always balanced and I wanted to know the existence of not only a particular value but values in certain range. SkipList helped me to solve that problem effectively. I am wondering what else data structures that I need to know? I know - Array, List, Stack, Queue, Linked List, hashtable, tree and its different forms like B-tree, Trie etc. Would like to know if you find some other data structure/concept very interesting to know yet effective enough to be used in a daily development cycle.

  I am Using SOAP WS for getting the Data. I got the four Parameters in Response - Topic_Name, Topic_Id, Topic_ImagePath and Topic_Details. Now I have All the Images of Topic Locally with the same name as i got from the web service for Particular Topic_ID. My question is I want to use Local image instead using the Topic_ImagePath 's Image but the data Must Come From the Web Service. I dont want to use if ..else condition because I have more than 1000 Topics, any one can explain how I get the Path of Local Image and Display it with the Data Comes From the Web Service.. • MVC binding form data problem.

  I am using an object that matches all the fields in my form. I then use the default binding to populate the object in my action, like this; public ActionResult GetDivisionData(DivisionObj FormData) My DivisionObj initializes all it's values to string.empty in the constructor. The problem is that when the binder populates the model from the posted form data, any data that is not posted is set to null in the object, eventhough I initialized the object to contain empty strings. Is there a way to change this so that unposted data will be an empty string.

• Ruby: Read large data from stdout and stderr of an external process on Windows

  Greetings, all, I need to run a potentially long-running process from Ruby on Windows and subsequently capture and parse the data from the external process's standard output and error. A large amount of data can be sent to each, but I am only necessarily interested in one line at a time (not capturing and storing the whole of the output). After a bit of research, I found that the Open3 class would take care of executing the process and giving me IO objects connected to the process's standard output and error (via popen3). Open3.popen3("external-program.bat") do |stdin, out, err, thread| # Step3.profit() ? end However, I'm not sure how to continually read from both streams without blocking the program. Since calling IO#readlines on out or err when a lot of data has been sent results in a memory allocation error, I'm trying to continuously check both streams for available input, but not having much luck with any of my implementations. • Getting data from sharepoint into drupal

  The problem: I am about to develop a Drupal site for a company that stores a lot of data in a sharepoint environment (products, recipes etc...). I need to get that information into my Drupal system somehow. Preferably saving it as drupal nodes. That information will also be edited/added in the sharepoint system, so on top of just saving the data to drupal it will also have to check for updates on a regular basis. One idea for a solution is using some sort of web-service to retrieve data, but i have no idea of how that would be done in drupal. So my question(s) is: Has anyone done anything like this, if so how, or does anyone have any suggestions to how one would go about doing this? Any answers would be highly appreciated. /Anders

  how do you store an rsa encrypted data block? the output might be significantly greater than the original input data block size, and i dont think people waste memory by padding bucket loads of 0s in front of each data block. besides, how would they be removed? or is each block stored on new lines within the file? if that is the case, how would you tell the difference between legitimate new line and a '\n' char written into the file? what am i missing? im writing the "write to file" part in python, so maybe its one of the differences between: open(file,'w') open(file,'w+b') open(file,'wb') that i dont know. or is it something else?

  Can anyone tell me how to show animated progress bar while the data from an Excel sheet to a SQL database table is being transfered? I have a form in .aspx page. In that form, there is one FileUpload control that uploads an Excel file. While uploading that file and saving it on the server at the same time I'm transferring the data from the Excel sheet to a SQL table.   I'm adopting Castle Windsor for my WCF project and feel really amazed about this. However, I'm having a scenario that I don't really know if Castle Windsor supports. For example I have the following chained Interceptors Interceptor 1 > Interceptor 2 > Interceptor 3 > Interceptor 4 > Real method Interceptor 1 returns some data and I want that to be available in Interceptor 2 Interceptor 2 in turn does it work and returns the data that I want to make avaialbe in the 3,4, interceptor. The real case scenario is that we're having a WCF service, Interceptor 1 will parse the request header into a Header object(username, password, etc.). The latter interceptors and real method will ultilize this Header object. I know that I can use Session variable to transport data, but is it a built-in, more elegant, more reliable way to handle this?

• Best place to store large amounts of session data

  I'm building an application that needs to store and re-use large amounts of data per session. So for example, the user selects a large list of list items (say 2000 or significantly more) which have a numeric value as their key then they save that selection and go off to another page, do something else and then come back to the original page and need to load their selections into that page. What is the quickest and most efficient way of storing and reusing that data? In a text file saved with the session id? In a temp db table? In the session data itself (db sessions so size isn't a limit) using a serialised string or using gzcompress or gzencode? Any advice or insight would be great! Thank you!!!!

• EXCEL import to sql returning NULL for decimals when in VARCHAR data type

  Hi, I am working on a peice of software which has expodentially grown over the last few years and the database needs to be regularly updated. Customers are providing us with data now on large spreadsheets which we format and will start importing into the database. I am using the Import and Export Data (32-bit) Wizard. One column in the database contains values like '1.1.1.2' etc and i am importing them in as a Varchar as that is the data type in the database. However, for values like '8.5', 'NULL' is getting imported insead. It only occurs when there is one decimal point. Is this a formatting error with excel or is it the wrong datatype?

The data is a bunch of labels that I've stored in a NSMutableArray. So each row displays the contents of the array. • Android programming: Authentication and data exchange with Java EE

  I am having a Java application running in a Tomcat server using Spring, Hibernate, etc. and a two web interfaces, one implemented in Tapestry 5 and the other one using Flex with BlazeDS and Spring-BlazeDS. In my first android application I would now like to log in to the server and retrieve some data. I´m wondering how I could achieve this in a secure way. First of all I need to know which technology is the best to retrieve data from the server and how can I restrict the access to users only that have been successfully authenticated. With what I read until now I would try to implement a HTTPServlet on the server and make server calls via HTTP Client. In the servlet I could probably use the HTTPSession to check if the request comes from an authenticated user. And the data I would try to send serialized (JSON). Unfortunately, I´ve never done those things and maybe I´m on the wrong way and there are more comfortable solutions.
