  • Reduce visual redundancies in Outlook 2013?

    Outlook 2013 has taken a direction of "how much space can I fill with noise and redundancies". Is it possible to reduce this noise in order to maximize use of screen real estate? For example, in the preview pane, can I shrink the header so that it doesn't include so much info. I don't need any info for the sender and I don't need the subject, as they are both included in the email list pane. Additionally, the ability to turn off the detail bar at the bottom of the preview windows would be helpful. Having Reply/ReplyAll/Forward are also redundant and can go. Is it possible to turn this noise off?

  • Fastest way to compute a "Visual" checksum of an image

    I'm looking to create an ID system for cataloging images. I can't use md5() since that will change if I alter the EXIF tags of the image. I am currently using the SHA1 checksum computed by imagemagick. It works perfectly, but it's really, really slow on larger images (~15 seconds on a quad-core xeon for a 21 megapixel JPG). Are there any other "visual" methods of uniquely identifying an image that would be faster? Thank you.

    Which is the best Visual SVN Diff displayer for Linux. BeyondCompare and VisualSVN1.5 work well on Windows. What are the equivallent tools for Linux. Specifically Ubuntu. I know command line diff works; But I'd like multiple column syntax highlighted and differences. Better if the tool has a support for Git and Hg as well.

How can I hide the label without making it private or creating an editor template?     Hello, I'm writing a customized reflective library for some specialized custom domain logic, and that library is going to use XML configuration files that will dynamically resolve System.Type objects at runtime. However, when writing the XML configuration files, it's a bit of a pain to write the types because they need to be fully qualified assembly names for Type.GetType() to resolve them. Is there a way to find out the AssemblyQualifiedName of an object in Visual Studio without resorting to writing a program to print them out to a file or standard out or anything like that ?

  • Visual C++ 6.0 Academic Edition, using MFC as a static library

    I need to compile some mfc code that was written using Visual C++ 6.0 many years ago. I was supposed to be able to choose New-Project-Win32 Application and then in Project-Settings choose "Using MFC as a static library." I'm using the AE version and this could be the reason that this option is not available. So far, the smaller programs compile using the "Use MFC as a shared dll", but I'd like to have or mimic the other option. Any suggestions?

    Hi, I am trying to add a dll that contains some custom 3rd party conrtols and some in house user controls and am getting the following error - "The Assembly "MyASsembly.dll" could not be loaded. Check that any dependencies the file requires are installed" I am using Visual Studio 2003 and the 3rd part controls are C1. Does anyone know what is wrong? Thanks

    It's fairly simple to play a sound file, say temp.wav, from Visual Studio C#. I'm looking for a way to do this without temp.wav being locatable from the machine running the program. Here's the scenario - we have a factory class that we use heavily throughout our existing codebase, and I figured instead of refactoring it out in each class so we can substitute the default factory with one that would return mock/fake objects, I could add something in the factory class itself to return those mock objects if it detects it's running in "test" mode.

  • Disable JPanel with visual effect

    I'm looking for a good way to disable a JPanel. I'm using a MVC design for a Java Swing GUI. I want the JPanel to be disabled while the model is processing stuff. I've tried setEnabled(false). That disables user input on the JPanel, but I'd like it to be grayed out to add a more visual effect. Thanks in advance!
