  Hi there, I have running a Windows XP SP3 Machine and I can't login after I have locked my Workstation. I changed my password and installed last Updates from Microsoft last Friday. When Windows comes up, there is no problem to login. But after I locked it, it tells me that my password is wrong. I pushed the client again into the domain, but doesn't help. Thanks, cyntaxx

  I have a domain controller running on Windows 2008 Server R2 and users login to application servers on which Windows 2003 Server SP2 is installed. I have applied a Group Policy to clean temporary internet files on exit i.e to delete all temporary internet files when users close the browser. But the group policy doesn't seem to work as user profile size keeps on increasing and the major space is occupied by temporary internet files therefore increasing the disk usage. How can i enforce automatic deletion of temporary internet files?

  When I record a movie in Windows Media Center, it records it again every time it shows up in the Guide listings again - days, weeks, or months later. The movies are not listed as a Series (Recorded TV - Schedules - Series). I found many matches for this problem on Google, and no solutions.   I have MOSS. I want to make a page where a user, say administrator, could send some instructions to a server, for example using standard library and make task for a group of users forcing them to read files. After the reading users would press "already read it" and administrator would know who did it/who did not. I created simple workflow in office designer and choose assigne task to Group1, which is in the sharepoint server. After WF run everyone who is in Group1 get message about a task, that's great. However this task is general for group and if we go to the site section "current tasks", we can see it, while I want this task for every person in Group1. Futher question, is it possible to create form where administrator will choose users for this task, 'cause now I munualy set group in WF.

  I have 20 PCs (Windows XP) in remote locations connecting to the same server (Windows Server 2003) using Remote Desktop over a VPN. On just one of the PCs the remote desktop screen flashes (redraws) multiple times after connecting, the others don't. The screen resolution is the same: local is 800x600 32bit; RDP file is set to full screen, 256 color; remote when connected is 800x600 8bit color. Any suggestions what the problem might be, or what to investigate next?

• Boot win7 from laptop after booting win 8 to go from usb

  Just successfully installed and ran windows 8 to go on an external usb hdd. After shutdown and removing the usb hard disk, tried to start my laptop which has a single windows 7 system, but failed to boot and even repair trials didn't succeed. It seems that win 8 affected the strucure of the laptop hard drive which results in corruption in its main win 7 partition. How to fix that and avoid future problems of the same type? thanks.

  When my new Dell laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium and 4GB RAM sleeps (not when it hibernates), it will drain the battery overnight. My old Dell laptop with XP Pro (2 GB RAM) could sleep for days without running out of battery. Is it normal that Windows 7 sleep is this power-hungry or should I troubleshoot my new machine? Edit: I know how to set the different sleep/hibernate settings. That is not what I'm asking.

• How can I tell which "explorer.exe" process is the main one?

  I have a batch file that changes a few registry files, and then restarts explorer.exe so that they take effect. I'm using the command taskkill /f /im explorer.exe and then explorer.exe which of course kills all the explorer.exe processes, including the explorer windows I have open. Obviously, I am using the option to Launch folder windows in a separate process. Is there any way I can determine which instance of explorer.exe is the main one, and just kill that?
