  • T42 Thinkpad, USB boot, CF for programs and storage?

    Is this feasible? I have a Thinkpad T40. I'd like to get one of the tiny USB drives (like the Verbatim Store 'n' Stay series) of sufficient size to handle basic Linux OS booting (8GB?), then put 16Gb or greater memory card (SD or CF) in the PCMCIA slot with appropriate adapter for additional application programs and data storage. I know I could get a used or refurb HD, but I've had reliability issues in the past. I don't believe that new IDE drives are available.

    We are currently running a root server with Debian 6 and Plesk 10.4.4. We have some virtual hosts using one IP adress (shared) - e.g. example1.com - and another virtual host using a dedicated IP address (example2.com). Is there a way to configure postfix to do the following Always use the IP address of the virtual host to which the e-mail account belongs (so that an e-mail from [email protected] will originate from the shared IP-Address and an e-mail from [email protected] will originate from the dedicated IP? Use different certificates for TLS for example1.com and example2.com? If the latter is not possible: Could any problems arrive when using example1.com as certificate for example2.com users? Of course, example2.com users would have to configure their clients to use example1.com as the SMTP server name to avoid annoying security warnings. But if we still would be able to get the effect of the first point that would still be acceptable.

  • Thunderbird 17.0 message filters destroying my emails

    I have been using Thunderbird for years in the following manner (now it's Thunderbird 17.0 on Windows 7): I offload my IMAP emails to my local inbox weekly, then apply hundreds of message filters to said emails in order to move and store them into a few hundred subfolders. It's always worked like a charm - until recently. Now, after I apply the message filters, the emails get moved but they are destroyed in the process - bodies are scrambled up, with bits and pieces of other emails or they are simply blank! How do I fix this?

  • Firefox https problem with localhost

    I administer half a dozen servers with (among other things) Webmin. I connect to Webmin via ssh tunnel to port 10000. All of my Webmins run in https mode. Firefox from version 3.6.6. refuses to load my https://localhost:10000 pages claiming SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length. (Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long) Why is this problem NOW? It was working fine (annoying with certificate errors, but working) but now it is not working at all. I must have Google Chrome installed so I can connect to Webin.

    Hello! 2 days ago I found out that iTunes interface become buggy. Here are some screenshots: UI bugs in listview headers: iTunes doesn't download app icons in App Store: CoverFlow doesn't show album arts: Finder and other apps are working well, without any artifacts. Macbook 062 (Intel C2D 2.13, GMA950), Mac OS X 10.6.2, iTunes 9.0.2. I have reinstalled iTunes via Apple's site - nothing. What do you advice to do?

  • LDAP over SSL/TLS working for everything but login on Ubuntu

    I have gotten OpenLDAP with SSL working on a test box with a signed certificate. I can use an LDAP tool on a Windows box to view the LDAP over SSL (port 636). But when I run dpkg-reconfigure ldap-auth-config to setup my local login to use ldaps, my login under a username in the directory doesn't work. If I change the config to use just plain ldap (port 389) it works just fine (I can login under a username in the directory).   • Testing my new 120 Hz monitor.

    I just got a Samsung Syncmaster 2233 at a local store, and it's suppose to reach 120 Hz frequencies. I plan on using it with Nvidia 3D vision later on, but I don't have the hardware for that yet. In the mean time, I just want to test the monitor to see if it's working ok. Obviously, if I set it to 120Hz I can't notice any visual difference compared to 60Hz. So how can I test if the monitor is reaching the higher frequency? Thanks

Defaults to the value of the EC2_PRIVATE_KEY environment variable (if set). Overrides the default. -C, --cert CERT Specify CERT as the X509 certificate to use. Defaults to the value of the EC2_CERT environment variable (if set). Overrides the default. -K and -C are two required values, and I cant understand what values are these expecting? If I create a Keypair from Elasticfox, I get only one file to download and a fingerprint. So which of this need to get where?

Is there a place online I can download the 8.1 upgrade from home on my fast internet so I can do a network or usb install at the office? I don't want to have to download 3GB+ of updates on each and every machine through the Windows store over our slow internet connection.     I am using ipsec-tools/racoon to create my VPN. I am using racoon-tool to configure racoon.conf but when I run racoon-tool reload it only generates the first section - Global items.     We are offering multiple SSL-enabled services in our local network. To avoid certificate-warnings we bought certificates for server.ourdomain.tld and firewall.ourdomain.tld. We now created a zone in our local DNS-server in which we pointed the hosts to the corresponding private-ips. Now, each time another record for ourdomain.tld, like for example www.ourdomain.tld or alike are changed, we need to update it on both our public-dns-server AND the local dns-server. I would like our local bind-dns to serve all the information from our public-dns but serve different information for these 2 hosts. I know I could possibly have our private-ips in our public-dns but I don't want that for security reasons. The internet dns-server is being managed by a third party, while we have full control of the intranet one. Because of this I am looking for a solution which lets the intranet retrieve the records from the internet one.

I would like to set up my Nexus 7 tablet on a stand under my monitor and use it with the mouse/KB hooked up to my desktop so I can continue to use it while using my desktop without having to pick it up. I was able to find one application which claims to do this (PC Loves Android), but reviews on the Google Play store do not seem to favor it.

    Hello everyone. Question: On FreeBSD8 I need to have two opened HTTPS different ports (443 and 444, for example). In other words, I need two providers, working simultaneously: Ordinary SSL signed certificate (# Thawte) on 443 port Special russian security provider (# DIGTProvider, based on CryptoPro CSP software) on 444 port I also have to mentioned, that the major provider is the 2'nd provider. Here is some of DIGTProvider options: add to ${JRE_HOME}/lib/security/java.security this line security.provider.N=com.digt.trusted.jce.provider.DIGTProvider ssl.SocketFactory.provider=com.digt.trusted.jsse.provider.DigtSocketFactory uncomment and edit in conf/server.xml HTTPS section: sslProtocol="GostTLS" (added) edit bin/catalina.sh and add: export LD_LIBRARY_PATH="${LD_LIBRARY_PATH}:/opt/cprocsp/lib/ia32" export JAVA_OPTS="${JAVA_OPTS} -Dcom.digt.trusted.jsse.server.certFile=/home//server-gost.cer -Dcom.digt.trusted.jsse.server.keyPasswd=11111111" As I know if I just define in server.xml tomcat's configuration file two SSL connectors, tomcat would not start, because in JRE you can use only one JSSE provider.     Hi Everybody, i'm running Windows as well as Ubuntu and like to sync both tweetdeck installations via dropbox. Therefore i need to locate two files: td_26_[username].db preferences_[username].xml I found them on windows under the folder c:\Users[account]\AppData\Roaming\TweetDeckFast.[random string]\Local Store\ But i can't find them on my ubuntu installation.   • Where did this incorrect cached DNS lookup come from?

    Somehow, I've been having a chronic issue where my computer will get an invalid DNS lookup in its cache for either of the two Exchange servers I use from Mail.app. My workplace runs one of the Exchange servers and I run the other (they are totally unrelated, hosted by different companies, etc.). The problem manifests as a certificate domain error. When it happens, I can run nslookup mail.mydomain.com and I see the incorrect IP address (usually owned by either Apple or Akamai), but if I run nslookup mail.mydomain.com 8.8.8.8, I get the correct address. My real quest is to find out why this keeps happening, and to do that, I'd like to know which server is supplying me this bad DNS entry. Is there a way to check my DNS cache to see where this bad lookup came from?
