Hi,
I have installed tomcat as service successfully. when i start this from control Panel- administrative tools - services, it tows error like this,
The Apache Tomcat 4.1 service on local computer started and then stopped. Some service stop automatically if they have no work to do, for example, the performance logs and alerts sevice.
Wat is the error?
I'm using an autorun.bat to append some directory paths to the Windows PATH variable so that I can use a few tools and bat scripts within cmd.exe
I'm running into a problem where the above isn't working on a network drive.
Ex.
Using a program called mycmd.exe
Ex.1 (this works)
C:\folder\mycmd.exe
SET PATH=%PATH%;C:\folder
Ex. 2 (doesn't work)
H:\folder\mycmd.exe
SET PATH=%PATH%;H:\folder
On Firefox, I click Tools, Addons, Extensions, Greasemonkey, Options, select my user script, click Edit, change the source code, reload one of the included pages, but the script is the unchanged version.
On User Scripts, logged in, I click my username, Script Management, my script's name, Admin, Edit Code Online, change the source code, click save, the link to the install page, install and the script is the changed version.
How do you turn on Live Editing? While following Greasemonkey tutorials, this feature is not working...
could anybody suggest a light (small, fast) text editor that can
handle columnar view of csv files?
save quote character to all fields, even if not 'necessary'
OpenOffice Calc is bit big for my old laptop. My favourite Notepad++ cannot do the columnar view. And it seems to me that Sharp Tools Spreadsheet cannot import csv file. GoogleDoc convert some date fields by default which I do not want and it is really not fast and easy way how to edit csv.
I have the ability to get .wav files of voice mails emailed to me, but sometimes I'll be sitting in a meeting and I need to know the content of a message without playing it out loud.
Are there any good (and, preferably, free) tools for converting .wav files to text? I know Google Voice has this capability, but I can't determine if it'll work on a file-by-file basis.
I realize that this is a difficult research problem, but even an 80% solution might be workable.
I have a large tar archive and want to see the exact (nanosecond) timestamps that are stored for each file in the archive. In case it's relevant, the tarball is in POSIX-2001 format (tar --format=posix).
tar --list --verbose displays the timestamps rounded off to the minute.
For comparison, ls --full-time does what I want, but I'd rather not have to extract everything first because it's huge.
For my purposes, command-line and GUI tools are both fine.
I have hosting service hosted on more than 20+ Plesk servers, version 11.
As in the previous versions, the passwords were not encrypted, then if i had to design some tools to manage the hosting accounts, i just picked up the cleartext passwords from the Database. but as now the passwords are encrypted, is there any way i can decrypt the passwords? through API or any other way so that i can integrate my php based hosting management with plesk 11?
As you can see from the picture http://i.imgur.com/UpDZh.png), my server is suffering a serious drop in speed. This is intermittent and has been happening for the past 3 or 4 hours. The server has 1gbps uplink so I can't figure out why it's happening. Checking bandwidth monitoring tools like bwm-ng and dstat show normal speeds of like 150kb/s outbound traffic. Just now I was completely disconnected from SSH.
(I'm talking about the shell Fish, esp. Fish's Fish.)
For Bash/ZSH, I had ~/.profile with some exports, aliases and other stuff.
I don't want to have a separate config for environment variables for Fish, I want to re-use my ~/.profile. How?
In The FAQ, it is stated that I can at least import those via /usr/local/share/fish/tools/import_bash_settings.py, however I don't really like running that for each Fish-instance.

I want to extract an InstallSHIELD's 5 install package and above is the list of files in "data1" folder. However there is no *.hdr files so I can't extact the CAB files using tools on Internet, even though the package is still able to be installed without any error. Can anybody give me a suggestion for this please?
We have a WSS 3.0 server with a lot of wiki pages created which need to be moved over to MediaWiki.
Are there any tools that can be used to automate this process?
Thanks
I just subscribed to Ping.fm. It does contain a list of networks to choose from, but is there any site that updates me daily on what's hot in the social-networking world and what new tools are out there?
Hi,
I was able to disable file download popup in all popular browsers except Internet Explorer.
I thought this would do it, but I still get the popup:
Internet Explorer Tools Internet Options Security select zone (example: Internet) Security levels for this zone Custom level... Downloads File download Automatic prompting for file downloads Disable OK Yes OK.
I am not interested in automating the popup, I do not want it to appear.
OS is Windows 2003, Internet Explorer 8.
I have a workstation with Windows XP and I need to make a symbolic link or mount a UNC Path like a local Drive. I need the same behavior that produces M-Daemon tools when you mount an .iso File but with a remote directory. This is because I have a software client that perform several task but only with local drives and directorys.
The remote UNC path is a NAS server, thats the why I need to perform all the tasks from a workstations.
Thanks a lot!
I'm looking for something to track the errors being raised across our multiple rails applications on our multiple servers.
Ideally: the application failings sends an email to [email protected] and the email is processed in another application. This application will then show us some stats and give us some kinds of auditing tools.
A service like Hoptoad might do the trick, but I'm trying to see what's available these days. Ideally free or cheap, of course...
I'm trying to consume a SOAP web service from excel. Now according to This article (and confirmed by other articles and MSDN) if I do the following:
Install the web services toolkit (I've installed v2.01)
Install SOAP Toolkit 3.0
Add a reference to Microsoft Soap Type Library (I've tried v3.0 and an older one)
I should get a "Web Service References" menu item in the Tools menu but I don't.
I've also tried adding every reference that seemed to have anything to do with SOAP or XML, but it hasn't helped.
Any ideas?
Right now, when I right-click on a PNG or JPG, I get the Edit context menu which takes me to MSPaint. How can I associate the Paint.NET with the Edit menu?
I've tried Tools/Folder Options/File Types, but I don't really see anything there.
I am trying to create a user which has rights to the Panels (v11) CLI tools.
I've added the user to the psaadm group, as the documentation indicates, as well as the swkey-data group, as I was getting access denied for that dir.
I am using sudo to run the command as that user:
sudo -u mcp /usr/local/psa/bin/subscription --info test.com
But I am receiving this error:
Unable to connect to database: get_admin_password() failed: file_get_contents() failed:
Suggestions?
I need to run bcp.exe on a client machine which has no SQL Server 2008 installed. Does anyone know the minimum install options I need to select to get the bcp tool? I tried 'Client Tools Connectivity' but that didn't include it.
Thanks, Jon
Supposedly there is a "Windows Components" option under Advanced Settings when you run the Setup Manager (included in the \Tools\Deploy.cab from a Windows 2003 CD).
I can't get this to show up.
Is there a special trick?
Here is a screenshot of what it is supposed to look like: http://tinypic.com/r/2rm2gau/7 When I run it, it looks exactly the same except there is no "Windows Components" option above Telephony.
Background:
Currently, we use Rackspace cloud servers. We have no intention to stop using them, but would like to look into setting up a cluster of physical servers (probably desktop computers in the $400 range with 8gb memory each) to offset some of our load and work as a secondary, more powerful, less reliable system. To put things in perspective, we can buy comparable desktop computers for the same price as we pay in one month to rent them on Rackspace Cloud.
I understand that this is generally a dumb idea. However, in this particular instance, the server cluster is needed for its computation power. It is not mission-critical, it does not host a consumer-facing website, and if it goes down for a day or two, its not really a problem.
Currently, we have access to business class verizon fios. If I understand correctly, we can get at least 25 dedicated IP addresses with this service, this should be enough.
Requirements:
Each server runs Linux Centos 6.3
Some of the servers run Python and execute processes from a task queue (Redis or RabbitMQ)
Some of the servers are capable of serving static files and Python driven REST APIs
Some of the servers host a Cassandra database cluster
One or more of the servers are a Redis database servers
One or more of the servers are PostgreSQL servers
Questions:
What kind of router or switch is needed?
We would like the computers to be able to communicate effectively with each other via internal IP addresses. This is especially important for communicating with servers hosting Redis that need to be able to respond to requests very quickly. Are there special switches or routers that need to be used to connect the servers together?
Are Desktop computers ok for this?
We have found that we are mostly RAM-bottle necked, I understand that some servers have highly superior CPUs, but I'm not sure we need CPU power as much as we need RAM, which is cheap in Desktop computers.
Will we have problems with the WIFI cards in the desktops or any other unexpected hardware limitation?
What tools should be used to "image" the servers.
For example, when we get an installation right for a Redis server or Cassandra node, are there tools that come with Linux Centos 6.3 to image the server to a USB drive or something like that?
Or do we need to use some other software for this?
What other things are we missing that we should be concerned about?
Thanks so much!
What are the top N tools / methodologies used to diagnose and repair network issues?
Given a LAN, for example, where users are able to consistently ping an outside server, but any data intensive connections are flaky; how would you begin solving the network issues?
I imagine issues like congestion, bandwidth constraints, throughput constraints, etc. are all factors, but I don't know how to diagnose those issues.
I'm especially interested in LAN environments (rather than WAN)
My question is simple
is running windows 7 on a mac pro as the dominat OS a bad idea?
im interested in starting some mac programing but still want to do windows based coding.
im tossing up between a macbook pro + a desktop or just a Mac pro.
Also what development tools are available for mac?
The on screen keyboard (OSK) from the "ease of access" tools pops up on EVERY connect to the server, even if you have not activated it.
I can't seem to find a control panel or reg setting to switch it off.
It is VERY "in your face" for linux users who connect at lower resolutions and do not provide all credentials, but have to type username and password.
I'm running a 2008 R2 Terminal Server/Remote Desktop Server.
