  • Fullscreen image with jquery on window resize?

    - by lauthiamkok
    I am trying to make fullscreen images with jquery when the window resize function is triggered. But I get this kind of result - where you can see a gap at the bottom of the image which I don't know how to fix it. the basic html, <!-- container --> <div id="container" class="container"> <div class="holder-supersize" id="supersize"> <ul class="background-supersize"> <li><a href="#"><img src="styles/images/IMG_0250.jpg" alt="" width="1000" height="667" /></a></li> <li><a href="#"><img src="styles/images/IMG_0255.jpg" alt="" width="667" height="1000" /></a></li> <li class="active"><a href="#"><img src="styles/images/IMG_0323.jpg" alt="" width="1158" height="772" /></a></li> </ul> </div> </div> <!-- container --> jquery for updating image size on window resize, $(document).ready(function(){ $(window).resize(function(){ $(".holder-supersize").each(function() { //Define image ratio & minimum dimensions var minwidth = .5*(640); var minheight = .5*(480); var ratio = 480/640; //Gather browser and current image size var imagewidth = $(this).width(); var imageheight = $(this).height(); var browserwidth = $(window).width(); var browserheight = $(window).height(); //Check for minimum dimensions if ((browserheight < minheight) && (browserwidth < minwidth)){ $(this).height(minheight); $(this).width(minwidth); } else { //When browser is taller if (browserheight > browserwidth){ imageheight = browserheight; $(this).height(browserheight); imagewidth = browserheight/ratio; $(this).width(imagewidth); if (browserwidth > imagewidth){ imagewidth = browserwidth; $(this).width(browserwidth); imageheight = browserwidth * ratio; $(this).height(imageheight); } } //When browser is wider if (browserwidth >= browserheight){ imagewidth = browserwidth; $(this).width(browserwidth); imageheight = browserwidth * ratio; $(this).height(imageheight); if (browserheight > imageheight){ imageheight = browserheight; $(this).height(browserheight); imagewidth = browserheight/ratio; $(this).width(imagewidth); } } } return false; }); }); }); CSS for supersize image /* Supersize -------------------------------------------*/ .holder-supersize { width:100%; height:100%; position:absolute; left:0; top:0; z-index:0; } .background-supersize { width:100%; height:100%; overflow:hidden; position:relative; } .background-supersize li { width:100%; height:100%; overflow:hidden; position:absolute; left:0; top:0; text-align:center; } .background-supersize li img { /* for image with height < width */ /**/ width:100%; height:auto; /* for image with height > width */ /* width:auto; height:100%; */ } .background-supersize li , .background-supersize a, .background-supersize img{ display:none; } .background-supersize .active, .background-supersize .active a, .background-supersize .active img{ display:inline; } This is the link at jsfiddle and this is the link to see the actual product. Any ideas what I have done wrong and how can I fix it?

  • on click checkbox set input attr

    - by Tommy Arnold
    html form with 4 columns the first 2 columns are the sizes inside input boxes with disabled ='disabled', when they click radio button to select a size a checkbox appears, when they click that checkbox I would like to change the class and disabled attr of the inputs on that table row to allow them to edit the input box <table width="388" border="1" id="product1"> <tr> <td width="100">Width</td> <td width="100">Height</td> <td width="48">Price</td> <td width="65">Select</td> </tr> <tr> <td><input type="text" disabled='disabled'value="200"/><span> CMS</span></td> <td><input disabled='disabled'type="text" value="500"/><span> CMS</span></td> <td>£50.00</td> <td><input type="radio" name="product1" value="size1" /> Customise<input type="checkbox" name="custom[size1]" class="custombox" value="1"/></td> </tr> <tr> <td>200</td> <td>1000</td> <td>£100.00</td> <td><input type="radio" name="product1" value="size2" /> Customise<input disabled='disabled' type="checkbox" name="custom[size2]" class="custombox" value="1"/></td> </tr> <tr> <td>200</td> <td>1500</td> <td>£150</td> <td><input type="radio" name="product1" value="size3" /> Customise<input type="checkbox" name="custom[size3]" class="custombox" value="1"/></td> </tr> </table> <table width="288" border="1" id="product2"> <tr> <td width="72">Width</td> <td width="75">Height</td> <td width="48">Price</td> <td width="65">&nbsp;</td> </tr> <tr> <td>200</td> <td>500</td> <td>£50.00</td> <td><input type="radio" name="product2" value="size1" /> Customise<input type="checkbox" name="custom[size1]" class="custombox" value="1"/></td> </tr> <tr> <td>200</td> <td>1000</td> <td>£100.00</td> <td><input type="radio" name="product2" value="size2" /> Customise<input type="checkbox" name="custom[size2]" class="custombox" value="1"/></td> </tr> <tr> <td>200</td> <td>1500</td> <td>£150</td> <td><input type="radio" name="product2" value="size3" /> Customise<input type="checkbox" name="custom[size3]" class="custombox" value="1"/></td> </tr> <table> CSS input[type=checkbox] { display: none; } input[type=checkbox].shown { display: inline; } input .edit{ border:1px solid red; } input[disabled='disabled'] { border:0px; width:60px; padding:5px; float:left; background:#fff; } span{float:left; width:30px; padding:5px;} Jquery $("body :checkbox").hide(); // The most obvious way is to set radio-button click handlers for each table separatly: $("#product1 :radio").click(function() { $("#product1 :checkbox").hide(); $("#product1 .cbox").hide(); $(this).parent().children(":checkbox").show(); $(this).parent().children(".cbox").show(); }); $("#product2 :radio").click(function() { $("#product2 :checkbox").hide(); $("#product2 .cbox").hide(); $(this).parent().children(":checkbox").show(); $(this).parent().children(".cbox").show(); }); This is what I thought but its not working $("#product1 :checkbox").click(function(){ $(this).parent("tr").children("td :input").attr('disabled',''); $(this).parent("tr").children("td :input").toggleClass(edit); }); $("#product2 :checkbox").click(function(){ $(this).parent("tr").children("td :input").attr('disabled',''); $(this).parent("tr").children("td :input").toggleClass(edit); }); Thanks in advance for any help.

  • I just don't know what it is, tried everything, IE 7 bug

    - by Emmy
    Has anyone seen this bug? I have a sidebar with a ul nav background image for the hover state, floated right, looks great in all browsers. Then...I added another div underneath it for ad space. inside, there's an anchored image. That image tucks underneath the background image of the nav, but only in IE7 (i abandoned trying to please ie6). So I took it out of the sidebar, played with float, display,height hacks, but nothing works I can declare a large top margin with some more top padding do get it to clear but it breaks the design. i even tried creating a div called clear and put a top margin there. so it displays with this huge gap in chrome, FF, safari but this tiny space between in IE. i even tried creating a div called clear and put a top margin there. I have spent hours trying to find someone with the same problem but to no avail. Any suggestions? Here's a code snippet: <div id="leftsidebar"> <div id="leftnav"> <ul class="slidenav" id="sidenav"> <li id="overview" class="inactive"> <a href="expat.html">expat lifestyle</a> </li> <li id="tips" class="inactive"> <a href="traveltips.html">travel tips</a> </li> <li id="bts" class="inactive"> <a href="bts-mrt.html">bts/mrt</a> </li> <li id="bus" class="inactive"> <a href="bus.html">bus system</a> </li> <li id="van" class="inactive"> <a href="taxi.html">vans/taxis</a> </li> <li id="boat" class="inactive"> <a href="klong.html">boats/klong</a> </li> <li id="boat" class="inactive"> <a href="klong.html">boats/klong</a> </li> <li id="tuk" class="inactive"> <a href="tuk.html">tuk-tuks</a> </li> <li id="train" class="inactive"> <a href="train.html">trains</a> </li> <li id="airport" class="inactive"> <a href="airport.html">int'l airport</a> </li> <li id="dangers" class="inactive"> <a href="dangers.html">dangers</a> </li> <li id="fun" class="inactive"> <a href="fun.html">fun places</a> </li> <li id="shopping" class="inactive"> <a href="shopping.html">shopping</a> </li> </ul> </div> </div> <div id="store"> <a href="astore.amazon.com/ten044-20"; title="Shop WIB store"> <img src="images/WIBstore.png" height="70" width="200" border="none"/> </a> </div> the corresponding CSS: #leftsidebar { float:right; width: 210px; margin: 40px 0 0 0; padding: 0; height:1%; } #store { margin: 20px 0px 0 0px; padding: 0 10px 0 0; float: right; height: 1%; display: inline; } And an image:

  • jQuery Validation plugin: prompt for override

    - by Sam Carleton
    I have a jQuery form that has validation of a sort. It is a data entry screen with two 'recommend ranges', one is 36-84, the other 50-300. The business rules call for the values to be either blank or greater than zero, but to prompt for confirmation if the values are outside of the range listed above. I have seen some other threads that talk about setting the class="cancel" on the submit button. From what I can tell, this will simply disable the validation. I need to prompt for a "do you want to continue, yes or no?" and if no stop the submit, if yes, continue. Below is an example from the book Pro jQuery. By default the top row needs to be between 10 and 20 to submit. How would you change it so that it prompts you and if you say Yes it submits, no prevents the submit: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <title>Example</title> <script src="jquery-1.7.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="jquery.tmpl.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="jquery.validate.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <style type="text/css"> h1 { min-width: 70px; border: thick double black; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; font-size: x-large; padding: .5em; color: darkgreen; background-image: url("border.png"); background-size: contain; margin-top: 0; } .dtable {display: table;} .drow {display: table-row;} .dcell {display: table-cell; padding: 10px;} .dcell > * {vertical-align: middle} input {width: 2em; text-align: right; border: thin solid black; padding: 2px;} label {width: 5em; padding-left: .5em; display: inline-block;} #buttonDiv {text-align: center;} #oblock {display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; min-width: 700px; } div.errorMsg {color: red} .invalidElem {border: medium solid red} </style> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { var data = [ { name: "Astor", product: "astor", stocklevel: "10", price: "2.99"}, { name: "Daffodil", product: "daffodil", stocklevel: "12", price: "1.99"}, { name: "Rose", product: "rose", stocklevel: "2", price: "4.99"}, { name: "Peony", product: "peony", stocklevel: "0", price: "1.50"}, { name: "Primula", product: "primula", stocklevel: "1", price: "3.12"}, { name: "Snowdrop", product: "snowdrop", stocklevel: "15", price: "0.99"}, ]; var templResult = $('#flowerTmpl').tmpl(data); templResult.slice(0, 3).appendTo('#row1'); templResult.slice(3).appendTo("#row2"); $('form').validate({ highlight: function(element, errorClass) { $(element).add($(element).parent()).addClass("invalidElem"); }, unhighlight: function(element, errorClass) { $(element).add($(element).parent()).removeClass("invalidElem"); }, errorElement: "div", errorClass: "errorMsg" }); $.validator.addClassRules({ flowerValidation: { required: true, min: 0, max: 100, digits: true, } }) $('#row1 input').each(function(index, elem) { $(elem).rules("add", { min: 10, max: 20 }) }); $('input').addClass("flowerValidation").change(function(e) { $('form').validate().element($(e.target)); }); }); </script> <script id="flowerTmpl" type="text/x-jquery-tmpl"> <div class="dcell"> <img src="${product}.png"/> <label for="${product}">${name}: </label> <input name="${product}" value="0" required /> </div> </script> </head> <body> <h1>Jacqui's Flower Shop</h1> <form method="post" action="http://node.jacquisflowershop.com/order"> <div id="oblock"> <div class="dtable"> <div id="row1" class="drow"> </div> <div id="row2"class="drow"> </div> </div> </div> <div id="buttonDiv"><button type="submit">Place Order</button></div> </form> </body> </html>

  • What's a clean way to have the server return a JavaScript function which would then be invoked?

    - by Khnle
    My application is architected as a host of plug-ins that have not yet been written. There's a long reason for this, but with each new year, the business logic will be different and we don't know what it will be like (Think of TurboTax if that helps). The plug-ins consist of both server and client components. The server components deals with business logic and persisting the data into database tables which will be created at a later time as well. The JavaScript manipulates the DOM for the browsers to render afterward. Each plugin lives in a separate assembly, so that they won't disturb the main application, i.e., we don't want to recompile the main application. Long story short, I am looking for a way to return JavaScript functions to the client from an Ajax get request, and execute these JavaScript functions (which are just returned). Invoking a function in Javascript is easy. The hard part is how to organize or structure so that I won't have to deal with maintenance problem. So concat using StringBuilder to end up with JavaScript code as a result of calling toString() from the string builder object is out of the question. I want to have no difference between writing JavaScript codes normally and writing Javascript codes for this dynamic purpose. An alternative is to manipulate the DOM on the server side, but I doubt that it would be as elegantly as using jQuery on the client side. I am open for a C# library that supports chainable calls like jQuery that also manipulates the DOM too. Do you have any idea or is it too much to ask or are you too confused? Edit1: The point is to avoid recompiling, hence the plug-ins architecture. In some other parts of the program, I already use the concept of dynamically loading Javascript files. That works fine. What I am looking here is somewhere in the middle of the program when an Ajax request is sent to the server. Edit 2: To illustrate my question: Normally, you would see the following code. An Ajax request is sent to the server, a JSON result is returned to the client which then uses jQuery to manipulate the DOM (creating tag and adding to the container in this case). $.ajax({ type: 'get', url: someUrl, data: {'': ''}, success: function(data) { var ul = $('<ul>').appendTo(container); var decoded = $.parseJSON(data); $.each(decoded, function(i, e) { var li = $('<li>').text(e.FIELD1 + ',' + e.FIELD2 + ',' + e.FIELD3); ul.append(li); }); } }); The above is extremely simple. But next year, what the server returns is totally different and how the data to be rendered would also be different. In a way, this is what I want: var container = $('#some-existing-element-on-the-page'); $.ajax({ type: 'get', url: someUrl, data: {'': ''}, success: function(data) { var decoded = $.parseJSON(data); var fx = decoded.fx; var data = decode.data; //fx is the dynamic function that create the DOM from the data and append to the existing container fx(container, data); } }); I don't need to know, at this time what data would be like, but in the future I will, and I can then write fx accordingly.

  • Fetch image from folder via datatable does not work after placing image in subdirectory

    - by Arnold Bishkoff
    I am having trouble wrapping my head around the following I have code that fetches an image via smarty in a line img src="getsnap.php?picid={$data[$smarty.section.sec.index].picno|default:$nextpic}&typ=pic&width={$config.disp_snap_width}&height={$config.disp_snap_height}" class="smallpic" alt="" / this works if i pull the image from /temp/userimages/userid/imageNo.ext but because an OS can segfault if you store too many folders or images in a directory i have code that assigns the user image to a subdirectory based upon division of a subdir per 1000 userids. so in thise case i have user id 94 whos images get stored in /siteroot/temp/userimages/000000/94/pic_1.jpg (through 10) or tn_1 (through 10).jpg here is the code for getsnap.php <?php ob_start(); if ( !defined( 'SMARTY_DIR' ) ) { include_once( 'init.php' ); } include('core/snaps_functions.php'); if (isset($_REQUEST['username']) && $_REQUEST['username'] != '') { $userid = $osDB-getOne('select id from ! where username = ?',array(USER_TABLE, $_REQUEST['username']) ); } else { // include ( 'sessioninc.php' ); if( !isset($_GET['id']) || (isset($_GET['id'])&& (int)$_GET['id'] <= 0 ) ) { $userid = $_SESSION['UserId']; } else { $userid = $_GET['id']; } } if (!isset($_GET['picid']) ) { if ((isset($_REQUEST['type']) && $_REQUEST['type'] != 'gallery') || !isset($_REQUEST['type']) ) { $defpic = $osDB-getOne('select picno from ! where userid = ? and ( album_id is null or album_id = ?) and default_pic = ? and active = ?   • wpf custom control problem

    - by josika
    Hi! I have a problem, and I have not found the solution yet. I woud like to create a base custom control and use it in another custom control. The base control work fine when I use in a window, but when I use in the other custom control, the binding does not work. What's wrong with my code? Code: Model: public class ElementModel { public string Name { get; set; } public string FullName { get; set; } } The base control: public class ListControl : Control { static ListControl() { DefaultStyleKeyProperty.OverrideMetadata(typeof(ListControl), new FrameworkPropertyMetadata(typeof(ListControl))); } public ListControl() { SetValue(ElementListProperty, new List<ElementModel>()); } public static readonly DependencyProperty ElementListProperty = DependencyProperty.Register( "ElementList", typeof(List<ElementModel>), typeof(ListControl), new FrameworkPropertyMetadata(new List<ElementModel>()) ); public List<ElementModel> ElementList { get { return (List<ElementModel>)GetValue(ElementListProperty); } set { SetValue(ElementListProperty, value); } } } The Wrapper Control: public class ListWrapper : Control { static ListWrapper() { DefaultStyleKeyProperty.OverrideMetadata(typeof(ListWrapper), new FrameworkPropertyMetadata(typeof(ListWrapper))); } public ListWrapper() { SetValue(EMListProperty, new List<ElementModel>()); } public static readonly DependencyProperty EMListProperty = DependencyProperty.Register( "EMList", typeof(List<ElementModel>), typeof(ListWrapper), new FrameworkPropertyMetadata(new List<ElementModel>()) ); public List<ElementModel> EMList { get { return (List<ElementModel>)GetValue(EMListProperty); } set { SetValue(EMListProperty, value); } } } Generic.xaml <ResourceDictionary xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:local="clr-namespace:UIControl"> <Style TargetType="{x:Type local:ListControl}"> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type local:ListControl}"> <Border Background="{TemplateBinding Background}" BorderBrush="{TemplateBinding BorderBrush}" BorderThickness="{TemplateBinding BorderThickness}"> <ListBox ItemsSource="{TemplateBinding ElementList}"> <ListBox.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <StackPanel> <Label Content="Name:"/> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Path=Name}" /> <Label Content="Full name:"/> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Path=FullName}" /> </StackPanel> </DataTemplate> </ListBox.ItemTemplate> </ListBox> </Border> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Style> <Style TargetType="{x:Type local:ListWrapper}"> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type local:ListWrapper}"> <Border Background="{TemplateBinding Background}" BorderBrush="{TemplateBinding BorderBrush}" BorderThickness="{TemplateBinding BorderThickness}"> <local:ListControl ElementList="{TemplateBinding EMList}" /> </Border> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Style> If I put the controls in the window and binding properties, than the ListControl works fine and shows the elements, but the WrapperList does not. <Window x:Class="MainApplication.Window1" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:ui="clr-namespace:UIControl;assembly=UIControl" Title="Window1" Height="304" Width="628"> <Grid> <ui:ListControl x:Name="listCtr" ElementList="{Binding Path=EList}" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Width="300" /> <ui:ListWrapper x:Name="listWrp" EMList="{Binding Path=EList}" HorizontalAlignment="Right" Width="300" Background="Gray"/> </Grid> Project archive

  • Webkit browser jQuery transformations/transitions not working with jSplitSlider

    - by user3689793
    I am helping to build a site and i'm having an issue with the functionality of an add-in called jsplitslider when running it in chrome. Right now, when I navigate between the slides, the div's get stuck on top of each other and never clear the webkit transformations/animations: <div class="sl-content-slice" style="transition: all 800ms ease-in-out; -webkit-transition: all 800ms ease-in-out;"> I think the problem is due to timing of the functions, but I can't seem to figure out where I would need to add a setTimeout(). I only think this because I exhausted a lot of the other options like display: inline-block, notransitions css, etc. I'm desperate to figure out how to make this work in chrome. It works in FF and IE(surprisingly enough). I'm not great at webcoding, so any help will be appreciated! The code on the site isn't minimized. Here is the jQuery where I think the problem lies: var cssStyle = config.orientation === 'horizontal' ? { marginTop : -this.size.height / 2 } : { marginLeft : -this.size.width / 2 }, // default slide's slices style resetStyle = { 'transform' : 'translate(0%,0%) rotate(0deg) scale(1)', opacity : 1 }, // slice1 style slice1Style = config.orientation === 'horizontal' ? { 'transform' : 'translateY(-' + this.options.translateFactor + '%) rotate(' + config.slice1angle + 'deg) scale(' + config.slice1scale + ')' } : { 'transform' : 'translateX(-' + this.options.translateFactor + '%) rotate(' + config.slice1angle + 'deg) scale(' + config.slice1scale + ')' }, // slice2 style slice2Style = config.orientation === 'horizontal' ? { 'transform' : 'translateY(' + this.options.translateFactor + '%) rotate(' + config.slice2angle + 'deg) scale(' + config.slice2scale + ')' } : { 'transform' : 'translateX(' + this.options.translateFactor + '%) rotate(' + config.slice2angle + 'deg) scale(' + config.slice2scale + ')' }; if( this.options.optOpacity ) { slice1Style.opacity = 0; slice2Style.opacity = 0; } // we are adding the classes sl-trans-elems and sl-trans-back-elems to the slide that is either coming "next" // or going "prev" according to the direction. // the idea is to make it more interesting by giving some animations to the respective slide's elements //( dir === 'next' ) ? $nextSlide.addClass( 'sl-trans-elems' ) : $currentSlide.addClass( 'sl-trans-back-elems' ); $currentSlide.removeClass( 'sl-trans-elems' ); var transitionProp = { 'transition' : 'all ' + this.options.speed + 'ms ease-in-out' }; // add the 2 slices and animate them $movingSlide.css( 'z-index', this.slidesCount ) .find( 'div.sl-content-wrapper' ) .wrap( $( '<div class="sl-content-slice" />' ).css( transitionProp ) ) .parent() .cond( dir === 'prev', function() { var slice = this; this.css( slice1Style ); setTimeout( function() { slice.css( resetStyle ); }, 150 ); }, function() { var slice = this; setTimeout( function() { slice.css( slice1Style ); }, 150 ); } ) .clone() .appendTo( $movingSlide ) .cond( dir === 'prev', function() { var slice = this; this.css( slice2Style ); setTimeout( function() { $currentSlide.addClass( 'sl-trans-back-elems' ); if( self.support ) { slice.css( resetStyle ).on( self.transEndEventName, function() { self._onEndNavigate( slice, $currentSlide, dir ); } ); } else { self._onEndNavigate( slice, $currentSlide, dir ); } }, 150 ); }, function() { var slice = this; setTimeout( function() { $nextSlide.addClass( 'sl-trans-elems' ); if( self.support ) { slice.css( slice2Style ).on( self.transEndEventName, function() { self._onEndNavigate( slice, $currentSlide, dir ); } ); } else { self._onEndNavigate( slice, $currentSlide, dir ); } }, 150 ); } ) .find( 'div.sl-content-wrapper' ) .css( cssStyle ); $nextSlide.show(); }, _validateValues : function( config ) { // OK, so we are restricting the angles and scale values here. // This is to avoid the slices wrong sides to be shown. // you can adjust these values as you wish but make sure you also ajust the // paddings of the slides and also the options.translateFactor value and scale data attrs if( config.slice1angle > this.options.maxAngle || config.slice1angle < -this.options.maxAngle ) { config.slice1angle = this.options.maxAngle; } if( config.slice2angle > this.options.maxAngle || config.slice2angle < -this.options.maxAngle ) { config.slice2angle = this.options.maxAngle; } if( config.slice1scale > this.options.maxScale || config.slice1scale <= 0 ) { config.slice1scale = this.options.maxScale; } if( config.slice2scale > this.options.maxScale || config.slice2scale <= 0 ) { config.slice2scale = this.options.maxScale; } if( config.orientation !== 'vertical' && config.orientation !== 'horizontal' ) { config.orientation = 'horizontal' } }, _onEndNavigate : function( $slice, $oldSlide, dir ) { // reset previous slide's style after next slide is shown var $slide = $slice.parent(), removeClasses = 'sl-trans-elems sl-trans-back-elems'; // remove second slide's slice $slice.remove(); // unwrap.. $slide.css( 'z-index', 10 ) .find( 'div.sl-content-wrapper' ) .unwrap(); // hide previous current slide $oldSlide.hide().removeClass( removeClasses ); $slide.removeClass( removeClasses ); // now we can navigate again.. this.isAnimating = false; this.options.onAfterChange( $slide, this.current ); }, Sorry if I missed any conventions when posting, this is my first S.O. post.   • centering ul so that columns will be centered too

    - by user1815176
    In my page I want it so that when you resize the page past the point of the pictures, that the pictures will go into another row, all the way so each picture has it's own row. And then potentially I won't need any media queries. But unfortunaltely I can't find a way to center. I have tried everything I can think of, aside of making hundreds of media queries with different positioning. I can't make it a block because then it won't go into rows, I have tried margin: 0 auto;. I have tried changing the padding, I have even tried using the html align="center". Nothing is working. Here is the website http://spencedesign.netau.net/singaporehome.html Also I have a minor issue, sorry to croud this with two questions. But when it is in it's mobile state, there is no 10px padding at the bottom, and the singapore title is on the left side rather than floating. Here is my code <html> <head> <title> Singapore - Home </title> <link rel="shortcut icon" href="favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" /> <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial scale=1.0"> <style> * { margin: 0; padding: 0; } body { background: url('woodbackground.jpg'); background-size: cover; min-height: 100%; min-width: 100%; position: relative; top: 0; bottom: 0; left: 0; right: 0; } #container { width: 90%; margin: 0 auto; } h1 { font: bold 65px Helvetica, Arial, Sans-serif; text-align: center; color: #eee; position: relative; top: 60px; } h3 { font: 25px Helvetica, Arial, Sans-serif; text-align: center; color: #eee; position: relative; top: 80px; } ul#gallery { list-style: none; display: inline; margin: 0 auto; position: relative; top: 175px; width: 1300px; } ul#gallery li a { float: left; padding: 10px 10px 25px 10px; background-color: #eee; border: 1px solid #fff; -moz-box-shadow: 0px 2px 15px #333; position: relative; margin: 10px; text-decoration: none; } ul#gallery li a:hover { position: relative; top: -15px; } ul#gallery li a img { height: 150px; width: 250px; max-width: 100%; } ul#gallery li a p { margin-top: 25px; text-align: center; color: #000; font: Helvetica, Arial, Sans-serif; text-decoration: none; font-size: 20px; } @media screen and (max-width: 640px)    { ul#gallery {   left: 2.2%;   width: 600px; }   ul#gallery li a:hover {   top: 0px; } } </style> <body> <div id="container"> <h1> Singapore </h1> <h3><i> Singapore is the worlds first machine that works </i>- Lee Kuan Yew </h3> <ul id="gallery"> <li><a href="#"> <img src="gallery.jpg" alt="gallery" /> <p> Gallery </p> </a></li> <li><a href="#"> <img src="facts.jpg" alt="facts" /> <p> Facts </p></a></li> <li><a href="#"> <img src="tour.jpg" alt="tour" /> <p> Tour </p></a></li> <li><a href="#"> <img src="author.jpg" alt="author" /> <p> Author </p> </a></li> </ul> <br/> </div><!-- Container --> </body> <html> Thanks!

  • Different behavior for REF CURSOR between Oracle 10g and 11g when unique index present?

    - by wweicker
    Description I have an Oracle stored procedure that has been running for 7 or so years both locally on development instances and on multiple client test and production instances running Oracle 8, then 9, then 10, and recently 11. It has worked consistently until the upgrade to Oracle 11g. Basically, the procedure opens a reference cursor, updates a table then completes. In 10g the cursor will contain the expected results but in 11g the cursor will be empty. No DML or DDL changed after the upgrade to 11g. This behavior is consistent on every 10g or 11g instance I've tried (10.2.0.3, 10.2.0.4, 11.1.0.7, 11.2.0.1 - all running on Windows). The specific code is much more complicated but to explain the issue in somewhat realistic overview: I have some data in a header table and a bunch of child tables that will be output to PDF. The header table has a boolean (NUMBER(1) where 0 is false and 1 is true) column indicating whether that data has been processed yet. The view is limited to only show rows in that have not been processed (the view also joins on some other tables, makes some inline queries and function calls, etc). So at the time when the cursor is opened, the view shows one or more rows, then after the cursor is opened an update statement runs to flip the flag in the header table, a commit is issued, then the procedure completes. On 10g, the cursor opens, it contains the row, then the update statement flips the flag and running the procedure a second time would yield no data. On 11g, the cursor never contains the row, it's as if the cursor does not open until after the update statement runs. I'm concerned that something may have changed in 11g (hopefully a setting that can be configured) that might affect other procedures and other applications. What I'd like to know is whether anyone knows why the behavior is different between the two database versions and whether the issue can be resolved without code changes. Update 1: I managed to track the issue down to a unique constraint. It seems that when the unique constraint is present in 11g the issue is reproducible 100% of the time regardless of whether I'm running the real world code against the actual objects or the following simple example. Update 2: I was able to completely eliminate the view from the equation. I have updated the simple example to show the problem exists even when querying directly against the table. Simple Example CREATE TABLE tbl1 ( col1 VARCHAR2(10), col2 NUMBER(1) ); INSERT INTO tbl1 (col1, col2) VALUES ('TEST1', 0); /* View is no longer required to demonstrate the problem CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW vw1 (col1, col2) AS SELECT col1, col2 FROM tbl1 WHERE col2 = 0; */ CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE pkg1 AS TYPE refWEB_CURSOR IS REF CURSOR; PROCEDURE proc1 (crs OUT refWEB_CURSOR); END pkg1; CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE BODY pkg1 IS PROCEDURE proc1 (crs OUT refWEB_CURSOR) IS BEGIN OPEN crs FOR SELECT col1 FROM tbl1 WHERE col1 = 'TEST1' AND col2 = 0; UPDATE tbl1 SET col2 = 1 WHERE col1 = 'TEST1'; COMMIT; END proc1; END pkg1; Anonymous Block Demo DECLARE crs1 pkg1.refWEB_CURSOR; TYPE rectype1 IS RECORD ( col1 vw1.col1%TYPE ); rec1 rectype1; BEGIN pkg1.proc1 ( crs1 ); DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('begin first test'); LOOP FETCH crs1 INTO rec1; EXIT WHEN crs1%NOTFOUND; DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE(rec1.col1); END LOOP; DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('end first test'); END; /* After creating this index, the problem is seen */ CREATE UNIQUE INDEX unique_col1 ON tbl1 (col1); /* Reset data to initial values */ TRUNCATE TABLE tbl1; INSERT INTO tbl1 (col1, col2) VALUES ('TEST1', 0); DECLARE crs1 pkg1.refWEB_CURSOR; TYPE rectype1 IS RECORD ( col1 vw1.col1%TYPE ); rec1 rectype1; BEGIN pkg1.proc1 ( crs1 ); DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('begin second test'); LOOP FETCH crs1 INTO rec1; EXIT WHEN crs1%NOTFOUND; DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE(rec1.col1); END LOOP; DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('end second test'); END; Example of what the output on 10g would be:   begin first test   TEST1   end first test   begin second test   TEST1   end second test Example of what the output on 11g would be:   begin first test   TEST1   end first test   begin second test   end second test Clarification I can't remove the COMMIT because in the real world scenario the procedure is called from a web application. When the data provider on the front end calls the procedure it will issue an implicit COMMIT when disconnecting from the database anyways. So if I remove the COMMIT in the procedure then yes, the anonymous block demo would work but the real world scenario would not because the COMMIT would still happen. Question Why is 11g behaving differently? Is there anything I can do other than re-write the code?

  • JQuery Dynamic Element - In DOM but unable to bind

    - by Grant80
    Hi All, I'm new to using JQuery so bear with me. I had implmented some code based on a js file that I found online which enables a series of div tags within a nested structure on my page to step through and show each one individually on the page. This all works great when I define the div tags as static entries in the masterpage. I should add that this is being implemented in a SharePoint master page. Ultimately though, with a static collection of div tags ideally containing an image with some descriptive text, and a hyperlink its not very flexible. Roll on my changes to make this a little more configurable. I have implemented some additional code that will read from a SharePoint list via an ajax call to the lists web service. For each entry in the list I am building a div tag that contains the information required dynamically. For testing, I am only pulling the title through at present. I have used the following code: $('#beltDiv').append(divHTML) to append the divs in the loop that are created to my nested structure on the page. I figured that this would cause the fade code to work as expected but I was wrong. It doesn't do anything at all. When check the source on the page, the div tags are not shown. They are however available in the DOM model when viewed through the IE developer toolbar. The issue (I think) looks to be that the initiation of the featureFade code is not working due to the div tags being unavailable. Is there a way to address this? The code used is shown below: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { var soapEnv = "<soapenv:Envelope xmlns:soapenv='http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/'> \ <soapenv:Body> \ <GetListItems xmlns='http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap/'> \ <listName>Carousel Items</listName> \ <viewFields> \ <ViewFields> \ <FieldRef Name='Title' /> \ </ViewFields> \ </viewFields> \ </GetListItems> \ </soapenv:Body> \ </soapenv:Envelope>"; $.ajax({ url: "_vti_bin/lists.asmx", type: "POST", dataType: "xml", data: soapEnv, complete: processResult, contentType: "text/xml; charset=\"utf-8\"" }); }); function processResult(xData, status) { $(xData.responseXML).find("z\\:row").each(function() { var divHTML = "<div id=\"divPanel_" + $(this).attr("ows_Title") + "\" class=\"panel\" style=\"background:url('http://devSP2010/sites/SPSOPS/Style Library/SharePointOps/Images/01.jpg') no-repeat; width:650px; height:55px;\"><div><div class=\"content\"><div><P><A style=\"COLOR: #cc0000\" href=\"www.google.com\">" + $(this).attr("ows_Title") + "</A></P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>&nbsp;</P></div></div></div></div>"; $("#beltDiv").append(divHTML); }); } featureFade.setup({ galleryid: 'headlines', beltclass: 'belt', panelclass: 'panel', autostep: { enable: true, moveby: 1, pause: 10000 }, panelbehavior: { speed: 1000, wraparound: true }, stepImgIDs: ["ftOne", "ftTwo", "ftThree", "ftFour","ftFive"], defaultButtons: { itemOn: "Style Library/SharePointOps/Images/dotOn.png", itemOff: "Style Library/SharePointOps/Images/dotOff.png" } }); The section where the div tags are dynamically appended is shown below. I've commented out the static div tags that work as expected. The only change is that these are implmented by the JQuery logic: <div class="homeFeature" style="display:inline-block"> <div id="headlines" class="headlines"> <div id="beltDiv" class="belt"> <!-- <div id="divPanel_ct01" class="panel" style="position:absolute;background-image:url('http://devsp2010/sites/spsops/Style Library/SharePointOps/Images/01.jpg'); background-repeat:no-repeat">Static Test 1</div> <div id="divPanel_ct02" class="panel" style="position:absolute;background-image:url('http://devsp2010/sites/spsops/Style Library/SharePointOps/Images/02.jpg'); background-repeat:no-repeat">Static Test 2</div> --> </div> </div> I'm stumped as to why it's not recognising the dynamically added elements in the DOM. Any help would be greatly appreciated on this. I'm happy to provide any further information on this. Thanks in advance, Grant Further to the answer recieved: I have modified the function call: function processResult(xData, status) { $(xData.responseXML).find("z\\:row").each( function() { /*alert($(this).attr("ows_ImagePath"));*/ var divHTML = "<div id=\"divPanel_" + $(this).attr("ows_Title") + "\" class=\"panel\" style=\"background:url('http://devSP2010/sites/SPSOPS/Style Library/SharePointOps/Images/ClydePort01big.jpg') no-repeat; width:650px; height:55px;\"><div><div class=\"content\"><div><P><A style=\"COLOR: #cc0000\" href=\"www.google.com\">" + $(this).attr("ows_Title") + "</A></P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>&nbsp;</P></div></div></div></div>"; $("#beltDiv").append(divHTML); } ); featureFade.setup( { galleryid: 'headlines', beltclass: 'belt', panelclass: 'panel', autostep: { enable: true, moveby: 1, pause: 10000 }, panelbehavior: { speed: 1000, wraparound: true }, stepImgIDs: ["ftOne", "ftTwo", "ftThree", "ftFour","ftFive"], defaultButtons: { itemOn: "Style Library/SharePointOps/Images/dotOn.png", itemOff: "Style Library/SharePointOps/Images/dotOff.png" } } ); }

  • ComboBox values disappears after selected when objects used for display

    - by Gakk
    I have a combobox where I want to display objects and have enum values returned. When first opened the combobox displays the items as supposed, but after a value is chosen it seems to disappear from the list. But if the combobox is active I can use the keyboard to navigate up and down between the other values, so they are in the list but only invisible. I have created a little test application to show my problem. When started the application shows the combobox with all the choices (the two first are type of Object, the third is a String): After the blue line is selected and when the combobox is opened again this line is missing: When the line with the text "Green" is selected that line is still showing: If I had chosen the red line the only thing that would still be in the list is the test "Green". I am using .NET Framework 3.5. Any hints or tips to why the elements disappears? Here are all the code needed after starting a blank project in Visual Studio. MainWindow.xaml.cs: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Diagnostics; namespace Test { public partial class MainWindow { public MainWindow() { InitializeComponent(); } private ColorComboBoxValue _activeColor; public ColorComboBoxValue ActiveColor { get { return _activeColor; } set { _activeColor = value; Debug.WriteLine("ActiveColor: " + _activeColor.Color); } } } public class ColorList : List<ColorComboBoxValue> { } public class ColorComboBoxValue { public Color Color { get; set; } public Object Object { get; set; } } public enum Color { Red, Blue, Green } } MainWindow.xaml: <Window x:Class="Test.MainWindow" x:Name="window" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:System="clr-namespace:System;assembly=mscorlib" xmlns:local="clr-namespace:Test" Title="ComboBoxTest" Height="100" Width="200"> <Window.Resources> <local:ColorList x:Key="ColorList"> <local:ColorComboBoxValue Color="Red"> <local:ColorComboBoxValue.Object> <Path Data="M0,0 L0,30 60,30 60,0 Z" Fill="Red"/> </local:ColorComboBoxValue.Object> </local:ColorComboBoxValue> <local:ColorComboBoxValue Color="Blue"> <local:ColorComboBoxValue.Object> <Path Data="M0,0 L0,30 60,30 60,0 Z" Fill="Blue"/> </local:ColorComboBoxValue.Object> </local:ColorComboBoxValue> <local:ColorComboBoxValue Color="Green"> <local:ColorComboBoxValue.Object> <System:String>Green</System:String> </local:ColorComboBoxValue.Object> </local:ColorComboBoxValue> </local:ColorList> </Window.Resources> <ComboBox ItemsSource="{Binding Source={StaticResource ColorList}}" SelectedItem="{Binding ActiveColor, ElementName=window}"> <ComboBox.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <ContentPresenter Content="{Binding Path=Object}"/> </DataTemplate> </ComboBox.ItemTemplate> </ComboBox> </Window>

  • Reusing my PagedList object on WCF

    - by AlexCode
    The problem: I have a custom collection PagedList<T> that is being returned from my WCF service as PagedListOfEntitySearchResultW_SH0Zpu5 when T is EntitySearchResult object. I want to reuse this PagedList<T> type between the application and the service. My scenario: I've created a PagedList<T> type that inherits from List<T>. This type is on a separated assembly that is referenced on both application and WCF service. I'm using the /reference option on the scvutil to enable the type reusing. I also don't want any arrays returned so I also use the /collection to map to the generic List type. I'm using the following svcutil command to generate the service proxy: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.0A\Bin\NETFX 4.0 Tools\svcutil.exe" /collectionType:System.Collections.Generic.List`1 /reference:..\..\bin\Debug\App.Utilities.dll http://localhost/App.MyService/MyService.svc?wsdl /namespace:*,"App.ServiceReferences.MyService" /out:..\ServiceProxy\MyService.cs The PagedList object is something like: [CollectionDataContract] public partial class PagedList<T> : List<T> { public PagedList() { } /// <summary> /// Creates a new instance of the PagedList object and doesn't apply any pagination algorithm. /// The only calculated property is the TotalPages, everything else needed must be passed to the object. /// </summary> /// <param name="source"></param> /// <param name="pageNumber"></param> /// <param name="pageSize"></param> /// <param name="totalRecords"></param> public PagedList(IEnumerable<T> source, int pageNumber, int pageSize, int totalRecords) { if (source == null) source = new List<T>(); this.AddRange(source); PagingInfo.PageNumber = pageNumber; PageSize = pageSize; TotalRecords = totalRecords; } public PagedList(IEnumerable<T> source, PagingInfo paging) { this.AddRange(source); this._pagingInfo = paging; } [DataMember] public int TotalRecords { get; set; } [DataMember] public int PageSize { get; set; } public int TotalPages() { if (this.TotalRecords > 0 && PageSize > 0) return (int)Math.Ceiling((double)TotalRecords / (double)PageSize); else return 0; } public bool? HasPreviousPage() { return (PagingInfo.PageNumber > 1); } public bool? HasNextPage() { return (PagingInfo.PageNumber < TotalPages()); } public bool? IsFirstPage() { return PagingInfo.PageNumber == 1; } public bool? IsLastPage() { return PagingInfo.PageNumber == TotalPages(); } PagingInfo _pagingInfo = null; [DataMember] public PagingInfo PagingInfo { get { if (_pagingInfo == null) _pagingInfo = new PagingInfo(); return _pagingInfo; } set { _pagingInfo = value; } } }

  • Same source, multiple targets with different resources (Visual Studio .Net 2008)

    - by Mike Bell
    A set of software products differ only by their resource strings, binary resources, and by the strings / graphics / product keys used by their Visual Studio Setup projects. What is the best way to create, organize, and maintain them? i.e. All the products essentially consist of the same core functionality customized by graphics, strings, and other resource data to form each product. Imagine you are creating a set of products like "Excel for Bankers", Excel for Gardeners", "Excel for CEOs", etc. Each product has the the same functionality, but differs in name, graphics, help files, included templates etc. The environment in which these are being built is: vanilla Windows.Forms / Visual Studio 2008 / C# / .Net. The ideal solution would be easy to maintain. e.g. If I introduce a new string / new resource projects I haven't added the resource to should fail at compile time, not run time. (And subsequent localization of the products should also be feasible). Hopefully I've missed the blindingly-obvious and easy way of doing all this. What is it? ============ Clarification(s) ================ By "product" I mean the package of software that gets installed by the installer and sold to the end user. Currently I have one solution, consisting of multiple projects, (including a Setup project), which builds a set of assemblies and create a single installer. What I need to produce are multiple products/installers, all with similar functionality, which are built from the same set of assemblies but differ in the set of resources used by one of the assemblies. What's the best way of doing this? ------------ The 95% Solution ----------------- Based upon Daminen_the_unbeliever's answer, a resource file per configuration can be achieved as follows: Create a class library project ("Satellite"). Delete the default .cs file and add a folder ("Default") Create a resource file in the folder "MyResources" Properties - set CustomToolNamespace to something appropriate (e.g. "XXX") Make sure the access modifier for the resources is "Public". Add the resources. Edit the source code. Refer to the resources in your code as XXX.MyResources.ResourceName) Create Configurations for each product variant ("ConfigN") For each product variant, create a folder ("VariantN") Copy and Paste the MyResources file into each VariantN folder Unload the "Satellite" project, and edit the .csproj file For each "VariantN/MyResources" <Compile> or <EmbeddedResource> tag, add a Condition="'$(Configuration)' == 'ConfigN'" attribute. Save, Reload the .csproj, and you're done... This creates a per-configuration resource file, which can (presumably) be further localized. Compile error messages are produced for any configuration that where a a resource is missing. The resource files can be localized using the standard method (create a second resources file (MyResources.fr.resx) and edit .csproj as before). The reason this is a 95% solution is that resources used to initialize forms (e.g. Form Titles, button texts) can't be easily handled in the same manner - the easiest approach seems to be to overwrite these with values from the satellite assembly.

  • I never really understood: what is Application Binary Interface (ABI)?

    - by claws
    I never clearly understood what is an ABI. I'm sorry for such a lengthy question. I just want to clearly understand things. Please don't point me to wiki article, If could understand it, I wouldn't be here posting such a lengthy post. This is my mindset about different interfaces: TV remote is an interface between user and TV. It is an existing entity but useless (doesn't provide any functionality) by itself. All the functionality for each of those buttons on the remote is implemented in the Television set. Interface: It is a "existing entity" layer between the functionality and consumer of that functionality. An, interface by itself is doesn't do anything. It just invokes the functionality lying behind. Now depending on who the user is there are different type of interfaces. Command Line Interface(CLI) commands are the existing entities, consumer is the user and functionality lies behind. functionality: my software functionality which solves some purpose to which we are describing this interface. existing entities: commands consumer: user Graphical User Interface(GUI) window,buttons etc.. are the existing entities, again consumer is the user and functionality lies behind. functionality: my software functionality which solves some purpose to which we are describing this interface. existing entities: window,buttons etc.. consumer: user Application Programming Interface(API) functions or to be more correct, interfaces (in interfaced based programming) are the existing entities, consumer here is another program not a user. and again functionality lies behind this layer. functionality: my software functionality which solves some purpose to which we are describing this interface. existing entities: functions, Interfaces(array of functions). consumer: another program/application. Application Binary Interface (ABI) Here is my problem starts. functionality: ??? existing entities: ??? consumer: ??? I've wrote few softwares in different languages and provided different kind of interfaces (CLI, GUI, API) but I'm not sure, if I ever, provided any ABI. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Application_binary_interface says: ABIs cover details such as data type, size, and alignment; the calling convention, which controls how functions' arguments are passed and return values retrieved; the system call numbers and how an application should make system calls to the operating system; Other ABIs standardize details such as the C++ name mangling,[2] . exception propagation,[3] and calling convention between compilers on the same platform, but do not require cross-platform compatibility. Who needs these details? Please don't say, OS. I know assembly programming. I know how linking & loading works. I know what exactly happens inside. Where did C++ name mangling come in between? I thought we are talking at the binary level. Where did languages come in between? anyway, I've downloaded the [PDF] System V Application Binary Interface Edition 4.1 (1997-03-18) to see what exactly it contains. Well, most of it didn't make any sense. Why does it contain 2 chapters (4th & 5th) which describe the ELF file format.Infact, these are the only 2 significant chapters that specification. Rest of all the chapters "Processor Specific". Anyway, I thought that it is completely different topic. Please don't say that ELF file format specs are the ABI. It doesn't qualify to be Interface according to the definition. I know, since we are talking at such low level it must be very specific. But I'm not sure how is it "Instruction Set Architecture(ISA)" specific? Where can I find MS Window's ABI? So, these are the major queries that are bugging me.

  • Android MediaPlayer Won't Play Different Sounds

    - by cYn
    I'm making a simple app that plays a different sound according to its orientation. So if it's placed face down, a sound is played. If placed on its left side, a different sound is played. I'm having a hard time manipulating MediaPlayer correctly. My app runs fine. But it will only play one sound. For example. When I first boot up my app and place my device facing up, a sound will play. If I change its orientation, the sound will pause. But it will not start a different sound in a different orientation. BUT, if I place the device back facing up, it resumes the sound that it paused. I know I'm doing something wrong here, but I can't seem to figure it out the correct structure in using MediaPlayer and the program constantly calling it through onSensorChanged. public class MainActivity extends Activity implements SensorEventListener{ MediaPlayer mpAudioAttention; MediaPlayer mpAudioAssembly; MediaPlayer mpAudioRecall; MediaPlayer mpAudioRetreat; MediaPlayer mpAudioReveille; protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); sm = (SensorManager) getSystemService(SENSOR_SERVICE); setContentView(R.layout.main); mpAudioAttention = MediaPlayer.create(this, R.raw.attention); mpAudioAssembly = MediaPlayer.create(this, R.raw.assembly); mpAudioRecall = MediaPlayer.create(this, R.raw.recall); mpAudioRetreat = MediaPlayer.create(this, R.raw.retreat); mpAudioReveille = MediaPlayer.create(this, R.raw.reveille); } public void onSensorChanged(SensorEvent event) { synchronized (this) { Log.d(tag, "onSensorChanged: " + event + ", z: " + event.values[0] + ", x: " + event.values[1] + ", y: " + event.values[2]); zViewO.setText("Orientation Z: " + event.values[0]); xViewO.setText("Orientation X: " + event.values[1]); yViewO.setText("Orientation Y: " + event.values[2]); } //face down if (event.values[2] > -11 && event.values[2] < -9){ mpAudioRetreat.start(); } else mpAudioRetreat.pause(); //face up if (event.values[2] < 11 && event.values[2] > 9){ mpAudioReveille.start(); } else mpAudioReveille.pause(); //standing if (event.values[0] > -10 && event.values[0] < -8){ mpAudioAttention.start(); } else mpAudioAttention.pause(); //left sideways if (event.values[1] < 11 && event.values[1] > 9){ mpAudioAssembly.start(); } else mpAudioAssembly.pause(); //right sideways if (event.values[1] > -11 && event.values[1] < -9){ mpAudioRecall.start(); } else mpAudioRecall.pause(); }

  • How to model a relationship that NHibernate (or Hibernate) doesn’t easily support

    - by MylesRip
    I have a situation in which the ideal relationship, I believe, would involve Value Object Inheritance. This is unfortunately not supported in NHibernate so any solution I come up with will be less than perfect. Let’s say that: “Item” entities have a “Location” that can be in one of multiple different formats. These formats are completely different with no overlapping fields. We will deal with each Location in the format that is provided in the data with no attempt to convert from one format to another. Each Item has exactly one Location. “SpecialItem” is a subtype of Item, however, that is unique in that it has exactly two Locations. “Group” entities aggregate Items. “LocationGroup” is as subtype of Group. LocationGroup also has a single Location that can be in any of the formats as described above. Although I’m interested in Items by Group, I’m also interested in being able to find all items with the same Location, regardless of which group they are in. I apologize for the number of stipulations listed above, but I’m afraid that simplifying it any further wouldn’t really reflect the difficulties of the situation. Here is how the above could be diagrammed: Mapping Dilemma Diagram: (http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/592ad48b1a.jpg) (I tried placing the diagram inline, but Stack Overflow won't allow that until I have accumulated more points. I understand the reasoning behind it, but it is a bit inconvenient for now.) Hmmm... Apparently I can't have multiple links either. :-( Analyzing the above, I make the following observations: I treat Locations polymorphically, referring to the supertype rather than the subtype. Logically, Locations should be “Value Objects” rather than entities since it is meaningless to differentiate between two Location objects that have all the same values. Thus equality between Locations should be based on field comparisons, not identifiers. Also, value objects should be immutable and shared references should not be allowed. Using NHibernate (or Hibernate) one would typically map value objects using the “component” keyword which would cause the fields of the class to be mapped directly into the database table that represents the containing class. Put another way, there would not be a separate “Locations” table in the database (and Locations would therefore have no identifiers). NHibernate (or Hibernate) do not currently support inheritance for value objects. My choices as I see them are: Ignore the fact that Locations should be value objects and map them as entities. This would take care of the inheritance mapping issues since NHibernate supports entity inheritance. The downside is that I then have to deal with aliasing issues. (Meaning that if multiple objects share a reference to the same Location, then changing values for one object’s Location would cause the location to change for other objects that share the reference the same Location record.) I want to avoid this if possible. Another downside is that entities are typically compared by their IDs. This would mean that two Location objects would be considered not equal even if the values of all their fields are the same. This would be invalid and unacceptable from the business perspective. Flatten Locations into a single class so that there are no longer inheritance relationships for Locations. This would allow Locations to be treated as value objects which could easily be handled by using “component” mapping in NHibernate. The downside in this case would be that the domain model becomes weaker, more fragile and less maintainable. Do some “creative” mapping in the hbm files in order to force Location fields to be mapped into the containing entities’ tables without using the “component” keyword. This approach is described by Colin Jack here. My situation is more complicated than the one he describes due to the fact that SpecialItem has a second Location and the fact that a different entity, LocatedGroup, also has Locations. I could probably get it to work, but the mappings would be non-intuitive and therefore hard to understand and maintain by other developers in the future. Also, I suspect that these tricky mappings would likely not be possible using Fluent NHibernate so I would use the advantages of using that tool, at least in that situation. Surely others out there have run into similar situations. I’m hoping someone who has “been there, done that” can share some wisdom. :-) So here’s the question… Which approach should be preferred in this situation? Why?

  • Installing SharePoint 2010 and PowerPivot for SharePoint on Windows 7

    - by smisner
    Many people like me want (or need) to do their business intelligence development work on a laptop. As someone who frequently speaks at various events or teaches classes on all subjects related to the Microsoft business intelligence stack, I need a way to run multiple server products on my laptop with reasonable performance. Once upon a time, that requirement meant only that I had to load the current version of SQL Server and the client tools of choice. In today's post, I'll review my latest experience with trying to make the newly released Microsoft BI products work with a Windows 7 operating system.The entrance of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 into the BI stack complicated matters and I started using Virtual Server to establish a "suitable" environment. As part of the team that delivered a lot of education as part of the Yukon pre-launch activities (that would be SQL Server 2005 for the uninitiated), I was working with four - yes, four - virtual servers. That was a pretty brutal workload for a 2GB laptop, which worked if I was very, very careful. It could also be a finicky and unreliable configuration as I learned to my dismay at one TechEd session several years ago when I had to reboot a very carefully cached set of servers just minutes before my session started. Although it worked, it came back to life very, very slowly much to the displeasure of the audience. They couldn't possibly have been less pleased than me.At that moment, I resolved to get the beefiest environment I could afford and consolidate to a single virtual server. Enter the 4GB 64-bit laptop to preserve my sanity and my livelihood. Likewise, for SQL Server 2008, I managed to keep everything within a single virtual server and I could function reasonably well with this approach.Now we have SQL Server 2008 R2 plus Office SharePoint Server 2010. That means a 64-bit operating system. Period. That means no more Virtual Server. That means I must use Hyper-V or another alternative. I've heard alternatives exist, but my few dabbles in this area did not yield positive results. It might have been just me having issues rather than any failure of those technologies to adequately support the requirements.My first run at working with the new BI stack configuration was to set up a 64-bit 4GB laptop with a dual-boot to run Windows Server 2008 R2 with Hyper-V. However, I was generally not happy with running Windows Server 2008 R2 on my laptop. For one, I couldn't put it into sleep mode, which is helpful if I want to prepare for a presentation beforehand and then walk to the podium without the need to hold my laptop in its open state along the way (my strategy at the TechEd session long, long ago). Secondly, it was finicky with projectors. I had issues from time to time and while I always eventually got it to work, I didn't appreciate those nerve-wracking moments wondering whether this would be the time that it wouldn't work.Somewhere along the way, I learned that it was possible to load SharePoint 2010 in a Windows 7 which piqued my interest. I had just acquired a new laptop running Windows 7 64-bit, and thought surely running the BI stack natively on my laptop must be better than running Hyper-V. (I have not tried booting to Hyper-V VHD yet, but that's on my list of things to try so the jury of one is still out on this approach.) Recently, I had to build up a server with the RTM versions of SQL Server 2008 R2 and Sharepoint Server 2010 and decided to follow suit on my Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit laptop. The process is slightly different, but I'm happy to report that it IS possible, although I had some fits and starts along the way.DISCLAIMER: These products are NOT intended to be run in production mode on the Windows 7 operating system. The configuration described in this post is strictly for development or learning purposes and not supported by Microsoft. If you have trouble, you will NOT get help from them. I might be able to help, but I provide no guarantees of my ability or availablity to help. I won't provide the step-by-step instructions in this post as there are other resources that provide these details, but I will provide an overview of my approach, point you to the relevant resources, describe some of the problems I encountered, and explain how I addressed those problems to achieve my desired goal.Because my goal was not simply to set up SharePoint Server 2010 on my laptop, but specifically PowerPivot for SharePoint, I started out by referring to the installation instructions at the PowerPiovt-Info site, but mainly to confirm that I was performing steps in the proper sequence. I didn't perform the steps in Part 1 because those steps are applicable only to a server operating system which I am not running on my laptop. Then, the instructions in Part 2, won't work exactly as written for the same reason. Instead, I followed the instructions on MSDN, Setting Up the Development Environment for SharePoint 2010 on Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008. In general, I found the following differences in installation steps from the steps at PowerPivot-Info:You must copy the SharePoint installation media to the local drive so that you can edit the config.xml to allow installation on a Windows client.You also have to manually install the prerequisites. The instructions provides links to each item that you must manually install and provides a command-line instruction to execute which enables required Windows features.I will digress for a moment to save you some grief in the sequence of steps to perform. I discovered later that a missing step in the MSDN instructions is to install the November CTP Reporting Services add-in for SharePoint. When I went to test my SharePoint site (I believe I tested after I had a successful PowerPivot installation), I ran into the following error: Could not load file or assembly 'RSSharePointSoapProxy, Version=10.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. I was rather surprised that Reporting Services was required. Then I found an article by Alan le Marquand, Working Together: SQL Server 2008 R2 Reporting Services Integration in SharePoint 2010,that instructed readers to install the November add-in. My first reaction was, "Really?!?" But I confirmed it in another TechNet article on hardware and software requirements for SharePoint Server 2010. It doesn't refer explicitly to the November CTP but following the link took me there. (Interestingly, I retested today and there's no longer any reference to the November CTP. Here's the link to download the latest and greatest Reporting Services Add-in for SharePoint Technologies 2010.) You don't need to download the add-in anymore if you're doing a regular server-based installation of SharePoint because it installs as part of the prerequisites automatically.When it was time to start the installation of SharePoint, I deviated from the MSDN instructions and from the PowerPivot-Info instructions:On the Choose the installation you want page of the installation wizard, I chose Server Farm.On the Server Type page, I chose Complete.At the end of the installation, I did not run the configuration wizard.Returning to the PowerPivot-Info instructions, I tried to follow the instructions in Part 3 which describe installing SQL Server 2008 R2 with the PowerPivot option. These instructions tell you to choose the New Server option on the Setup Role page where you add PowerPivot for SharePoint. However, I ran into problems with this approach and got installation errors at the end.It wasn't until much later as I was investigating an error that I encountered Dave Wickert's post that installing PowerPivot for SharePoint on Windows 7 is unsupported. Uh oh. But he did want to hear about it if anyone succeeded, so I decided to take the plunge. Perseverance paid off, and I can happily inform Dave that it does work so far. I haven't tested absolutely everything with PowerPivot for SharePoint but have successfully deployed a workbook and viewed the PowerPivot Management Dashboard. I have not yet tested the data refresh feature, but I have installed. Continue reading to see how I accomplished my objective.I unintalled SQL Server 2008 R2 and started again. I had different problems which I don't recollect now. However, I uninstalled again and approached installation from a different angle and my next attempt succeeded. The downside of this approach is that you must do all of the things yourself that are done automatically when you install PowerPivot as a new server. Here are the steps that I followed:Install SQL Server 2008 R2 to get a database engine instance installed.Run the SharePoint configuration wizard to set up the SharePoint databases.In Central Administration, create a Web application using classic mode authentication as per a TechNet article on PowerPivot Authentication and Authorization.Then I followed the steps I found at How to: Install PowerPivot for SharePoint on an Existing SharePoint Server. Especially important to note - you must launch setup by using Run as administrator. I did not have to manually deploy the PowerPivot solution as the instructions specify, but it's good to know about this step because it tells you where to look in Central Administration to confirm a successful deployment.I did spot some incorrect steps in the instructions (at the time of this writing) in How To: Configure Stored Credentials for PowerPivot Data Refresh. Specifically, in the section entitled Step 1: Create a target application and set the credentials, both steps 10 and 12 are incorrect. They tell you to provide an actual Windows user name and password on the page where you are simply defining the prompts for your application in the Secure Store Service. To add the Windows user name and password that you want to associate with the application - after you have successfully created the target application - you select the target application and then click Set credentials in the ribbon.Lastly, I followed the instructions at How to: Install Office Data Connectivity Components on a PowerPivot server. However, I have yet to test this in my current environment.I did have several stops and starts throughout this process and edited those out to spare you from reading non-essential information. I believe the explanation I have provided here accurately reflect the steps I followed to produce a working configuration.
