• jQuery form zip code to state function

  I'm trying to convert a preexisting javascript function into a jQuery function. The function comes from http://javascript.internet.com/forms/zip-to-state.html and aims to convert a user-entered zip code into a state. I'm using jQuery 1.3.2, with all the necessary plugins, but I'm not very familiar with jQuery syntax and how to convert this from plain ol' Javascript syntax. The setState function takes two parameters, the zip code element and the state element, so I'm trying to do something like this: $('$zip_code').change( function () { setState($(this), $('#state')); }); Any thoughts on this syntax?   Hello, I have a dynamic chained select box that I am attempting to show the value of on a page load. In my chained select box, it will default to the first option within the select box on page load, could anyone provide assitance? I stumbled upon this thread, but I can't seem to translate what they are doing with that answer to my language of CF.   First time poster, long time lurker. I'm trying to learn some more advanced features of .js, and have two ojectives based on the pasted code below: I would like to add methods to a parent class in a specific way (by invoking prototype). I intend to update the declared key/value pairs each time I make an associated method call. execMTAction as seen in TheSuper will execute each function call, regardless. This is by design. Here is the code: function TheSuper(){ this.options = {componentType: "UITabBar", componentName: "Visual Browser", componentMethod: "select", componentValue: null}; execMTAction(this.options.componentType, this.options.componentName, this.options.componentMethod, this.options.componentValue); }; TheSuper.prototype.tapUITextView = function(val1, val2){ this.options = {componentType: "UITextView", componentName: val1, componentMethod: "entertext", componentValue: val2}; }; I would like to execute something like this (very simple): theSuper.executeMTAction(); theSuper.tapUITextView("a", "b"); Unfortunately I am unable to overwrite the "this.options" in the parent, and the .tapUITextView method throws an error saying it cannot find executeMTAction. All I want to do, like I said, is to update the parameters in the parent, then have executeMTAction run each time I make any method call. That's it. Any thoughts? I understand this is basic but I'm coming from a long-time procedural career and .js seems to have this weird confluence of oo/procedural that I'm having a bit of difficulty with. • Injection of banners in my webbrowsers possible malware

  Recently I have started to suspect that I have some kind of virus on my computer. There are 3 symptoms: Banners are being displayed on pages that doesn't use commercials, for instance when viewing screen-shots on Steam. It is only displayed after the rest of the page has been loaded and seems to be injected into it. The whole page is replaced with a commercial with the option to skip the commercial. The page is replaced with a search window claiming that the page could not be found. I have tried to scan my computer with Antivir and Adaware but only found a couple of tracking cookies. I have run HijackThis but since this isn't really my area I haven't been able to discern what shouldn't be there except the line about zonealarm since I have uninstalled it. Is there anyone out there who is able to see if there is anything suspicious in the log-file at the end or has suggestions regarding programs that might be better to find the virus than Antivir and Adaware? • Too many connections to 212.192.255.240

  Recently, my Internet slowed down drastically. I downloaded a tool to see the TCP/IP connections from my Vista computer. I found out that a lot TCP/IP connections are being connected to 212.192.255.240 through SVCHost. It seems that it is trying to connect to different ports. I think that my computer is being infected with some kind of malware etc. But I am not sure how to get rid of it. I did a little bit of research on this IP but found nothing. Any suggestions are highly appreciated. UPDATE: This is the HiJackThis log file and I can't find any thing weird. Also, the program is also trying to create connections to 91.205.127.63, which is also from Russia.   After upgrading to v50 firmware in my Nokia 5800 xpress music phone. I am not able to connect to ad-hoc wlan network in my laptop(Windows 7 OS). I have a dialup internet connection and created wireless ad-hoc network to access the internet in my phone. But I am getting "invalid server name" in the phone and my wireless network access type in Windows 7 shows "no internet access". I am able to connect to wlan infrastructure network using 5800 in my office. So my phone is working with wlan and I m able to access internet on it. BUT The problem is "dial up with ICS enabled" and "AD-HOC wlan network" in Windows 7. Can anyone give some solution on it. Or can you provide a guide/tutorial to connect 5800 with adhoc network and dialup internet in Windows 7. System: Windows 7 Dial up internet connection with ICS enabled.   Hey all, I'm having a problem with a server that keeps falling over. Looking through the Apache error logs it appears to come from a rogue PHP script. I'm trying to track this down using Apache's error_log and access_log but the server log format isn't giving me the detail I need. I suspect the log format isn't sufficient, but I've reviewed the Apache documentation and I've included the switches that I think I need to see. • Windows 7 Not Starting and System Repair Not Loading

  I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 running Windows 7 When turning on my PC I keep receiving a black screen with the option to use System Repair or Start Normally. Both options lead me to the System Repair background except no matter how long I wait the system restore options never show up. Choosing F8 and running all of the options including safe mode encounters the same result above. I tried to to use 2 system recovery disks 32x and 64x I downloaded and both lead to similiar results. When I choose System Repair running from the disk the System Repair Question asking to select a language pops ups but after this no matter how long I wait no other options appear. Next after restarting and selecting F8 (after hitting f12 and running from CD) I choose 'Run From Safe Mode with Command Prompt' I am able to run all of the options from System Restore with differing results: Startup Repair: Choosing this ends up in system repair indefinitely (left running 12 hrs) System Restore: Does Nothing. PC thinks for a second and then stops. When selecting ShutDown I see an error message stating there are no restore points. System Image Recovery: Service Cannot be started in Safe Mode Windows Memory Diagnostic: Runs test but then leads to system repair background which never loads system repair Command Prompt: chkdsk /r -Cannot Lock Current Drive...write protected. chkdsk /f -Cannot Lock Current Drive...write protected. bootcfg - Cannot open Boot.Ini file bootcfg - Ran all 3 (rebuildBcd, FixMbr and Fixboot) but PC still goes to System Repair background with no repair options popping up upon restart (without recovery CD). I'm on the verge of purchasing a boot utility disk for $50 unless there is anything else short of "take it to a computer shop" that somebody can suggest I try.

• HP Photosmart C4780 printer/scanner breaks netgear WNDR3700v3 router on connection

  A few months ago, we upgraded our Netgear router's firmware. Immediately, we started having trouble connecting to the internet. Each time this problem would happen, every device in the house would stop being able to make new connections to the internet. For example, you couldn't open new pages in the browser, but if Skype was running when the problem happened, you could keep talking to people. The only solution to this problem seemed to be resetting the router to factory defaults. Eventually, we solved this problem by just downgrading the router firmware. A while later, we got a new Netgear router. Almost right away, the new router started having exactly the same problems as the old one did on current firmware. The network connection would stay active and the computer would say it had an internet connection, but you couldn't do anything online except for using Skype. We eventually figured out that this happens every time our HP printer gets onto the network. Any time the printer gets onto the wireless network, the whole network stops connecting to the internet almost completely. The only thing that will fix it at that point is to reset the router to factory specs, and unplug the printer so it can't get back onto the network. The Netgear router has the latest version of the firmware, but the printer/scanner is very old. It looks to me like this problem is probably a result of a firmware conflict between the printer and the router, but I'm not sure how to fix that problem. Here's some additional information: Printer: HP Photosmart C4780 Router: WNDR3700v3 Router firmware: V1.0.0.22_1.0.17 (Stock, up to date firmware) Why would the printer getting on the network cause the router to not be able to access the internet correctly until it was reset? What can be done to allow the printer to be on the network without breaking the network for all other devices? Edit: One other thing that happens during this internet problem is that multiple computers in the house display an "IP conflict" message repeatedly, and extremely frequently (as often as every five to ten minutes, and every time a connection to the wireless is made).

• Is it possible to download extremely large files intelligently or in parts via SSH from Linux to Windows?

  I have a ~35 GB file on a remote Linux Ubuntu server. Locally, I am running Windows XP, so I am connecting to the remote Linux server using SSH (specifically, I am using a Windows program called SSH Secure Shell Client version 3.3.2). Although my broadband internet connection is quite good, my download of the large file often fails with a Connection Lost error message. I am not sure, but I think that it fails because perhaps my internet connection goes out for a second or two every several hours. Since the file is so large, downloading it may take 4.5 to 5 hours, and perhaps the internet connection goes out for a second or two during that long time. I think this because I have successfully downloaded files of this size using the same internet connection and the same SSH software on the same computer. In other words, sometimes I get lucky and the download finishes before the internet connection drops for a second. Is there any way that I can download the file in an intelligent way -- whereby the operating system or software "knows" where it left off and can resume from the last point if a break in the internet connection occurs? Perhaps it is possible to download the file in sections? Although I do not know if I can conveniently split my file into multiple files -- I think this would be very difficult, since the file is binary and is not human-readable. As it is now, if the entire ~35 GB file download doesn't finish before the break in the connection, then I have to start the download over and overwrite the ~5-20 GB chunk that was downloaded locally so far.   I have a linux (debian) router with two internet connections (A) and (B). (A) is preferred, (B) is fallback. I want to monitor the internet connection (and not only the availability of the gateways!) and change the default route appropriately. If (A) is not providing internet, switch to (B) If (A) is providing internet again, switch back to (A). Only problem I have is in case (2). My routing table points towards a working internet so I cannot easily detect whether internet is working over link (A) again. I am search for a ping or traceroute (or other diagnosis-tool) which can select the next-hop explicitly. ping -r looks promising, but can only ping a host on the lan. (It only has to write another destination address in the packet, damnit!) traceroute -g gateway looks even more promising and nearly does what I want - but sets source routing options which my next-hops deny. (Not within my administrative boundary...) I just want a $ping, that can: select a source interface (and address) select a next-hop on that interface ping any arbitrary ip address I could do evil trickery with policy-based routing but that would have production impact for all users. I would like to see a side-effect-free solution....

• Network problems that might be related to NAT

  Hello, I have an odd setup where there is a router(Router 2) routing between network network 1 and network 2. One router(Router 1) with nat for internet access that routes between internet and network 1. There are people in both of these networks. All the clients in network 1 can access the internet, the clients in network 2 can access the clients in network 1 and can also access the router 1. Router 1 can also access clients in network 2. However, the clients in network 2 cannot reach the internet. I cannot think about anything in the routing tables that would hinder this, since Router 1 can reach the clients in network 2 and vice versa. Can it be that nat starts the session between router 2 and the internet site/machine instead of the client and the internet machine? Does anyone have any ideas? I have very little control over router 2(its basicly an ISP vpn net service) but full access to router 1. Its an ubuntu 10.04 with iptables for nat/firewall setup.

The emails were checked using using smtpdiag ("a troubleshooting tool designed to work directly on a Windows server with IIS/SMTP service enabled or with Exchange Server installed") and the connection using port 25 is ok. The goal is to have a tooltip when the mouse is over the different options. Thanks in advance.

  I'ld like to configure my forms using config with an ini file. I need individualized error messages like the following one: suche.elements.methode.options.validators.strlen.options.messages.stringLengthTooLong = "Der Suchbegriff '%value%' ist zu lang!" This works well for strlen and regex, but how do I set it up for "required" elements? I tried stuff like suche.elements.methode.options.validators.notempty.options.messages.isEmpty = "Der Suchbegriff darf nicht leer sein!" but this throws exceptions.

  I am using simple modal dialog by Eric Martin. And have defined a function e.g function confirm(message, options) {.... } To customize all confirm dialogs. Its working nicely accross all the browsers.Except when I enable Selenium IDE ,my custom confirm dialog function fails to capture "options" parameters and firefox console echos like this: options is undefined callback=options.callback; Error When Selenium IDE is visible Normal Behaviour When Selenium IDE is closed Please help me sort out this issue so I should able to run selenium tests.

  I have a Facebook app I'm developing locally. I've configure everything correctly to SSL development with Thin. I know that using a shotgun.rb file, I can pass options to Thin to get it to start in SSL mode, but I'm not exact sure how to pass these options. I'm thinking something like: Thin:Server::options[:ssl] = true Thin:Server::options[:ssl_cert_path] = /path/to/cert/ Restarting thin constantly is getting old, so I'd really like to be able to use shotgun in development.

• Download file is blocked using WatiN even after modifying registry settings

  I'm doing an IE automation using WatiN. When a file to be downloaded is clicked, I get the following in the Internet Explorer Information bar: To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has blocked this site from downloading files to you computer. I added a registry key to, HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Domains\ then a REG_DWORD value named "http" with value==2 as given in http://stackoverflow.com/questions/972345/programmatically-add-trusted-sites-to-internet-explorer but still facing same issues. Can some1 advice on this....
