  • Windows 7 Pro sysprep not working

    Hello, I'm trying to sysprep a Windows 7 Professional machine, prior to grabbing an image for mass deployment on identical hardware, and am having a hard time getting sysprep to work (at all). I've created an XML answer file with WSIM, and have a basic setupcomplete.cmd file, but none of the configurations in the answer file seem to be applied. I've read technet articles and googled, and I still have no idea why this is happening.     When you try to install MOSS 2007 on Windows 2008 R2, if you are using an installation media that is older than SP2, you would get the following error, saying that “This program is blocked due to compatibility issues”    All is not lost though, all you need to do is to slip stream the SP2 updates to the MOSS 2007 Setup.   • TFS API Add Favorites programmatically

    01 – What are we trying to achieve? In this blog post I’ll be showing you how to add work item queries as favorites, it is also possible to use the same technique to add build definition as favorites. Once a shared query or build definition has been added as favorite it will show up on the team web access.  In this blog post I’ll be showing you a work around in the absence of a proper API how you can add queries to team favorites. 02 – Disclaimer There is no official API for adding favorites programmatically. In the work around below I am using the Identity service to store this data in a property bag which is used during display of favorites on the team web site. This uses an internal data structure that could change over time, there is no guarantee about the key names or content of the values. What is shown below is a workaround for a missing API. 03 – Concept There is no direct API support for favorites, but you could work around it using the identity service in TFS.  Favorites are stored in the property bag associated with the TeamFoundationIdentity (either the ‘team’ identity or the users identity depending on if these are ‘team’ or ‘my’ favorites).  The data is stored as json in the property bag of the identity, the key being prefixed by ‘Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Framework.Server.IdentityFavorites’.     I need to purchase a single license for Visual Studio Professional with MSDN. The MSDN buy site (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/bb841434.aspx) does not allow purchases from India. It directs Indians to purchase from resellers. I contacted Microsoft and they sent me a link to a list of resellers http://www.microsoft.com/india/originalsoftware/business/retailStore1.aspx Many of these resellers do not even have a website. Many of them do not exist at the addresses mentioned (they have moved). Microsoft support personnel also seem very cagey about releasing any information. They do not even read the mail. They simply resend their canned response with the same link. There are many resellers (not mentioned in the microsoft page) who are selling MSDN subscriptions. Are they legitimate?     Hi Everyone, I've a site deployed on a developed machine. The site was developed under WSS 3.0 which contains custom List, Features, Templates, Styles etc. What I've to do is to create a deployment package (setup) which I can give away to my client. I know about stsadm but I don't have the access of the production machine. Is there a way I can package all the dependencies in a single file (installation file) and run on the server which will include all the dependencies (including site content)? I've tried to experiment this with SharePoint Content Deployment Wizard. But, this software doesn't something I'm looking for which can create a simple deployment package (after that you don't need to do anything). I might not be correct but after two days of googling I think there is no such utility (freeware) that can create a simple package of a site and install on other farm without even need to configure anything before you run the installation package. You people might have an advise which can help me to look/think outside the box and get to the solution quickly instead adding more days working on the problem. Please, share only freewares.     When I set a program to open a specific file type by default, it works (like Word 2013 for PDFs). However, when I change the default back to reader, I lose Word as an option that I can pick in the open with sub-menu. How can I get it to stick? Update: It seems that there is something special about word. Adding Notepad++ as the default and then changing it back seems to keep notepad++ on the sub-menu. Word version is 2013

    How do I get Excel to partially auto-complete a word using another that already exist in the same worksheet? Let's say I have the word "Microsoft" in a cell and in the cell below I want to type the word "Microhard". When I start typing Microhard, the word Microsoft appears shaded in black. How can I select the "Micro" part alone from Microsoft and continue to fill out the rest with "hard" without it trying to fill out as Microsoft?

    As a Linux user, I am very used to jump from word to word in vim/nano using ALT+left or right. This doesn't seem to work properly using iTerm, I am using zsh, I tried adding; bindkey -e bindkey '^[[1;9C' forward-word bindkey '^[[1;9D' backward-word It does work, but inside zsh only, then I commented those lines and added in iTerm a keyboard shortcut; It does work, but only for the ALTleft How can I make it work for the right arrow too?

  • Wildcard mapping in IIS 7.0 not working

    I can't seem to get the ASP.NET engine to handle ALL wildcard mapping. When I try to make a request that is supposed to be handled by the asp.net engine, i get a 404 error from the StaticFile handler Here is the content of my web.config file.     I often write T-SQL loops that look like this While Exists (Select * From #MyTable) Begin Declare @ID int, @Word nvarchar(max) Select Top 1 @ID=ID, @Word=[Word] From #MyTable -- Do something -- Delete #MyTable Where ID=@ID End Works a treat but I noticed the new Delete Top function which would be useful when #MyTable is just a list of strings.   • What software do you use for letter templating and printing?

    In our LOB application there is a very important use case of printing letters, which are then printed and posted out from a mail house (thousands per day). The current situation is that the letter templates are created in Word 97 and fields are mail merged from values in database using a VB.Net application that basically uses word automation. But depending on Word 97 is not a good idea today. We only have a couple of PCs that have Word 97 installed as rest of the company has moved to Office 2007. What software or technology (compatible with .Net) is available today that best suits this scenario. Is it better to do the same thing but move to Word 2007 or PDF or something else. Price may not be a factor. The important thing is that the letter templates must be designed by business users and data to fill placeholders come from DB. A bonus would be to import the hundreds of existing Word 97 letter templates without rewriting them from scratch.

    i am using the following code to read the details from a network folder which is restricted for only one user shell("net use q: \\serveryname\foldername /user:admin pwrd", AppWinStyle.Hide, True, 10000) Process.Start(path) shell("net use q: /delete") when i run this to open any pdf or jpg or any other files except word/excel/powerpoint, everything is working fine. but the problem comes only when i access a word file. in the step one, i am giving permission to access the word file. in the step two, word file is open. in the third, i am deleting the q drive. the problem is the word file is still open. so i am getting a dos window, saying that "some connections of still connected or searching some folders, do you want to force disconnect" please help.... how to access a word file (editable files) providing user name and password from the code and at the same time he shoud not have access to any other folders directly.

  • Why will this code compile using ifort compiler and not when using gfortran compiler? Help!

    I'm rewriting some code to make a program compile with the gfortran compiler as opposed to ifort compiler I usually use. The code follows: _Subroutine SlideBits (WORD, BITS, ADDR) Implicit None Integer(4) WORD Integer(4) BITS Integer(4) ADDR Integer(4) ADDR1 ADDR1 = 32 - ADDR WORD = (WORD .And. (.Not.ISHFT(1,ADDR1))) .Or. ISHFT(BITS,ADDR1) End_ When I compile the above code using the gfortran compiler, I recieve this error: WORD = (WORD .And. (.Not.ISHFT(1,ADDR1))) .Or. ISHFT(BITS,ADDR1) Error: Operand of .NOT. operator at (1) is INTEGER(4) All three of the variables coming into the subroutine are integers. I've looked around a bit and the gfortran wiki states that the gfortran compiler should be able to handle logical statments being applied to integer values. Several other sites I've visited either quote from the gnu wiki or agree with it. This is the first time I've seen this error as the Intel Fortran compiler (ifort) I normally use compiles cleanly.
