• I just ordered 70/10 line, and need a new router I think?

  Before I had the 25/5 line and the n standard router did just fine. Now it doesn't do the job. Online speedtest reads at 82 so I have the line. But my laptop is getting less than 30 in my room. My laptop has the following WiFi card: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/wireless-products/centrino-advanced-n-6205.html What is this talk about 2,5 and 5ghz? Can my laptop be connected at once over both bandwidths? And that would let me use the full 70Mb over wifi? Hope it's ok to ask network questions here.

• smtp sasl authentication failure

  hello, I have configured and fixed almost all the problems with my postfix +courier + mysql setup for virtual mailboxes. I can now receive mail and send it from webmail (squirrel). BUT, what I can't do is authenticate from outside client. Since my isp blocks port 25 I setup postfix to work on 1025 for smtp and setup verbose loging. Here is the verbose log of a failed authentication process LOG Authentication for imap and pop3 seem to be working but this one is not. Here is the postconf -n output. Also through mysql I can verify that it is trying to validate through the system, running a query that returns the encrypted password stored in the database. I can't seem to find the error for this. thank you in advance

• How reduce size of PPT 2010 Notes Pages PDFs?

  I have a PPT presentation of about 400 slides that I periodically update and publish as PDF. The view I publish is the Notes Pages. This worked fine for several years, during which time I was using PPT 2002. I recently upgraded to PPT 2010, and now I find that the PDFs I create are about 25 times bigger than they used to be, and the text in the slides part of the Notes Pages is no longer selectable in Acrobat. According to Why does Powerpoint 2010 print notes pages to PDF as raster images? , the problem is that PPT 2010 is rendering the slides' content as images, which is not what earlier versions of PPT did. The solution offered in that discussion involves Office Automation and VBA, neither of which I know anything about, and it's not clear whether that approach solves the problem of the text in the slides not being selectable in the PDF. Isn't there a simple way to get PPT 2010 to print Notes Pages to PDF the way it did in PPT 2002?

• Aironet 1200's Auto-Channel Feature: When should it be used?

  In our building we have around 25 1200 series Aironets, with a bit of overlap in some areas. Up until this point, we have had them deployed in alternating 1/6/11 channels, but we are wondering if we would get better performance if we used the auto-channel select feature. In looking around, I have seen comments that this feature should not be used as the WAP does a channel scan only on the radio startup, but I have not found this in any Cisco docs. Anybody have anymore information, or real-world experience with this feature? Thanks! -Josh

  For each "agency" node I need to find the "stmt" elements that have the same key1, key2, key3 values and output just one "stmt" node with the "comm" and "prem" values summed together. For any "stmt" elements within that "agency" that don't match any other "stmt" elements based on key1, key2 and key3 I need to output them as is. So after transformation the first "agency" node would only have two "stmt" nodes (one summed) and the second "agency" node would be passed as is because the keys don't match. XSLT 1.0 or 2.0 solutions are ok...though my stylesheet is currently 1.0.   I am thinking of assembling this system: AMD CPU (A8-3870 APU which has Radeon HD 6550D inside: 400 stream processors:xxx GFLOPS) nearly 110$ AMD Graphics card: HD 7750 (512 stream processors:819 GFLOPS peak performance) nearly 170$ Appropriate ram (1600MHz bus) Mainboard What GFLOPS level can I reach as a stable mode with using OpenCL and similar programs? Can I use all 912 stream processors at the same time? I am not trying to do a VS question. I need to know what could be better for scientific computing (%75 of the time) and gaming (%25 of the time) because I have a low budget. With "scientific calculations" I mean fluid dynamics/solid state physics simulating; with games I mean those that need openCL and PhysX.

  There are so many choices that it's hard to know where to start. My requirements are these: Runs on Linux Most of the files will be between 5-9 MB in size. There will also be a significant number of small-ish jpgs (100px x 100px). All of the files need to be available over http. Redundancy -- ideally it would provide the space efficiency similar to RAID 5 of 75% (in RAID 5 this would be calculated thus: with 4 identical disks, 25% of the space is used for parity = 75% efficent) Must support several petabytes of data scalable runs on commodity hardware In addition, I look for these qualities, though they are not "requirements": Stable, mature file system Lots of momentum and support etc I would like some input as to which file system works best for the given requirements. Some people at my organization are leaning towards MogileFS, but I'm not convinced of the stability and momentum of that project. GlusterFS and Lustre, based on my limited research, appear to be better supported... Thoughts?

• Hybrid drive not booting faster than a normal HD

  I have used Windows 7 to create an image of my existing standard 160GB HD and copied this image back to a bigger 500GB Seagate hybrid drive. After copying the image to the hybrid I had to resize the partition, which was fine but after rebooting a few times to "teach" the hybrid, I have no increase in boot speed. It still takes 20-25 seconds to close down and then over a minute to start up. Is this something to do with the way the image lays itself on the drive indiscriminately? Do I need to load the OS on the drive from scratch to get the benefits? My PC with an i5 processor, is using AHCI mode.

  I am running windows and want to install the solaris but having hard time while using installer. I have 1 primary partition of 40GB and one extended partition. Extended partition have 4 logical drive. Solaris disk management window show only two partition one is of 40GB(Primary) and second is Extended partition. Can i convert a logical drive into primary partition( I have one free of 25 GB). • Why does WMI Provider Host ( WmiPrvSE.exe ) keep spiking my CPU ?

  I generally keep my laptop on 24x7, and at the end of the day it's really annoying to have my thighs burnt because over overheating. The overheating seems to be a result of WMI Provider Host ( WmiPrvSE.exe ) spiking the CPU utilization to 25% every few minutes. Any ideas why this is happening ? I have an HP Envy 14 (w/ the HP bundled crap) running on Windows 7 Home Premium. (Note: Based on @nhinkle's past observations, it seems that HP Wireless Manager might be the culprit, is there any way to confirm this ?)

I have added in main.cf the new fqdn in relay_domains relay_domains = $mydestination, example.com,example2.com, externe.example.com and in transport example.com smtp:[192.168.1.22] example2.com smtp:[192.168.1.22] external.example.com smtp:[192.168.1.22] Mails sent to users with example.com and example2.com domain are well delivered. My past experience with Symantec has been bad, but I've heard good things about this product. However, I've also read that it's kind of a nightmare to setup and administer, and may not be worth it for the size of our network.

  Hi, I've just installed a fresh copy of SQL 2008 Express. before I did anything I opened Management Studio and successfully connected using Window Authentication. However I tried to run the following on the command line "telnet localhost 1433" and got the error "Could not open connection to the host, on port 1433: Connect failed" I checked netstat and there is nothing listening on port 1433.   Hi! I'm running CentOS 5.4 and my / is full. I wanted to install gparted but in order to do that I must install Priorities and it's when I get an error saying / is full so I can't go forward.   I have a very large network trace file which contains both tcp and udp packets.I want to find out the flows in the trace file.For that I have a hash function which takes in source ip address,destination ip address,source port,destination port and protocol.In case of TCP I can understand that the flow means all the packets which have the same 5 parameters same.But what does it mean in case of UDP.how does the concept of flow apply in case of UDP.? I am a novice in packet processing.

• Access JBOSS Tomcat Web Application from Remote Computer

  Hi, I just deployed a web application on JBOSS 4.2. It can be accessed locally only (http://localhost:8080/myApp). I cant access it from remote computer by typing its domain: (www.hostname.com:8080/myApp). I added Port 8080 as Exception in Windows Firewall. Note that the host (www.hostname.com) is reachable from remote computers via IIS on port 80. Thanks, Rod
