• Why are only some of my attributes shown in the response xml of jaxws?

  I created a jaxws webservice, but it returns only some of the attributes of my objects in the response xml. • C#: how to check and display the content of a folder?

  I'm not sure whether this topics has been disscussed before or not, but I'm not sure the exact word to search for it. What method/class should I use? The program has 3 buttons: 1) for folder browsing, 2) scan for the selected folder content, and 3) open the file. When user browse the selected folder*(1), user click scan button to scan from the first file until the last available files and listed it text box(2)* and from that user can decide whether to open the files or not*(3)*. • Datagrid selects the wrong custom cell in my datagrid...

  Hi everybody, I am working on a problem since a week soon, but I still couldn't make it work as expected. I have a DataGrid which has HBox with a CheckBox an a Label as itemRenderer (see Code below). When I tap in to the Cell the standard itemEditor pops up and lets you enter the content of the label. Thats the standard behavior. I works fine except for 2 problems: If I enter to much text, the horizontal srollbar pops up, and the cell is filled with that scrollbar. As you see I tried to set the horizontalScrollPolicy to off, but that doesnt work at all... I tried to do that for all the different elements, but the failure is still existent. When I have filled more than one row, there is an other mistake happening. If I tap on a row, the datagrid selects the one below that row. That's only if one line is already selected. If I tap outside the datagrid and then, tap at any row the itemEditor of the right row will show up... • Creating own LiveWallpaperPreview?

  Hi, I would like to create my own LiveWallpaperPreview, i.e. to show the user a fullscreen preview of what the selected Live Wallpaper looks like (without the "Set Wallpaper" and "Settings" button that the built-in preview has). Rebuilding the LivePicker-Class from 2.1 (android.git.kernel.org) works fine, so I am able to select a wallpaper to be previewed, but the actual LiveWallpaperPreview-Class tries to import the following private Interfaces/Classes: import android.service.wallpaper.IWallpaperConnection; import android.service.wallpaper.IWallpaperService; import android.service.wallpaper.IWallpaperEngine; import android.service.wallpaper.WallpaperSettingsActivity; Is there any way to display a LiveWallpaper in my app without resorting to using the private APIs (which I obviously don't want to do)? • Is this a valid pattern for raising events in C#?

  Update: For the benefit of anyone reading this, since .NET 4, the lock is unnecessary due to changes in synchronization of auto-generated events, so I just use this now: public static void Raise<T>(this EventHandler<T> handler, object sender, T e) where T : EventArgs { if (handler != null) { handlerCopy(sender, e); } } And to raise it: SomeEvent.Raise(this, new FooEventArgs()); Having been reading one of Jon Skeet's articles on multithreading, I've tried to encapsulate the approach he advocates to raising an event in an extension method like so (with a similar generic version): public static void Raise(this EventHandler handler, object @lock, object sender, EventArgs e) { EventHandler handlerCopy; lock (@lock) { handlerCopy = handler; } if (handlerCopy != null) { handlerCopy(sender, e); } } This can then be called like so: protected virtual void OnSomeEvent(EventArgs e) { this.someEvent.Raise(this.eventLock, this, e); } Are there any problems with doing this? Also, I'm a little confused about the necessity of the lock in the first place. As I understand it, the delegate is copied in the example in the article to avoid the possibility of it changing (and becoming null) between the null check and the delegate call. However, I was under the impression that access/assignment of this kind is atomic, so why is the lock necessary? • Order of calls to set functions when invoking a flex component

  I have a component called a TableDataViewer that contains the following pieces of data and their associated set functions: [Bindable] private var _dataSetLoader:DataSetLoader; public function get dataSetLoader():DataSetLoader {return _dataSetLoader;} public function set dataSetLoader(dataSetLoader:DataSetLoader):void { trace("setting dSL"); _dataSetLoader = dataSetLoader; } [Bindable] private var _table:Table = null; public function set table(table:Table):void { trace("setting table"); _table = table; _dataSetLoader.load(_table.definition.id, "viewData", _table.definition.id); } This component is nested in another component as follows: <ve:TableDataViewer width="100%" height="100%" paddingTop="10" dataSetLoader="{_openTable.dataSetLoader}" table="{_openTable.table}"/> Looking at the trace in the logs, the call to set table is coming before the call to set dataSetLoader. Which is a real shame because set table() needs dataSetLoader to already be set in order to call its load() function. So my question is, is there a way to enforce an order on the calls to the set functions when declaring a component?

  Hi i have a inlogscreen (inlogdialog.xml), which includes 2 EditText (username, passwd) and i have a CheckBox (saveuser) with which the user can decide weather to save the username or not. • would a composite design pattern be useful for group membership?

  I'm trying to think about the best way to handle group memberships on a website. People sign up and select checkboxes in a list of interests. Every week we send out interest-themed emails to those members that indicated that interest. however i store the information in the database, while i am working with the lists and generating lists of email addresses or manipulating group memberships, the composite design pattern looked interesting. it would be easy to populate the group, then do some aggregating functions that say... generate the list of email addresses based on the interests. but i'm not sure i'm seeing any other advantages. i do need something scalable, and flexible. thoughts?

• What is the difference between a constructor and a procedure in Delphi records?

  Is there difference in behavior between a constructor call and a procedure call in Delphi records? I have a D2010 code sample I want to convert to D2009 (which I am using). The sample uses a parameterless constructor, which is not permitted in Delphi 2009. If I substitute a simple parameterless procedure call, is there any functional difference for records? I.E. TVector = record private FImpl: IVector; public constructor Create; // not allowed in D2009 end; becomes TVector = record private FImpl: IVector; public procedure Create; // so change to procedure end; As far as I can see this should work, but I may be missing something.

• For Loop help In a Hash Cracker Homework.

  On the homework I am working on we are making a hash cracker. I am implementing it so as to have my cracker. java call worker.java. Worker.java implements Runnable. Worker is to take the start and end of a list of char, the hash it is to crack, and the max length of the password that made the hash. I know I want to do a loop in run() BUT I cannot think of how I would do it so it would go to the given max pasword length. I have posted the code I have so far. Any directions or areas I should look into.... I thought there was a way to do this with a certain way to write the loop but I don't know or can't find the correct syntax. Oh.. also. However, the xDate attribute can only store dates, e.g. dd/MM/yyyy. How do I refactor the above to store a full date object using just one field, i.e. dd/MM/yyyy HH24:mm?

  I have been working as a software developer for many years now. It has been my experience that projects get more complex and unmaintainable as more developers get involved in the development of the product. It seems that software at a certain stage of development has the tendency to get "hackier" and "hackier" especially when none of the team members that defined the architecture work at the company any more. I find it frustrating that a developer who has to change something has a hard time getting the big picture of the architecture. Therefore, there is a tendency to fix problems or make changes in a way that works against the original architecture. The result is code that gets more and more complex and even harder to understand. Is there any helpful advice on how to keep source code really maintainable over the years?

• How can you become a real programming polyglot?

  I work as a Java programmer, but C and C++ were always my favourite languages during studies. Unfortunatelly I don't have an opportunity to work with them as often as I would like to. As a result I sometimes get realized that I don't remember something quite important (today example: inherited protected members cannot be accessed in derived class constructors). The other example could be Python and Haskell which I enjoy using but don't use everyday. I got an idea to write my own wiki with easy to forget things (e.g. bash tricks & tips) but I find no sense in writing there everything I can forget about coolest programming languages. I know that the best way would be having a side projects (I want to start working on some C/C++ open source project after graduation), but currently I have to write my graduation thesis and work so I merely don't have time to do this. How do you stay sharp in languages that you don't use everyday?

That means MemcacheService::getInstance() is totally equal new Memcached() which cannot be called singleton pattern at all. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Regards

  I am developing an iPhone application for jail broken phones and in this application I would like to fetch user's phone number. I have gone through the entire stackoverflow.com and found some relevant answers but all of them are obsolete and doesn't work with iOS 4.0 anymore. The most famous solution for this problem is NSString *num = [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] stringForKey:@"SBFormattedPhoneNumber"]; but as I mentioned this solution no more works with iOS 4.0 As my application is intended towards the jail broken phones and not intended the Apple app store so I am not worried about my app rejection, hence any private API will also work for me. Also please let me know if we can fetch IMSI number from SIM using any private APIs of iPhone

  Does the "magic" of the JVM hinder the influence a programmer has over micro-optimisations in Java? I recently read in C++ sometimes the ordering of the data members can provide optimizations (granted, in the microsecond environment) and I presumed a programmer's hands are tied when it comes to squeezing performance from Java? I appreciate a decent algorithm provides greater speed-gains, but once you have the correct algorithm is Java harder to tweak due to the JVM control? If not, could people give examples of what tricks you can use in Java (besides simple compiler flags).

• Easiest way to merge a changed list to the master list

  I have a two lists of class object : private List<IntVector> UserData = new List<IntVector>(); private List<IntVector> EditData = new List<IntVector>(); UserData is the Master List and EditData is another list which would be used to add, delete, or modify the list. One of the class memeber is CaseNo which would not change for an IntVector. I have made changes in the EditData and would like to merge the changes to the UserData. Any idea how to do it ?
