  Hi, Im having a problem connecting all of this. Im new to Ldap and after failing to install all of this on Ubuntu 10.04 Im trying to set it up on my local PC. I installed OpenLdap for windows http://www.userbooster.de/en/download/openldap-for-windows.aspx, Enabled the php5.3.1 extension for ldap (c:\xampp\php\ext\php_ldap.dll) in php.ini Copied the ssleay32.dll and libeay32.dll to Windows\System32 & Windows\System (Windows XP) Set the password generated by c:\Program Files\OpenLDAP\slappasswd.exe in c:\Program Files\OpenLDAP\slapd.conf (rootpw {SSHA}hash) run the c:\Program Files\OpenLDAP\slapd.exe Install phpldapadmin and call https:// 127.0.0.1 / phpldapadmin/ when I enter the credentials i get Invalid credentials (49) for user and in openldap.log i get could not stat config file "%SYSCONFDIR%\slapd.conf": No such file or directory (2) Can someone help.

• MyTop doesn't display executed queries

  Hi, I'm trying to use mytop for figuring out what queries are being executed and how long they take.   I have a log-file where at the end of a series of lines you can see if this block is relevant now I'm looking for a command like sed to delete de blocks ending with "Content-Length: 0" and beginning with the last "--" before this line. I tried sed -n "/--/,/Content-Length: 0/d" but this takes the first "--" and the first "Content-Length: 0" and deletes it. ex : line 1 "--" line 2 line 3 "Content-Length: 20" line 4 "--" line 5 line 6 "Content-Length: 0" i want to delete line 4,5 and 6 not line 1 to 6 hohw can i do this?

• How to PERMANENTLY disable touchpad tap-to-click on Dell Inspiron/Windows 7

  Hi all - my first time here, so I hope you can help. I've seen a lot of stuff on various forums (including here) about disabling the annoying "tap" function on a laptop touchpad. I learned the hard way not to de-install the driver (as the software suggests), since you then loose the Synaptic tab in the mouse control settings, and with it all means to modify the touchpad settings ... indicentally, if this happens to you, reboot in safe mode and do a restore, and the synaptic tab comes back. Not ideal, I know, but it works. Anyway, I have the most up-to-date drivers, and I can go to the Synaptics tab and can disable the tap-to-click function no problem. However, next time the machine is booted, tap-to-click is back on. It can alsways be disabled, but it's pain having to reset it every time the mchine is powered up. Is there a way to permanently disable it, once and for all? Thanks in advance, Graham

• IRC Server For 50 People?

  I've seen this question before and I am sure it will be fine but I want assurance before I do it. I am looking at running an IRC server with 128MB of ram and 500GB of BW. The server will usually handle at least 15 people throughout the whole day but there will be times where there can be at least 50 people in it maybe even more. I might also have a few extra channels on there so probably like at least 5 channels and the same people on the one channel will be in the other channels. Also I am trying to decide on the software to use. • freebsd does not recognise that php was installed via ports

  I have php 5.2.12 installed on FreeBSD 8.0-STABLE. It was installed from ports and I am trying to upgrade it to 5.3.2. However for some reason my system is not recognising that php was installed via ports. When I run "pkg_version" the list does not include php it does however include all the extensions that I have installed. I have even tried to do "make deinstall" on "/usr/ports/lang/php5" it told me that the port had been deinstalled but php still appears to be working correctly i.e "php -v" works any ideas on how this port has become de attached from the ports system? and how I can get the ports system to recognise that it installed php?

• Use Outlook 2007 to connect to mail using active sync protocol

  Has anyone tried connected outlook(I am running v2007 on Windows 7) to a mail service using the MS Exchange Active Sync protocol? I know it is intended for mobile devices, but to me it looks like it is becoming the latest 'de facto' mail protocol for email/calendar/contact sync'ing due to the iPhone's support for it. I just think it would be an elegant solution to get my lotus notes mail in outlook(my company uses lotus notes with traveler service installed that exposes mail over the active sync protocol so I can currently read my notes mail via iPhone). This solution would probably eliminate the need for all the hacks needed to connect outlook to 'X' mail (Gmail, notes, etc) So, maybe someone out there has tried this or knows how to do it before spend time on more researching this. • Natively boot Virtualbox Image

  I am faced with a Windows hardware/software problem left over from another person. It's on me to resolve. It's a mission critical setup. The situation is: I've got a physical server machine with: -Disk C:\ (one disk) containing a basic install of Windows Server 2008 R2, formerly Win Vista Pro, now gone. -Disk D:\ (software Raid) containing a VirtualBox disk image of a configured Windows Server 2008 R2 running SQL Server R2 among others. What shall I do now? Migrate all the stuff from the configured VM to the basic but natively installed C:\ Windows Server 2008 R2 (with the possibility of breaking stuff)? Or, Setting up the machine to "natively boot" the VM with the help of bcdedit.exe (something I've read about, what I've never done, what I don't know of if it works, if it hits performance, or if it is stable for production) For me, being old skool, I am in the process of de-virtualising everything (option 1). But I'd be happy if someone suggests I am ok to go down the "natively boot" route.

  I am trying to ssh with X11 forwarding into a host where I don't have a home directory. Because of that, xauth fails and X11 doesn't seem to work.   Hello, I have a strange cord that has a male 3.5mm headphone jack on one side, and some component video and audio ouputs on the other. When I plug the headphone side into my computer, and the other side into my TV, I get audio across the cable, but no video. How can I send some video over the headphone jack in OS X? I know you can, because this cable is actually for a Beyblade toy and it somehow transferred video over this cable. Thanks, Isaac I think I found some more information (from Wikipedia:) "A four conductor version (of a 3.5mm headphone jack) is becoming a de facto standard output connector for compact camcorders, providing stereo sound plus a video signal." So how can I do this on Mac?

• serving static assets via http is really slow compared to sshfs (apache2/nginx)

  After migrating to a new VPS I had some users complaining about slow loading images on their sites. After creating some test files with dd I realized that I can download all files via sshfs with full speed while downloads via web are painfully slow. The larger the file is and the longer the transfer takes, the slower the transfer speed gets. I thought I had some problems with Apache and just spend the whole evening with replacing Apache2 against nginx for static file serving - with no effect at all. No I/O wait states in top. Tons of RAM free, no high CPU utilization and hdparm shows a decent I/O performance at all times. I just have no idea anymore, what's happening on this server.   I've noticed that some Western Digital hard drives are now sporting 4K sectors, that is, the sectors are larger: 4096 bytes vs. the actual de facto standard of 512 bytes. So: What's the big deal with 4K sectors? Is it marketing hype, or a real advantage? Why should somebody building a new PC care, or not, about 4K sectors? Why is this transition taking place now? Having a cron task to pull the updates seems like an overkill is there anyway a gitolite post-commit script could execute a pull as the redmine user. My current update script looks like this: */15 * * * * redmine cd /home/redmine/repositories/support && git pull The post-commit script I guess should be similar, how can I give the gitolite user the privileges to execute the pull as the redmine user?   Since Microsoft announced the end of life for WHS, are there any alternatives? Specifically, I am interested in recovering from a catastrophic disk failure with WHS. For example, this is my ideal scenario when a desktop hard-drive fails (has a bad virus, etc): Install a disk of the same size or greater Boot the desktop with the Recovery Disc Point the recovery application at the WHS Pick the machine, the drive(s) and the date of the backup Have a couple beers Reboot to a working machine as if nothing happened. I would need to slap multiple disks in the machine without raid. It sounds like LVM will work here. It would be nice, but not required to have de-duplication of files when multiple machines are backed up. (Single Instance Storage)

Most things work fine out of the box, but the graphics cards are giving me trouble. When booting, I get the message "failed to get i915 symbols, graphics turbo disabled". Then the screen blanks out during the remaining boot period. I am able to get the display working by changing to one of the consoles, then closing and opening the laptop's lid. It seems that Ubuntu gets confused about which card to use. I've read here: http://www.andreas-demmer.de/en/2010/07/18/testbericht-linux-auf-dem-hp-envy-14 that I should be able to turn off one the cards by echoing keywords into /sys/kernel/debug/vgaswitcheroo/switch, but that path is not available on my system. The BIOS does not have any methods to switch of the ATI card. Help anyone? /Carsten

  I got a service coded in c# whoes deleted somes web site files hosted on iis, before an update. But sometime when i delete the files, they stay there. If I try to delete them manually, via explorer, the file are not deletable, because they are in state "Delete pending". • Decrypting Windows XP encrypted files from an old disk

  I had an old Windows XP machine with an encrypted directory. When moving to a new Win7 machine I connected the old disk as a slave in the new machine, and hence cannot access the encrypted files. Chances don't seem good as documentation warns you: "Do not Delete or Rename a User's account from which will want to Recover the Encrypted Files. You will not be able to de-crypt the files using the steps outlined above." On the other hand, I have full access to the machine, so maybe there's a utility which can extract the keys and use the to decrypt the files... BTW, I didn't have a password in the old machine, if it's relevant. Ideas, anyone? Thanks!

  I'm running Windows 7, 64-Bit on a Core-i5 HP Notebook. For approximately the last 3 months, I've had major problems with Adobe Flash. Flash has been uninstalled and installed again multiple times. No changes. Here is what happens in different browsers: (All browsers are in the latest version as of this post) Firefox: Doesn't work at all. This bothers me most, since FF is my favorite browser; I'm using a lot of Plugins. Have tried to de-activate all Plugins, but no change. IE and Chrome: Works, but most pages with Flash are stuck during page load for ~30 seconds. After that, everything is fine. Opera: No problems, everything working as it should. Strange, eh? Any help is highly appreciated!
