• Base 36 to Base 10 conversion using SQL only.

  A situation has arisen where I need to perform a base 36 to base 10 conversion, in the context of a SQL statement. There doesn't appear to be anything built into Oracle 9, or Oracle 10 to address this sort of thing. My Google-Fu, and AskTom suggest creating a pl/sql function to deal with the task. That is not an option for me at this point. I am looking for suggestions on an approach to take that might help me solve this issue. To put this into a visual form... • Linq To Sql and identity_insert

  I am trying to do record inserts on a table where the primary key is an Identity field. I have tried calling mycontext.ExecuteCommand("SET identity_insert myTable ON") but this doesn't do any good. I get an error saying that identity_insert is off when I submit changes. How can I turn it ON from the c# code before I submit changes? EDIT I have read that this is because ExecuteCommand's code gets executed in a different session. EDIT 2 Is there any way I can execute some DDL to remove the Identity Specification from my C# code, do the inserts, and then turn Identity Specification back on?

• RDLC: How to print multiple tables in one report

  I'm generating the RDLC XML schema and showing the report in the ReportViewer control. No problems there. Now, I want a report with 2 tables, with 2 differents dataset. Something like this gets generated: <Body> <ReportItems> <Table Name="Table1"> .... </Table> <Table Name="Table2"> .... </Table> </ReportItems> </Body> But, when printed, both tables start from the top, printing one table over the other (not nice) Is there a way to tell that Table2 should start after Table1? Update: I've tried with List with a fake DataSource, but it does not work.

• Differences between Django ugettext and ugettext_lazy

  I keep rereading the Django's internationalization documentation and still don't understand when and why should I use django.translation.ugettext_lazy as opposed to django.translation.ugettext? I understand that using ugettext_lazy means that I will deffer from translating the string until the very end. Is it because Django parses the Accept-Language request header or the request.URL for the language code very late during the execution, which would mean that I may not be targeting the user's preferred language code if I was using ugettext? Would that ultimately mean that I should only use ugettext if I want to enforce that the message gets explicitly translated to the language specified in settings.LANGUAGE_CODE, or the currently active language as per django.translation.get_language()?

  Hi All, We recently upgraded from 2005 to VS 2008 (Windows XP). We use SlimDx in one of our projects. All was working ok after the upgrade, except my "Recover" function, which gets called on devicelost/device reset which crashes with D3DERR_INVALIDCALL: Invalid call (-2005530516) I use Ctrl-Alt-Del and then "Escape" to simulate device lost. void Recover() { try { if (res.Code == D3DERR_DEVICENOTRESET) { res = m_device.Reset(m_presentParams); //Crashes on this. if (res.IsSuccess) { m_deviceLost = false; } } } catch(Exception e) {} } Is this something to do with VS2008, as it used to work nicely with 2005 Thanks for your help.

• Nullable One To One Relationships with Integer Keys in LINQ-to-SQL

  I have two objects (Foo and Bar) that have a one-to-zero-or-one relationship between them. So, Foo has a nullable foreign key reference to Bar.ID and a (nullbusted) unique index to enforce the "1" side. Bar.ID is an int, and so Foo.BarID is a nullable int. The problem occurs in the LINQ-to-SQL DBML mapping of .NET types to SQL datatypes. Since int is not a nullable type in .NET, it gets wrapped in a Nullable<int>. However, this is not the same type as int, and so Visual Studio gives me this error message when I try to create the OneToOne Association between them: Cannot create an association "Bar_Foo". Properties do not have matching types: "ID", "BarID". Is there a way around this?

But problem is , when the DropDownlist gets load with data, it lost the current value of the 'Domain'. i.e If I want to edit 4th Row, its domain which is currently set to 'Computers' is getting changed to 'MBA' which is ofcourse the first element return by the DataSource. I want to display the current value ('computers') as the selected value in DropDownList. But I am unable to get the value of Domain, which is being edited.

  For my iPhone app, I'm consuming a RESTful service and getting JSON. I've found libraries to deserialize this into an NSDictionary. However, I'm wondering if there are any libraries to deserialize the JSON/NSDictionary/Property List into my object (an arbitrary one on my side). The java equivalent would be the object-relational mappers although the sort of object mapping I'm looking for is relatively straightforward (simple data types, no complex relationships, etc.). I noticed that Objective-C does have introspection so it seems theoretically possible but I haven't found a library to do it. Or is there a simple way to load an object from an NSDictionary/Property List object that doesn't require modification every time the object changes? For example: { "id" : "user1", "name" : "mister foobar" "age" : 20 } gets loaded into object @interface User : NSObject { NSString *id; NSString *name; int *age; }

  Hi I am using the tablesorter plugin: http://tablesorter.com/docs/ with jquery 1.4.2 Now my problem is this. The user can dynamically add rows to the table. But this seems to mess up the paging. Like first it gets added to the first "page" of rows but if you would go to the second page and you go back to the first page. You newly record is gone. I don't know where it goes but it is just gone. I tried to do this $('#pagerid').unbind('click'); $('#tbl tbody ').append(response.HtmlRow); $('#tbl').trigger('update'); So I tried to unbind the pager click method and do a trigger update but that does not seem to work.   I am designing a python web app, where people can have an email sent to them on a particular day. So a user puts in his emai and date in a form and it gets stored in my database. My script would then search through the database looking for all records of todays date, retrive the email, sends them out and deletes the entry from the table. Is it possible to have a setup, where the script starts up automatically at a give time, say 1 pm everyday, sends out the email and then quits? • Serving static content from cookie less domain and mod_deflate

One domain with my main website and the other with js/css/etc.. files, static content. mod_deflate is enabled for both domains, but when i run ySlow in FireFox it says none of my static content is compressed. When i bring back the js or css file to my normal domain it gets compressed right. Only when its served from the other domain is it not compressed. Do i have to do some more configuration for this to work?   Hello, I am developing a Silverlight client using the provided navigation template for an imageboard I developed. I have a "search" tab which lists all searches for tags which were executed. I also have a show post tab which shows (also in tab-form) posts, opened from the search tab. When I open a post from the search page, it instanciates a new control (of type UserControl) and inserts this into the ShowPost page's tabcontrol. When I switch (or get switched) to the Show Post view the layout is all messed up. The UserControl inside the tab does not stretch in the tab. When I switch tabs back and forth this is strangely fixed. The reason seems to be that the user control gets created there but has no layout to "fit to" until said layout is opened, which is too late then. We hook into the window.onbeforeunload event to check if they have unsaved data and if so present them with a message "Are you sure you want to navigate away...you have unsaved data...". All this is good. But AJAX calls also trigger window.onbeforeunload and so if the grid has unsaved data and we make an AJAX call (such as to delete a row in another grid) the user gets the "Are you sure you want to navigate away...you have unsaved data..." message which is not good. Is it possible to suppress the onbeforeunload event for AJAX calls? Or is it possible to detect that a call is an AJAX call? Otherwise we'll have to get hacking! Thanks

  Hi All, I've got a panel displaying a JTextPane backed by a StyledDocument. When I print a string of text in, say Arial 16, the text it prints is of a different size than the Arial 16 Word prints. Is there some sort of flaw in the translation of Swing fonts to Windows system fonts or something of the sort that makes it difficult (or impossible) to print accurately? I can achieve an approximation by scaling down the size of my font before printing, but this never quite gets me the results I would like, as it's not possible in all cases to reproduce things like equivalent numbers of words on a line, etc. Has anybody run into this before?

  Hi, I am trying to install Eclipse Galileo on my MacBook running OS X v10.6 (Snow Leopard) and set it up with ADT plugin. I downloaded 64-bit cocoa version of "Eclipse Galileo for JEE developers" and ADT v0.9.6 from the respective offical sites. When I try to add this new plugin-archive in Eclipse, I get the following error: Cannot complete the install because one or more required items could not be found ....missing requirement: ADT requires 'org.eclipse.wst.sse.core 0.0.0' but it could not be found. AFAIK, one gets this error when a required Eclipse-plugin is missing. I checked the official site and saw that wst-plugin is actually bundled with "Eclipse for J2EE developers" download package. Not sure what I am missing here. Please help. Thanks!

Though the copy is pointing to the same address, the method receiving the argument cannot change original. • Device Driver IRQL and Thread/Context Switches

  Hi, I'm new to Windows device driver programming. I know that certain operations can only be performed at IRQL PASSIVE_LEVEL. For example, Microsoft have this sample code of how to write to a file from a kernel driver: if (KeGetCurrentIrql() != PASSIVE_LEVEL) return STATUS_INVALID_DEVICE_STATE; Status = ZwCreateFile(...); My question is this: What is preventing the IRQL from being raised after the KeGetCurrentIrql() check above? Say a context or thread swithch occurs, couldn't the IRQL suddenly be DISPATCH_LEVEL when it gets back to my driver which would then result in a system crash? If this is NOT possible then why not just check the IRQL in the DriverEntry function and be done with it once for all?

• MKMapView - viewForAnnotation not called while loading more results

  I have a search enabled map view. When user hits search, my custom annotations are added to the map view. The search returns 20 results with a 'load more' link. When I hit load more, more annotations should be added to map view. The problem is - annotations gets added to the map view but is not displayed on the map. If I zoom in or zoom out to change the map region, the pins are shown. I find that viewForAnnotations: is not getting called when i hit 'load more'. I am not sure how to trigger this. any one?

  Iam using the radgrid, in my web application. Iwant to avoid the refetch of records when paging button is clicked on the radgrid. I have a method SetTodaysAlerts which gets near about 100 records and binds to my radgrid. The page size of the radgrid is 10, hence First, Next, Previous and Last buttons are available. When I click the next button how can I avoid the re fetching of the records again. FYI: Iam using the radgrid_NeedDataSource event which does the datafetch again when any navigatin button is clicked on the radgrid.

• How does one check if a table exists in an Android SQLite database?

  I have an android app that needs to check if there's already a record in the database, and if not, process some things and eventually insert it, and simply read the data from the database if the data does exist. I'm using a subclass of SQLiteOpenHelper to create and get a rewritable instance of SQLiteDatabase, which I thought automatically took care of creating the table if it didn't already exist (since the code to do that is in the onCreate(...) method). However, when the table does NOT yet exist, and the first method ran upon the SQLiteDatabase object I have is a call to query(...), my logcat shows an error of "I/Database(26434): sqlite returned: error code = 1, msg = no such table: appdata", and sure enough, the appdata table isn't being created. Any ideas on why? I'm looking for either a method to test if the table exists (because if it doesn't, the data's certainly not in it, and I don't need to read it until I write to it, which seems to create the table properly), or a way to make sure that it gets created, and is just empty, in time for that first call to query(...)
