• javax.sql.DataSource.getConnection() locks system

  I'm using the Apache Commons DBCP library for connection pooling in a desktop application. I've done this before and never had a problem but the latest application has started sometimes locking up on the call to getConnection() on my DataSource. The application just hangs after that call. I'm closing up my resources when I'm done with them. Is there any known reason why this might happen? I'm not even sure where to being troubleshooting this now that I've got it narrowed down to this method. It doesn't always hang - sometimes it happens fairly quickly, sometimes it takes a long time. Sometimes it doesn't happen at all, although lately I can get it to happen within a few minutes.

• How can I make PHP display the error instead of giving me 500 Internal Server Error

  This has never happened before. Usually it displays the error, but now it just gives me a 500 internal server error. Of course before, when it displayed the error, it was different servers. Now I'm on a new server (I have full root, so if I need to configure it somewhere in the php.ini, I can.) Or perhaps its something with Apache? I've been putting up with it by just transferring the file to my other server and running it there to find the error, but that's become too tedious. Is there a way to fix this?

• How do I set up mod rewrite to do this?

  Hi guys heres the scene - I'm building a web application which basically creates accounts for all users. Currently its setup like this the file structure: root/index.php root/someotherfile.php root/images/image-sub-folder/image.jpg root/js/somejs.js When users create an account they choose a fixed group name and then users can join that group. Initially I thought of having an extra textbox in the login screen to enter the group the user belongs to login to. BUt I would like instead to have something like virtual folders in this case: root/group-name/index.php I heard it can be done with apache mod rewrite but I'm not sure how to do this - any help here? Basically instead of having something like &group-name=yourGroupName appended to every page I would just like something of the nature above.

  Hello, I have a application server for network operations written with JAVA based on Apache Mina. Recently I encounter a strange behavior in my log files. I noticed that the log file is full of @^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^.... characters. I mean those unexpected characters are vast amount of as such the log file gets hundreds of GB in a couple of hours! I have no clue about this problem and it is almost impossible to google it. What could be the reason? Are those set of characters any familiar to anybody? • CodeIgniter Project Giving 303/Compression Error

  Trying to setup a CodeIgniter based project for local development (LAMP stack), and once all the config file were updated (meaning I successfully had meaningful bootstrap errors for CodeIgniter), I get this error in my browsers: Chrome Error 330 (net::ERR_CONTENT_DECODING_FAILED): Unknown error. Firefox Content Encoding Error: The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because it uses an invalid or unsupported form of compression. Just using wget to fetch the file works fine, no errors and I get the content I'm expecting. Not sure if this is something with CI and the Server, or just something weird with the project. Has anyone seen this before?

I noticed that the httpservice requests that runs from the creationComplete event of the application does not always get data from the server. but HTTPservice requests called from user actions always work.   Hello, I have an ip like username.dyndns.org, this is the external IP of my router. On my lan, I have several machine (m1, m2, ...) , each running a dedicated web server. Is it possible to reach each machine from the outside with something like: http://m1.username.dyndns.org http://m2.username.dyndns.org ? Do you know what needs to be configured in my router for NAT ? • Can't get Xdebug to work on Windows 7

  I installed the latest XAMPP package which includes PHP 5.3.0. I am trying to enable Xdebug, but it just won't work. Here's what I changed in the php.ini shipped with XAMPP: ; uncommented zend_extension = "X:\xampp\php\ext\php_xdebug.dll" ; added the following lines: xdebug.remote_enable=true xdebug.remote_host=localhost xdebug.remote_port=9000 xdebug.remote_handler=dbgp Apache starts fine, but when I open http://localhost/ in my browser, I get the following error If I click the Close the program button, the error message will reappear in a second as if it was in an infinite loop. • PHP script to replace cgi script

  Hey, I have a CGI script that uses an old database driver that is no longer supported. Instead of struggling with this old cgi script, I thought it would be easier to rewrite it in php. It works now as a php script, but I need it to be served from the same web address. When a user accesses http://somesite.com/myscript.cgi, I want it to run the php script. I tried just renaming the php script with .cgi, but that didn't work. This is on an Apache server hosted by Dreamhost. Any advice? Bridger Maxwell

  I'm running OSX (10.6) with Apache with .htaccess enabled. In the htaccess file I have the code: Options +FollowSymlinks RewriteEngine on RewriteRule ^page/([A-Z0-9._%+-]+) index.php?page=$1 [NC] This runs perfectly on my external server and redirects nicely to index.php?page=whatever However when testing locally from localhost/~james/In%20Progress/Vila%20Maninga/page/whatever I get redirected to localhost/~james/Users/James/Sites/In%20Progress/Vila%20Maninga/index.php?page=whatever. For some reason 'Users/James/Sites/' is being added. Does anyone why this is happening and how to prevent it? Many thanks, James

  I want MSDeploy to skip specific folders and file types within other folders when using sync. Currently I'm using CCNet to call MSDeploy with the sync verb to take websites from a build to a staging server. Because there are files on the destination that are created by the application / user uploaded files etc, I need to exclude specific folders from being deleted on the destination. Also there are manifest files created by the site that need to remain on the destination. • XAMPP is caching .html files running as PHP

  I have XAMPP (latest version) installed on my Mac OS 10.6.3 I've added the following to .htaccess because I want .html to be interpreted as PHP. AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .html The problem is that the default XAMPP config seems to be caching .html files as static... so even though the PHP statements inside are being called (for example, 'echo time()' in index.html displays the dynamic output)... the actual file is being cached. When I make changes to a .html file, I've having to restart Apache for it to load the newest changes. Looking at httpd.conf, it looks like it's loading the following cache mods.. LoadModule file_cache_module modules/mod_file_cache.so LoadModule cache_module modules/mod_cache.so LoadModule disk_cache_module modules/mod_disk_cache.so LoadModule mem_cache_module modules/mod_mem_cache.so Any idea how to implement a system whereby it checks the timestamp of the file, before loading it from cache?   In my app users can upload files for other users. To make the uploaded files accesible only for the addresse I need some kind of static files authentication system. My idea, is to create the apache hosted directory for each user and to limit access to this derectory using .htaccess. This means that each time new django user is created, I need to create a directory and the appropriate .htaccess file in it. I know I should do it using post_save signals on User model but I don't know how to create the .htaccess in the user's directory from python level. Can you help me with that? Or perhaps you have better solution to my problem?

• DirectoryIndex not working because of mod_rewrite?

  Requests to www.domainname.com and domainname.com should display index.html, not index.php as it does now. • resolving localhost in php so can be views outside VM

  I'm running Windows 7. Within, I'm running Virtualbox and Ubuntu. Within Ubuntu, I'm running Apache and using PHP codeigniter. To reference our CSS and JS files, we use this syntax: <?php echo site_url('css/styles.css'); ?> When viewing the site locally (within Ubuntu VM) that resolves to: http://localhost/styles.css So works fine. The catch is when I access that site from within Windows 7 (for IE testing). To access the site in Windows 7, I refer to the IP address of the VM: http://xx.x.x.x/ That loads the site but, alas, all the site_url variables are still being rewritten as 'localhost'. Said files obviously don't exist on the localhost of my windows 7. Is there a way around this short of just hard-coding relative links in my PHP file?

• HTTP Content-type header for cached files

  Hello, Using Apache with mod_rewrite, when I load a .css or .js file and view the HTTP headers, the Content-type is only set correctly the first time I load it - subsequent refreshes are missing Content-type altogether and it's creating some problems for me. I can get around this by appending a random query string value to the end of each filename, eg. http://www.site.com/script.js?12345 However, I don't want to have to do that, since caching is good and all I want is for the Content-type to be present. I've tried using a RewriteRule to force the type but still didn't solve the problem. Any ideas? Thanks, Brian

• Facebook links to my site resolve as 403 forbidden

  Hi I'm experiencing a super weird problem. Whenever I post links to my website on Facebook, they come up as Forbidden. The site itself works great and I have no seen this when linking on other sites. Could this be a server misconfiguration?
