    After uninstalling Dell's wireless utility I get a new hardware found dialog that can not find any driver for my wifi card on it's own. I'm running Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3, and I would like to use the default wifi handler since dell's utility does not work with my company's wireless switch.   • Networking Mac and PC - Firewall Issue?

    Here's the scenario: Work network - I have a Mac and a PC - OS X is Snow Leopard - Windows 7 I am trying to connect to the PC from the Mac. IT ONLY works if I turn off the firewall in Windows. I tried to trace the port and connection it was using, it appears to be on port 445 via TCP. I really prefer not to leave this open, or is it OK? How can I only allow this connection while still leaving the firewall on?

    I have a Toshiba laptop with wi-fi connected internet. Now I wanna connect my phone to my laptop and use its Internet connection ( I can't buy new wi-fi or 3g supported mobile phone ). I have no problem connecting k610 to my laptop, and even shared my GPRS internet connection with my PC. but can't do contrary. How can I connect my k610 mobile (which not support wi-fi connections) to Internet via my Toshiba laptop ( with bluetooth ) ? P.S: My PC OS is Ubuntu Linux 9.10

  • How to make Horde connect to mysql with UTF-8 character set?

    How to tell horde 3.3.11 to use UTF-8 for it's mysql connection? The $conf['sql']['charset'] only tells horde what is expected from the database. Horde uses MDB2 to connect to mysql. Is there way to force MDB2 or mysql character_set_client from php.ini? So far I found two workarounds: Force mysql to ignore character set requested by client [mysqld] skip-character-set-client-handshake=1 default-character-set=utf8 Force mysql to run SET NAMES utf8 on every connection [mysqld] init-connect='SET NAMES utf8' Both have drawbacks on multi user mysql server. The first disables converting character sets alltogether and the second one forces every connection to produce UTF-8. [EDIT] Found the problem. The 'charset' parameter was unset the last minute before sending to SQL backend. This is probably due to mysql not being able to digest utf-8 but utf8. Mysql specific mapping is required to make it work. I just worked around it by translating utf-8 - utf8. If I'm idle for a few minutes, it locks me out (killing file transfers, which is a problem), and a few minutes after that, it severs my connection. Where can I find the settings that govern these things to stop that from happening? I want it to let me stay connected, regardless if I'm idle.

    i tried executing the mail() and got the following error "Warning: mail() [function.mail]: Failed to connect to mailserver at "localhost" port 25, verify your "SMTP" and "smtp_port" setting in php.ini or use ini_set() " but SMTP and smtp_port are both set in php.ini more ever other codes are working fine with localhost. disabled or/and added exception to firewell no result.... tried telnet localhost 25 error:could not connect to localhost port 25:connection failed.....     When we installed TFS 2010, we made some poor decisions in naming our databases. I have figured out how to rename everything except for the Tfs_xxxConfiguration database. How can I get this renamed? I can only find a read-only display of the connection string to it - cannot find where to alter that connection string either directly or indirectly. I'd really prefer to not have to rebuild it from scratch... again... Thanks!

    Hello, Using Apache with mod_rewrite, when I load a .css or .js file and view the HTTP headers, the Content-type is only set correctly the first time I load it - subsequent refreshes are missing Content-type altogether and it's creating some problems for me. Specifically, gzip is not compressing these files. I can get around this by appending a random query string value to the end of each filename, eg. http://www.site.com/script.js?12345 However, I don't want to have to do that, since caching is good and all I want is for the Content-type to be present. I've tried using a RewriteRule to force the type but still didn't solve the problem. Any ideas?     I have two servers: one CentOS 5.8 & one Solaris 10. Both are joined to my workplace AD domain via PBIS-Open. A user will log into the linux server & run an application which issues commands over RSH to the solaris server. Some commands are also run on the linux server, so both are needed. Due to the application these servers are being used for (proprietary GE software), the software on the linux server needs to be able to issue rsh commands to the solaris server on behalf of the user (the user just runs a script & the rest is automatic). However, rsh is not working for the domain users. It does work for a local user, so I believe I have the necessary trust settings between the two servers correct. However, I can rlogin as a domain user from the linux server to the solaris server. SSH works too (how I wish I could use it). I dont get a connection error saying that the servername is wrong, but get "offline" after it "test connection" I have: - Setup firewalls rules to allow Remote and file share on Domain and private network - Installed WWF 2.0 on both servers - Account that im using is a domain account that is Administrator on both machines. www01 is the same server as the controller below, but same results if i try www02 as primary.     The question says it all. All i want is that my W-Lan connection should be disabled whenever a wired connection is available. What would be the easiest way to do that in Ubuntu/Gnome? In all guides (for instance some about guessnet) i found i had to configure my whole network configuration (WPA keys, DHCP, ...), but i find that a bit too complicated for such a simple use case. I just want to disable wlan0 when eth0 is connected.
