    Hi, I am looking for recommendation for object serialization/deserialization library in c++? Which one are the most advanced and open-sourced? Can it handle Any class that users defined? Object hierarchy (parent and child classes)? A Tree of objects? Class A has an attribute of Class B which has an attribute of Class C? STL containers? Class A has a vector of Class B? A cyclic of objects? Class A has a pointer pointing to B which has a pointer to A? I find boost serialization library.   • Getting level values from PCM raw data using Core Audio

    I am trying to extract level data from a PCM audio file using core audio. I have gotten as far as (I believe) getting the raw data into a byte array (UInt8) but it is 16 bit PCM data and I am having trouble reading the data out.     One of the downsides of web.config/app.config is that it's just Magic Strings everywhere, since it's just an XML file. Interpreted languages like PHP or Ruby have the advantage that the configuration is just code that is executed. In .net, doing stuff in code requires a redeployment, which defeats the purpose. Now, before I build my own web.config replacement based on Boo or PowerShell I wanted to know if there is an existing one?

  • PHP and storing stats

    Using PHP5 and the latest version of MySQL I want to be able to track impressions and clicks for business listings. My question is if I did this myself what would be the best method in storing it so I can run reports? Before I just had a table that had the listing id, user ip address and if it was a click or impression as well as the date it was tracked. However the database itself is approaching 2GB of data and its very slow, part of the problem is its a pretty simple script that includes impressions and clicks from anyone including search engines and basically anyone or anything that accesses the listing page. Is there an api or file out there that has an update to date list that can detect if the person viewing is a actually person and not a spider so I dont fill up the database with unneeded stats? Just looking for suggestions, do I just have a raw database that gets just the hits then a cron job at night tally up for the day for each listing for each ip and store the cumulative stats in a different table? Also what type of database should it be? Innodb? MyISAM?

  • visual studio qt5 plugins not working on release

    I'm got this project where i'm showing images with a qt5 interface, i'm simply setting the Pixmap of a label with the qimage pixmap The thing is, it's working on a debug build, but not on a release build and i dont understand why. I already got a folder in my .Exe folder named "plugins" and a subfolder in it named "imageformats", and in this folder the file named "qjpeg.dll" So i coming here to see if someone has an idea on why it doesn't work ? I have a function void foo(istream& input) { input = cin; } This fails (I'm assuming because cin isn't supposed to be "copyable". however, this works void foo(istream& input) { istream& baz = cin; } Is there a reason that I can get a reference to cin in baz but I cannot assign it to input?     I've been asked to resolve an issue with a .Net/SqlServerCe application. Specifically, after repeated inserts against the db, performance becomes increasingly degraded. In one instance at ~200 rows, in another at ~1000 rows.   • What are you supposed to do with old SVN branches?

    We had a SVN branch recently that had been merged back to trunk, and some more work on that feature/functional area was needed. I suggested using the same branch but was told you shouldn't re-use a branch once it has been integrated into trunk (a reference in SVN docs was given, I can't find it now). That suggests a branch is fairly useless once you merge back to trunk, so my question is once a branch is no longer needed, should it simply be deleted or kept?

    Hello, I need to write a PHP script that will print out results from a MySQL database. For example, say I have 9 fields. Field 1 is an auto increasing number, field two is a three digit number. I need to be able to have a script read, find the matching number (it'll be from a POST), and then display all matching three digit results, and the 7 other fields as well. I am already logged in to the database in this script. I guess I'm really at a loss of where to begin. How would one start something like this? Thank you.

  • Bitmap manipulation as a referenced object

    I am working with a Bitmap object that I add annotations or copyright material to the image and then return the modified bitmap. My problem is that the Bitmap won't hold the changes made to it as it moves along the chain. I am treating it as a reference type and would assume that as it gets passed to each class it would carry the changes made to it. I have verified that the code inside of the MarkImage() classes does function, but which ever one gets called last is the one that has changes.   • How can you prevent a window being captured by Print-Screen?

    I noticed a few times than when I print-screen while Media Player is running, the content is replaced with a grey rectangle. I've no idea if it's deliberate due to DRM, or some technical issue, but it struck me that being able to deliberately block screen-capture might be a useful feature in some scenarios. Is there some specific message each HWND gets for print-screen - does Windows do a special repaint or simply dump buffers to the clipboard? I guess I'd prefer to focus this on Win32 specifically, but as long as it's Windows-related then fine.

    Hi, I have a linear layout which has a background image (a 9 patched png file). How can I add padding to left and right so that the background image does not take up the whole width? I have tried 'android:paddingLeft' and 'android:paddingRight', but that does not change anything. <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:orientation="horizontal" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:paddingLeft="25dip" android:paddingRight="25dip" android:background="@drawable/background"> The whole background still stretches the whole screen width. But 'x' and 'y' are Float32's. Is there a way that I can get the code in the first line to compile without having to resort to a typecast like I did on the next line?

  • MySQL - Counting rows in preparation for greatest-n-per-group not working?

    Referring to SO and other sites have given me examples of how to use MySQL to create a 'greatest-n-per-group' query. My variant on this would be to have a query that returns the first 3 rows of each category. As the basis for this I need to sort my data into a usable sequence and that is where my problems start. Running just the sequence query with row numbering shows that changes in category are mostly ignored. I should have 35 categories returning rows but only 5 do so. My query: set @c:=0; set @a:=0; SELECT IF(@c = tdg, @a:=@a+1, @a:=1) AS rownum, (@c:=tdg) , julian_day, sequence, complete, year, tdg FROM tsd WHERE complete = 0 order by tdg, year, julian_day, sequence Do I have a syntax mistake with this query?

  • list(of byte) to Picturebox

    I have a jpeg file that is being held as a list(of Byte) Currently I have code that I can use to load and save the jpeg file as either a binary (.jpeg) or a csv of bytes (asadsda.csv). I would like to be able to take the list(of Byte) and convert it directly to a Picturebox without saving it to disk and then loading it to the picturebox. If you are curious, the reason I get the picture file as a list of bytes is because it gets transfered over serial via an industrial byte oriented protocol as just a bunch of bytes. I am using VB.net, but C# example is fine too.

    if I have 4 variables startTime; endTime; startMerid; endMerid; startMarid and endMarid are either going to be 'AM' or 'PM'. but startTime and endTime are going to be strings like 'dd:dd' so it may be start:12:30 PM and end:5:30 PM How can I validate that the end time is not before the start time?   • Best loose way to get objects with common base class

    I struggled to come up with a good title for this question, so suggestions are welcome. Let's say we have an abstract base class ActionBase that looks something like this: public abstract class ActionBase { public abstract string Name { get; } public abstract string Description { get; } // rest of declaration follows } And we have a bunch of different actions defined, like a MoveFileAction, WriteToRegistryAction, etc. These actions get attached to Worker objects: public class Worker { private IList<ActionBase> _actions = new List<ActionBase>(); public IList<ActionBase> Actions { get { return _actions; } } // worker stuff ... } So far, pretty straight-forward. Now, I'd like to have a UI for setting up Workers, assigning Actions, setting properties, and so on. In this UI, I want to present a list of all available actions, along with their properties, and for that I'd want to first gather up all the names and descriptions of available actions (plus the type) into a collection of the following type of item: public class ActionDescriptor { public string Name { get; } public string Description { get; } poblic Type Type { get; } } Certainly, I can use reflection to do this, but is there a better way? Having Name and Description be instance properties of ActionBase (as opposed to statics on derived classes) smells a bit, but there isn't an abstract static in C#. Thank you!

    Hi, I've been messing with Haskell few days and stumbled into a problem. I need a method that returns a random list of integers ( Rand [[Int]] ). So, I defined a type: type Rand a = StdGen -> (a, StdGen). I was able to produce Rand IO Integer and Rand [IO Integer] ( (returnR lst) :: StdGen -> ([IO Integer], StdGen) ) somehow. Any tips how to produce Rand [[Int]]?
