  • Any simple tools for re-loading a specified web page periodically (Windows)?

    I've got a website that is exhibiting slow performance on the first load and would like to attempt to load it every 5 minutes or so to keep the cache fresh. Are there any simple tools to accomplish this? Scheduled tasks doesn't have quite the time resolution I need. The tricky thing is that this site uses Windows authentication so a wget script won't work. I'm also worried about instantiating a bunch of copies of internet explorer or attempting to kill iexplore.exe tasks blindly.

    Hello all, While nerding my way through the day again. I came across a problem concerning adding children to an already add child control. I can add the controls, but when trying to use the controls in the added control, they all return null. This is the method: protected override CreateChildControls(EventArgs e) { UserControl uControl = LoadControl("~/controls/TwoColumn.ascx"); PlaceHolder holder = uControl.Controls.FindControl(phrContentMiddle) as PlaceHolder; holder.Controls.Add(LoadControl("~/controls/ImageShowControl"); } When i try to call any type of button/UserControl inside the ImageShowControl.... All return null. Is this something in the Page LifeCycle? If so, what is the way to go to realize this?

  • SSL Ajax type of certificate for the static domain (image + js)

    Hi, I have a page that is SSL and has a valid certificate extended. (mainpage.com) But this page request some static content to another domain(page-static.com), basicly images and js. Actually i have only a certificate for my mainpage.com. So now when i request this page i get invalid ssl page because it contains invalid encrypted data (the one provided by the www.page-static.com) What kind of certificate do i need for the www.page-static.com. Do i need the same one as the mainpage.com, because this certificate are expensive (it's a extended certificate). Or a cheap certificate from godaddy will do the trick. This is another question do both certificates have to be signed by the same root provider and/or the same encryption key length (or it can be only 128 bits)? Thanks for your help

  • http 301 redirect from htaccess to domain host

    Hi I have the following in a .htaccess file redirect 301 /page.php http://domain.com/page Which works fine and as expected. I want to be able to redirect the following http://domain2.com/page.php to http://domain2.com/page or http://domain3.com/page.php to http://domain3.com/page or http://domain4.com/page.php to http://domain4.com/page So basically whatever the domain name is, I want to redirect to it. But the catch is I want to use a 301 redirect. Is this even possible ? Or should I be using RewriteCond and RewriteRule ?

  • Does calling a click method effect the HtmlPage object if there is a 404?

    If I call a click method on a HtmlAnchor, and say that page returns a 404, does that mean the HtmlPage will effect, so searching for another link on the page will result in an error because the page's HTML is the error page (assuming the link is NOT on the error page). Can I manually set the page's HTML, and then locate and click on links and continue on from this approach? (other than connecting via a URL)

  • Weird problem: IE8 user can't authenticate with web service

    I have an asp.net app. It has a page that requires authentication. The authenticated user can view the page because he/she is authenticated. The page makes a jQuery Ajax call to a WCF service. The WCF service checks that the user is authenticated via HttpContext. I have a user that is using WinXP and IE8. This user can authenticate to the page, but when the Ajax call is made from the page to the wb service, the user recieves my "session not authenticated" message on the page, generated by the service and displayed on the page. When I use the same OS/browser combo, the page and service work just fine, as expected; no errors. What option in this user's IE settings would cause this behavior?

  • Web page layout becomes broken when moved to live.

    I want to preface my question with the fact that I'm only a front-end web developer, so please excuse my gross lack of knowledge in this area. My company has three webservers: one for development (IIS v5), one for staging (IIS v5), and one for live deployment (IIS v6). Staging is an exact mirror of live. When I compare the staging and live web pages side by side in Firefox (3.6), the pages are identical. However, when I compare the staging and live pages with Internet Explorer (8), there are major differences... In staging, the squares for bulleted lists are small. In live, the squares are big. In staging, the borders for tables are thick. In live, the borders are thin. In staging, an ASP generated image is the proper height. In live, the image is cropped at the bottom by about 10px. In the end, the layout on live became broken because of these tiny differences, but why? Does the fact that live is on IIS 6 and staging is on IIS 5 account for the small variance in display? And is there any way I can change this server side? Also, is there any reason why Firefox displays both correctly and IE displays both incorrectly?

    I am developing a bookmarklet that requires a specific version of jQuery be loaded on the page. When I have to dynamically insert a jQuery script tag to meet the requirments of the bookmarklet I want to wait for the onload or onreadystatechange event on the script tag before executing any function that requires jQuery. For some reason the onload and/or onreadystatechange events do not fire.   • How does an NSTextField know that it's value has changed?

    I have a textfield that can either be edited by hand, or set through another control. (It's a page number, so you can jump to page 16 by typing in 16, or you can page up and down with the next/prev buttons) I have the value of the text field bound to an int page variable. It seems to work correctly, when you type a page number in, it jumps, when you page up and down, the page number in the text box changes appropriately. However, at some level, when I page up and down, the text box doesn't seem to know that it's value has changed, because if I type 1 it doesn't do anything. It doesn't call the bound set-method or anything. It looks like the textfield is thinking "I'm already 1, so I don't need to do anything." Even though it was 5 because I hit next 4 times. If I type an number other than 1, it goes there. If I THEN type 1, it goes to page 1, because now it thinks it's on that other page. The problem seems to be that I'm changing the value of the textfield programatically, but some part isn't getting the message. Does this seem like a reasonable explanation? And either way, any ideas on what's causing it? thanks

    The Windows _setmbcp function allows any valid code page... (except UTF-7 and UTF-8, which are not supported) OK, not supporting UTF-7 makes sense: Characters have non-unique representations and that introduces complexity and security risks. But why not UTF-8? As I understand it, the "ANSI" versions of the Windows API functions convert their arguments to UTF-16, call the equivalent "W" function, and convert any strings in the output to "ANSI". This is what I've been doing manually. So why can't Windows do it for me?

  • Why would a FaceBook application "work" on a profile, but not a page?

    I made a FaceBook application that works fine on profiles, but I can't figure out how to get it to show on a FaceBook page. For example, after I visit the application canvas URL, allow the application, then edit application settings and "add" to box and tab view... I cannot click the "plus" symbol to the left of the tabs in order to add a tab for the application. It does not appear in the list of available applications. Meanwhile, the application is working/showing up on profiles with no issues. I DID check the "Installable to Pages" checkbox on the application (authentication tab) settings. What could cause this?     I want to include certain .js and .css files only on pages that need them. For example, my EditorTemplate DateTime.ascx needs files anytimec.js and anytimec.css. That template is applied whenever I use either the EditorFor or EditorForModel helper methods in a view for a model with a DateTime type value. I've put this condition into the <head> section of my master page.     I am getting well out of my “superuser” depth here and would love some support. At work we have an Excel workbook (*.xls format circa Office 2003) which maintains our “engineers” timesheet. This handles what events we are doing across the year and how many “work units” it is. As far as a workbook goes, it is fairly simple with just a few =SUM(range) cells and some linked across sheets (12 sheets, one for each month) It is stored on a server, in a folder that provides “management” with full access and “engineers” with read-only access. The workbook itself is read-only for “engineers” and full access for “management”. I think these permissions are controlled through Active Directory. The workbook is protected with a password, assumingly to allow “management” to edit it even if they are working at a terminal logged in as an “engineer”. This protection prevents “engineers” from going to certain cells to see formulae and therefore editing them. The workbook has a macro which saves and closes it ten minutes after opening. This is to stop other “management” from being locked out by any one person who has logged in with editing privileges. I hope this is making sense to someone... :S Now then, we have Microsoft Small Business Server 2008. We have a shiny new web-based login for when we are offsite so we can get to Exchange webmail and our internal site (which uses Sharepoint 3.0). “Management” would like to be able to publish this timesheet automatically after changes (they don’t want to have to do anything different to what they are currently doing) so that using an iPhone “engineers” can check on it while out of the office. I am currently having a look at “Excel Services” for Office 2007 on TechNet but I am not sure if I am running down the right garden path at the moment. < EDIT This seems to suggest that I have to have Sharepoint Server 2007, with no mention of Sharepoint 3.0... ... "MOSS builds on WSS by adding both core features as well as end user web parts" - Wikipedia entry for Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) this is not good news... "...and using the ASP.NET APIs, web parts can be written to extend the functionality of WSS." Wikipedia entry for Windows Sharepoint Services. Could this bring back what I need? Is this good news? Do I need to start learning ASP.NET?     I am working with the open source flash player at http://flash-mp3-player.net/ and I am trying to figure out how to limit one sound file at a time. I know this has been done on a number of sites but I am unsure how to approach it. Scenario: A page has five different instances of the flash player. The user is litening to one song but clicks on another to listen to it. Goal: The first audio file automatically stops while the second starts playing instead of both playing at the same time. Do I need to have some sort of javascript handler than interacts with the swf or something?

    I need to create a clients details report for a web based application in c#.Net. There will be multiple client details one by one. When take print of this web page, the first page will be the cover page and the remaining pages contains clients details. The pages except the cover page should be numbered “page x of y” in the centre of the footer. The top of each page should display the client name that is the subject of the sub-report. If part of a sub-report section spans onto a new page, the whole section should be moved to the new page. Any solution for implementing this?
