  We’ve previously written about a tool that allows you to create a bunch of folders at one time from a list of words or phrases. However, what if you want to create one or more folders from a bunch of selected text files? There’s a simple, free tool, called Files 2 Folder, that allows you to do that. Installing Files 2 Folder adds an option to the context menu for Windows Explorer. Simply extract the .zip file you downloaded (see the link at the end of this article). • How is Logitech C510 HD Webcam

  I am going to buy Logitech C510 HD webcam and I just checked on other questions here on AskUbuntu that it works out of the box with cheese. Jorge's response also confirm this and I feel confident buying it now. My question is can it be limited in any functionality that I would like to do with it? I would like it to be used with everything - Skype, Gtalk video chat, Facebook, Youtube etc. Also this may sound lame but I need to know whether I could record or do a video call in lesser resolution video (its a 720p one)?   Could someone please let me know where I might find resources for creating MSM files? While I am able to create MSI files using InstallShield, it seems that Visual Studio no longer supports Merge Module Projects, judging by the link below and the screenshot of my version of Visual Studio 2013 - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/z6z02ts5(v=vs.80).aspx To create a new merge module project: On the File menu, point to Add, then click New Project. In the resulting Add New Project dialog box, in the Project types pane, open the Other Project Types node and select Setup and Deployment Projects. • what is the easiest way to make a hitbox that rotates with it's texture

  In xna when you have a sprite that doesnt rotate it's very easy to get the four corner of a sprite to make a hitbox, but when you do a rotation the points get moved and I assume there is some kind of math that I can use to aquire them. I am using the four points to draw a rectangle that visually represents the hitboxes. I have seen some per-pixel collission examples but I can forsee they would be hard to draw a box/'convex hull' around. I have also seen physics like farseer but I'm not sure if there is a quick tutorial to do what I want. What do you guys think is the best approach becuase I am looking to complete this work by the end of the week.

• Minecraft: Slow performance OUT of the game

  I downloaded Minecraft yesterday to see what the fuss is about, brilliant game! When playing in Windowed mode, if I try and do anything else, i.e. use the computer, when the game is paused, the computer is incredibly slow, it takes a minute just to type a short message into empathy. Also, once I quit the game, the computer remains slow for about 5 minutes, until it magically frees up and becomes fast again. Could this be related to the 512mb RAM limitation of Java, and the machine is swapping? Even trying to submit this post is incredibly slow and frustrating, it's taking me a minute just to click in the 'Tag's box. Any ideas? Ubuntu 10.10 x64 Intel Q9550 4GB RAM nVidia 8800GTS 320mb (w/prop drivers installed)

• Why doesn't max-height hold in Mobile safari in landscape mode?

  I am building a small portfolio site for myself and have come across an odd quirk. I have an image inside a container, and to allow for multiple screen sizes, I am setting all dimensions in % rather than pixels. in iphone portrait mode, everything is fine. • Decent FREE Web Based FTP Alternatives?

  Like the subject mentions, I'm looking for a free FTP Alternative that's web based. What I need is the ability to grant people like our marketing team the ability to upload marketing images and instantly have those images show up in ourdomain.com/images/newimage.jpg. I have found plenty of excellent file sharing programs that are essentially drop box and sharepoint alternatives but have yet to find an FTP Alternative. Also ideally multiple account authentication would be great. If anyone is familiar with cPanel I'm essentially looking for their File Manager or something very similar to it (obviously stand alone and preferably free). Does anybody know if anything like this exists?

• After 14.04 update video/totem won't play midi

  Prior to the upgrade, I could be on wikipedia and play the 'play' links fine where totem would open a window and have screen graphics go on. Now, after researching, installing VLC and it's extensions, making sure the gnome codec installer is activated, and on and on, all I get is : "The parameters passed to the application had an invalid format. Please file a bug! The parameters were: --transient-for=16777296 gstreamer|1.0|totem-plugin-viewer|audio/x-midi-event decoder|decoder-audio/x-midi-event" When totem/video opens and I'm not sure whether the bug is being reported or not. Meaning I don't know if APPOrt is active for this as there's no box with a checkmark in it display. AND the window for totem/video ALWAYS has the sound muted when it opens.

  I have installed Vmware Player 6.0.3 build-1895310. The problem I have is that when I run a Windows 7 Vm, it says that 3D support was disabled. (I can't read the exact report atm because it has a chance of crashing my machine.) I have the 3D support box enabled. Here is my graphics card: Mobile Intel® GM45 Express Chipset x86/MMX/SSE2. Can anyone tell me to install drivers or something? I can't find mine anywhere!

  I have recently installed ubuntu 14.04 in virtual box. Now I want to install g++ 4.7 in it. I am trying this command in terminal but its not working. sudo apt-get install g++-4.7 Reading package list... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done E: Unable to locate package g++-4.7 E: Couldn't find any package by regex 'g++-4.7' But I find gcc was there with Ubuntu 14.04 installation itself. How could I install g++ in ubuntu 14.04 and any version of g++ abouve 4.7.2 is fine with me.

• Unable to boot 12.04 server: no LVM activated and impossible to mount /

  I'm stuck in the Busy Box shell after upgrading from Ubuntu server 11.10 to Ubuntu server 12.04 64 bit. During the booting phase the system hangs while mounting root filesystem. My system is so configured: /dev/sda1 -- /boot /dev/mapper/vg-lv_root /dev/mapper/vg-lv_var /dev/mapper/vg-lv_tmp When the boot process fails and I'm forwarded to the busybox shell, if I type vgchange -ay I can mount my volumes and all it's OK. But it does not enable LVM automatically so that it is impossible to mount root, var, and tmp. I tried to start with a Knoppix, chroot, reinstall (aptitude) both kernel and lvm2 as suggested by this tread "Fixing unbootable installation on LVM root from Desktop LiveCD": nothing changed. I can't figure out what is the problem. Any suggestion is welcome. Thanks in advance.

• Problems with NAT Adapater since upgrade to Ubuntu 12.10

  I was running Ubuntu 12.04 w/ VirtualBox installed. I was using the NAT interface to connect to everything. Basically running VBOX for testing some things and a Windows VM for Netflix.. Was back to working in my VMs today and noticed that I was unable to connect to the internet. In the VM settings I'm using the NAT adapter, however I noticed there is no NAT adapter in the Network Settings under Preferences in VBOX. Not quite sure what happened but wonder what is going on? I noticed there are some posts about changes DNSMASQ and configuring a bridge mode, but this worked out of the box under 12.04 and since the upgrade this no longers work. Need some help please

• -webkit-linear-gradient Not working in Dreamweaver CS6

  I've tried multiple times to apply the following piece of code in a CSS document: display: block; width: 500px; margin: 500px auto; padding: 15px; text-align: center; border: 4px solid blue; background: -webkit-linear-gradient(top,black,white); outline: 7px solid red; Everything appears correctly, except the gradient. I have CS6 Live View turned on, and it still refuses to appear. All I get in my box is a white background, as opposed to the black to white gradient. However, when I type the same line of code into the trial of Coda 2 I downloaded, it works perfectly. Is there anything I can do to resolve the issue?

• How do I make the top panel transparent in Unity?

  I'm using a fresh install of Ubuntu 11.10 using Unity. I'm a newbie to Ubuntu and whilst researching various how-to's, I have seen screenshots where Ubuntu has the bar at the top of the screen shown transparent. I really like this, but I can't get it to do it on my box. I have tried CCSM (2 different methods), Ambience theme editing (a copy) but it always shows as black. I log out after each change and then log back in. Should I be restarting? I'm running: Asus P5Q Pro Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.40GHz x4 GeForce 9600GT 32-bit OS 4x 1GB DDR2 RAM Modules (although BIOS only shows I'm using ~3GB)

While “Windows Internal Database” is Microsoft SQL Server 2005 in a limited edition (just like MSDE, WMSDE before it), the familiar access tools to the DB went missing, and connecting using standard ways doesn’t work either. It doesn’t work right out of the box. First, you need SQL Management Studio Express. Install and start it.   An outside company is redoing our company Intranet. During some basic usage I disovered that the "User Edit" screens, with the "Password: *" boxes have the password in plain text, with the text box "type=password" to "hide" the password. The passwords are not store in the database as plain text, they are stored encrypted using "rijndael-256" cypher using the mcrypt module. I know that if I encrypt a password with SHA*, the password is "Unrecoverable" via one-way encryption. Is the same of MCrypt Rijndael-256 encryption? Shouldn't an encrypted password be un-recoverable? Are they blowing smoke up my rear or just using the wrong technology?

• Running an Application on a Different Domain

  Were I am contracting at right now has a new development domain.  Because of IT security rules it is fairly isolated from the domain my computer normally logs into (for e-mail and such).  I do use a VM to log directly into the domain but one of my co-workers found this command to run things on your box but in the other domain.  Pretty cool. For example this runs SQL Server Management Tool for SQL Server 2008: runas /netonly /user:{domain}\{username} "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\Binn\VSShell\Common7\IDE\ssms.exe" And this runs visual studios: runas /netonly /user:{domain}\{username} "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\devenv.exe" It does not solve the problem I wanted to solve which would be to be able to assign Users/Groups in Team Explorer.  It instead still uses the domain I am logged into's groups.

• Inputting cheat codes - hidden keyboard input

  Okay, here's what I want to do - when the player is at the main menu, I want them to be able to type in cheat codes. That's the only place I want it to work. I don't want to give them a text box to type into. Rather, I want them to simply type in a word (let's say "cheat", just for simplicity sake) that activates the cheat code.   I am a software developer(sharepoint developer) with total 3 years of experience.Though using out of the box sharepoint excites me, i have aversion to code. i kinda cant put my brains in coding. i have my eyes on MBA now(only reason is to get rid of code). I wanted to rethink on this and need your expert advice and suggestions. As i am working currently in a hot skill(sharepoint 2013) technology, is it a good thought to go ahead and do MBA and change my career, or should i start liking what i do?? • Only sdb shows up when installing 12.04 on new Dell inspiron 14z

  I got my brand new Dell Inspiron 14z yesterday, but failed to install Ubuntu. I can boot from a USB stick, and it works well. When trying to install, I confirm that the laptop is connected to the internet etc (as in the 2nd picture in the installation guide: How do I install Ubuntu?). When pressing "Continue" I do not get the question on installation type (alongside/replace/something else). Instead I get a window where I can select partitions: // Picture removed due to low reputation... The problem is that I can only select sdb in the drop drop down box, and I can do do nothing with sdb (like adding partitions etc). The main disk (sda) is partitioned using Gparted the following way: // Picture removed due to low reputation As far as I understand from other threads on askubuntu, this should work... What can I do to install Ubuntu alongside with Windows 7?

• Reputable web host in mainland China? [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: How to find web hosting that meets my requirements? We currently have a rather poorly set up Windows 2003 box with little to no support based in Shanghai; with no control panel/mail server. I am told for legal/business reasons the host must be based in the same location as the company for the website; but this could well be misinformation. Are there any well-known, quality hosts in China that offer reliable English-speaking support? We did consider GoDaddy on the west coast of America, but were informed of the risk of the site being shut down without any notice. We don't have any technically-minded contacts out there to advise, and hoping that someone will have some more experience in this department. Thank you.
