• How to void authorized transaction in authorize.net gateway using ActiveMerchant

  Goal: Only have successful purchases show up on a customer's billing statement. I don't want declined authorizations showing up on their billing statement (as seen in an online banking system) as pending. A customer often will accidentally input an incorrect billing address, for example, followed by a correct one. Together, the two attempts, one successful and one not both show up on their billing statement as pending prior to settlement. This can scare the customer as it looks potentially like they will be charged twice. Details: When I do an AUTH_CAPTURE (via ActiveMerchant's purchase) or an AUTH (via ActiveMerchant's authorize) which is declined and subsequently want to void that authorization (via ActiveMerchant's void) so as not to have it appear on a customer's billing statement as pending (even though it will settle out after a few days), the gateway can't find the transaction to void using the authorization code returned from the authorization or capture method calls on the gateway. This is specific to the authorize.net AIM gateway. Please advise. Thanks!

  Hi, I am implementing a small database(university Project) and i am facing the following problem. I created a class diagram where i have a class Train {Id, Name, Details} And a class RollingStock which is than generalized in Locomotive and FreightWagon. A train is Composed by multiple RollingStock at a certain time(on different days the rolling stock will compose a different train). I represented the relationship train - rolling stock as a diamond filled (UML) but still I have a many to many relationship between the two tables. so i guess i have to create an additional table to solve the many to many relationship train_RollingStock. but how do i represent the Composition? Can i still use the filled diamond? If yes on which side? Thanks

• Adding audio channel using ffmpeg

  Hi all, I am working on ffmpeg and trying to add a audio stream on the fly. I am using AudioQueues and I get raw audio buffer. I am encoding audio with linear PCM and hence the audio I get will be of raw format, which I know ffmpeg does accept it. But I cannot figure out how. I have looked into AVStream, where in we have to create a new stream for this audio channel but how do I encode it to a video which is already initialized in another AVStream structure. Overall, I would like to have an idea of the architecture of ffmpeg. I found it difficult to work since it is least documented. Any pointers or details are appreciated.   I am doing profiling of my Java application and found some interesting statistics for a jdbc PreparedStatement call: Given below is the environment details: Database: Sybase SQL Anywhere 10.0.1 Driver: com.sybase.jdbc3.jdbc.SybDriver connection pool: c3p0 JRE: 1.6.0_05 The code in question is given below: try { ps = conn.prepareStatement(sql); ps.setDouble(...); rs = ps.executeQuery(); ...... return xyz; } finally { try { if (rs != null) rs.close(); if (ps != null) ps.close(); } catch (SQLException sqlEx) { } } From JProfiler stats, I find that this particular resultspace.close() statement alone takes a large amount of time. It varies from 25 ms to 320s while for other code blocks which are of identical in nature, i find that this takes close to 20 microseconds. Just to be sure, I ran this performance test multiple times and confirmed this data. I am puzzled by this behaviour - Thoughts?

• EJB3 Business Delegates

  Is there any reason for making delegate when using EJB3? Because the only real benefit i see from delegate is that it allows to hide lookup and access details of EJB architecture. Well it also provides some decoupling but it's mostly unused, imho. With EJB3 we have injection so now i can just create a variable with @EJB annotation and use it as is. Do i still need delegates? Is this injection resource consuming? I mean if i use it in JSF's request managed beans may be it's still better to use delegates just to lessen these injection calls? Thank you!

• How do continuously update data to an asp page?

  Hi, I have an asp page based on a very simple database. It references a single table of probably 30 records and maybe 12 data fields and everything works great as I am only uploading a new database every week or so. I have a special circumstance where I would like upload new data to the database and display automatically on the page every 20 to 30 seconds without the user having to refresh their screen. I would expect up to 1000 concurrent users accessing the data. I have been manually uploading the database via ftp, which will obviously not work on this timeline and would also run the risk of error pages as the database is being replaced. So, can anyone point me the right direction to setup this scenario? Other details that might be helpful: The database is an Access database (but I could change to another format if needed) Running on Windows platform hosted by an ISP, not my own server Thanks in advance for any help on this!   I was using sandcastle to generate help for my project in visual studio 2008. When i change my project to visual studio 2010 and change the project .NET version to .NET 4.0 i got this problem with Sandcastel. I can't understand why sandcastel is using C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v3.5\MSBuild.exe and not C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0\MSBuild.exe thinking that i specified as framework version the v4.0.30319 Can anyone tell me how to resolve this issue?? DataAnnotations in sample code does not work when the database fields are set to not allow nulls. ERROR occurs with the code from the book and with the sample code downloaded from codeplex. Help! I'm really frustrated by this!! I can't believe something so simple just doesn't work???   I have a method(say method1) that writes to database(sqlserver)and another method(say method2) that tries to access the same database after some time and updates the data row that was created by method1. The problem arises when method1 fails to access db due to the LAN being disconnected (this is not an exception this is a scenario that will definitely arise in my software, getting into details will make the question too complex) if method1 fails to access db method2 cannot work. What I want to do is to make method1 store values to local db instead of server if the LAN is disconnected and as soon as it enters value in local db the application should start trying to access the server after ever 10-15 seconds. What should I use timer or create a new thread?

  I've been searching the net for ~3 hours but I couldn't find a solution yet. I want to give a precomputed kernel to libsvm and classify a dataset, but: How can I generate a precomputed kernel? (for example, what is the basic precomputed kernel for Iris data?) In the libsvm documentation, it is stated that: For precomputed kernels, the first element of each instance must be the ID. For example, samples = [[1, 0, 0, 0, 0], [2, 0, 1, 0, 1], [3, 0, 0, 1, 1], [4, 0, 1, 1, 2]] problem = svm_problem(labels, samples) param = svm_parameter(kernel_type=PRECOMPUTED) What is a ID? There's no further details on that. Can I assign ID's sequentially? Any libsvm help and an example of precomputed kernels really appreciated.

  Hi, I'm developing an application in Rails and want the user to be able to signup and provide their card details on one form. I'm using the Braintree API and their transparent redirect, which means that the form data is posted directly to Braintree. How can I store and later retrieve the non-payment related information provided by the user from that form e.g. account name, username? • Get seconds since epoch in any POSIX compliant shell

  I'd like to know if there's a way to get the number of seconds since the UNIX epoch in any POSIX compliant shell, without resorting to non-POSIX languages like perl, or using non-POSIX extensions like GNU awk's strftime function. Here are some solutions I've already ruled out... date +%s // Doesn't work on Solaris I've seen some shell scripts suggested before, which parse the output of date then derive seconds from the formatted gregorian calendar date, but they don't seem to take details like leap seconds into account. GNU awk has the strftime function, but this isn't available in standard awk. I could write a small C program which calls the time function, but the binary would be specific to a particular architecture. Is there a cross platform way to do this using only POSIX compliant tools? I'm tempted to give up and accept a dependency on perl, which is at least widely deployed. perl -e 'print time' // Cheating (non-POSIX), but should work on most platforms

• What do I return if the return type of a method is Void? (Not void!)

  Due to the use of Generics in Java I ended up in having to implement a function having Void as return type: public Void doSomething() { //... } and the compiler demands that I return something. For now I'm just returning null, but I'm wondering if that is good coding practice... I've also tried Void.class, void, Void.TYPE, new Void(), no return at all, but all that doesn't work at all. (For more or less obvious reasons) (See this answer for details) So what am I supposed to return if the return type of a function is Void? What's the general use of the Void class? EDIT: Just to spare you the downvotes: I'm asking about V?oid, not v?oid. The class Void, not the reserved keyword void.

• How to implement SAML SSO

  How is SAML SSO typically implemented? I've read this about using SAML with Google Apps, and the wikipedia entry on SAML. The wikipedia entry talks about responding with forms containing details of the SAMLRequest and SAMLResponse. Does this mean that the user has to physically submit the form in order to proceed with the single sign on? The google entry talks about using redirects, which seems more seemless to me. However, it also talks about using a form for the response which the user must submit (although it does talk about using JavaScript to automatically submit the form). Is this the standard way of doing this? Using redirects and JavaScript for form submission? Does anyone know of any other good resources about how to go about implementing SSO between a Windows Domain and a J2EE web application. The web application is on a separate network/domain. My client wants to use CA Siteminder (with SAML).

  I've modified my .htaccess file to have the following statement RewriteCond $1 !^index.php$ RewriteRule ^/?([^/]+)$ index.php?c=home&m=details&seo=$1 [L,NS] This allows me to use product URL's like this: http://domain.com/product_name However, when trying to access a file at the same level as index.php, it always calls the RewriteRule above and errors out. I need to be able to access files like below, but each URL currently attempts to load index.php. http://domain.com/about.htm http://domain.com/terms.htm http://domain.com/robots.txt etc Any suggestions on how I can modify my htaccess file to get this to work correctly?

• How can I stop Silverlight DataForm immediately saving changes back to underlying object?

  I have a Silverlight master-details DataForm where the DataForm represents a street address. When I edit the Address1 textbox, the value gets automatically committed to the bound Address object once focus leaves the textbox. If I hit the Cancel button, then any changes are undone because Address implements IEditableObject and saves its state. The problem is that since any change is immediately propagated to the underlying object it will be shown in the master grid before the user has actually hit Save. I also have other locations where this data is shown. This is not a very good user experience. I've tried OneWay binding but then I can't commit back without manually copying all the fields over. The only thing I can think of doing is to create a copy of the data first or using OneWay binding, but they both seem a little clumsy. Does DataForm support this way of working?
