• Java class in JavaFX-project in Eclipse

- by LMA
I recently started learning JavaFX. At the moment I can't build any JavaFX project with Java class in Eclipse. For every input I get error "package does not exist" Path to JRE is set in project's properties. Same class compiles if it is Java-project (not JavaFx). What should I check in project settings or Eclipse prefferences?

• DeltaXML Diff like library for .Net?

- by Jörg Battermann
We are currently using DeltaXML in our .Net application to analyse two versions of .xml files regarding their differences, but since DeltaXML is a java application/library, we're looking for a more homogeneous way to accomplish that task. Does anyone know a .Net diff library similiar to DeltaXML?

• YUI Calendar: Skinning and CSS

- by dound
I'm using YUI 2's calendar in YUI 3. I want to make a few minor changes to the default sam skin. What is the best way to do that? Also, how does it load Sam's skin CSS? I didn't manually include it (though it seems like I should so the user can download it in the one request I make to the combo loader for css?). This is how I'm loading the CSS and JS now:
...
...
... // YUI().use('yui2-calendar', function(Y) { var YAHOO = Y.YUI2; var cal = new YAHOO.widget.Calendar("cal",{navigator:true,mindate:'1/1/2000'); cal.render(); // ... The main problem I'm having is that it seems to dynamically load the Sam's skin, so any CSS I specify in my stylesheet or in the
section seem to be overridden. I can modify the style by getting the nodes and using YUI's Node.setStyle() method, but this doesn't seem like the best way to do things. Note: The script does include more than I need for just YUI 2's calendar, but that's because I use YUI 3 for other things irrelevant to this question.

• How to extract Twitter username from Search API via PHP

- by Alexia
The Twitter Search api returns results in ATOM/XML format which look like this:
In my PHP I can get the name field as a variable, so it would look like this: $names = "username (Friendly Name)" But I want to use PHP to extract them as seperate variables, like this: $username = "username" $friendlyName = "Friendly Name" (without parantheses) TIA!

• Google Bookmarks Accelerator for IE8

- by MACHiNESMiTH
To Editors: Sorry, I didnt realise the question thing till you pointed it out. Also I didn't know about the appengine tag, I'm assuming it was selected by mistake from that JS autosuggestion box (it usually happens with me, I run a P3) my apologies for that too. I've edited it now, if it doesnt work let me know. Hi all, I'm making (or at least trying to make) a Google bookmarks accelerator for IE8, but I keep running into "Internet Explorer could not install this accelerator. There was a problem with the Accelerator's information." Does anyone know why this is happening? Here is the code I've made <os:openServiceDescription xmlns="http://www.microsoft.com/schemas/openservicedescription/1.0"> <os:homepageUrl>http://www.google.com/bookmarks</os:homepageUrl> <os:display> <os:description>Add this page to GoogleBookmarks</os:description> <os:name>Add to GoogleBookmarks</os:name> <os:icon>http://www.google.com/favicon.ico</os:icon> </os:display> <os:activity category="Bookmarks"> <os:activityAction context="document"> <os:execute method="get" action="http://www.google.com/bookmarks/mark?op=add&output=popup"> <os:parameter name="bkmk" value="{documentUrl}" /> <os:parameter name="title" value="{documentTitle}" /> <os:parameter name="annotation" value="{selection}" /> </os:execute> </os:activityAction> </os:activity> </os:openServiceDescription> These are the references I used: MSDN Developers Guide MSDN Format Specification Unofficial Google API (used as a look up so far) and yes i know that I cannot send document variables between schemes (HTTP - HTTPS, for example) or between servers in different security zones (Intranet - Internet etc) Also, if this is the wrong place, what are the recommended sites and/or forums for xml related posts? (not really questions - but more like full blown detailed rant like posts) Thanks

• Use msbuild community tasks without installing

- by mickyjtwin
In our developer environment, no users have administration rights. As such, it's not possible to install MSBuild.CommunityTasks without getting admin to do so. What I'm wondering is similar to NAnt, i.e. is it possible to include the files in your solution directory, and just reference it from there? This way, will not matter if the person has it installed, when they checkout latest code, the msbuild community files will come with, and solution will build. \SolutionDir\{solution}.sln \SolutionDir\Project\{files} \SolutionDir\MSBuild.Community\files

• Xpath help. Get childnode with variable name

- by Kim Andersen
I have the following XML: <StatsContainer> <Variant1>0</Variant1> <Variant2>0.5</Variant2> <Variant3>1.2</Variant3> <Variant4>4.1</Variant4> <Variant5>93.9</Variant5> <Variant6>0.3</Variant6> <Variant7>0</Variant7> <Variant8>0</Variant8> <Variant9>0</Variant9> <Variant10>0</Variant10> <Variant11>0</Variant11> <Variant12>0</Variant12> <GlobalVariant1>4.6</GlobalVariant1> <GlobalVariant2>40.4</GlobalVariant2> <GlobalVariant3>13.8</GlobalVariant3> <GlobalVariant4>2.8</GlobalVariant4> <GlobalVariant5>35.6</GlobalVariant5> <GlobalVariant6>2.8</GlobalVariant6> <GlobalVariant7>0</GlobalVariant7> <GlobalVariant8>0</GlobalVariant8> <GlobalVariant9>0</GlobalVariant9> <GlobalVariant10>0</GlobalVariant10> <GlobalVariant11>0</GlobalVariant11> <GlobalVariant12>0</GlobalVariant12> <MosaicType>Boligtype</MosaicType> <OverRepresentedVariant>5</OverRepresentedVariant> </StatsContainer> As you can see I have a number in the "OverRepresentedVariant"-tag. This number can change from time to time. What i Need is to grab the "Variant"-tag with the right number. In the above case I need to get the value from the "Variant5"-tag (93.9). Tomorrow the "OverRepresentedVariant"-value might have changed to 3, this would mean that I should now grab the "Variant3"-value instead. So this is what I got. I have a variable called $btOver which contains the above XML. I also have a variable called $btId which contains the "OverRepresentedVariant"-value like this: <xsl:variable name="btId" select="$btOver/OverRepresentedVariant" /> So now I need some help finding the Variant-tags with the right ID. The tags that I need will always be named "Variant" followed by an id. So how can I get the right tag? Thanks a lot in advance folks. /Kim Andersen

• I am wondering how the Plural-Field generic is to be rendered in the REST OpenSocial 1.0 API specifi

- by DaveGrahamOrg
In the OpenSocial Data specificaiton 1.0 for a Person object (social profile data) it includes the use of a generic called Plural-Field. The spec can be found at: http://opensocial-resources.googlecode.com/svn/spec/1.0/Social-Data.xml#Person In the 1.0 data specification there is no XSD and no examples showing the use of this generic Plural-Field. After puzzeling the spec for some time I think I might understand the user of this generic. I was hoping that someone could confirm or correct my understanding. For example the accounts field is a generic Plural-Field<Account> while the activities field is Plural-Field <string>. Am I right in assuming that the result XML would look like: <accounts> <Plural-Field> <primary>true</primary> <type>ntlm</type> <value> <Account> <domain>MYDOMAIN</domain> <userid>MYDOMAIN\davegraham</userid> <username>davegraham</username> </Account> </value> </Plural-Field> <Plural-Field> <primary>false</primary> <type>claims</type> <value> <Account> <domain>i:0#.f|claimsDomain</domain> <userid>i:0#.f|claimsDomain|davegraham</userid> <username>davegraham</username> </Account> </value> </Plural-Field> </accounts> <activities> <Plural-Field> <primary>true</primary> <type>ntlm</type> <value>cycling</value> </Plural-Field> <Plural-Field> <primary>false</primary> <type>claims</type> <value>swiming</value> </Plural-Field> </activities> Am I right in my interpretation of the spec?

• in a J2EE application when does a listener get called?

- by josh
I have a J2EE app and it has a listener in web.xml. Listener contains a method called contextInitialized I want to know when does contextInitialized actually get called? From my reading I understand that it gets called when deploying the application. Can there be situations/scenario's where it could be called after the application has been deployed? Say that I am in a Clustered GlassFish app server environment. Could it be called after the application has been deployed?

• C# XElement: Node Formatting with HTML

- by Arnej65
I'm extracting XML node from an XElement. When I use XElement.Value it strips any HTML that may be in the node. I know that if I do XElement.ToString() I can keep the HTML, but it also gives me the node tags. Is there any way to extract the content of a Node as is without the HTML being stripped out? Cheers.

• Simple database design and LINQ

- by Anders Svensson
I have very little experience designing databases, and now I want to create a very simple database that does the same thing I have previously had in xml. Here's the xml: <services> <service type="writing"> 125 <medium>100</medium> <large>60</large> <xlarge>30</xlarge> </service> <service type="analysis"> 56 <medium>104</medium> <large>200</large> <xlarge>250</xlarge> </service> </services> Now, I wanted to create the same thing in a SQL database, and started doing this ( hope this formats ok, but you'll get the gist, four columns and two rows): > ServiceType Small Medium Large > > Writing 125 100 60 > > Analysis 56 104 200 This didn't work too well, since I then wanted to use LINQ to select, say, the Large value for Writing (60). But I couldn't use LINQ for this (as far as I know) and use a variable for the size (see parameters in the method below). I could only do that if I had a column like "Size" where Small, Medium, and Large would be the values. But that doesn't feel right either, because then I would get several rows with ServiceType = Writing (3 in this case, one for each size), and the same for Analysis. And if I were to add more servicetypes I would have to do the same. Simply repetitive... Is there any smart way to do this using relationships or something? Using the second design above (although not good), I could use the following LINQ to select a value with parameters sent to the method: protected int GetHourRateDB(string serviceType, Size size) { CalculatorLinqDataContext context = new CalculatorLinqDataContext(); var data = (from calculatorData in context.CalculatorDatas where calculatorData.Service == serviceType && calculatorData.Size == size.ToString() select calculatorData).Single(); return data.Hours; } But if there is another better design, could you please also describe how to do the same selection using LINQ with that design? Please keep in mind that I am a rookie at database design, so please be as explicit and pedagogical as possible :-) Thanks! Anders

• Using Xpath With Default Namespace in C#

I've got an XML document with a default namespace. I'm using a XPathNavigator to select a set of nodes using Xpath as follows: XmlElement myXML = ...; XPathNavigator navigator = myXML.CreateNavigator(); XPathNodeIterator result = navigator.Select("/outerelement/innerelement"); I am not getting any results back: I'm assuming this is because I am not specifying the namespace. How can I include the namespace in my select?
