  • python win32api registery key change

    - by user340495
    Hi, I am trying to trigger an event every time a registry value is being modified. import win32api import win32event import win32con import _winreg key = _winreg.OpenKey(_winreg.HKEY_CURRENT_USER,'Control Panel\Desktop',0,_winreg.KEY_READ) sub_key = _winreg.CreateKey(key,'Wallpaper') evt = win32event.CreateEvent(None,0,0,None) win32api.RegNotifyChangeKeyValue(sub_key,1,win32api.REG_NOTIFY_CHANGE_ATTRIBUTES,evt,True) ret_code=win32event.WaitForSingleObject(evt,3000) if ret_code == win32con.WAIT_OBJECT_0: print "CHANGED" if ret_code == win32con.WAIT_TIMEOUT: print "TIMED" my problem is that this is never triggered , the event always time-out. (the reg key I am trying to follow is the wallpaper) [ please note I trigger the event by 1) manually changing the registry value in regedit 2) an automated script which run this : from ctypes import windll from win32con import * windll.user32.SystemParametersInfoA(SPI_SETDESKWALLPAPER, 0,"C:\wall.jpg",SPIF_UPDATEINIFILE | SPIF_SENDWININICHANGE) ] Thanks for any help in advance :) EDIT:: sorry about formatting

  • Strange pattern matching with functions instancing Show

    - by Sean D
    So I'm writing a program which returns a procedure for some given arithmetic problem, so I wanted to instance a couple of functions to Show so that I can print the same expression I evaluate when I test. The trouble is that the given code matches (-) to the first line when it should fall to the second. {-# OPTIONS_GHC -XFlexibleInstances #-} instance Show (t -> t-> t) where show (+) = "plus" show (-) = "minus" main = print [(+),(-)] returns [plus,plus] Am I just committing a motal sin printing functions in the first place or is there some way I can get it to match properly? edit:I realise I am getting the following warning: Warning: Pattern match(es) are overlapped In the definition of `show': show - = ... I still don't know why it overlaps, or how to stop it.

  • Why are these strings escaping from my regular expression in python?

    - by dohkoxar
    In my code, I load up an entire folder into a list and then try to get rid of every file in the list except the .mp3 files. import os import re path = '/home/user/mp3/' dirList = os.listdir(path) dirList.sort() i = 0 for names in dirList: match = re.search(r'\.mp3', names) if match: i = i+1 else: dirList.remove(names) print dirList print i After I run the file, the code does get rid of some files in the list but keeps these two especifically: ['00. Various Artists - Indie Rock Playlist October 2008.m3u', '00. Various Artists - Indie Rock Playlist October 2008.pls'] I can't understand what's going on, why are those two specifically escaping my search.

  • Does template class/function specialization improves compilation/linker speed?

    - by Stormenet
    Suppose the following template class is heavily used in a project with mostly int as typename and linker speed is noticeably slower since the introduction of this class. template <typename T> class MyClass { void Print() { std::cout << m_tValue << std::endl;; } T m_tValue; } Will defining a class specialization benefit compilation speed? eg. void MyClass<int>::Print() { std::cout << m_tValue << std::endl; }

  • Will an optimizing compiler remove calls to a method whose result will be multiplied by zero?

    - by Tim R.
    Suppose you have a computationally expensive method, Compute(p), which returns some float, and another method, Falloff(p), which returns another float from zero to one. If you compute Falloff(p) * Compute(p), will Compute(p) still run when Falloff(p) returns zero? Or would you need to write a special case to prevent Compute(p) from running unnecessarily? Theoretically, an optimizing compiler could determine that omitting Compute when Falloff returns zero would have no effect on the program. However, this is kind of hard to test, since if you have Compute output some debug data to determine whether it is running, the compiler would know not to omit it because of that debug info, resulting in sort of a Schrodinger's cat situation. I know the safe solution to this problem is just to add the special case, but I'm just curious.

  • Printing a list using reflection

    - by TFool
    public class Service{ String serviceName; //setter and getter } public class Version{ String VersionID; //setter and getter } public void test(Object list){ //it shd print the obtained list } List< Service list1; //Service is a Bean List< Version list2; //Version is a Bean test(list1); test(list2); Now the test method shd print the obtained list - (i.e) If the list is of type Service ,then serviceName should be printed using its getter. If the list type is Version versionID should be printed. Is it possible to achieve this without using Interface or abstract class?

  • How can I mix command line arguments and filenames for <> in Perl?

    - by Jimmeh
    Consider the following silly Perl program: $firstarg = $ARGV[0]; print $firstarg; $input = <>; print $input; I run it from a terminal like: perl myprog.pl sample_argument And get this error: Can't open sample_argument: No such file or directory at myprog.pl line 5. Any ideas why this is? When it gets to the < is it trying to read from the (non-existent) file, "sample_argument" or something? And why?

  • Debugging Drupal 6

    - by coach_rob
    OK, I've read and attempted all of the tutorials I can find on being able to debug a locally installed Drupal 6 instance. I'm on Windows, 32-bit. I have access to Eclipse (obviously) as well as Visual Studio 2005/2008. I've yet to be able to get any of the Eclipse options (XDebug, Zend, etc.) working to be able to step through code, inspect variables, etc. I've heard good things about VS.PHP, but haven't committed to the $100 or whatever it is. Can some of your PHP/Drupal gurus out there tell me the best, simplest, most reliable way to debug Drupal and PHP on the Windows platform?

  • File::Find and $_ in nested subroutines.

    - by zedoo
    When running the following code, the filenames of all files below C:\Test are printed. Why doesn't it print just Hello (n times, depending on how many files are processed)? Does this imply that I cannot rely on shift to reliably assign to $_? Imagine a coworker implements the wtf function and doesn't know that it's called from a File::Find wanted sub. I run this code with Strawberry Perl 5.12 use strict; use warnings; use File::Find; find(\&wanted, "C:\\test"); sub wanted{ wtf("Hello"); } sub wtf { shift; print; #expecting Hello }

  • Controling CRT memory initialization

    - by Ofek Shilon
    Occasionally you meet bugs that are reproducible only in release builds and/or only on some machines. A common (but by no means only) reason is uninitialized variables, that are subject to random behaviour. E.g, an uninitialized BOOL can be TRUE most of the time, on most machines, but randomly be initialized as FALSE. What I wish I would have is a systematic way of flushing out such bugs by modifying the behaviour of the CRT memory initialization. I'm well aware of the MS debug CRT magic numbers - at the very least I'd like to have a trigger to turn 0xCDCDCDCD (the pattern that initializes freshly allocated memory) to zeros. I suspect one would be able to easily smoke out nasty initialization pests this way, even in debug builds. Am I missing an available CRT hook (API, registry key, whatever) that enables this? Anyone has other ideas to get there?

  • SQL Server float datatype

    - by Martin Smith
    The documentation for SQL Server Float says Approximate-number data types for use with floating point numeric data. Floating point data is approximate; therefore, not all values in the data type range can be represented exactly. Which is what I expected it to say. If that is the case though why does the following return 'Yes' in SQL Server DECLARE @D float DECLARE @E float set @D = 0.1 set @E = 0.5 IF ((@D + @D + @D + @D +@D) = @E) BEGIN PRINT 'YES' END ELSE BEGIN PRINT 'NO' END but the equivalent C++ program returns "No"? #include <iostream> using namespace std; int main() { float d = 0.1F; float e = 0.5F; if((d+d+d+d+d) == e) { cout << "Yes"; } else { cout << "No"; } }

  • How to test a regex password in Python?

    - by jCuga
    Using a regex in Python, how can I verify that a user's password is: At least 8 characters Must be restricted to, though does not specifically require any of: uppercase letters: A-Z lowercase letters: a-z numbers: 0-9 any of the special characters: @#$%^&+= Note, all the letter/number/special chars are optional. I only want to verify that the password is at least 8 chars in length and is restricted to a letter/number/special char. It's up to the user to pick a stronger / weaker password if they so choose. So far what I have is: import re pattern = "^.*(?=.{8,})(?=.*\d)(?=.*[a-z])(?=.*[A-Z])(?=.*[@#$%^&+=]).*$" password = raw_input("Enter string to test: ") result = re.findall(pattern, password) if (result): print "Valid password" else: print "Password not valid"

  • Django model class and custom property

    - by dArignac
    Howdy - today a weird problem occured to me: I have a modle class in Django and added a custom property to it that shall not be saved into the database and therefore is not represent in the models structure: class Category(models.Model): groups = models.ManyToManyField(Group) title = defaultdict() Now, when I'm within the shell or writing a test and I do the following: c1 = Category.objects.create() c1.title['de'] = 'german title' print c1.title['de'] # prints "german title" c2 = Category.objects.create() print c2.title['de'] # prints "german title" <-- WTF? It seems that 'title' is kind of global. If I change title to a simple string it works as expected, so it has to do something with the dict? I also tried setting title as a property: title = property(_title) But that did not work, too. So, how can I solve this? Thank you in advance! enter code here

  • Converting time period strings to value/unit pair

    - by randomtoor
    I need to parse the contents of a string that represents a time period. The format of the string is value/unit, e.g.: 1s, 60min, 24h. I would separate the actual value (an int) and unit (a str) to separated variables. At the moment I do it like this: def validate_time(time): binsize = time.strip() unit = re.sub('[0-9]','',binsize) if unit not in ['s','m','min','h','l']: print "Error: unit {0} is not valid".format(unit) sys.exit(2) tmp = re.sub('[^0-9]','',binsize) try: value = int(tmp) except ValueError: print "Error: {0} is not valid".format(time) sys.exit(2) return value,unit However, it is not ideal as things like 1m0 are also (wrongly) validated (value=10,unit=m). What is the best way to validate/parse this input?

  • different behavior when using re.finditer and re.match.

    - by Shahzad
    Hi, I'm working on a regex to to collect some values from a page through some script. I'm using re.match in condition but it returns false but if i use finditer it returns true and body of condition is executed. i tested that regex in my own built tester and it's working there but not in script. here is sample script. result = [] RE_Add0 = re.compile("\d{5}(?:(?:-| |)\d{4})?", re.IGNORECASE) each = ''Expiration Date:\n05/31/1996\nBusiness Address: 23901 CALABASAS ROAD #2000 CALABASAS, CA 91302\n' if RE_Add0.match(each): result0 = RE_Add0.match(each).group(0) print result0 if len(result0) < 100: result.append(result0) else: print 'Address ignore' else: None

  • Breaking up large DataGridView for printing

    - by Hal
    Hey, I've got a single-row, 40 column-long DataGridView that i need to print. Since i can neither print it directly (because A4 sheets won't cut it ;)) nor adjust its width to the width of the page itself (because the headers look terrible), i wanted to break the DataGridView to 4 separate pieces and display 10 columns per row (imagine: column 1 to 10 in the first line, column 11 to 21 four or five lines below, etc...). Is there an easy way to do this? I was leaning towards a more manual approach (using fors), but i'd love to know if there's a more elegant way. Cheers

  • size of structures in .NET

    - by redpaladin
    My problem is very simple. My problem is to send a structure between a program in C to a C# program. I made a struct in C#: public struct NetPoint { public float lat; // 4 bytes public float lon; // 4 bytes public int alt; // 4 bytes public long time; // 8 bytes } Total size of the struct must be 20 bytes. When I do a sizeof() of this struct: System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine("SizeOf(NetPoint)=" + System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.SizeOf(new NetPoint())); The debug console shows: SizeOf(NetPoint)=24 But I expected to have 20 bytes. Why do I see a difference?

  • How to call a Zend lucene search function?

    - by stef
    I inherited a Zend project devoid of comments and I didn't get to talk to the previous developer. Since I have no Zend experience I'm having some issues :) I'd like to print out some variables inside an function that indexes items from the site using Zend_Search_Lucene because I think something is going wrong here. From what I've read, ::create creates a new index and ::open updates it. So it's in this ::open function I'd like to print out some variables. The name and params of the function are below. Does anyone have any idea how this function can be called so I can run some tests? private function search($category,$string,$page = 1,$itemsByPage = 5) EDIT: OR, is there a way I can nuke the existing index and force it to be rebuilt completely, for example by deleting the index files on the FS and then performing some searches?

AKA: asdf or asfs or wrtw in string = true continue with script if not print this. import re ignorelist = ['^test', '(.*)set'] def guess(a): for ignore in ignorelist: if re.match(ignore, a): return('LOSE!') else: return('WIN!') a = raw_input('Take a guess: ') print guess(a) Thanks
