    We use a SharePoint 2007 site internally with Office 2010. Whenever I open a Word document to edit it, I get a prompt saying: Some files can harm your computer. If the file information below looks suspicious, or you do not fully trust the source, do not open the file. I've been unable to find a reliable answer around the web. Some suggested using the Windows File Types dialog to remove the prompt on download option, but this dialog is not available in Windows 7.

    Is there a way to manage a Hyper-V cluster that runs on a Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter from a Windows 8.1 Pro workstation? I've downloaded and installed the Remote Server Admin Tools for 8.1 (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=39296), but when I enable the Hyper-V manager, it tells me that I can't manage Hyper-V servers on 2K8 or 2K8R2. Related, the Failover Cluster Manager barfs with a similar error. How do I manage my old servers with my new workstation?

  • Which version of emacs is best on Mac?

    On windows and ubuntu I just download the latest drops of emacs straight from the gun/fsf site, but they don't have Mac binaries there. I have a decent version that came with Snow Leopard, but just running in the bash terminal. Is there a version that runs in a standalone window and is more Mac friendly? I did try using ports, and downloaded one called emacs cocoa, but it didn't compile.

    I know of one: The Angstrom Linux distribution has an online builder (called Narcissus) that allows you to select what applications you want preinstalled in the OS, then builds a working image of it for you to download and run from a flash drive. Is there anything like that for more popular distributions like Red Hat, Fedora, Ubuntu, or Debian? I think this would be particularly useful for virtual appliances and server deployment.

I've kept these files in different folders, and now find it extremely hard to find them, and keeping track of obselete files (the almost weekly releases of iTunes versions, or latest 7zip release or the .Net framework installers).     I know this is stupid: I couldn't find anything from IBM website about where to download an IBM jre (specifically, IBM jre1.6.0 J9 2.4 SR6) for a 64-bit Windows OS. Google takes me to a link which looks similar, but that jre would only work on an IBM product, I assume their own server/workstation or something like that. So I've been stuck by this for quite some time... I couldn't believe there is no such a "previous version repository" or something similar on IBM website :( Thanks for any suggestion in advance.

  • Does a 300mbps 802.11n wireless connection have any noticeable speed improvement over 54mbps g?

    300mbps sounds wonderful, but not with my horrible Comcast internet connection. I doubt there's an internet connection in America that even hits 54mbps. So I'm guessing that the only reason someone would be inclined to upgrade is for faster data transfer within the local network. With my internet connection where download rates are rarely ever above a few hundred kilobytes a second, would I even see any improvement in switching from 802.11g to 802.11n?
