• Twill/Mechanize access to html content...

  Hello! Couple of questions regarding Twill and Mechanize: 1) Is Twill still relevant as a web-automation tool? If yes, then why is not currently maintained? If no, has Mechanize matured further to support Twill-style simple scripting? Or is there another package that has stepped up to fill the gap? 2) I was able to very quickly setup a couple of test suites in python using Twill, but I'm a little confused on how to access the information that Twill spits out in my python program. That is, I can do showforms() and see the form values neatly listed and I can use fv to update the form values and submit. But how do I access one of those form values as a python var? • Reset form with jQuery

  I have a form with a standard reset button coded thusly: <input type="reset" class="button standard" value="Clear" /> Trouble is, said form is of the multi-stage sort, so if a user fills out a stage & then returns later, the 'remembered' values for the various fields won't reset when the Clear button is clicked. I'm thinking that attaching a jQuery function to loop over all the fields and clear them 'manually' would do the trick. I'm already using jQuery within the form, but am only just getting up to speed & so am not sure how to go about this, other than individually referencing each field by ID, which doesn't seem very efficient. TIA for any help.

• Adding HTML to the DOM through the client.

  Hi all Just wanted your views on the most efficient way to render content on demand, the reason this has come to light is that I'm maintaining a AA compliant website and we recently added video to it, and one of the techniques to avoid invalidation was to add the HTML for the video to the DOM after the page has loaded - which is fine and working ok. However, I found 2 possible techniques and I would appreciate some views, the one I'm currently using is an AJAX call that returns the HTML, the other technique is a hidden field that contains the HTML - I'm presently using the former. The main reason I'm asking the question is because there may be times when this particular control is also requested via an AJAX call, so I would end up with back-to-back AJAX calls, which seems a bit inefficient to me. I hope this makes sense, are there any better techniques to achieve this? Am I worrying too much over the consecutive AJAX calls? Thanks

  I have tried a few things to enable gzip compression using PHP Simple HTML DOM Parser but nothing has seemed to work thus far.   I have the following code, from which you can see that, I use the same way to create the text in utf-8. The text shown between html tags are shown corrently. But the text shown as html tag attribute are shown in unicode. I'm positive that on the server side(PHP), both texts are treated in the same way and are encoded in utf-8. Why the text as html tag attribute shown in unicode? ?????????????????????? ??

• Inline Form Validation in Django

  Newbie request that seems difficult to implement. I would like to make an entire inline formset within an admin change form compulsory.. so in my current scenario when I hit save on an Invoice form (in Admin) the inline Order form is blank. I'd like to stop people creating invoices with no orders associated. Anyone know an easy way to do that? Normal validation like (required=True) on the model field doesn't appear to work in this instance. Thanks!!

  I am just looking into using HTML Purifier to ensure that a user-inputed string (that represents the name of a person) is sanitized. I do not want to allow any html tags, script, markup etc - I just want the alpha, numeric and normal punctuation characters. The sheer number of options available for HTML Purifier is daunting and, as far as i can see, the docs do not seem to have a beggining/middle or end see: http://htmlpurifier.org/docs Is there a simple hello world tutorial online that shows how to sanitize a string removing all the bad stuff out of it. • HTML Links on IzPack HTMLInfoPanel not working correctly

  In my installer (created using IzPack) i am using HTMLInfoPanel, in the HTML data for this info panel I have a website link and an email address. The problem is 1) When I click on the website link, the page is opened in the Installer panel itself, instead of open the page in the default browse window. 2) When I click on the email link, the page in the panel just refreshes and does nothing instead of opening the mail client for the user. Following is HTML for the link: <a href="http://www.XYZ.com/" target="_blank">XYZ, Ltd.</a> HTML for the eMail link: <A HREF="mailto:[email protected]" target="_blank">[email protected]</A> I couldn't find any help fixing this in the IzPack documentation other forums. • Manually Writing the HTML in TWebBrowser

  I am using the strategy suggested here: http://cc.embarcadero.com/Item/23992 to get my HTML in the TWebBrowser, but I get a bunch of JavaScript errors when the page loads. If I click yes enough times I can see a page with no formatting and I'm guessing the page does nothing. My theory is that because the links in the HTML are relative, the browser can't load any of it. I have switch from passing the URL, 'about:blank' to the navigate function, to passing the servers home page - in the hopes that some internal mechanism will be able to generate full paths, but no luck. Any one successfully been able to manually write HTML to the TWebBrowser.

  I have two models -- User and Entry -- that are related through a has_many relationship (a User has many Entries). I'm using RESTful routing, and have the following in my routes.rb file: map.resource :user, :controller => "users" do |user| user.resources :entries end This seems to work, but in my partial _form file, when I do this: form_for [@current_user, @entry] do |f| # Form stuff end It generates a URL like this: /user/entries.%23%3Cuser:0xb6a6aea8%3E instead of /user/entries Am I missing something? I should note that the correct classes are applied to the form when doing creation vs. editing, so it does seem to be correctly interpreting what I'm trying to do -- it's just that I can't submit the form to an invalid url.

  Hi All, I am trying to create a form that is made up of controls with values that represent an entity with multiple child entities. The form will represent a product with multiple properties where the user will then be able to create options with multiple properties which in turn be able to create multiple option-items with multiple properties. My question is what is the best approach? Can i use ajax to avoid postbacks and having to rewrite the controls to the page? If i dynamically add the controls in the form of table rows or grid rows will the data/control values be available in the code-behind when i submit? This is an age old question.. the last time i had to do this was .Net 2.0, pre-ajax (for me) and i was forced to recreate all the controls on each post back. thanks!

• Drag and drop between HTML 5 and Silverlight 4

  Hi - Is it possible to drag an HTML 5 object, e.g. an , into a Silverlight 4 control and accept it? We've attempted to build a simple prototype using an HTML 5 example and a trivial Silverlight control but the cursor changes to the no-entry sign whenever we hover over the Silverlight control. We do, however, get drag entry events firing in Silverlight. Our control happily accepts files dragged from the desktop as expected. We think we've got the HTML 5 drag events set up correctly, and I can possibly get our test published somewhere in case that will help. We've successfully implemented dragging inside a Silverlight control but we now need to integrate with non-Silverlight page components. Is this actually possible to set up or are we just doing something wrong? Thanks for any advice!

  I need to create a form where for each day in the month the user will enter in several different values (Im thinking a grid sort of thing, values along the top, day of the month along the side) using ASP.NET forms with C# backend...   I have a model that has an arbitrary number of children entities. For simplicity lets call the entities Orders and Items. I would like to have a create Orders form where I input the order information, as well as add as many items as I want. If I click the "Add another item" button, a new set of form elements will be added to input the new data, amounts, etc.. I could hack this out in pure javascript, but I'm pretty sure there has to be a more magical, railsish way to do it, maybe with a partial view or something. I'm just a little too new to rails to know what it is. What is the best way to dynamically add the new form elements, and then to access them in the create controller?

  I have frmParentForm with multiple controls used to build a filter for frmSubForm. On frmParentForm_Load, I am doing (simplified example): Me.sbfInvoice_List.Form.filter = "[created_on] >= #" & Me.RecentOrderDateCutoff & "#" Me.sbfInvoice_List.Form.FilterOn = True The problem is, on initial load, it seems the subform load is occurring first, so the entire table is loaded. Is there a way (in a different event perhaps) to properly set the subform filter from the parent form so it is applied before the subform does its initial data load? (The subform can exist on its own, or as a child of many different parent forms (sometimes filtered, sometimes not), so I'd rather not put some complicated hack in the subform itself to accomplish this.)

  I love the "View as HTML" option in GMail when viewing attachments. I would love to be able to use this feature programatically, i.e. check a GMail inbox, read emails, if there are attachments, get the html view and use that content. I'm looking to do this in C Sharp (on a Mac, can't find the hash symbol). Does anyone know if this is possible or if there's another solution to easily get content from a GMail account, regardless of what format it's in? I.E html, pdf, Word doc, etc. The GMail Inbox Feed api isn't good enough and before I start trying to build an IMAP solution that pulls in PDF/Word doc converters, I thought it'd be good to ask here.

• Capture KeyUp event on form when child control has focus

  I need to capture the KeyUp event in my form (to toggle a "full screen mode"). Here's what I'm doing: protected override void OnKeyUp(KeyEventArgs e) { base.OnKeyUp(e); if (e.KeyCode == Keys.F12) this.ToggleFullScreen(); } private void ToggleFullScreen() { // Snazzy code goes here } This works fine, unless a control on the form has focus. In that case, I don't get the event at all (also tried OnKeyDown - no luck there either). I could handle the KeyUp event from the child control, but the controls on the form are generated dynamically, and there may be many of them - each having many children of their own. Is there any way to do this without generating event handlers for every control on the screen (which I certainly could do with a recursive function)?
