• Facebook Oauth Logout

  I have an application that integrates with Facebook using Oauth 2. I can authorize with FB and query their REST and Graph APIs perfectly well, but when I authorize an active browser session is created with FB. I can then log-out of my application just fine, but the session with FB persists, so if anyone else uses the browser they will see the previous users FB account (unless the previous user manually logs out of FB also). The steps I take to authorize are: Call [LINK: graph.facebook.com/oauth/authorize?client_id...] This step opens a Facebook login/connect window if the user's browser doesn't already have an active FB session. Once they log-in to facebook they redirect to my site with a code I can exchange for an oauth token. Call [LINK: graph.facebook.com/oauth/access_token?client_id..] with the code from (1) Now I have an Oauth Token, and the user's browser is logged into my site, and into FB. I call a bunch of APIs to do stuff: i.e. [LINK: graph.facebook.com/me?access_token=..] Lets say my user wants to log out of my site. The FB terms and conditions demand that I perform Single Sign Off, so when the user logs out of my site, they also are logged out of Facebook. There are arguments that this is a bit daft, but I'm happy to comply if there is any way of actually achieving that. I have seen suggestions that: A. I use the Javascript API to logout: FB.Connect.logout(). Well I tried using that, but it didn't work, and I'm not sure exactly how it could, as I don't use the Javascript API in any way on my site. The session isn't maintained or created by the Javascript API so I'm not sure how it's supposed to expire it either. B. Use [LINK: facebook.com/logout.php]. This was suggested by an admin in the Facebook forums some time ago. The example given related to the old way of getting FB sessions (non-oauth) so I don't think I can apply it in my case. C. Use the old REST api expireSession or revokeAuthorization. I tried both of these and while they do expire the Oauth token they don't invalidate the session that the browser is currently using so it has no effect, the user is not logged out of Facebook. I'm really at a bit of a loose end, the Facebook documentation is patchy, ambiguous and pretty poor. The support on the forums is non-existant, at the moment I can't even log in to the facebook forum, and aside from that, their own FB Connect integration doesn't even work on the forum itself. • Enabling SFTP Access within PLESK

  Hello everyone, I have a client who wants to ensure his upload is secure, so we are trying to enable SFTP for him on our Linux PLESK server. I have enabled SSH access to bin/bash for FTP accounts, and created a new user. When I attempt to SFTP using either the IP address or the domain name, this is the error FileZilla is giving me: Error: Authentication failed. Error: Critical error Error: Could not connect to server Here is some basic information regarding the server: Operating system Linux 2.6.24.5-20080421a Plesk Control Panel version psa v8.6.0_build86080930.03 os_CentOS 5 I had read in some places that I should reboot the SSH Service in Server - Services, however, there is no SSH Service within the list. I'm not really a server guy so it's quite possible I'm missing something obvious. Thanks for any help that you guys can provide!

• JFileChooser for directories on the Mac: how to make it not suck?

  The JFileChooser in "directories only" mode on the Mac has two serious, crippling problems: 1) You cannot create directories with it 2) You cannot switch drives This is rather a huge problem for my installer app. As far as I can tell, Apple provides no way around this problem, you can't even activate the non-native directory chooser ... so the only alternative is to find a free/open source pure-Java replacement widget. Does anybody know of one?

• Can't Remote Desktop to server after rebooting via Remote Desktop

  When I reboot a Windows 2003 or Windows 2008 server via a Remote Desktop connection, the server comes back up and will not accept any RDP connections: the RDP client errors out with "Connection Refused." The Terminal Services service is running on the server and restarting it has no effect. No errors are logged on the server. The only way I've found to fix this is to login at the console or via the DRAC and reboot the machine again, which is an ugly solution for obvious reasons. Has anyone run into this before?

  When a Validator (i.e. StringValidator, NumberValidator, etc) dispatches an invalid event due to validation failure, the errorString property of the source control (i.e. TextInput) is set to a non-empty string which creates a red border around the control and shows an toolTip (errorTip) ONLY when the mouse hovers over the control. Question: Can you force immediate display of the toolTip (errorTip) rather than waiting for the user to hover over the control? If so, how?

• Combining MVVM Light Toolkit and Unity 2.0

  This is more of a commentary than a question, though feedback would be nice. I have been tasked to create the user interface for a new project we are doing. We want to use WPF and I wanted to learn all of the modern UI design techniques available. Since I am fairly new to WPF I have been researching what is available. I think I have pretty much settled on using MVVM Light Toolkit (mainly because of its "Blendability" and the EventToCommand behavior!), but I wanted to incorporate IoC also. So, here is what I have come up with. I have modified the default ViewModelLocator class in a MVVM Light project to use a UnityContainer to handle dependency injections. • Why does OS X insist on spinning up all external drives when loading a file from the local drive?

  Why does OS X insist on spinning up all the attached external drives (firewire, usb) when loading a file from the local (internal) drive? It's driving me insane that I have to wait for 3 attached drives (1 back-up, 2 media) to spin up -- a total of 20s -- to access a file that is located only on my local/internal drive. There is no obvious need to access the other drives; nothing is being read from them and nothing need be written. Examples: Quicktime X opening a file from the local HDD. Starting Caffeine, an app which doesn't access any other files at all. Can I tell OS X to only spin those drives up when actually accessing them?

Their sample code provides functionality similar to what I'm after, I'm just having trouble getting it to work in my app that uses storyboards. It's driving me nuts! Anyone seen an example/tutorial?   Is there any way to get around this exception? Can I not call a .NET 2.0 from 3.5? I have to write .NET 2.0 to maintain capability with BizTalk 2006/R2. But I would like to test with VS2008 Unit Tests to be consistent to other non-BizTalk code that we are testing. Test method ABC.UnitTest.UnitTest1.TestReferenceCode1 threw exception: System.MethodAccessException: ABC.EasyRegEx.extractUsingRegEx(System.String, System.String).

• Subclassed django models with integrated querysets

  Like in this question, except I want to be able to have querysets that return a mixed body of objects: >>> Product.objects.all() [<SimpleProduct: ...>, <OtherProduct: ...>, <BlueProduct: ...>, ...] I figured out that I can't just set Product.Meta.abstract to true or otherwise just OR together querysets of differing objects. Fine, but these are all subclasses of a common class, so if I leave their superclass as non-abstract I should be happy, so long as I can get its manager to return objects of the proper class. The query code in django does its thing, and just makes calls to Product(). Sounds easy enough, except it blows up when I override Product.__new__, I'm guessing because of the __metaclass__ in Model... I have variously tried super(A, cls), Top, super(A, A), and all of the above in combination with passing cls in as the first argument to __new__, all to no avail. Why is this kicking me so hard? Do I have to figure out django's metaclasses to be able to fix this or is there a better way to accomplish my ends?

• iPhone App IDs and Provisioning... Does App ID get used instead of provisioning ID if I decide to us

  This is a question that has been bugging me for a while. I started my app (now submitted -- not yet approved) not wishing to get into the mess that is APNS (Push). I did the following: iPhone Developer Center: Provisioning Portal-Provisioning: Then I created a Development and a Distribution Provisioning Profile. I installed both in XCode. Everything hunky dory. The Development profile scares me a bit by expiring so soon (90 days) but I can remove it from the iPhone(s) and sign it with a new one later. I tested using the Development profile, and later to submitted it by signing it with the Distribution profile. I then uploaded the Distribution profile-signed app to iTunesConnect (app store). Okay, I understand that much. Now, what I don't understand is this: Now that I understand the theories and methods behind how Push works, I am wishing to add it to my app. I already went under: iPhone Developer Center: Provisioning Portal-App IDs: and created a Development Provisioning Profile and Distribution Provisioning Profile there (push & in-app purchase enabled). Here is where it gets confusing to me. All the books and docs I have read say that I have to sign the app with this "App ID" provisioning profile (push-enabled) from now on. Does that mean I no longer ever use the previously created provisioning profiles? If I were to import these "App ID" provisioning profiles into Xcode they will exist alongside my previously generated "non-push" profiles. ~/Library/Mobile Devices/Provisioning Profiles now has 2 files. One Devel and one Distrib. It will now have 4 even though for this app I will not use the "non-push" anymore right? (actually, since they are locked by using bundle-codes and app ids i will never use it again if all of my further versions of this app use Push?) Confused. Can anyone enlighten me? Why not use the "App ID" profiles in the first place for everyone -- even if you are not gonna use push? Would keep it simpler. Should I only generate "Push Enabled" profiles from now on -- even if i am not sure I am gonna use push (or for that matter in-app purchase)? Please give me some insight.   When I hover on a static menu item that has a dynamic menu, the hover styles are in effect but once I start navigating the dynamic menu the static menu item goes back to the non-hover styles. Does anyone know how to make them stick until I stop ''using' that menu? I tried the 'selected' static menu item styles but that doesn't work - if I use them, even when I stop navigating the menu the last selected static menu item will display the selected style - after using the menu I want the styles to revert to the normal styles....

• Using MVC2 to update an Entity Framework v4 object with foreign keys fails

  With the following simple relational database structure: An Order has one or more OrderItems, and each OrderItem has one OrderItemStatus. Entity Framework v4 is used to communicate with the database and entities have been generated from this schema. The Entities connection happens to be called EnumTestEntities in the example. The trimmed down version of the Order Repository class looks like this: public class OrderRepository { private EnumTestEntities entities = new EnumTestEntities(); // Query Methods public Order Get(int id) { return entities.Orders.SingleOrDefault(d => d.OrderID == id); } // Persistence public void Save() { entities.SaveChanges(); } } An MVC2 app uses Entity Framework models to drive the views. I'm using the EditorFor feature of MVC2 to drive the Edit view. The call to SaveChanges() on the database context after updating the OrderItems collection of an Order using UpdateModel generates the following exception: "The operation failed: The relationship could not be changed because one or more of the foreign-key properties is non-nullable. When a change is made to a relationship, the related foreign-key property is set to a null value. If the foreign-key does not support null values, a new relationship must be defined, the foreign-key property must be assigned another non-null value, or the unrelated object must be deleted." When debugging through this code, I can still see that the EntityKeys are not null and seem to be the same value as they should be. This still happens when you are not changing any of the extracted Order details from the database. Also the entity connection to the database doesn't change between the act of Getting and the SaveChanges so it doesn't appear to be a Context issue either. Any ideas what might be causing this problem? I know EF4 has done work on foreign key properties but can anyone shed any light on how to use EF4 and MVC2 to make things easy to update; rather than having to populate each property manually. I had hoped the simplicity of EditorFor and DisplayFor would also extend to Controllers updating data. Thanks

• UIPopoverController. Is there way to use Interface Builder to layout the VC and View it Contains?

  Since UIPopoverController is often a container for a non-trivial amount of view hierarchy, it would be nice to do the layout of the VC and View it contains in Interface Builder rather then programmatically. Has anyone found a good work flow for do this? For example I want to embed a UIScrollView in a UIPopoverController and I am not excited about having to do it all programmatically. Thanks in advance.   I am new to Linux and trying to set up a server. For this project I need some additional software, but how to install the software I'm interested in is not always obvious. For example, this was my experience with a PHP package called htscanner: There is no installation guide on the website. The website says that the version I used did not have any dependencies, but this is incorrect. "Release 0.8.1: No dependencies registered." There is no configuration guide on the website. After I managed to get it installed it still didn't work. I decided to just uninstall it and find a better solution. Uninstalling isn't straightforward; the best answer I got is to manually look for the files and delete them. What are the basic concepts of installing and uninstalling software on Linux? How is this supposed to work?

All the posts and samples I've seen regarding WF4 Rehosting are using a WPF application to initially Host the Workflow, and then use the WorkflowDesigner in ReHosting it. Is there any way to Rehost a Workflow that was hosted in a non WPF application, like ASP.Net MVC?

• What's the most efficient way to reclaim disk space after deleting lots of data from a database on Sybase ASE 15?

  As I understand it, based on some research but zero real-world experience with Sybase ASE, the only way to reclaim disk space once it's been allocated to a database is to export that database, create a new DB with the same schema, and reload all the exported data to the new database. Is this correct, or is there some other method? Then: assuming the above is correct and a full export-recreate-reload is required, what's the most efficient way to do that? Are there tools that will automate all or part of that process? I'm being told we would have to write separate bcp export and import commands for each and every object in the database, which if true sounds easily scriptable by someone who knows Sybase ASE well enough. (I don't.) This seems to me like a really basic housekeeping task, and it feels like I'm missing something obvious.
