• SharePoint 2010 - Access denied during ApplyWebConfigModifications()

  I have SharePoint 2010 installed on a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine which is also hosting SQL Sever 2008 R2. I am attempting to deploy a solution that includes web parts in the 2010 environment that is working fine in MOSS 2007. The Web Part feature has a feature receiver that updates the web.config. When I try to activate the feature through the Site Collection Feature GUI, I receive an access denied message. I am logged on to the server and in SharePoint with the APP Pool account which is also a member of the domain administrator group, local administrator group and SharePoint Farm Admin group. This account is also dbo on SQL Server. This same feature activates fine using the stsadm command. I have dug into this issue at length and here is what I have found: Looking at the Microsoft assemblies in reflector, my error is coming from the SPWebApplication.ApplyWebConfigModifications() method. I can see the trace statements from SPWebConfigFileChanges.RemoveModificationsWebConfigXMLDocument and SPWebConfigFileChanges.ApplyModificationsWebConfigXMLDocument. The next line is a Save(str).   I am implementing a MVVM pattern in my WPF application. My application main window is divided into four parts: Main Menu On the Top Outlook Navigation Control on the Left. A List View on the Middle. Another List view on the bottom. The Navigation control shows different setting (configuration) controls in the Tab items. All the four above are user controls which are placed in the main window. And corresponding to each user control there is separate view model which is bounded with a view model in the XAML of each control, however the model class remain the same between all the view model. And a MainWindow has a seperate View Model which is also bounded with a view model in the XAML of each control. Please help me out in framing a design in which each view models of all the controls above will interact with each other. Please let me know if my question is not clear to you!!

  Hi, we have a VSTO outlook add-in we'd like to silently deploy to everyone via AD. I'm signing the App with a "Code signing" certificate (requested certmgr from AD). If I add this certificate to my Trusted Publishers, then I can silently install the signed app via the VSTOInstaller.exe (with the /S switch). We don't want to have to install my certificate as a trusted publisher on everyone's machine - we'd like to be able to say that any code signed by a certificate issued within our AD is trusted. Is there some way to do this?

• why does absolute paths of images gets converted to cid?

  I've got mailings that need to be sended using cron. When I load the script manualy all works fine. With cron i get broken images. to change the src of my img i used: $body = eregi_replace("managersrc_logo","images/managers/acertainlogo.jpg",$body); Because i thaught that it is importent to use absolute paths i also tried: $body = eregi_replace("managersrc_logo","http://www.site.com/images/managers/acertainlogo.jpg",$body); In that case i even do not see the images when i run the cronscript manualy. Nor the automated cron will display me the images. When i check the source of the mail that is received i always see "cid:encryptedstuff" even if i use absolute paths? Why is that? I just want my absolute paths being printed in the src attribute of the img tag. Who changes my absolute path to cid: ? is it php, phpmailer or outlook itself? Any help someone?.... David

  Hi everybody, I'm trying to resize dynamically a CMFCPropertySheet to add a custom control at the bottom of each page. As all Property Pages are not of the same height, I have a mechanism to increase the size if necessary. For this, I have overridden the OnActivatePage method and by using SetWindowPos, I can resize the sheet, first, then the tab control, then the page and finally I can move the OK/Cancel/Help buttons. It works fine with PropSheetLook_OutlookBar and PropSheetLook_Tabs styles but not with PropSheetLook_OneNoteTabs style. The page (or the tab) is not correctly resized (the lighter grey color of the page does not fill the sheet. OneNote style Outlook style Any idea? A MFC Feature Pack bug?

  I setuped gitosis on a linux server following this tutorial: http://scie.nti.st/2007/11/14/hosting-git-repositories-the-easy-and-secure-way We are using git on our windows machines with TortoiseGit and msysgit. Pushing changes to the server is pretty fast, but when we want to clone or fetch changes from the remote server, it begins really fast (800k/s) and then drop pretty fast to around 3 to 30k/s and it can take forever to update. git-pull for small update is fast, but as soon as we have to download something of more than a few MB, it is slow. We are switching from SVN to git and this is holding us back from using git full time. Thanks!

• Are there any tools for monitoring individual Apache virtual hosts in real-time?

  I'm looking for a way to monitor and record Apache traffic, separated by virtual host. I am currently using Munin to capture this and other data for the entire server however I can't seem to find a way to do this by vhost. This link describes using a module called mod_watch which is apparently no longer in development: http://www.freshnet.org/wordpress/2007/03/08/monitoring-apaches-virtualhost-with-munin/ The file that is listed as being compatible with Apache 2.x is reported to have problems with missing vhosts an reporting data correctly. Does anyone know of a reliable way to determine real-time traffic per vhost? If I can find this it should be easy enough to write a new Munin plugin. Edit: What I'd really like to see is something similar to the Apache server-status scoreboard page with the number of connections / requests separated by virtual host. This would give me the ability to check which vhost may be experiencing a spike in traffic in real time and would also provide the data needed for a Munin module (or some alternative performance monitoring / analysis system.)

• Ethernet interface number changed, and old one does not exist, but does not leave IP address

  I have a virtual machine with Mandriva 2007.0 (yes, old - unfortunately we do not have a choice here). Anyway, the problem: Before reboot: active network interface = eth0. No other interfaces present, and network manager confirms this. Static IP address set to 172.31.2.22. No issues, everything working properly, routing et al. -------Reboot--------- After reboot: active network interface = eth1, with a DHCP address. Network manager shows eth0 as disconnected, and not connectable. When I try to set eth1 up with the static IP address (same one), it says "In Use". I then tried ifconfig eth0 172.31.2.29 just to free it up from the eth0 interface so I could use it with eth1 (since this is connected). Result: ifconfig eth0 172.31.2.29 SIOCSIFADDR: No such device eth0: unknown interface: No such device Nothing else changed. Any ideas what could be happening, or at least how I can get my IP address back?

• Microsoft Entrourage: rendering hyperlinks?

  When we send emails from my project, we send in both text/plain and text/html formats. All major clients (gmail, yahoo, hotmail, thunderbird, outlook) correctly display the simple HTML that we are using. However, Entourage renders all tags EXCEPT hyperlinks. What is confusing is that emails from other domains render hyperlinks correctly in Entourage. We have tried comparing the source / headers of our emails with others emails that seem to "work" and don't see any obvious differences. I googled around this issue and the only thing I could find what that Entourage doesn't allow users to insert hyperlinks when composing a message. Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong?
