• Massive SQL issue shutting down our site.

  Our website has started timing out like crazy today. All of our clients are finding it unusable. The only error we can seem to trace down as a potential problem is this: SQLAllocHandle on SQL_HANDLE_DBC failed Error ASP Description Error Category Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers I have no idea what it means or how to go about fixing it. Anyone ever encountered this error before? Currently, you can log in to our site, but then once you go to do anything else, you find yourself logged out or nothing happens. We have a lot of Ajax going on so the "nothing happens" probably has to do with the Ajax pages not loading properly due to logouts and so nothing displays to the user. Like I said, I'm at a loss. Anyone have any advice on this error?

• Makecert problem under Windows 7

  I'm creating a certificate to use with an SslStream, and I've been doing it this way under XP: makecert -r -pe -n "CN=aName" -ss my -sr localmachine -sky exchange -sp "Microsoft RSA SChannel Cryptographic Provider" -sy 12 server.cer If I understand this correctly, this creates a certificate in server.cer, and creates a private key for it in my personal certificate store. Once I have done this, I can create a certificate object like this: X509Certificate.CreateFromCertFile(certFile); I then use it with the SSLStream, and everything works fine. Now that I have switched to Windows 7, the private key seems to be disappearing every time I restart the machine. I run a command prompt as Administrator, and execute the same makecert command shown above. This succeeds and the SSL connection works correctly. If I restart the machine, the call to AuthenticateAsServer fails with the exception "The server mode SSL must use a certificate with the associated private key." Why is the private key disappearing? What do I need to do to make it stick around?

• Custom ASP.NET MVC cache controllers in a shared hosting environment?

  I'm using custom controllers that cache static resources (CSS, JS, etc.) and images. I'm currently working with a hosting provider that has set me up under a full trust profile. Despite being in full trust, my controllers fail because the caching strategy relies on the File class to directly open a resource file prior to treatment and storage in memory. Is this something that would likely occur in all full trust shared hosting environments or is this specific to my host? The static files live within my application's structure and not in an arbitrary server path. It seems to me that custom caching would require code to access the file directly, and am hoping someone else has dealt with this issue.

• Ignore certificate errors when requesting a URL in Java

  I'm trying to print a URL (without having a browser involved at all) but the URL is currently throwing the following: javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target I'm calling the URL using a JEditorPane's setPage method, which just takes a URL as a parameter. Assuming I can't change anything server side and I still need to get to this resource, how would I go about ignoring the certificate error (or something else that gets me to my goal)? Accessing this URL via a browser tells me the site is untrusted and asks me if I want to proceed.

For this i created a web application with windows authentication for intranet zone and after that, I created an extension for an internet zone with fba. In the internet extension we have the following requirement: - able to acess to sharepoint backoffice using fba. - have a authentication mecanism for portal visitors, where they can authenticate and acess to a page where they can subscribe the newsletter and define some site appearance (this users can't acess to sharepoint backoffice). My idea is use the aspnet membership provider to authenticate both users and create diferente roles for them. Anyone suggests another approach? Is there any way to ensure that visitors (2 case) do not enter the backoffice portal? Thanks

• Entity Framework Performance Inconsistency Compared to Sql Management Studio

  I'm getting timeouts with a very basic EF statement. I'm simply doing a select from a single table with a Entity.Title.StartsWith("test") and a .Take(25). When I run this for a search that returns no results I get a timeout. If I profile and grab the sql statement it looks fine, and if I run that sql in Management Studio it runs in a fraction of a second! Why would the same query run sub-second in Management Studio and timeout when generated by EF and called from an Asp.Net app?

  Hi all, I wanted to have users within my website to have their own URL like http://mysite.com/username (similar to GitHub, e.g. my account is http:// github. com/sr3d). This would help with SEO since every profile is under the same domain, as apposed to the sub-domain approach. My site is running on Rails and Nginx/Passenger. Currently I have a solution using a bunch of rewrite in the nginx.conf file, and hard-coded controller names (with namespace support as well). I can share include the nginx.conf here if you guys want to take a look. I wanted to know if there's a better way of making the URL pretty like that. • Is it possible to read to a Paradox 7.x .db file in a .Net app?

  I'm trying to read a Paradox 7.x .db file in a .Net 3.5 app and I'm not being successful on that. First of all, when I'm registering the odbc, as a user or system dsn, the Microsoft Paradox ODBC Driver only display versions up to 5.x, so it looks like that it does not support Paradox version 7.x. At connectionsstrings.com I've found the connection string that is supposed to work with Paradox 7.x: Provider=MSDASQL;Persist Security Info=False;Mode=Read; Extended Properties='DSN=Paradox;DBQ=C:\mydbfolder; DefaultDir=C:\mydbfolder;DriverId=538;FIL=Paradox 7.X;MaxBufferSize=2048; PageTimeout=600;';Initial Catalog=C:\mydbfolder But when I try to test the connection using a Data Adapter I get the following exception: "ERROR [IM002] [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified" I have specified the ODBC as a user DSN and as a System DSN as well but kept receiving the same error. • Detect car acceleration in Android app?

  I want to incorporate some Accelerometer code into a Android application im working and want to see if this is possible. Basically what I need is for the code to detect car acceleration motion. I am not wanting to determine speed with the code but just distinguish if the phone is in a car and has accelerated motion (Hence the car is moving for the first time). I have gone through many different accelerometer applications to see if this motion produces a viable profile to go off of and it appears it does. Just looking for something that popups a "Hello World" dialog when it detects your in the car and its moving for the first time down the street. Any help would be appreciated and a simple yes or no its possible would work. I would also be interested in compensating anyone that is capable of doing this as well. • Selenium and HTTPS/SSL

  I'm running selenium-rc 1.0.3 on a Mac OS X & Windows 7 and both seem to be giving my the annoying accept cert error in firefox. In reading the docs they say I should be able to just use the *firefox run mode and rc should take care of it for me via a proxy or something, but this appears to not work. The only solution that I was able to find on the internet was to create a skeleton profile and pass the path into the rc startup, but thats not a real option. As that doesn't solve problems of testing in IE/Chrome/Safari. Does any know of any other solution that will work. • Supporting multiple versions without separate builds in JavaME

  I want to be able to support multiple versions of Java ME without having to have multiple builds. I already know how to detect the profile/configuration/supported JSRs. My problem is that knowing whether the JSR is supported at run time doesn't allow me to use all the features. For if I call a function added in a later version anywhere in the code - even a location that will never be run, then this will be a compilation error due to static typing. Is there any way round this?

  I am working with a distributed application communicating over GPRS. I use UDP packets to send business data and ICMP pings to verify connectivity. And now I have a problem with calculating a traffic for which I will be charged by the provider. I have to consider following factors: UDP payload: that is obvious. UDP overhead: UDP header + IP header = 8 + 20 bytes. ICMP echo request without data: IP header + ICMP payload = 28 bytes. ICMP echo reply: as in 3. Above means that for evey data packet I am charged for payload + 28 bytes and for every ping 56 bytes. Am I right or I am missing/misunderstanding something?

• Replacing xcode with macports software

  I have been trying to replace everything in xcode with stuff I can get from macports. So far, I installed xcode, then macports, then used macports to install gcc, gcc_select, gmake, elf-bintools, bintools, arm-bintools (just to be sure I replaced all the bintools), and then uninstalled all of xcode. I then linked /usr/bin/make with /opt/local/bin/gmake and used gcc_select to select gcc44--the one from macports. I also exported all the bintool executable paths into the .profile path. I was sure this would work (although I should have known better after working on it for 48 hours straight), but nothing will configure, and the log files all have the common error: :info:configure configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables I have a feeling it has something to do with libraries, but I am really not sure. I use a mac 10.5.8. If this is truely 'impossible', what parts of xcode to I need for macports to work? For example, I can uninstall the xcode folder without a problem.

What i want to do is ignore the blank ones, I find this harder to sort through in the update controller than a non nested attribute. What i have temporarily is a hack in the after_save callback deleting the empty records. Whats the most rails way to ignore these blank objects? I dont want validation and errors, just a silent deletion/ignore.

  I had cucumber 0.6.1 working quite fine... but I ran the gem update cucumber command, and things went smoothly. Then when I decided to run the cucumber features command, I received this error: Using the default profile... no such file to load -- cucumber/webrat/element_locator (MissingSourceFile) /usr/local/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/rubygems/custom_require.rb:31:in gem_original_require' /usr/local/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/rubygems/custom_require.rb:31:inpolyglot_original_require' So I tried a few things... I did a gem update on webrat, that didn't work. I removed all previous versions of cucumber by doing gem uninstall cucumber then selecting past versions. Same with webrat. No luck. What am I doing wrong?

• Signature invalid only for ad hoc

  I'm not sure what changed on my ad hocs but I get this error when trying to install: Application failed codesign verification. The signature was invalid, or it was not signed with an Apple submission certificate. (-19011) Device debug builds fine. The cert that is associated with my ad hoc provisioning profile doesn't expire until 2011. I've searched Google but haven't found any applicable solution, except some mention about deleting and recreating the certs. Before I go down that rode, has any one experienced and resolved this issue? I'm using Xcode 3.2.3 and building against sdk 3.0.

• Is it possible to reference the Azure SDK 1.1 Microsoft.WindowsAzure.* assemblies from a .NET 4.0 Cl

  I have a WPF application targetting the .NET 4.0 Client Profile which needs to use the Microsoft.WindowsAzure.* assemblies provided in the Windows Azure SDK 1.1. The problem is that these assemblies have a runtime version of v2.0.50727. I am able to add references to them from my WPF project but they're not recognised. I've read about the side by side execution capabilities of .NET 4.0 but does this require both the .NET 2.0 and the .NET 4.0 frameworks to be installed? Is there anything from Microsoft on when a new SDK might be available that contains assemblies targeting .NET 4.0?

• Dialing a command prefix on the iPhone

  Our application lets users call phone numbers. Users would like to be able to block their caller ID. On other platforms, we let the user specify a custom dialing prefix. For instance, on my cell provider it's #31#. I've tried two approaches so far. • Copy / Move One SAP Client From One System to another System

  We have one SAP system in the US (lets call it TKIJVPL1), this system has an SAP Client, client 241. We have another SAP system in Germany (lets call it Lockweiler). We need to move this client 241 from our TKIJVPL1 server to this new server. Can I simply use transaction SCC8? It says client export, but when I look at the options it says Source client : 241 (which is good), it says Profile Name SAP_ALL (which is also good as I need all data), but Target System all that is coming up is PL1 / QL1. What is the easiest way to export one client from one system to another system in SAP?

• Add columns to SqlWebEventProvider

  In an asp.net application, we'd like to use the SqlWebEventProvider to log any Event that occurs during the application lifetime. The problem is that we think that the table aspnet_WebEvent_Event doesn't provide enough columns and should log more information (we need to keep the Logged user). I'm aware that this information could be stored in the "Details" column but it wouldn't then be really simple to filter the results and build reports. So I'm searching for a simple solution to add a column. I wish I could derive SqlWebEventProvider but the methods used to build the stocked procedure parameters are private (PrepareParams() and FillParams()). Any simple solution that doesn't imply to rewrite the entire Provider class ?

I need everytime a user login the application, to setup a new provider linked with his own database. All databases have the same structure. So while querying user the commom generated DAL classes must switch for the database file relative the the user. Is there a way for configure SubSonic for doing that switch at runtime? Thanks.

  I am trying to write a module that will change a user's permissions once a node form is inserted into the database. I already have a role assigned when a user registers, but i want that role to be changed once they create a 'company' profile in this case which is when they fill out a cck form of 'company_post' type.
