  • Social Network News Feed Database & Design

    - by pws5068
I'm designing a News Feed system using PHP/MySQL similar to facebook's. I have asked a similar question before but now I've changed the design and I'm looking for feedback. Example Notifications: User_A commented on User_B's new album. "Hey man nice picture!" User_B added a new Photo to [his/her] profile. [show photo thumbnail] Initially, I implemented this using excessive columns for Obj1:Type1 | Obj2:Type2 | etc.. Now the design is set up using a couple special keywords, and actor/receiver relationships. My database is designed for efficiency - using a table of messages joined on a table containing userid, actionid, receiverid, receiverObjectTypeID, Here's a condensed version of what it will look like once joined: News_ID | User_ID | Message | Timestamp 2643 A %a commented on %o's new %r. SomeTimestamp 2644 B %a added a new %r to [his/her] profile. SomeTimestamp %a = the User_ID of the person doing the action %r = the receiving object %o = the owner of the receiving object (for example the owner of the album) (NULL if %r is a user) Questions: Is this a smart (efficient/scalable) way to move forward? How can I show messages like: "User_B added 4 new photos to his profile."?

  • jQuery Datatables throws error when dynamically created row headers

    - by JM4
I am using the Datatables jquery plugin for one of my projects. For one in particular, the number of columns can vary based on how many children a consumer has (yes I realize normalization and proper technique would insert on another row but it is a client requirement). Datatables must be set up as such: <table> <thead> <tr> <th></th> </tr> </thead> <tbody> <tr> <td></td> </tr> </tbody> </table> my script starts out as: <table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0" class="display" id="sortable"> <thead> <tr> <th>parent name</th> <th>parent phone</th> <?php try { $db->beginTransaction(); $stmt = $db->prepare("SELECT max(num_deps) FROM (SELECT count(a.id) as num_deps FROM children a INNER JOIN parents b USING(id) WHERE a.id !=0 GROUP BY a.id) x"); $stmt->execute(); $rows = $stmt->fetchAll(); for($i=1; $i<=$rows[0][0]; $i++) { echo " <th>Child Name ".$i."</th> <th>Date of Birth ".$i."</th> "; } $db->commit(); } catch (PDOException $e) { echo "<p align='center'>There was a system error. Please contact administration.<br>".$e->getMessage()."</p><br />"; } ?> </tr> </thead> In this manner, the final column headers can be 1 or 50 spots long. However, with this dynamic code in place, datatables throws the following error: ""DataTables warning (table id = 'datatable'): Cannot reinitialise DataTable. To retrieve the DataTables object for this table, please pass either no arguments to the dataTable() function, or set bRetrive to true. Alternativly, to destroy old table and create a new one...ETC."' Yes I have set "bRetrieve" : true in the javascript above and that does not do the trick. If I remove the code above, the file "works" fine but it leaves off the necessary columns for my table. Any ideas? • PDO bindparam not working.

    - by jim
I am trying to save data into a database using PDO. All columns save correctly with the exception of one. No matter what I try, I cannot get the data to go in. myfunc($db, $data) { echo $data; // <----- Outputs my data. example: 'jim jones' $stmt = $db->prepare("CALL test(:id, :data, :ip, :expires)"); $stmt->bindParam(':id', $id, PDO::PARAM_STR); $stmt->bindParam(':data', $data, PDO::PARAM_STR); $stmt->bindParam(':ip', $ip, PDO::PARAM_STR); $stmt->bindParam(':expires', $expires, PDO::PARAM_STR); ... } So even after verifying that the data variable in fact holds my data, the bindParam method will not bind. When I echo the data variable, I can see the data is there. It will not save though. If I copy the echo'd output of the data variable to screen and paste it into a new variable, it WILL save. I'm at this now for a couple of hours. Can someone please have a look? EDIT: I want to also mention that I have tried using bindValue() in place of bindParam() and the data for the data variable will still not save.

  • Working with a CSV file with odd encapsulation // PHP

    - by Patrick
I have a CSV file that I'm working with, and all the fields are comma separated. But some of the fields themselves, contain commas. In the raw CSV file, the fields that contain commas, are encapsulated with quotes, as seen here; "Doctor Such and Such, Medical Center","555 Scruff McGruff, Suite 103, Chicago IL 60652",(555) 555-5555,,,,something else the code I'm using is below <?PHP $file_handle = fopen("file.csv", "r"); $i=0; while (!feof($file_handle) ) { $line = fgetcsv($file_handle, 1024); $c=0; foreach($line AS $key=>$value){ if($i != 0){ if($c == 0){ echo "[ROW $i][COL $c] - $value"; //First field in row, show row # }else{ echo "[COL $c] - $value"; // Remaining fields in row } } $c++; } echo "<br>"; // Line Break to next line $i++; } fclose($file_handle); ?> The problem is I'm getting the fields with the commas split into two fields, which messes up the number of columns I'm supposed to have. Is there any way I could search for commas within quotes and convert them, or another way to deal with this?

  • Ideas for a rudimentary software licensing implementation

    - by Ross
I'm trying to decide how to implement a very basic licensing solution for some software I wrote. The software will run on my (hypothetical) clients' machines, with the idea being that the software will immediately quit (with a friendly message) if the client is running it on greater-than-n machines (n being the number of licenses they have purchased). Additionally, the clients are non-tech-savvy to the point where "basic" is good enough. Here is my current design, but given that I have little to no experience in the topic, I wanted to ask SO before I started any development on it: A remote server hosts a MySQL database with a table containing two columns: client-key and license quantity The client-side application connects to the MySQL database on startup, offering it's client-key that I've put into a properties file packaged into the distribution (I would create a new distribution for each new client) Chances are, I'll need a second table to store validation history, so that with some short logic, the software can decide if it can be run on a given machine (maybe a sliding window of n machines using the software per 24 hours) If the software cannot establish a connection to the MySQL database, or decides that it's over the n allowed machines per day, it closes The connection info for the remote server hosting the MySQL database should be hard-coded into the app? (That sounds like a bad idea, but otherwise they could point it to some other always-validates-to-success server) I think that about covers my initial design. The intent being that while it certainly isn't full-proof, I think I've made it at least somewhat difficult to create an easily-sharable cracking solution. Also, I can easily adjust the license amount for a given client/key pair. I gotta figure this has been done a million times before, so tell me about a better solution that's just as simple to implement and provides the same (low) amount of security. In the event that external libraries are used, I prefer Java, as that's what the software has been written in.

  • Graph-structured databases and Php

    - by stagas
I want to use a graph database using php. Can you point out some resources on where to get started? Is there any example code / tutorial out there? Or are there any other methods of storing data that relate to each other in totally random/abstract situations? - Very abstract example of the relations needed: John relates to Mary, both relate to School, John is Tall, Mary is Short, John has Blue Eyes, Mary has Green Eyes, query I want is which people are related to 'Short people that have Green Eyes and go to School' - answer John - Another example: TrackA -> ArtistA -> ArtistB -> AlbumA -----> [ label ] -> AlbumB -----> [ A ] -> TrackA:Remix -> Genre:House -> [ Album ] -----> [ label ] TrackB -> [ C ] [ B ] Example queries: Which Genre is TrackB closer to? answer: House - because it's related to Album C, which is related to TrackA and is related to Genre:House Get all Genre:House related albums of Label A : result: AlbumA, AlbumB - because they both have TrackA which is related to Genre:House - It is possible in MySQL but it would require a fixed set of attributes/columns for each item and a complex non-flexible query, instead I need every attribute to be an item by itself and instead of 'belonging' to something, to be 'related' to something.

  • Problem Displaying XML in Grid View-newbie

    - by Dean
I am trying to do something in VisualWebDev 2008 Express that I thought would be simple, but it is not working. I want to display data from an XML file so I added the XMLDataSource to my page, pointed it to the XML file, and then added the GridView and connected it to the datasource. I am getting the following error: GridView - GridView1There was an error rendering the control. • adding header row to gridview won't allow you to save the last item row

    - by Lex
I've modified my GridView to have an extra Header row, however that extra row has caused my grid view row count to be incorrect. Basically, when I want to save the Gridview now, it doesn't recognize the last item line. In my current test I have 5 Item Lines, however only 4 of them are being saved. My code for creating the additional header Line: protected void gvStatusReport_RowDataBound(object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e) { // This grid has multiple rows, fake the top row. if (e.Row.RowType == DataControlRowType.Header) { SortedList FormatCells = new SortedList(); FormatCells.Add("1", ",6,1"); FormatCells.Add("2", "Time Spent,7,1"); FormatCells.Add("3", "Total,2,1"); FormatCells.Add("4", ",6,1"); GetMultiRowHeader(e, FormatCells); } } The function to create a new row: public void GetMultiRowHeader(GridViewRowEventArgs e, SortedList GetCels) { GridViewRow row; IDictionaryEnumerator enumCels = GetCels.GetEnumerator(); row = new GridViewRow(-1, -1, DataControlRowType.Header, DataControlRowState.Normal); while (enumCels.MoveNext()) { string[] count = enumCels.Value.ToString().Split(Convert.ToChar(",")); TableCell cell = new TableCell(); cell.RowSpan = Convert.ToInt16(count[2].ToString()); cell.ColumnSpan = Convert.ToInt16(count[1].ToString()); cell.Controls.Add(new LiteralControl(count[0].ToString())); cell.HorizontalAlign = HorizontalAlign.Center; row.Cells.Add(cell); } e.Row.Parent.Controls.AddAt(0, row); } Then when I'm going to save, I loop through the rows: int totalRows = gvStatusReport.Rows.Count; for (int rowNumber = 0; rowNumber < totalRows; rowNumber++) { However the first line doesn't seem to have any of the columns that the item row has, and the last line doesn't even show up. My problem is that I do need the extra header line, but what is the best way to fix this?

  • Full Text Index type column is empty

    - by RemotecUk
I am trying to create an index on a VarBinary(max) field in my SQL Server 2008 database. The steps I am taking are as follows: Table: dbo.Records Right click on table and select "Full Text Index" Then select "Define Index..." I choose the primary key which is the PK of my table (field name Id, type UniqueIndentifier). I then get the screen with the options Available Columns, Language for Word Breaker and Type Column I select my VarBinary(max) field called Chart as the Available Column by ticking the box. I select "English" as the Language for Word Breaker field. Then... I try to select the Type Column but there are no entries in here. I cannot proceed by clicking "Next" until this column is populated. Why are there no entries in this column for selection and what should be in there? Note 1: The VarBinary(max) field is linked to a file group if that makes any difference. Note 2: Also noticed that in the table designer I cannot set the full text option on that same field to "Yes" - its permanently stuck on "No". Thanks.

  • Mapping composite foreign keys in a many-many relationship in Entity Framework

    - by Kirk Broadhurst
I have a Page table and a View table. There is a many-many relationship between these two via a PageView table. Unfortunately all of these tables need to have composite keys (for business reasons). Page has a primary key of (PageCode, Version), View has a primary key of (ViewCode, Version). PageView obviously enough has PageCode, ViewCode, and Version. The FK to Page is (PageCode, Version) and the FK to View is (ViewCode, Version) Makes sense and works, but when I try to map this in Entity framework I get Error 3021: Problem in mapping fragments...: Each of the following columns in table PageView is mapped to multiple conceptual side properties: PageView.Version is mapped to (PageView_Association.View.Version, PageView_Association.Page.Version) So clearly enough, EF is having a complain about the Version column being a common component of the two foreign keys. Obviously I could create a PageVersion and ViewVersion column in the join table, but that kind of defeats the point of the constraint, i.e. the Page and View must have the same Version value. Has anyone encountered this, and is there anything I can do get around it? Thanks!

  • GridView: How can I get rid of extra space from my GirdView object?

    - by Lajos Arpad
Hello, I'm writing an application for Android phones for Human vs. Human chess play over the internet. I was looking at some tutorials, to learn how to develop Android applications and found a very nice example of making galleries (it was a GridView usage example for making a gallery about dogs) and the idea came to draw the chess table using a GridView, because the example project also handled the point & click event and I intended to use the same event in the same way, but for a different purpose. The game works well (currently it's a hotseat version), however, I'm really frustrated by the fact that whenever I rotate the screen of the phone, my GridView gets hysterical and puts some empty space in my chess table between the columns. I realized that the cause of this is that the GridView's width is the same as its parent's and the GridView tries to fill its parent in with, but there should (and probably is) be a simple solution to get rid of this problem. However, after a full day of researching, I haven't found any clue to help me to make a perfect drawing about my chess table without a negative side effect in functionality. The chess table looks fine if the phone is in Portrait mode, but in Landscape mode it's far from nice. This is how I can decide whether we are in Portrait or Landscape mode: ((((MainActivity)mContext).getWindow().getWindowManager().getDefaultDisplay().getWidth()) < ((MainActivity)mContext).getWindow().getWindowManager().getDefaultDisplay().getHeight()) In the main.xml file the GridView is defined in the following way: <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" > <GridView xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/gridview" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:numColumns="8" android:verticalSpacing="0dp" android:horizontalSpacing="0dp" android:stretchMode="columnWidth" android:gravity="center" > </GridView> ... </LinearLayout> I appreciate any help with the problem and thank you for reading this.

  • C# and SQL - sub select from a table parameter

    - by Dr.HappyPants
    Below is a code snippet for passing a table as a parameter to a query that can be used in Sql Server 2008. I'm confused though about the "SELECT id.custid FROM @custids id". Why does it use id.custid and @custids id...? private static void datatable_example() { string [] custids = {"ALFKI", "BONAP", "CACTU", "FRANK"}; DataTable custid_list = new DataTable(); custid_list.Columns.Add("custid", typeof(String)); foreach (string custid in custids) { DataRow dr = custid_list.NewRow(); dr["custid"] = custid; custid_list.Rows.Add(dr); } using(SqlConnection cn = setup_connection()) { using(SqlCommand cmd = cn.CreateCommand()) { cmd.CommandText = @"SELECT C.CustomerID, C.CompanyName FROM Northwind.dbo.Customers C WHERE C.CustomerID IN (SELECT id.custid FROM @custids id)"; cmd.CommandType = CommandType.Text; cmd.Parameters.Add("@custids", SqlDbType.Structured); cmd.Parameters["@custids"].Direction = ParameterDirection.Input; cmd.Parameters["@custids"].TypeName = "custid_list_tbltype"; cmd.Parameters["@custids"].Value = custid_list; using (SqlDataAdapter da = new SqlDataAdapter(cmd)) using (DataSet ds = new DataSet()) { da.Fill(ds); PrintDataSet(ds); } } }

  • Nokogiri HttParty Xpath Ruby on Rails

    - by Brian
I am working with a mmorpg (Eve Online) request that returns xml. I am using httparty for the request and I am trying to use nokogiri to obtain attribute values for a specific element. Here's an example of the response: <eveapi version="2"><currentTime>2012-10-19 22:41:56</currentTime><result><rowset name="transactions" key="refID" columns="date,refID,refTypeID,ownerName1,ownerID1,ownerName2,ownerID2,argName1,argID1,amount,balance,reason,taxReceiverID,taxAmount"><row date="2012-10-18 23:41:50" refID="232323" refTypeID="9" ownerName1="University of Caille" ownerID1="32232" ownerName2="name" ownerID2="34343" argName1="" argID1="0" amount="5000.00" balance="5000.00" reason="Starter fund" taxReceiverID="" taxAmount=""/></rowset></result><cachedUntil>2012-10-19 23:03:40</cachedUntil></eveapi> I only need to access attributes for the element "row" and there can be many rows returned. I have read about xpath and from what I understand if I do the following it should return all rows: doc.xpath('row') however it does not return anything. Here's what I have so far: options = {:keyID => 111111, :vCode => 'fddfdfdfdf'} response = HTTParty.post('https://api.eveonline.com/char/WalletJournal.xml.aspx', :body => options) doc = Nokogiri::XML(response.body) doc.xpath('row').each do |r| end The loop is never executed. What am I doing wrong? I need to return all row elements and gain access to each of the row's attributes. Thanks.

  • How to prevent Hibernate from nullifying relationship column during entity removal

    - by Grzegorz
I have two entities, A and B. I need to easily retrieve entities A, joined with entities B on the condition of equal values of some column (some column from A equal to some column in B). Those columns are not primary or foreign keys, they contain same business data. I just need to have access from each instance of A to the collection of B's with the same value of this column. So I model it like this: class A { @OneToMany @JoinColumn(name="column_in_B", referencedColumnName="column_in_A") Collection<B> bs; This way, I can run queries like "select A join fetch a.bs b where b...." (Actually, the real relationship here is many-to-many. But when I use @ManyToMany, Hibernate forces me to use join table, which doesnt exist here. So I have to use @OneToMany as workaround). So far so good. The main problem is: whenever I delete an instance of A, hibernate calls "Update B set column_in_B = null", becuase it thinks the column_in_B is foreign key pointing at primary key in A (and because row in A is deleted, it tries to clean the foreign key in B). BUT the column_in_B IS NOT a foreign key, and can't be modified, because it causes data lost (and this column is NOT NULL anyway in my case, causing data integerity exception to be thrown). Plese help me with this. How to model such relationships with Hibernate? (I would call it "virtual relationships", or "secondary relationships" or so: as they are not based on foreign keys, they are just some shortcuts which allows for retrieving related objects and quering for them with HQL)

  • JPA @ManyToMany on only one side?

    - by Ethan Leroy
I am trying to refresh the @ManyToMany relation but it gets cleared instead... My Project class looks like this: @Entity public class Project { ... @ManyToMany(cascade = CascadeType.ALL, fetch = FetchType.EAGER) @JoinTable(name = "PROJECT_USER", joinColumns = @JoinColumn(name = "PROJECT_ID", referencedColumnName = "ID"), inverseJoinColumns = @JoinColumn(name = "USER_ID", referencedColumnName = "ID")) private Collection<User> users; ... } But I don't have - and I don't want - the collection of Projects in the User entity. When I look at the generated database tables, they look good. They contain all columns and constraints (primary/foreign keys). But when I persist a Project that has a list of Users (and the users are still in the database), the mapping table doesn't get updated gets updated but when I refresh the project afterwards, the list of Users is cleared. For better understanding: Project project = ...; // new project with users that are available in the db System.out.println(project getUsers().size()); // prints 5 em.persist(project); System.out.println(project getUsers().size()); // prints 5 em.refresh(project); System.out.println(project getUsers().size()); // prints 0 So, how can I refresh the relation between User and Project?

  • How can I stop SQL Server Management Studio replacing 'SELECT *' with the column list ?

    - by Ben McIntyre
SQL Server Mgmt Studio is driving me crazy. If I create a view and SELECT '*' from a table, it's all OK and I can save the view. Looking at the SQL for the view (eg.by scripting a CREATE) reveals that the 'SELECT *' really is saved to the view's SQL. But as soon as I reopen the view using the GUI (right click modify), SELECT * is replaced with a column list of all the columns in the table. How can I stop Management Studio from doing this ? I want my 'SELECT *' to remain just that. Perhaps it's just the difficulty of googling 'SELECT *' that prevented me from finding anything remotely relevant to this (i did put it in double quotes). Please, I am highly experienced in Transact-SQL, so please DON'T give me a lecture on why I shouldn't be using SELECT *. I know all the pros and cons and I do use it at times. It's a language feature, and like all language features can be used for good or evil (I emphatically do NOT agree that it is never appropriate to use it). Edit: I'm giving Marc the answer, since it seems it is not possible to turn this behaviour off. Problem is considered closed. I note that Enterprise Manager did no similar thing. The workaround is to either edit SQL as text, or go to a product other than Managment Studio. Or constantly edit out the column list and replace the * every time you edit a view. Sigh.

  • Excel VBA SQL Import

    - by user307655
Hi All, I have the following code which imports data from a spreadsheet to SQL directly from Excel VBA. The code works great. However I am wondering if somebody can help me modify the code to: 1) Check if data from column A already exists in the SQL Table 2) If exists, then only update rather than import as a new role 3) if does not exist then import as a new role. Thanks again for your help Sub SQLIM() ' Send data to SQL Server ' This code loads data from an Excel Worksheet to an SQL Server Table ' Data should start in column A and should be in the same order as the server table ' Autonumber fields should NOT be included' ' FOR THIS CODE TO WORK ' In VBE you need to go Tools References and check Microsoft Active X Data Objects 2.x library Dim Cn As ADODB.Connection Dim ServerName As String Dim DatabaseName As String Dim TableName As String Dim UserID As String Dim Password As String Dim rs As ADODB.Recordset Dim RowCounter As Long Dim ColCounter As Integer Dim NoOfFields As Integer Dim StartRow As Long Dim EndRow As Long Dim shtSheetToWork As Worksheet Set shtSheetToWork = ActiveWorkbook.Worksheets("Sheet1") Set rs = New ADODB.Recordset ServerName = "WIN764X\sqlexpress" ' Enter your server name here DatabaseName = "two28it" ' Enter your database name here TableName = "COS" ' Enter your Table name here UserID = "" ' Enter your user ID here ' (Leave ID and Password blank if using windows Authentification") Password = "" ' Enter your password here NoOfFields = 7 ' Enter number of fields to update (eg. columns in your worksheet) StartRow = 2 ' Enter row in sheet to start reading records EndRow = shtSheetToWork.Cells(Rows.Count, 1).End(xlUp).Row ' Enter row of last record in sheet ' CHANGES ' Dim shtSheetToWork As Worksheet ' Set shtSheetToWork = ActiveWorkbook.Worksheets("Sheet1") '** Set Cn = New ADODB.Connection Cn.Open "Driver={SQL Server};Server=" & ServerName & ";Database=" & DatabaseName & _ ";Uid=" & UserID & ";Pwd=" & Password & ";" rs.Open TableName, Cn, adOpenKeyset, adLockOptimistic For RowCounter = StartRow To EndRow rs.AddNew For ColCounter = 1 To NoOfFields rs(ColCounter - 1) = shtSheetToWork.Cells(RowCounter, ColCounter) Next ColCounter Next RowCounter rs.UpdateBatch ' Tidy up rs.Close Set rs = Nothing Cn.Close Set Cn = Nothing End Sub

  • SqlBulkCopy slow as molasses

    - by Chris
I'm looking for the fastest way to load bulk data via c#. I have this script that does the job but slow. I read testimonies that SqlBulkCopy is the fastest. 1000 records 2.5 seconds. files contain anywhere near 5000 records to 250k What are some of the things that can slow it down? • Rails 1.0 - Using composed_of gives me a wrong number of arguments (1 for 5) error

    - by Tristan Havelick
    I am developing a Rails 1.0 application (I can't upgrade, it's a strange situation) for which I am trying to use the :composed_of functionality. I have a class called StreetAddress: class StreetAddress attr_reader :address, :address2, :city, :state_id, :zip_code def initialize(address, address2, city, state_id, zip_code) @address = address @address2 = address2 @city = city @state_id = state_id @zip_code = zip_code end end and a model class called Hotel class Hotel < ActiveRecord::Base composed_of :street_address # ... end which has columns: "id", "brand_id", "code", "location_name", "address", "address2", "city", "state_id", "zip_code", "phone_number", "phone_ext", "fax_number", "time_zone", "url", "room_service_email", "manager_name", "manager_email" However when I try to access the aggregation I get an error: >> h = Hotel.find(1) => #<Hotel:0x38ad718 @attributes={"fax_number"=>"1-623-420-0124", "city"=>"Twin Falls", "address2"=>"285", "brand_id"=>"1", "code"=>"XZWUXUSZ", "manager_email"= >"[email protected]", "url"=>"http://www.xycdkzolukfvu.hom", "ph one_number"=>"1-805-706-9995", "zip_code"=>"72436", "phone_ext"=>"48060", "id"=> "1", "manager_name"=>"Igor Mcdowell", "room_service_email"=>"Duis.risus@Donecvit ae.ca", "time_zone"=>"America/Boise", "state_id"=>"15", "address"=>"P.O.   • Finding column index using jQuery when table contains column-spanning cells

    - by Brant Bobby
    Using jQuery, how can I find the column index of an arbitrary table cell in the example table below, such that cells spanning multiple columns have multiple indexes? HTML <table> <tbody> <tr> <td>One</td> <td>Two</td> <td id="example1">Three</td> <td>Four</td> <td>Five</td> <td>Six</td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2">One</td> <td colspan="2">Two</td> <td colspan="2" id="example2">Three</td> </tr> <tr> <td>One</td> <td>Two</td> <td>Three</td> <td>Four</td> <td>Five</td> <td>Six</td> </tr> </tbody> </table> jQuery var cell = $("#example1"); var example1ColIndex = cell.parent("tr").children().index(cell); // == 2. This is fine. cell = $("#example2"); var example2ColumnIndex = cell.parent("tr").children().index(cell); // == 2. It should be 4 (or 5, but I only need the lowest). How can I do this?

  • C# HTML tags inside GridView

    - by Geo Ego
I have a SharePoint web part that I wrote in C# which is used to display SQL Server data based on user selections. I pull the data with a DataReader, fill a DataSet with it, and set that DataSet as the DataSource in a GridView and add that control to my page. The only problem I'm facing is that line breaks in the data fields are not being rendered at all. I'm simply getting a block of text that ignores the breaks that are present in the database when it's rendered to HTML. I tried a regex: Regex rgx = new Regex("\n"); string inputStr = Convert.ToString(dr[x]); string outputStr = rgx.Replace(inputStr, "<br />"); newRow[ds3.Tables["Bobst Specs 3"].Columns[x]] = outputStr; While that does detect and replace the newlines, I merely get the text "" with no line breaks. I also tried changing my SQL query to something along the lines of: SELECT REPLACE (fldCustomerName, '. ', '.' + @NewLineChar) This apparently renders more newlines. I can see that they are present, because if I also insert the regex they are affected, but do not create line breaks. I'm not sure how to replace these, and what with, to get the lines to actually break.

  • Alter Table Filestream runs even if IF statement is false

    - by Allison
I am writing a script to update a database to add Filestream capability. The script needs to be able to be run multiple times without erroring. This is what I currently have IF ((select count(*) from sys.columns a inner join sys.objects b on a.object_id = b.object_id inner join sys.default_constraints c on c.parent_object_id = a.object_id where a.name = 'evidence_data' and b.name='evidence' and c.name='DF__evidence_evidence_data') = 0) begin ALTER TABLE evidence SET ( FILESTREAM_ON = AnalysisFSGroup ) ALTER TABLE evidence ALTER COLUMN id ADD ROWGUIDCOL; end GO The first time I run this against the database it works fine. The second time when the if statement should be false it throws an error saying "Cannot add FILESTREAM filegroup or partition scheme since table 'evidence' has a FILESTREAM filegroup or partition scheme already." If I put a simple select into the if statement and take out the alter table filestream on line it functions correctly and does not perform the if statement. So esentially it is always running the alter table filestream on statement even if the if statement is false. Any thoughts or suggestions would be great. Thanks.

  • Number of ways to place kings on chess board

    - by Rakesh
You have an N x N chessboard and you wish to place N kings on it. Each row and column should contain exactly one king, and no two kings should attack each other (two kings attack each other if they are present in squares which share a corner). The kings in the first K rows of the board have already been placed. You are given the positions of these kings as an array pos[ ]. pos[i] is the column in which the king in the ith row has already been placed. All indices are 0-indexed. In how many ways can the remaining kings be placed? Input: The first line contains the number of test cases T. T test cases follow. Each test case contains N and K on the first line, followed by a line having K integers, denoting the array pos[ ] as described above. Output: Output the number of ways to place kings in the remaining rows satisfying the above conditions. Output all numbers modulo 1000000007. Constraints: 1 <= T <= 20 1 <= N <= 16 0 <= K <= N 0 <= pos_i < N The kings specified in the input will be in different columns and not attack each other. Sample Input: 5 4 1 2 3 0 5 2 1 3 4 4 1 3 0 2 6 1 2 Sample Output: 1 0 2 1 18 Explanation: For the first example, there is a king already placed at row 0 and column 2. The king in the second row must belong to column 0. The king in the third row must belong to column 3, and the last king must beong to column 1. Thus there is only 1 valid placement. For the second example, there is no valid placement. How should i approach this problem

  • How can I work around SQL Server - Inline Table Value Function execution plan variation based on par

    - by Ovidiu Pacurar
Here is the situation: I have a table value function with a datetime parameter ,lest's say tdf(p_date) , that filters about two million rows selecting those with column date smaller than p_date and computes some aggregate values on other columns. It works great but if p_date is a custom scalar value function (returning the end of day in my case) the execution plan is altered an the query goes from 1 sec to 1 minute execution time. A proof of concept table - 1K products, 2M rows: CREATE TABLE [dbo].[POC]( [Date] [datetime] NOT NULL, [idProduct] [int] NOT NULL, [Quantity] [int] NOT NULL ) ON [PRIMARY] The inline table value function: CREATE FUNCTION tdf (@p_date datetime) RETURNS TABLE AS RETURN ( SELECT idProduct, SUM(Quantity) AS TotalQuantity, max(Date) as LastDate FROM POC WHERE (Date < @p_date) GROUP BY idProduct ) The scalar value function: CREATE FUNCTION [dbo].[EndOfDay] (@date datetime) RETURNS datetime AS BEGIN DECLARE @res datetime SET @res=dateadd(second, -1, dateadd(day, 1, dateadd(ms, -datepart(ms, @date), dateadd(ss, -datepart(ss, @date), dateadd(mi,- datepart(mi,@date), dateadd(hh, -datepart(hh, @date), @date)))))) RETURN @res END Query 1 - Working great SELECT * FROM [dbo].[tdf] (getdate()) The end of execution plan: Stream Aggregate Cost 13% <--- Clustered Index Scan Cost 86% Query 2 - Not so great SELECT * FROM [dbo].[tdf] (dbo.EndOfDay(getdate())) The end of execution plan: Stream Aggregate Cost 4% <--- Filter Cost 12% <--- Clustered Index Scan Cost 86%
