  The validations I know of are: Checksum the whole card number should add up to zero. (range is 0-9) Check the first digit(s) against the card type Check the length against the card type Check the CCV length against the card type (I think all the major types are 3 anyway) Of course make sure it is accepted card type as well as non expired. Are there any other validations :) (I expect many folks did not know about all of these) The reason I ask is because I overheard there was one to checksum number against expiration or CCV.. I just wanted to check.

• sql server db deployment script ignoring constraints etc until commit

  Hi all, I am planning on doing a database deployment script for sql server 2005. Currently we have a tool that will run all of the tables, foreign keys, indexes and then data, each of which is located in a separate file with a certain extension (eg. tab, .kci, .fky) and the tool just runs *.tab, *.kci, *.fky into the db etc. Could I possibly combine all of thse into one file and have them run ignoring referential integrity until they are all complete, I would turn it on before we started inserting test data. It is just unmanageable having to maintain 4 or 5 different types of scripts for one table. Are there any issues I should be aware of? Cheers

• Representing parent-child relationships in SharePoint lists

  I need to create some functionality in our SharePoint app that populates a list or lists with some simple hierarchical data. Each parent record will represent a "submission" and each child record will be a "submission item." There's a 1-to-n relationship between submissions and submission items. Is this practical to do in SharePoint? The only types of list relationships I've done so far are lookup columns, but this seems a bit different. Also, once such a list relationship is established, then what's the best way to create views on this kind of data. I'm almost convinced that it'd be easier just to write this stuff to an external database, but I'd like to give SharePoint a shot in order to take advantage of the automated search capabilities.

Standard project types will be added to the platform by default. The project type defines the way in which the different software will be executed and their input and output files. The user can customize the available standard project type and that will be added to the platform as new project type which defines new custom execution flow. Also it should support easy extension and customization of the features. I read that plug-in based architecture supports both. What are the advantages and disadvantages of plug-in based architecture?   I need little help with transferring data from variables, arrays, lists to my SQL Server. Im not bad in SQL, but im not familiar with DataSet, DataTable objects. My data is now stored in list of strings (List). Every string in that list looks similar to this: QWERTY,19920604,0.91,0.35,0.34,0.35,343840 There are about 900000 rows like this. Target datatypes in SQL Server: BIGINT (primary key, im not inserting it, its identity(1,1)) VARCHAR(10), DATE, DECIMAL(10,2), DECIMAL(10,2), DECIMAL(10,2), DECIMAL(10,2), INT How to convert that data to SQL Server data types? How to insert that data into SQL Server? Also i need some progress bar updates between inserts. I could do this using old-fashion SQL command, but i have learn more modern way :)

  I have a program I want to profile with gprof. The problem (seemingly) is that it uses sockets. So I get things like this: ::select(): Interrupted system call I hit this problem a while back, gave up, and moved on. But I would really like to be able to profile my code, using gprof if possible. What can I do? Is there a gprof option I'm missing? A socket option? Is gprof totally useless in the presence of these types of system calls? If so, is there a viable alternative? • How do I validate that my the openid.op_endpoint when a request is completed.

  I have an Open ID based authentication system on my site. Occasionally users will have an account registered under [email protected] and they will attempt to login using the google open id provider https://www.google.com/accounts/o8/id, in this case I would like to automatically associate the account and log them in. When the process is done I get a payload from somewhere claiming that openid.op_endpoint=https://www.google.com/accounts/o8/id. My question: Can I trust openid.op_endpoint to be correct? Can this be spoofed somehow by a malicious openid provider? For illustration, lets say someone types in http://evil.org as their openid provider, can I somehow end up getting a request back that claims openid.op_endpoint is google? Do I need to store extra information against the nonce to validate? The spec is kind of tricky to understand

  I have written a simple network program on java using sockets. Program has a client and a server. When user types a word on client side, server simply return this word to client. On server side I use Serversocket and bind it to port 4444. Why does not firewall block this connection on my server PC? I ask this question because earlier I wrote this program using corba technology, and firewall on my server PC was blocking the connection to this port; when I disabled the firewall the program worked fine.

  hi. I want to make a user interface in which the user can edit two objects at the same time. The main window would have a vertical split view and a form on each side of the view. The problem is that the two forms are identical and I don't want to duplicate the view components in the interface builder. I want to create the form one time and add a reference to it in each side of the split view, each one using a different object source. I could use a NSForm, but the form is not a simple grid of outputTexts and inputText. They have a master table, and diverse kinds of inputs types, like combos, in the detail. How do I create the reusable form using the interface builder? Or how can I do it programmatically? Do I have to create a subclass of NSView and add the individual components in the code? The API documentation is generalized to all platforms. Where are the iPhone specific requirements for arguments and their data types? I did, however, gather the information I needed by piecing together forum information, Facebook sample code, and some glue.   Suppose I'm writing a function that takes a list of integers and returns only those integers in the list that are less than 5.2. I might do something like this: belowThreshold = filter (< 5.2) Easy enough, right? But now I want to constrain this function to only work with input lists of type [Int] for design reasons of my own. This seems like a reasonable request. Alas, no. A declaration that constraints the types as so: belowThreshold :: [Integer] -> [Integer] belowThreshold = filter (< 5.2) Causes a type error. So what's the story here? Why does doing filter (< 5.2) seem to convert my input list into Doubles? How can I make a version of this function that only accepts integer lists and only returns integer lists? Why does the type system hate me?

• Why does the Scala compiler disallow overloaded methods with default arguments?

  While there might be valid cases where such method overloadings could become ambiguous, why does the compiler disallow code which is neither ambiguous at compile time nor at run time?   In Visual Studio 2008 project properties, Application tab, I can set the Output type to Windows Application, Console Application, or Class Library. I have a project that I want to build as a stand-alone tool (console app) and be available to a couple other tools I'm working on as a class library. The VS GUI only lets me choose one or the other, and building the proj twice all the time is inconvenient. How can I set it up to build both output types in a single build job? If not, what part of the code is creating the issue? I've set return types/values for eventData class methods Is there a workaround for the Gson Unit issue? Thanks!

• Forming a SOAP request message through WSDL

  I'm very new to webservices. I'm trying to figure out how I can formulate a request message (and determine what the response message) would be based on the wsdl description that I have. This is from a third party web service. The WSDL description that I have access to gives me a bunch of information like <types> <message> <operation> etc. But in the examples that I've seen online, it's showing the request mesage within the "soap:envelope" tag. What am I missing? Eventually I'd like to be able to call this webservice using JQuery. But I can't even figure out how to formulate the request message let alone make an ajax call to it. any help would be appreciated.

I have a hierarchy of classes for the different types of projects: class AbstractProject { }; class ProjectA : public AbstractProject { }; class ProjectB : public AbstractProject { }; class ProjectC : public AbstractProject { }; Now, I was planning to have an AbstractProject *_currentProject pointer as a member in the application's main class, pop up a dialog box on startup and based on the selection, do: _currentProject = new ProjectB(); // e.g. Later, I'll have to downcast the pointer to the specific type to utilize the functionality specific to different Project-s. Somehow this makes me feel uneasy. Is there a Better Way of doing this?

• Cleanest way to store lists of filter coefficients in a C header

  I have many (~100 or so) filter coefficients calculated with the aid of some Matlab and Excel that I want to dump into a C header file for general use, but I'm not sure what the best way to do this would be. I was starting out as so: #define BUTTER 1 #define BESSEL 2 #define CHEBY 3 #if FILT_TYPE == BUTTER #if FILT_ROLLOFF == 0.010 #define B0 256 #define B1 512 #define B2 256 #define A1 467 #define A2 -214 #elif FILT_ROLLOFF == 0.015 #define B0 256 #define B1 512 // and so on... However, if I do that and shove them all into a header, I need to set the conditionals (FILT_TYPE, FILT_ROLLOFF) in my source before including it, which seems kinda nasty. What's more, if I have 2+ different filters that want different roll-offs/filter types it won't work. I could #undef my 5 coefficients (A1-2, B0-2) in that coefficients file, but it still seems wrong to have to insert an #include buried in code.
