  • Unable to resolve class in build.gradle using Android Studio 0.60/Gradle 0.11

    - by saywhatnow
    Established app working fine using Android Studio 0.5.9/ Gradle 0.9 but upgrading to Android Studio 0.6.0/ Gradle 0.11 causes the error below. Somehow Studio seems to have lost the ability to resolve the android tools import at the top of the build.gradle file. Anyone got any ideas on how to solve this? build file 'Users/[me]/Repositories/[project]/[module]/build.gradle': 1: unable to resolve class com.android.builder.DefaultManifestParser @ line 1, column 1. import com.android.builder.DefaultManifestParser 1 error at org.codehaus.groovy.control.ErrorCollector.failIfErrors(ErrorCollector.java:302) at org.codehaus.groovy.control.CompilationUnit.applyToSourceUnits(CompilationUnit.java:858) at org.codehaus.groovy.control.CompilationUnit.doPhaseOperation(CompilationUnit.java:548) at org.codehaus.groovy.control.CompilationUnit.compile(CompilationUnit.java:497) at groovy.lang.GroovyClassLoader.doParseClass(GroovyClassLoader.java:306) at groovy.lang.GroovyClassLoader.parseClass(GroovyClassLoader.java:287) at org.gradle.groovy.scripts.internal.DefaultScriptCompilationHandler.compileScript(DefaultScriptCompilationHandler.java:115) ... 77 more 2014-06-09 10:15:28,537 [ 92905] INFO - .BaseProjectImportErrorHandler - Failed to import Gradle project at '/Users/[me]/Repositories/[project]' org.gradle.tooling.BuildException: Could not run build action using Gradle distribution 'http://services.gradle.org/distributions/gradle-1.12-all.zip'. at org.gradle.tooling.internal.consumer.ResultHandlerAdapter.onFailure(ResultHandlerAdapter.java:53) at org.gradle.tooling.internal.consumer.async.DefaultAsyncConsumerActionExecutor$1$1.run(DefaultAsyncConsumerActionExecutor.java:57) at org.gradle.internal.concurrent.DefaultExecutorFactory$StoppableExecutorImpl$1.run(DefaultExecutorFactory.java:64) [project]/[module]/build.gradle import com.android.builder.DefaultManifestParser apply plugin: 'android-sdk-manager' apply plugin: 'android' android { sourceSets { main { manifest.srcFile 'src/main/AndroidManifest.xml' res.srcDirs = ['src/main/res'] } debug { res.srcDirs = ['src/debug/res'] } release { res.srcDirs = ['src/release/res'] } } compileSdkVersion 19 buildToolsVersion '19.0.0' defaultConfig { minSdkVersion 14 targetSdkVersion 19 } signingConfigs { release } buildTypes { release { runProguard false proguardFiles getDefaultProguardFile('proguard-android.txt'), 'proguard-rules.txt' signingConfig signingConfigs.release applicationVariants.all { variant -> def file = variant.outputFile def manifestParser = new DefaultManifestParser() def wmgVersionCode = manifestParser.getVersionCode(android.sourceSets.main.manifest.srcFile) println wmgVersionCode variant.outputFile = new File(file.parent, file.name.replace("-release.apk", "_" + wmgVersionCode + ".apk")) } } } packagingOptions { exclude 'META-INF/LICENSE.txt' exclude 'META-INF/NOTICE.txt' } } def Properties props = new Properties() def propFile = file('signing.properties') if (propFile.canRead()){ props.load(new FileInputStream(propFile)) if (props!=null && props.containsKey('STORE_FILE') && props.containsKey('STORE_PASSWORD') && props.containsKey('KEY_ALIAS') && props.containsKey('KEY_PASSWORD')) { println 'RELEASE BUILD SIGNING' android.signingConfigs.release.storeFile = file(props['STORE_FILE']) android.signingConfigs.release.storePassword = props['STORE_PASSWORD'] android.signingConfigs.release.keyAlias = props['KEY_ALIAS'] android.signingConfigs.release.keyPassword = props['KEY_PASSWORD'] } else { println 'RELEASE BUILD NOT FOUND SIGNING PROPERTIES' android.buildTypes.release.signingConfig = null } }else { println 'RELEASE BUILD NOT FOUND SIGNING FILE' android.buildTypes.release.signingConfig = null } repositories { maven { url 'https://repo.commonsware.com.s3.amazonaws.com' } maven { url 'https://oss.sonatype.org/content/repositories/snapshots/' } } dependencies { compile 'com.github.gabrielemariotti.changeloglib:library:1.4.+' compile 'com.google.code.gson:gson:2.2.4' compile 'com.google.android.gms:play-services:+' compile 'com.android.support:appcompat-v7:+' compile 'com.squareup.okhttp:okhttp:1.5.+' compile 'com.octo.android.robospice:robospice:1.4.11' compile 'com.octo.android.robospice:robospice-cache:1.4.11' compile 'com.octo.android.robospice:robospice-retrofit:1.4.11' compile 'com.commonsware.cwac:security:0.1.+' compile 'com.readystatesoftware.sqliteasset:sqliteassethelper:+' compile 'com.android.support:support-v4:19.+' compile 'uk.co.androidalliance:edgeeffectoverride:1.0.1+' compile 'de.greenrobot:eventbus:2.2.1+' compile project(':captureActivity') compile ('de.keyboardsurfer.android.widget:crouton:1.8.+') { exclude group: 'com.google.android', module: 'support-v4' } compile files('libs/CWAC-LoaderEx.jar') }

  • Visual Studio unable to open Web site error

    - by Jan-Frederik Carl
Hello, I work with Visual Studio 2008 and work on a web project which contains a web site. When opening the solution file, I receive the error message: "Unable to open the Web site http://localhost/myWebsite.de. The Web site http://localhost/myWebsite.de does not exist." I can see the web site greyed out, with the remark "unavailable", in the solution folder. It is possible to add the web site to the solution, but after relaunching Visual Studio, it´s gone again. Has anyone had this problem in a similar way?

  • Visual Studio DataSet Designer Refresh Tables

    - by LnDCobra
In visual studio datasource designer(The screen where you have all the UML Diagrams including relations) is there any way to refresh a table and its relations/foreign key constraints without refreshing the whole table? The way I am doing it at the moment is removing the table and adding it again. This adds all the relations and refreshes all fields. Also if I change a fields data type, is there a way to automatically refresh all the fields in the datasource? Again without deleting the table and adding it again. Reason for this is because some of my TableAdapters have quite a number of complex queries attached to them and when I remove the table the adapter gets removed as well including all its queries. I am using Visual Studio 2008 and connecting to a MySQL database.

  • Having the output of a Console App in Visual Studio instead of the Console

    - by devoured elysium
When doing "Console" apps in Java with Eclipse, I see the output being put in a text box on the IDE itself, instead of having a Console popping up like in Visual Studio. This comes in handy, as even after the program has exited, I can still make good use of the text that was written in it, as it doesn't get erased until I run it again. Is it possible to achieve anything like that with Visual Studio? I know that instead of doing System.Console.WriteLine(str); I can do System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine(str); but it is not quite the same thing, as you get a lot of "junk" in the Output window, as all the loaded symbols and such. Even better, is it possible to have everything done in the IDE itself, when you run your app, instead of having the Console running? Thanks

  • TFS 2010 build config transform problem

    - by Zdenek
Hi all, I'm facing quite a problem while setting up automated TFS Builds. Basically I created new configuration called Tests, added transform config, defined different connection strings for the Database. Then defined TFS build, building whole solution with MSBuild arguments /p:DeployOnBuild=True /p:Configuration=Tests. The problem is that in the drop location (Build_PublishedWebsites\Project) I get web.config, web.debug.config, web.release.config and web.tests.config, however I would expect just one transformed web.config. I already checked PDC presentation Web Deployment Painkillers: Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 & MS Deploy but didn't help. Thanks for any answer.

  • Spark VS 2010 intellisense

    - by mare
I was thinking about switching one of my projects (and after that subsequently other projects too) to Spark View Engine but after todays research I ran into problem of a lack of Intellisense for Visual studio 2010. Not only that but it seems that the project is not maintained regularly. So I'm left with a feeling that I should not choose Spark at this time yet. However, apparently NHaml has the same "issues" too. I know it is discussed in more detail here http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1451319/asp-net-mvc-view-engine-comparison but I would still like you thoughts on what to choose or just stay with WebForms view engine for now?

  • profiling WCF services with visual studio profiler

    - by ashish.s
I am trying to profile a WCF service using visual studio profiler. So i created a profile by choosing asp.net application, and gave it the url of the web service. When i launch the session, it launches a web page to the site. I then run my unit test using another visual studio client, but the test always fails with with communication exception, and the process that performance analyze is attached to exits out. if i run the test again, it attached the process again, but the tests still fails with communication exception. This is throwing my report off since its only accounting for the startup work that the application is supposed to do. can someone point out what i am doing wrong ?

  • Creating a Wiki site in SharePoint 2010

    - by Ben
I have a SharePoint 2010 site set up and would like to add a Wiki site to it. Normally, to add a subsite to a parent site you would click "Site Actions" - "New Site" and choose the site type (e.g. Team Site) and it would work fine. In the case of adding a Wiki site, I choose "Enterprise Wiki", and get "Error An Unexpected Error has occured Correlation Id:...". So i took the CorrelationId and checked in the ULS files to see what the error is, and the first bad sign seems to be: SharePoint Foundation Feature Infrastructure " The element of type 'ContentTypeBinding' for feature 'EnterpriseWiki' (id: 76d688ad-c16e-4cec-9b71-7b7f0d79b9cd) threw an exception during activation: Specified argument was out of the range of valid values. There are more errors in the log, but this seems to be the first one. Any ideas on whats going on? Thanks

  • How to automaticaly backup TFS 2010

    - by Julien Ferraro
Hello, I'm evaluating Team Foundation Server 2010. I would like to know if there is some command line to backup my TFS data. I currently have a folder sent to the cloud. This backup contains all the data I need to back up (like MySql databases, word documents, ...) What I want is a way to automatically backup my TFS collections (and any other important TFS data) in one (or more) file in this directory. A command line would be perfect. Many thanks Julien

  • Delphi 2010 buttons losing click event

    - by Lobuno
I've been experimenting a quite strange problem using Delphi 2010. In one form (a quite complex one) some buttons are automagically losing the click event. I am not dynamically assigning the event or something (they are wired in IDE). The events are fired OK some times but suddenly (and randomly) some of them don't fire the events anymore. Placing a break point in the event doesn't stop the execution. Weird, yes, and I'm lost. I know there is no explanation for this so I only want to ask if there is anybody else experimenting the same problem.

  • Delphi 2010 Wide functions vs. String functions

    - by Mick
We're currently converting a Delphi 2007 project to Delphi 2010. We were already using Unicode (via WideStrings and TNT Unicode Controls). I was expecting to replace all Wide functions, e.g. WideUpperCase, with their equivalent, e.g. UpperCase, but they do not work the same way. For example, WideUpperCase works differently from UpperCase. WideUpperCase correctly uppercases Campañas, but UpperCase leaves the ñ in lower case. Are there any other differences that I should be aware of? e.g. do WideFormat and Format work the same? Thanks

  • Zend Studio Intellisense + zend Framework

    - by Ilya Biryukov
Hi. I've got a very annoying problem with my Zend studio. I have a zend framework project I am working on. The actual zend framework code is inside my project (in library folder) and then ZS seems to reference to its own version of zend framework. As the result, I get 2 versions of the same function/class in my intellisense which is annoying to say the least. Today I had the last drop of patience with zend studio when I showed 4 copies of the same class (imagine what's its like looking at a large namespace times 4!). So, how do I remove all references inside ZS to its own version of ZF? Thanks!

  • Visual Studio reference x64 GAC

    - by icelava
How can one get Visual Studio 2005/2008 to reference assemblies in the 64-bit GAC instead of the 32-bit GAC? We are settin the target platfom to x64 and the compiler is throwing the error of Error 2 Warning as Error: Assembly generation -- Referenced assembly 'System.Data.dll' targets a different processor Common Error 3 Warning as Error: Assembly generation -- Referenced assembly 'mscorlib.dll' targets a different processor Common Error 4 Assembly signing failed; output may not be signed -- The system cannot find the file specified. Common Update 29 Dec 08 Been trying out Aaron Stebner's suggestions to place 64-bit assemblies onto an isolated location (e.g. C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\GAC_64) and creating additional entries in the registry like HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft.NETFramework\AssemblyFolders\GAC_64 or HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft.NETFramework\v2.0.50727\AssemblyFoldersEx\GAC_64 but Visual Studio 2005 is still not picking it up....

  • Visual Basic 2010: How to make window/form become active foreground?

    - by hervard
I'm using Visual Basic 2010 Express. I have a form that can be minimized. There's also a tray icon. I've coded it so that if you double-click on the tray icon, the form's FormWindowState becomes set to Normal; this restores the form to where it to where it was before it became minimized, but the form does not become the active window on my desktop. How can I make the form become the active most foreground window? I've tried various functions that I can think of but no luck yet. Tried searching with various queries to try and find the right wording but no luck. I'm new to Visual Basic - only started a couple hours ago. Probably something simple but I can't seem to find the correct function or anything... Please enlighten me! Thanks.

  • deleting registry key, using Visual Studio 2008 setup and deployment project in windows 7

    - by Isuru
I have created a setup and deployment project in Visual Studio 2008 Professional. I'm using Visual C++, and in it I have two exe files which run under custom actions. One is running in commit and other in uninstall. Purpose is to add a registry key at install time and remove it at uninstall. It works perfectly on Windows XP but when I change to Windows 7 and run the setup, only the key-adding part works. The key doesn't get deleted at uninstall. But when I take the uninstall exe file out from the setup and run it separately on Windows 7, (not through the setup, by just double-clicking on the exe) it removes the registry entry perfectly. Any idea what the problem is?

  • Visual Studio: How to protect file from removal on uninstall

    - by raj.tiwari
Folks, I am creating an installer project in Visual Studio. This is done using a project of type "Setup and Deployment". I lay out the file structure of my final install in the "File System" View of the project. Now, some of the files I create as part of my install are updated while my application is used. I would like these files to not be removed during an uninstall of my application. Is there any way in Visual Studio to designate a file as "protected from uninstall"? Thanks for your help.

  • Breakpoints are ignored when debugging in Visual Studio 2008 on 64-bit system

    - by Arnold Zokas
I'm trying to debug an ASP.NET web application in this environment: Windows Server Standard 2008 SP2 x64 Single-core CPU 4GB RAM Visual Studio 2008 with Remote Debugger SP1 .NET 3.5 Web Application running in IIS in 64-bit mode The code I am trying to debug is a simple event handler with some basic sequential code. What I observe is that breakpoints get randomly ignored and VS often exits debug mode when I try to step through the code. The code is compiled in debug mode. I've tried all the usual steps: iisreset, reboot VM, rebuild solution, reinstall Visual Studio. Any ideas?

  • "Go To Definition" in Visual Studio only brings up the Metadata

    - by pfunk
I am working in a Web Project in Visual Studio 2008. When I hit F12 (or right-click and select Go To Definition) Visual Studio is consistently going to the Meta data file instead of going to the source. Some Points: All the source code is C#, there is no VB.Net All the projects are in the same solution Yes, everything is a project reference (checked and double-checked) I have tried the Clean/Rebuild Solution approach (even to the point of clearing out the Temp directory, Temporary ASP.NET Files directory, etc). Has anyone else seen this behavior and/or know how to fix it?

  • vs 2010 Deployment without Web Deploy

    - by dritterweg
with vs 2008 I always used Web Deployment Project to build to three different environments. It is maybe not the best solution, since I still have to xcopy the built files to the server, but it is simple. now with vs 2010 it looks promising, but It looks also complicated. My hosting doesn't have Web Deploy, the newest feature and the flagship technology for deployment in vs2010. My question how can I just build for each environment and copy the files over to the server. Using the Build Deployment Package will create the zip file and when I extract it, it will output so many files and confusing folder structure. Anyone has suggestion?

  • SQL Server 2008 Express doesn't see my Visual Studio 2008 Team System's SP1

    - by Kamilos
Hi, I want to install SQL Server 2008 express. I have already Visual Studio 2008 Team System with SP1. VS in help about shows me: MVS version: 9.0.30729.1 SP .NET Framework version: 3.5 SP1 but installator of SQL Server shows me that Visual Studio doesn't have SP1. Anyway I tricked up him by change in win registry HKLM Software Microsoft DevDiv VS Servicing 9.0 IDE 1033 value from RTM on SP1 and instalation runs. But during instalation error was occured about SP1 again. SQL Server was installed without SQL Managment. When I try install it I have allways the same error about SP1. I was install SP1 couple times with success but it does nothing. I was instal SQL Server SP1 also but it does nothing. Reinstall of VS 2008 and SP1 does nothing. What can I do? Thanks for any help, Kamilos

  • Visual Studio does not flag unterminated string constant in VB.Net

    - by JoelFan
I noticed that if I leave off the terminating double quote for a string constant in Visual Studio 2010, there is no error or even a warning, i.e. Dim foo as String = "hi However, the continuous integration tool we are using flags an error: error BC30648: String constants must end with a double quote. What's going on here? Is there some language rule in VB.NET that makes a terminating double quote optional "sometimes"? Is there some setting in Visual Studio that will make it flag this as an error?

  • How to connect to SqlExpress for Entity Framework using Visual Studio 2010 Express?

    - by Mike
Hi everyone, I'm trying to use the Visual Studio 2010 Express editions to set up an ASP.NET MVC 2 Web Application using SqlExpress + Entity Framework as the data access. I have both the "C# Edition" and "Web Developer Edition" installed. If I try to add a data source using the "C# edition", I'm missing the "Microsoft SQL Server" data source type. but Visual Studio 2008 Professional has it. as noted by another StackOverflow question, the "Web Developer Edition" has this. However, the Web Developer Edition doesn't support the Entity Framework items: . I'd want to stick with only the Express Editions. Is my use case one that Microsoft forgot about? What can I do here to use SqlExpress + MVC 2 + Entity Framework? Thanks! -Mike
