  • How do you diagnose a 500 error on Heroku when there is no error message in the logs?

    I have a Rails app on Heroku that is serving 500 errors at random intervals. Web pages will display "Internal server error" in plain text, instead of the usual "We're sorry. Something went wrong." page. When I refresh the page, it works fine.   • Difference between piping a file to sh and calling a shell file

    This is what was trying to do: $ wget -qO- www.example.com/script.sh | sh which quietly downloads the script and prints it to stdout which is then piped to sh. This unfortunately doesn't quite work, failing to wait for user input a various points, aswell as a few syntax errors. This is what actually works: $ wget -qOscript www.example.com/script.sh && chmod +x ./script && ./script But what's the difference? I'm thinking maybe piping the file doesn't execute the file, but rather executes each line individually, but I'm new to this kind of thing so I don't know.

    I have been coding a design I had been working on for a week or so and have core across a snag. While doing the HTML/CSS of one of my right column modules the content within it expands however the bg and bordered area it is within does not. htttp://www.gamefriction.com/Coded/ (url with example) http://www.gamefriction.com/Coded/css/style.css (css stylesheet used on page) This website is purely HTML and CSS at this time all code can be viewed through the View Source option on all browsers. The area that is not working properly is the bullet links in the right module with the blue background that says "League Menu". The content above that will make the module background expand however the linked bullet menu will not.

    hello everyone, I picked up a new server to do some testing and need of a little help in setting up my environment at home. Here is what I would like to do: The test server will be used to test new code and configurations for a SaaS product. I would like from my laptop to enter www.acme.com and have it hit the server. The server is connected to a wireless router. I have windows server 2008 with IIS running on an an IP of 192.168.1.4. What is the best way to set this up? I want to hit the test server for www.acme.com and not go out to the internet. Do i need to mess with the LMHosts file? Thanks for the help. Im sure its easy but have never done this before.

    What is my best option for converting plain text links within a string into anchor tags? Say for example I have "I went and searched on http://www.google.com/ today". I would want to change that to "I went and searched on http://www.google.com/ today". The method will need to be safe from any kind of XSS attack also since the strings are user generated. They will be safe before parsing so I just need to make sure that no vulnerabilities are introduced through parsing the URLs.

  • Not able to show video with html5

    I am testing html 5 video tag. I am using http://www.kaltura.org/project/HTML5_Video_Media_JavaScript_Library and http://camendesign.co.uk/. I downloaded the creative common video. When I use an external link, it plays the video. So I uploaded the video to my server but it does not play. It asks if I want to save it or asking an application to play. When I go to the external link, http://cdn.kaltura.org/apis/html5lib/kplayer-examples/media/bbb400p.ogv, it plays it on the browser automatically. I also tested locally, but it does not play either. I am hoping someone gives me why and how to solve the problem.     I i just moved my website (asp.net) to the live environment. i realized they are running IIS 6 so all my nice and clean url rewriting doesn t work anymore. i was trying to implemente url rewriting using the .htaccess file i want to rewrite www.amicobio.co.uk/Menu.aspx as www.amicobio.co.uk/Food-Menu so in the .htaccess i set CaseInsensitive On Options +FollowSymlinks RewriteEngine On RewriteRule ^Food-Menu$ Menu.aspx but it doesn t work it says The requested URL /a/m/amicobio.co.uk/public/Menu.aspx was not found on this server. obviously yhe path is wrong but what is /a/m/ ? and how do i fix it? all the files in amicobio.co.uk/public/ thanks

  • Adobe Flex, loading a remote swf

    I have a flex app running on my server. I have had a request from some clients to have the swf loaded on their server, so that their customers dont have to be transferred to my server to login; i.e. from the user's point of view it looks like they are logging in from theirsite.com instead of mysite.com I tried something really simple, and that was to give them a html wrapper to host on their site. The only modification that I made was to change the "src" var to: "src", "https://www.mysite.com/app/myapp.swf" and embed src="https://www.mysite.com/app/myapp.swf" To my surprise, this worked perfectly. And best of all, the service calls still seem to come from mysite.com, so I dont have to bother with modifying the crossdomain.xml file. All good it seems. Are there any issues or downsides to the above that I should be aware of?

    My team is trying to setup an Apache reverse proxy from a customer's site into one of our web applications. http://www.example.com/app1/some-path maps to http://internal1.example.com/some-path Inside our application we use struts and have redirect = true set on certain actions in order to provide certain functionality. The 302 status messages from these re-directs cause the user to break out of the proxy resulting in an error page for the end user. HTTP/1.1 302 Found Location: http://internal.example.com/some-path/redirect Is there any way to setup the reverse proxy in apache so that the redirects work correctly? http://www.example.com/app1/some-path/redirect

  • appending <a href> to keywords in rails

    Basically, there are some keywords that i want to pick out and assign a link to them dynamically. How should i go about in doing this? Let's say i have something like this; <p>ruby, rails, php, python, django and sinatra</p> and i would like to assign links to keywords like ruby and python, so the end results should look like this; <p><a href="http://www.ruby-lang.org">ruby</a>, rails, php, <a href="http://www.python.org">python</a>, django and sinatra</p> Any help or suggestion would be much appreciated!

  • Using the Antenna and J2ME Polish preprocessors interchangeably and setting a variable value

    I have J2ME code, which I want to be able to compile using the J2ME Polish preprocessor or the wtkpreprocessor (antenna). They mostly use the same directives so it usually works, but ... When I want to insert an URL value in the Java code this gives a problem. In Antenna the code would look like this: //#ifdef my.url //# System.out.println("My Url"); //#expand String location = "%my.url%"; //#else System.out.println("Default"); String location = "http://www.some.default.url.com"; //#endif and in J2ME Polish it would look like this: //#ifdef my.url:defined //# System.out.println("My Url"); //#= String location = "${my.url}"; //#else System.out.println("Default"); String location = "http://www.some.default.url.com"; //#endif I want some way in which I can use the preprocessors interchangeably and still be able to set the url in the build.xml, any ideas?
