• How do I protect static files with ASP.NET form auhentication on IIS 7.5?

  Hi all I have a website running on a IIS 7.5 server with ASP.NET 4.0 on a shared host, but in full trust. The site is a basic "file browser" that allows the visitors to login and have a list of files available to them displayed, and, obviously, download the files. The static files (mostly pdf files) are located in a sub folder on the site called data, e.g. http://example.com/data/... The site uses ASP.NET form authentication. My question is: How do I get the ASP.NET engine to handle the requests for the static files in the data folder, so that request for files are authenticated by ASP.NET, and users are not able to deep link to a file and grab files they are not allowed to have?   I am developing an Android App that uses the Google APIs Client Library for Java version 1.12.0. I have added the jar files to the /libs folder (and not to a new /lib folder). I get the following error: Dx trouble processing "javax/xml/namespace/QName.class": Ill-advised or mistaken usage of a core class (java.* or javax.*) when not building a core library. I am NOT using Maven though, and all the answers by others seem to make use of Maven. Android version - 4.1.2 API level 16 Eclipse - Java EE Juno Any suggestions on how I can solve this?

• Scaffold default files are the best practice?

  Hey, i have some experience with MVC. but I'm new to rails. I'm using the scaffold command to generate some default files. The model looks clean and nice, but the controller and the views aren't really dry. The contents of new.html.erb and edit.html.erb are almost the same and the methods new/edit and create/update are doing almost the same thing. In other frameworks i've used only one view for updating and creating new entries and also the same method in my controller by setting the id as an optional parameter. Do they use this structure to keep things RESTful (i have not much of a clue about rest :()? Is it the best practice to use this default stuff for crud?

• Good reasons why to not use XIB files?

  Are there any good reasons why I should not use XIB / NIB files with an highly customized UI and extensive animations and super low memory footprint needs? As a beginner I started with XIB. Then I figured out I couldn't do just about everything in them. It started to get really hard to customize things the way I wanted them to be. So at the end, I threw all my XIBs away and did it all programmatically. So when someone asks me if XIB is good, I generally say: Yeah, if you want to make crappy boring interfaces and don't care too much about performance, go ahead. But what else could be a reason not to use XIB? Am I the only iPhone developer who prefers doing everything programmatically for this reasons?

And am going thru this tutorial on line and it is telling me i can load other prolog files by typing: [filename]. but ever time I try this am getting ERROR: load_files/2: Arguments are not sufficiently instantiated. • PHP Launch Execute Files Concurrently

  Hi all. Basically, I was doing some testing using apache bench. The file i was testing takes 2 seconds to execute (its optimised, it connects to an external server hence the slowdown) Basically I found that the more concurrent useres i emulated, the more executions of the file i could do per second. Is there anyway that i can do something like this in php? : <?php execute_file('file.php'); execute_file('file.php'); execute_file('file.php'); execute_file('file.php'); execute_file('file.php'); ?> That would execute the file 5 times but would NOT wait for the files to finish downloading so the above example would quickly call the 5 functions then exit. Im assuming somesort of timeout would be used?

  I am trying to convert different files to a flash compatible .mp4 file with ffmpeg, but i cant seem to succeed. Off cource the objective is to get the greatest quality with the smallest filesize. So far I have this, that works but it doesnt play in a flash player of some reason, and the result isnt that great, anybody got any tips on how to improve this conversion? ffmpeg -i input.file -f mp4 -vcodec mpeg4 -r 25 -b 560000 -s 610x340 -acodec aac -ac 2 -ab 64 -ar 44100 output.file Would be great the se other peoples experiences with this type of conversion.

But I am clue less about how can i use the function defined in other file?

• Java memory mapped files and swap

  I'm looking at some memory mapped files in Java. Let's say I have a heap size set to 2gb, and I memory map a file that is 50gb - far more than the physical memory on the machine. The OS will cache parts of that 50gb file in the os file cache, the java process will have 2gb of heap space. What I'm curious about is how does the OS decide how much of the 50gb file to cache? For instance, if I have another java process, also with a 2gb heap size, will that 2gb be swapped out to allow the os to cache parts of the memory mapped file? Will parts of the heap space of the first process be swapped out to allow the OS to cache? Is there any way to tell the OS not to swap heap space for OS caching? If the OS doesn't swap out main processes, how does it determine how big its file cache should be?

• Batch convert latin-1 files to utf-8 using iconv

  I'm having this one PHP project on my OSX which is in latin1 -encoding. Now I need to convert files to UTF8. I'm not much a shell coder and I tried something I found from internet: mkdir new for a in ls -R *; do iconv -f iso-8859-1 -t utf-8 <"$a" new/"$a" ; done But that does not create the directory structure and it gives me heck load of errors when run. Can anyone come up with neat solution?

  Hi, I'm going to try and make as much sense as possible here. We are working on a myfaces 2 app in tomcat. On our local dev machines, whenever we want to change one of our xhtml files, we have to stop the server, deploy and then start the server back up. This is cumbersome and makes making small changes to the view tedious. I tried changing the deployed xhtml file in tomcat, but the server only picks up the new change after a restart. Is there any type of config in myfaces or tomcat I can do to force the rebuilding of these source xhtml's every time?

• Diff tool that can compare sub-sections of files

  I'm looking for a diff tool that will allow me to compare just a sub-section of a file with a section of another file, or even of itself. Preferably eclipse based but will take all suggestions. Yes I know I can copy out the two sections into different files and compare those, but that is very tedious when you are trying to do a large amount of refactoring. Basically I'm trying to remove as much duplicated code as possible from a code base that is suffering from a great deal of ctrl-V 'inheritance' ;-) However the pasted parts have evolved apart a little over time.

• Serving GZipped files from s3 using the Asset Pipeline

  I have a Rails 3.2.3 app on Heroku and I'm using the asset_sync gem to serve my assets from s3, via these instructions. It works great, except s3 is not serving up the gzipped css/js files (just the uncompressed version). I've enabled gzip compression, to no avail: config.gzip_compression = true According to Using GZIP with html pages served from Amazon S3 I need to add meta-data to the s3 object for uploading. How would I do this in concert with the Asset Pipeline? Thank you for any help.

• Newbie Question: Read and Process a List of Text Files

  I'm completely new to .NET and am trying as a first step to write a text processing program. The task is simple: I have a list of 10,000 text files stored in one folder, and I'm trying to read each one, store it as a string variable, then run it through a series of functions, then save the final output to another folder. So far I can only manage to manually input the file path like this (in VB.NET): Dim tRead As System.IO.StreamReader Public Function ReadFile() As String Dim EntireFile As String tRead = File.OpenText("c:\textexample\00001.txt") EntireFile = tRead.ReadToEnd Return EntireFile End Function Public Function Step1() ..... Perhaps for example store all input file path into a text file then read each entry at a time, then save the final output into the save path, again listed in a text file. • Eclipse Project Files to .exe or Runnable Jar

  I am able to create the runnable jar using the export feature. However, it does not behave like it does in eclipse. When my program first starts, launch settings are displayed. I can see this. However, when I want to actually launch the meat of the program, it doesn't show up. It seems to not look at all my class files or something. I have tried Far Jar but that didn't work... I have triend JSmooth but still just ran the one frame If I can make this a runnable jar that works or even a .exe, that would be great!

  Hi, I'm new to Smalltalk. I think I understand the basics of the language and now want to start with GNU Smalltalk (as it's free and has bindings for GTK). As I'm coming from the PHP and Java-Corner, I'm not familiar with the concept of the Smalltalk images. And I even read now, that you don't need to use images in GNU Smalltalk. Now I'm confused ;-) So is it possible to work with files and to include the classes I need with the PackageLoader class? I would be happy when I could use my favourite texteditor (vim) for coding instead of an IDE, too ;-) Please enlight me :-)

  I'm using YSlow to improve the speed of my site, and I'm having trouble with the "compress components with gzip" grade. I have this in my .htaccess file: SetOutputFilter DEFLATE AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE text/html text/plain text/xml text/css application/x-javascript But YSlow is saying There are 4 plain text components that should be sent compressed * http://crewinyourcode.com/css/reset.css * http://crewinyourcode.com/css/inner-pages/index.css * http://crewinyourcode.com/script/css/jquery-ui-1.8.custom.css * http://crewinyourcode.com/js/inner-pages/index.js How can I gzip the css and js files? • IIS not serving up .dat files.

  Hi all, I have a ASP MVC web application that uses a plugin to load images and points for a 3d application. When debugging with the the Visual Studio development server the images and the points are served up great... http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s19/littleniv/Debugging/local.png Second image: same url but iis.png When running in IIS 7 though the .Dat point files do not serve and produce a 404. I've noticed the caching is marked as private in fiddler, but i don't know what this means. Can anyone help? Cheers, Stu

However, when I make it into an app, the GUI starts but when I press the button nothing happens. predictmiP does get included in build/bdist.macosx-10.3-fat/python2.7-standalone/app/collect/, like all the other imports I'm using (although it is empty, but that's the same as all the other imports I have). How can I get multiple python files, or an imported package to work with py2app?

[['Chicago', 'ORD'], ['Detroit', 'DTW'], ['Atlanta', 'ATL']] (I realize that dictionaries would probably be more appropriate in this situation, but I'm just trying to understand lists a bit better). • Edit PDF files dynamically from Flash or Flex

  I am planning to do a CD-ROM in either Flash or Flex, possibly using the Adobe AIR runtime. This CD interactive will have a bunch of forms on it for the user to fill out. After they fill in a form, they will have the option of saving or printing a PDF that is based on there information. I am trying to find a way of editing the content of the PDF in Flash, so when the user fills out the form, the application will fill in the PDF with there details from the form fields. Is this is possible? It would be great if there was some way of having template PDFs (either on the CD as there own files, or in a Flash library), then flash could come along and fill in the specific fields inside the PDF. Can Adobe AIR help me in any way here?
