    Hi everyone, I have a weird issue. I receive the following error that causes a force-close: org.apache.harmony.xml.ExpatParser$ParseException: At line 1, column 0: no element found at org.apache.harmony.xml.ExpatParser.parseFragment(ExpatParser.java:508) at org.apache.harmony.xml.ExpatParser.parseDocument(ExpatParser.java:467) at org.apache.harmony.xml.ExpatReader.parse(ExpatReader.java:329) at org.apache.harmony.xml.ExpatReader.parse(ExpatReader.java:286) After clicking the Force Close button, the Activity is recreated and the parsing completes without a hitch. I'm using the following code snippet inside doInBackground of an AsyncTask: URL serverAddress = new URL(url[0]); HTTPURLConnection connection = (HttpURLConnection) serverAddress.openConnection(); connection.setRequestMethod("GET"); connection.setDoOutput(true); connection.setReadTimeout(10000); connection.connect(); InputStream stream = connection.getInputStream(); SAXParserFactory spf = SAXParserFactory.newInstance(); SAXParser sp = spf.newSAXParser(); XMLReader xr = sp.getXMLReader(); xr.parse(new InputSource(stream)); // The line that throws the exception Why would the Activity force-close and then run without any problems immediately after?   • Why is OracleDataAdapter.Fill() Very Slow?

    I am using a pretty complex query to retrieve some data out of one of our billing databases. I'm running in to an issue where the query seems to complete fairly quickly when executed with SQL Developer, but does not seem to ever finish when using the OracleDataAdapter.Fill() method. I'm only trying to read about 1000 rows, and the query completes in SQL Developer in about 20 seconds. What could be causing such drastic differences in performance? I have tons of other queries that run quickly using the same function.   • Cannot add Authorization field to HttpsUrlConnection in order to complete Basic authentication

When I look at the connection through the debugger, the method shows up as GET even though I set it to POST; the collection of request properties shows up as null. If I print the values out, the method shows up as POST, but the request parameters collection is still empty. I would love to be able to print the request and understand what's going on, but I could not figure out how to print the content of an output buffer. Any ideas? Thanks! ES

Another question is, I put the file in a NSMutableArray, my question is, how to check which index of array is the correct file type (jpg and mp3)? because I need to save them to the device folder.

  • C# Windows Mobile 6.5 and TCP connections

    Hello, I am developing an application which makes a TCP connection out to our company server to pull down data and provide real-time data updates when the information changes. I am using the .NET Compact Framework for the development and the .NET Framework 3.5 (soon to update to 4.0) for the server-side TCP connection. I want to leave the connection open after the initial data is sent to the device from the server in order to keep the server in contact with the device should data updates need to be sent to the device. We already considered doing a WCF or connect/disconnect type of connection but we believe the overhead on the server for creating the session, transmitting and session cleanup would be unacceptable. (each device would be connecting every 60-90 seconds.) So, leaving the connection open is the best option. What I need to know is, when I leave the TCP connection open, do I need to manually transmit a heartbeat (and if so how do I do that with the .NET Compact Framework) or will the framework/stack do that for me? We have code that allows up to reconnect if the device gets disconnected (from network switching or a voice call) so that is handled. Thanks,

    What do you do when your team leader does not know why the following is wrong: a.SomeProp = a.SomeProp; // no funny side-effects, plain old property He claims 15 years of programming experience, and 7 years of C#/.NET. To me, someone of 3-6 months experience should know this. What I have done: Tried to make him understand why it is wrong. He told me not to criticize him. Told him it's not about criticism, but project risk. He got upset with me. I have addressed the risk of this person with our manager (few weeks back). I have addressed my concerns with this person with our manager several times, since 1 month after I started there (7 months now). Currently, I just feel like just not going back to work... I hardly have any nails left, and this is really just the tip of the iceberg. As nothing has changed after I have spoken to the manager for the last 6 months, I feel like I need to make some sort of ultimatum. Do you have any suggestions? PS: Please do not make this subjective. I have no need for arguing. The level of incompetence is pretty clear. I just need some advice before going insane. The application uses the membership schema and all required objects inside main application database However, during development I have to switch to various databases, for different development and testing scenarios. For this I have an external connection strings section file and also an external appsettings section, which allow me to not change main web.config but switch the db easily, by changing setting only in appsettings section. My files are as below: <connectionStrings configSource="connections.config"> </connectionStrings> <appSettings file="local.config"> .... ConnectionStrings looks as usual: <connectionStrings> <add name="MyDB1" connectionString="..." ... /> <add name="MyDB2" connectionString="..." ... /> .... </connectionStrings> And local.config as below <appSettings> <add key="ConnectionString" value="MyDB2" /> My code takes into account to use this connection string But membership settings in web.config contains the connection string name directly into the setting, like <add name="MembershipProvider" connectionStringName="MyDB2" ...> .... <add name="RoleProvider" connectionStringName="MyDB2" ...> Because of this, every time I have to edit them too to use the new db. Is there any way to config membership provider to use an appsetting to select db connection for membership db? Or to "redirect" it to read connection setting from somewhere else? Or at least to have this in some external file (like local.config) Maybe is some easy way to wrap asp.net membership provider intio my own provider which will just read connection string from where I want and pass it to original membership provider, and then just delegate the whole membership functionality to asp.net membership provider.   • Posting messages in two RabbitMQ queue, instead of one (using py-amqp)

    I've got this strange problem using py-amqp and the Flopsy module. I have written a publisher that sends messages to a RabbitMQ server, and I wanted to be able to send it to a specified queue. On the Flopsy module that is not possible, so I tweaked it adding a parameter and a line to declare the queue on the init_ method of the Publisher object def __init__(self, routing_key=DEFAULT_ROUTING_KEY, exchange=DEFAULT_EXCHANGE, connection=None, delivery_mode=DEFAULT_DELIVERY_MODE, queue=DEFAULT_QUEUE): self.connection = connection or Connection() self.channel = self.connection.connection.channel() self.channel.queue_declare(queue) # ADDED TO SET UP QUEUE self.exchange = exchange self.routing_key = routing_key self.delivery_mode = delivery_mode The channel object is part of the py-amqplib library The problem I've got it's that, even if it's sending the messages to the specified queue, it's ALSO sending the messages to the default queue. AS in this system we expect to send quite a lot of messages, we don't want to stress the system making useless duplicates... I've tried to debug the code and go inside the py-amqplib library, but I'm not able figure out any error or lacking step. Also, I'm not able to find any documentation form py-amqplib outside the code. Any ideas on why is this happening and how to correct it?

  • Comet Jetty/Tomcat, having some browser issues with Firefox and Chrome

    I am exploring the use of Comet for a project I am working on. I tried creating a test application first using Tomcat6 and CometProcessor API and then with Jetty7 Continuations. The application is kind of working on both but I am having some issues with the actual display of messages. I used the technique of creating an XMLHttpRequest Connection and keeping it open all the time so the server can continuously push data to all the clients connected whenever it is available. My client side code is something similar to this: function fn(){ var xhr = new XMLHttpRequest(); xhr.onreadystatechange = function(){ if (xhr.readyState==3){ document.getElementById('dv').innerHTML =(xhr.responseText); } if (xhr.readyState==4){ alert ('done'); } } xhr.open("GET", "First", true); xhr.send(null); } I found this thing of using readyState 3 somewhere online. I am facing 2 problems currently: In Firefox this code works perfectly. But if I open a new tab or even a new browser window, it does not make a new connection to the server and nothing shows up on the new tab or window, only the first tab/window gets the display. I used wireshark to check this and its shows only 1 connection even after the 2nd tab is opened. I am unable to understand why this would happen. I have read about the 2 connection limit, but here there is only one connection. Secondly in Chrome, the above code does not work, and the callback is not invoked for readystate of 3, only when the connection is closed by the server i get the output. I would also like to ask which is the best way/framework for doing Comet with Java. I am currently using jQuery on the client side. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks

  • How to use Common Table Expression and check no duplication in SQL Server

    I have a table references to itself. User table: id, username, managerid and managerid links back to id Now, I want to get all the managers including direct manager, manager of direct manager, so on and so forth... The problem is that I do not want to have a unstop recursive sql. So, I want to check if an id alreay in a list, I will not include it anymore. Here is my sql for that: with all_managers (id, username, managerid, idlist) as ( select u1.id, u1.username, u1.managerid, ' ' from users u1, users u2 where u1.id = u2.managerid and u2.id = 6 UNION ALL select u.id, u.username, u.managerid, idlist + ' ' + u.id from all_managers a, users u where a.managerid = u.id and charindex(cast(u.id as nvarchar(5)), idlist) != 0 ) select id, username from all_managers; The problem is that in this line: select u1.id, u1.username, u1.managerid, ' ' The SQL Server complains with me that I can not put ' ' as the initialized for idlist. nvarchar(40) does not work as well. I do not know how to declare it inside a common table expression like this one. Usually, in db2, I can just put varchar(40) My sample data: ID UserName ManagerID 1 admin 1 2 a 1 3 b 1 4 c 2 What I want to do is that I want to find all managers of c guy. The result should be: admin, a, b. Some of the user can be his manager (like admin) because the ManagerID does not allow NULL and some does not have direct manager. With common table expression, it can lead to an infinite recursive. So, I am also trying to avoid that situation by trying to not include the id twice. For example, in the 1st iteration, we already have id : 1, so, in the 2nd iteration and later on, 1 should never be allowed. I also want to ask if my current approach is good or not and any other solutions? Because if I have a big database with a deep hierarchy, I will have to initialize a big varchar to keep it and it consumes memory, right?

  • Creating Dependencies Only to be able to Unit Test

    I just created a Manager that deals with a SuperClass that is extended all over the code base and registered with some sort of SuperClassManager (SCM). Now I would like to test my Manager that is aware of only the SuperClass. I tried to create a concrete SCM, however, that depends on a third party library and therefore I failed to do that in my jUnit test. Now the option is to mock all instances of this SCM. All is good until now, however, when my Manager deals with the SCM, it returns children of the SuperClass that my Manager does not know or care about. Nevertheless, the identities of these children are vital for my tests (for equality, etc.). Since I cannot use the concrete SCM, I have to mock the results of calls to the appropriate functions of the SCM, however, this means that my tests and therefore my Manager need to know and care about the children of the SuperClass. Checking the code base, there does not seem to be a more appropriate location for my test (that already maintains the appropriate real dependencies). Is it worth it to introduce unnecessary dependencies for the sake of unit testing?

How do I fix this code so that it is incremented 1500 times?

    hi all !  In my app i need to download several plist.  to download a plist i use the NSURLconnection  in my code i use an UIAlertView with a UIActivityIndicator then when the download is finished i add a button to the alert to dismiss it.  To download the plist i use somewhere in my code an NSURL set to the adresse where the plist is, next i set a NSURLRequest with the url cache policy and a timeout interval.  Then i set my NSMutableData to the NSURL connection with a NSURLRequest.  In the delegate didReceiveData: i append data to my mutable data object, in the didFailWithError: i handle error. And finaly in the connectionDidFinishLoading  i serialize my data to a plist so i can write to file my plist, and release my alertview.  My problem is : how can i do if i have sevetal file to download because the connectionDidFinishLoading is called each time my NSURLConnection is finished but i want to release my UiAlert when everything is finished.   • Jboss logging issue

    I'm Working as deployer and server administrator. We use Jboss 4.0x AS to deploy our applications. The issue I'm facing is, Whenever we redeploy/restart the server, server.log is getting created but after sometime the logging goes off. Yes it is not at all updating the server.log file. Due to this, we could not trace the other critical issues we have. Actually we have two separate nodes and we do deploy/restarting the server separately on two nodes. We are facing the issue in both of our test and production environment. I could not trace out where exactly the issue is. Could you please help me in resolving the issue? If we have any other issues, we can check the log files. If log itself is not getting updated/logged, how can we move further in analyzing the issues without the recent/updated logs?     iptables -A INPUT -m state --state NEW -m recent --set # If we receive more than 10 connections in 10 seconds block our friend. iptables -A INPUT -m state --state NEW -m recent --update --seconds 5 --hitcount 15 -j Log-N-Drop I have these two relevant rules from iptables. if more than 15 connections are made in 5 seconds it logs the attempt and blocks it. How long does iptables maintain the counter? Does it refresh if connections are attempted again?

Then I installed Oracle XE client on my Test machine which is also working fine and I can access Development PC database from Browser.
