    Hello, I am attempting to prevent default anchor behavior in Safari using the jQuery library. Unfortunately, the standard techniques of returning false or using event.preventDefault() do not seem to be working in Safari. Could anyone help me with this issue?   • Append a string to the end of an element attribute using jQuery

    I have an element: <select id="row" /> I want to append a string to the end of the id attribute, like this: <select id="row_1" /> The jQuery I am using to achieve this is (from within an each): $(this).attr('id',$(this).attr('id')+'_'+row_count); This looks ugly as sin, and whilst it works I want to know if there is a simpler solution. In this example, the ID prefix (e.g. row) is never constant, so I can't just do 'row_'+row_count. Cheers!

I tried googling it but I wasn't able to find a good article with comparisons.   • Jquery hover to only have effect for certain amount of time

    Hi there, am using jquery tablesorter plugin and in my "country" column i got special characters like this: Índia. The fact is that when i hit the header of the column to sort it, it puts my "Índia" at the end of the column. I guess the nav sees the Í instead of the real "I" with an accent. Any clue on how to make it work even with accents ? Here's the js code in my domready: $.tablesorter.defaults.widgets = ['zebra']; $.tablesorter.defaults.sortList = [[0,0]]; $("table").tablesorter(); Thanks in advance.

  • Supplying a callback to Jeditable

    Summary: When I try supplying a onsubmit or onreset callback to Jeditable, I get Object [function] has no method 'apply' errors. How I got here: I've been working on a rails plugin to supply Jeditable and jWYSIWYG for in-place WYSIWYG editing. Development is driven by a Rails project I'm working on which asks for specific functions. One of the options I added was the ability to trigger Jeditable's edit mode using a button instead of clicking on the editable text itself, following the pattern suggested in this answer. The next step, though, is to hide the button while in edit mode, and reveal it again when leaving edit mode. The hide is easy enough; I just added a line to the triggering function which sends .toggle() to the button. Reveal is trickier. I figure I need to .toggle() again on submit or cancel, and helpfully, Jeditable offers onsubmit and onreset callbacks. However, when I try using those callbacks, I get this Object [something] has no method 'apply' errors. What I'm trying: Because this is in the context of a Rails helper, the actual mechanics are a little more involved than this, but the upshot is that I'm trying to follow this pattern, handing Jeditable this in the args: "onsubmit":"showTrigger", and then including this script: function showTrigger(settings, original) { $(".edit_trigger[id='element_id']").toggle(); } However, on submitting changes or canceling an edit, I get the error Object showTrigger has no method 'apply' ...as described above. I also tried sending in a function directly as the "onsubmit" argument (i.e. "onsubmit": "function(settings, original){$(\".edit_trigger[id='element_id']\").toggle();}" and then I just get Object function(settings, original){$(\".edit_trigger[id='element_id']\").toggle();} has no method 'apply' instead. There must be something wrong with how I'm handing in this callback. Any ideas? ETA: This answer suggests to me that somehow I'm providing a string to Jeditable when it expects a function instead. However, because I'm working within the context of a Rails helper, I'm not at all sure how to fix that - the "showTrigger" bit is set as a Ruby variable in the helper, and although window.showTrigger() is defined when the window is loaded, I don't know how to designate that function within a Ruby variable such that it will be recognized as a function at page load time.

    I'm trying to iterate through all the empty textboxes in a table and change its background colour. I'm using the following JQuery code: $("#btn2").click(function() { var emptyTextBoxes = $('input:text').filter(function() { return this.value == ""; }); emptyTextBoxes.each(function() { this.css('background-color', '#ffff00'); // $('#Col3Txtbx').css('background-color', '#ffff00'); }); }); This does not seem to refer to the textbox which seems strange to me. When I uncomment out the particular textbox, it does reset the background colour. Can someone explain to me what 'This' is referring to?

I've read this thing: http://code.google.com/p/zeroclipboard/wiki/Instructions Can someone provide me a short snippet, which makes it possible to copy a text in variable to users clipboard, when user clicks a link.     I have a simple page with a list if "items". I am allowing users to vote on these items, but I only want to allow the user to vote one per. item. Therefore i have made a jQuery script that adds a class to the items the user has voted on: if(! $(this).find(".item span").hasClass("voted")) { $(".item").hover(function() { $(this).find(".ratingbar").hide(); $(this).find(".votebar").show(); }, function() { $(this).find(".votebar").hide(); $(this).find(".ratingbar").show(); }); }; This is the script that prevents the user from voting again on the same item. $(".votebutton").click(function() { $("div#"+offerid).find(".item").addClass("voted"); } My problem is that this doesn´t work. When hovering an item, the hover function still runs even though the second script successfully added the class "voted" to the html. Why can this be?

  • Jquery UI accordion question - how would you approach this?

    I am using jquery UI accordion control in one of my apps asp.net apps. The data for the accordion comes from a database, and each database record has an ID, a Title Field and a content field. The title is the heading, and the content is the data that shows up when the draw is opened... I'd like to be able to call my page like this: http://www.mywebsite.com/mypage.aspx?ID=123 and have it display all the data (as it does now), but then have the default 'drawer' of the accordion open to the section that corresponds to the ID number passed in on the url...there are about 50 sections on the page. Any suggestions on how to approach this? My questions is specific to the jquery accordion function, the rest I know. So where would be the best place to 'tag' the drawer with the unique ID's, and then what is the snippet of javascript code (I assume) that I would use 'open' that drawer based on the ID passed in?? This menu, will change the background image when you click on a link, as almost all menus does. if i click in one link from the menu, this link backgroun will change the color. My jquery script is: $(function() { $('#menu ul li').click(function() { $('#menu ul li').removeClass("current_page_item"); $(this).addClass("current_page_item"); //return false; }); }); today, with the "return false" commented, when i click on the link under "#menu ul li" it changes the background open the new page and the background is reseted. For sure, if i uncomment the return false, the background works fine but then i cannot open any link. So its looks like after that i open a new page, it reset the classes. How can i make it persistent?

    Hello all, Is there a way to have the jquery treeview plugin automatically collapse when a user focuses on another element. More detail about what I am trying to do: I have a form where a user has to select an item from a large selection. To make this easier I have set up a small list of 5 commonly selected items each with associated radio select buttons. However if the item wanted is not in this common list the user has to use the treeview to search through different categories to find the item. Is there a way to collapse the treeview when the user clicks on one of the radio buttons from the common item list? Thanks for your help in advance, Andy

    Ok, I'm trying to use jQuery $.post with the PasteBin API to create a PasteBin page and grab the URL (which the API says it returns). Here is my code so far: $('#send_code').click(function(){ $.post('http://pastebin.com/api_public.php', { paste_name: $('#paste_name').val(), paste_code: $('#paste_code').val() }, function(data){ alert(data); }); } The above script creates the page just fine (I can find them on PasteBin). However, all that is returned is an empty string. I've tried using this same API with php and cURL, and I'm able to retrieve the URL just fine. Can anyone see if I'm doing something wrong? Thanks!
