    How to create reasonable expression to store password in database using Doctrine and Zend_Auth::setCredentialTreatment()? I don't want to use md5() and the code must be portable, and with salt. I would call this not easy one to guess: setCredentialTreatment("SHA1(CONCAT(username, SHA1(CONCAT(username, ?)))"); but it is not portable to all databases. Seems that Doctrine_Expression has only md5 expression portability.

  • Instantiating a context in LINQ to Entities

    I've seen two different manners that programmers approach when creating an entity context in their code. The first is like such, and you can find it all over the MSDN code examples: public void DoSomething() { using TaxableEducationEntities context = new TaxableEducationEntities()) { // business logic and whatever else } } The second is to create the context as a private attribute in some class that encapsulates your business logic. So you would have something like: public class Education_LINQ { private TaxableEducationEntities context = new TaxableEducationEntities(); public void DoSomething() { var result = from a in context.luAction select a; // business logic and whatever else } } Which way is more efficient? Assume that you have two methods, one called DoSomething1() and another called DoSomething2(), and both methods incorporate the using statement to open the context and do whatever with it. Were you to call one method after the other, would there be any superfluous overhead going on, since essentially both methods create the context and then clean it up when they're done? As opposed to having just one private attribute that is created when a class object is instantiated, and then in turn cleaned up when the object goes out of scope?

  • Extend base type and automatically update audit information on Entity

    I have an entity model that has audit information on every table (50+ tables) CreateDate CreateUser UpdateDate UpdateUser Currently we are programatically updating audit information. Ex: if(changed){ entity.UpdatedOn = DateTime.Now; entity.UpdatedBy = Environment.UserName; context.SaveChanges(); } But I am looking for a more automated solution. During save changes, if an entity is created/updated I would like to automatically update these fields before sending them to the database for storage. Any suggestion on how i could do this? I would prefer to not do any reflection, so using a text template is not out of the question. A solution has been proposed to override SaveChanges and do it there, but in order to achieve this i would either have to use reflection (in which I don't want to do ) or derive a base class. Assuming i go down this route how would I achieve this? For example EXAMPLE_DB_TABLE CODE NAME --Audit Tables CREATE_DATE CREATE_USER UPDATE_DATE UPDATE_USER And if i create a base class public abstract class IUpdatable{ public virtual DateTime CreateDate {set;} public virtual string CreateUser { set;} public virtual DateTime UpdateDate { set;} public virtual string UpdateUser { set;} } The end goal is to be able to do something like... public overrride void SaveChanges(){ //Go through state manager and update audit infromation //FOREACH changed entity in state manager if(entity is IUpdatable){ //If state is created... update create audit. //if state is updated... update update audit } } But I am not sure how I go about generating the code that would extend the interface.

    I am using a viewmodel, which i then when to send to an actionresult to use (the modified viewmodel) But in the controller, i lose the list and objects in my viewmodel.     Hi, I'm trying to add a CSS class to a Zend_Form_Element_Select option, but I just can't find a way to do it. The desired output would be something like this: <select name="hey" id="hey"> <option value="value1" style="parent">label1</option> <option value="value2" style="sibling">sublabel1</option> <option value="value3" style="sibling">sublabel2</option> <option value="value4" style="parent">label2</option> <option value="value5" style="sibling">sublabel3</option> <option value="value6" style="sibling">sublabel4</option> </select> But I'm getting this: <select name="hey" id="hey"> <option value="value1">label1</option> <option value="value2">sublabel1</option> <option value="value3">sublabel2</option> <option value="value4">label2</option> <option value="value5">sublabel3</option> <option value="value6">sublabel4</option> </select> I can't seem to pass a CSS class attribute to any of the options in the select element although I can style the select element itselft. My code: $sel = new Zend_Form_Element_Select('hey'); $sel->setRequired(true)->setLabel('Select an Option:'); $sel->addMultiOption('value1', 'label1', array('class' => 'parent')) ->addMultiOption('value2', 'sublabel1', array('class' => 'sibling')) (etc...); After researching a bit I found out that Element_Select doesn't have a method for adding CSS styles to the options in the select box, only for the select itself. So, how can I add them? Should I extend the form_element_select? Or would a custom decorator suffice? Can anyone give me a hint? I'm baffled with this. Thanks in advance!

    I'm using C# 3.5 and EntityFramework. I have a list of items in the database that contain interest rates. Unfortunately this list only contains the Effective Start Date. I need to query this list for all items within a range. However, I can't see a way to do this without querying the database twice. (Although I'm wondering if delayed execution with EntityFramework is making only one call.)   • Using Include() with inherited entities problem

    In EF eager loading related entities is easy. But I'm having difficulties including inherited entities when loading data using table-per-type model. This is my model: Entities: ArticleBase (base article entity) ArticleSpecial (inherited from ArticleBase) UserBase (base user entity) UserSpecial (inherited from UserBase) Image Relations are as shown on the image (omitting many columns): In reality my users are always of type UserSpecial, since UserBase is used in another application, thus we can share credentials. That's the only reason I have two separate tables. UserBase table can't be changed in any way shape or form, because the other app would break. Question How am I suppose to load ArticleSpecial with both CreatedBy and EditedBy set, so that both are of type UserSpecial (that defines Image relation)? I've tried (unsuccessfully though) these options: 1. Using lambda expressions: context.ArticleBases .OfType<ArticleSpecial>() .Include("UserCreated.Image") .Include("UserEdited.Image"); In this case the problem is that both CreatedBy and EditedBy are related to UserBase, that doesn't define Image navigation. So I should somehow cast these two to UserSpecial type like: context.ArticleBases .OfType<ArticleSpecial>() .Include("UserCreated<UserSpecial>.Image") .Include("UserEdited<UserSpecial>.Image"); But of course using generics in Include("UserCreated<UserSpecial>.Image") don't work. 2. I have tried using LINQ query var results = from articleSpecial in ctx.ArticleBase.OfType<ArticleSpecial>() join created in ctx.UserBase.OfType<UserSpecial>().Include("Image") on articleSpecial.UserCreated.Id equals created.Id join edited in ctx.UserBase.OfType<UserSpecial>().Include("Image") on articleSpecial.UserEdited.Id equals edited.Id select articleSpecial; In this case I'm only getting ArticleSpecial object instances without related properties being set. I know I should select those somehow, but I don't know how? Select part in my LINQ could be changed to something like select new { articleSpecial, articleSpecial.UserCreated, articleSpecial.UserEdited }; but images are still not loaded into my context. My joins in this case are barely used to filter out articleSpecial results, but they don't load entities into context (I suppose). Can anybody provide any help regarding this problem? I think it's not so uncommon.

    I have been using 1.2.6 and downloaded 1.3 to try it out. I am using wampserver with Apache 2.2.11. I have mod rewrite enabled. When I bake a new application using the cake 1.3 console, after I verify that the webroot/index.php of the application CAKE_CORE_INCLUDE_PATH is set to the Cake1.3 Installation folder. The result is a page thats missing CSS, missing a method. Typing in localhost/app/index.php will enable the program to find the app. Therefore I have to assume the rewrite module isnt functioning properly for v1.3. Is there something I have to add to the cake installation or app folder to make this function as it should?

In my WCF update service method I am using something similar to the following: using (var context = new MyContext()) { context.MyObjects.ApplyChanges(myObject); context.SaveChanges(); } This works fine until I set ConcurrencyMode=Fixed on the entity and then I get an exception. It appears as if the context does not know about the previous values as the SQL statement is using the changed entities value in the WHERE clause. What is the correct approach when using ConcurrencyMode=Fixed?

    I have a application that runs on touch enabled device with WinCE 3.5 OS. I have a show player control to display adds when the system is left idle for some configured amount of time.. So the DirectShowPlayerControl will be iniated every time the show player is launched and will be destroyed when it is closed... The player for the first time plays videos continuously for any amount of time. Once the player is destroyed and recreated the video are changing but the display goes black and in between if some small video is placed that alone is displayed. Whenever the form is closed am calling DirectShowPlayerControl.Dispose() method.

    I'm trying to get Zend_Mail to send an encapsulated message - as though it's forwarding an email. $attachedContent = "<h1>H1 Email</h1>"; $emailContent = "<h1>Email Content>"; $mail = new Zend_Mail(); $mail->setBodyText('text content'); $mail->setBodyHtml($emailContent); $mail->setFrom('[email protected]', 'GAS'); $mail->addTo('[email protected]', 'GAS'); $at = $mail->createAttachment($attachedContent); $at->type = 'message/rfc822; name="forwarded message"'; $at->disposition = Zend_Mime::DISPOSITION_INLINE; $at->encoding = Zend_Mime::ENCODING_7BIT; $mail->setSubject('Test'); $mail->send(); Mail clients are getting the email, rendering the normal HTML content, and displaying the forwarded message and rendering its contents, however, it's formatting like: <h1>Email Content</h1> Can you see what I'm doing wrong?     Hi There, I have an Entity Model that has Items, which can belong to one or more categories, and which can have one or more tags. I need to write a query that finds all tags for a given ItemCategory, preferably with a single call to the database, as this is going to get called fairly often. I currently have: Dim q = (From ic In mContext.ItemCategory _ Where ic.CategoryID = forCategoryID _ Select ic).SelectMany(Function(cat) cat.Items).SelectMany(Function(i) i.Tags) _ .OrderByDescending(Function(t) t.Items.Count).ToList This is nearly there, apart from it doesn't contain the items for each tag, so I'd have to iterate through, loading the item reference to find out how many items each tag is related to (for font sizing). Ideally, I want to return a List(Of TagCount), which is just a structure, containing Tag as string, and Count as integer. I've looked at Group and Join, but I'm not getting anywhere so any help would be greatly appreciated!

I doing this in controller's action: (I am aspecting pdf file here therefore it is hardcoded below.   • EF4 generates invalid script

    When I right-click in a .EDMX file and click Generate Database From Model, the resulting script is obviously wrong because of the table names. What it generates is the following script. Note the table names in the DROP TABLE part versus the CREATE TABLE part. Why is this inconsistent? This is obviously not a reusable script. What I created was an Entity named "Address" and an Entity named "Company", etc (all singular). The EntitySet names are pluralized. The "Pluralize New Objects" boolean does not change this either. So what's the deal? For what it's worth, I originally generated the EDMX by pointing it to a database that had tables with non-pluralized names and now that I've made some changes, I want to go back the other way.   • How to search inbox using zend mail

    The following is a function from zend_mail_protocol_imap. i read that to search emails, I would want to override it using zend_mail_storage_imap (which is what I'm using now to grab email from gmail). I copy and pasted the following function into zend_mail_storage_imap, but I'm having issues with the params. I can't find documentation on what to use for the array $params. I initially thought it was the search term before reading it more thoroughly. I'm out of ideas.
